Send/Receive SMS - US to Canada

Hey guys, I've been doing some research on this, the most informative information I've found was a thread here from 2005.

My question is this: I will be sending and receiving a lot of SMS to and from Canada over the next year. Now I know if I were roaming in Canada I'd be charged, but what about while in the US? Just an example since the Sprint rep could not understand what I wanted.

I think it's a simple question, but sprint's site doesn't mention canada under either domestic or international SMS. I'm hoping it just comes out of my bucket.

I'm not sure what Canada is considered. You might want to test it by sending a message to someone in Canada. However, I believe that it is not covered under your text bucket.

If you have a text messaging plan you are good to go. If not it will cost you .15 cents a message in and out.

My wife has been up in Canada for the past two weeks. We both have unlimited texts. No charge for any of them.

As long as you have a text messaging plan that covers it your golden. You can check your usage by logging into your account on Sprint.com

Does anyone know if you would pay extra to SMS other carriers in Canada?

You can send a text to any cell service in Canada and not incur any charges other than for your text plan. Same with receiving from Canada. My wife's relatives all live in Canada and we text them everyday. We have unlimited texting and have never paid for a single one. Same when my wife goes to visit, she can text to me back in the states from her Sprint phone and I can text her. Not charged for anything extra.
