Okay, I've had this phone all of 10 minutes (it's not even activated on my line) and I'm really impressed.

For background, I'm a total Sanyo fanboy. I've never owned any phone other than a Sanyo for more than 2 weeks. I had a 6700 for about a week. I had a Fusic for about 12 days. I had a MM9000 for YEARS, and a MM5600 just before that.

Externally: This phone is sexy. It's got a beautiful (fingerprint magnet) black exterior. It's a million times sleeker than any phone I've ever carried. It feels solid. Not heavy, solid.

The external controls, with their little "buzz" are great. I didn't think it was a big deal, the little buzz that every keeps talking about, but I really enjoy it now that I have it in hand. I'm also very fond of the red light in the external control. It looks cleaner than the Fusic.

The volume button is indeed on the top half of the phone, as are the camera and music buttoms. I don't find it to be an issue. If I'm adjusting the volume, it's just as easy for me to hold the top of the phone as it is the bottom.

The external screen appears to be larger than my 9000. It's pretty and clear, and well placed.

Internal:

Almost everyone wants to know about the keypad. Truth be told, I'm having a slight problem with the keypad. I've got long-ish fingernails, and the numbers can be a bit tough to get to if I'm not holding my hands the right way. I do, however enjoy the feel of the keys, I'm not normally a "tactile" type of dialer anyway.

Perhaps because I have smaller fingers it's easier for me to access the D-Pad than it is for some. I've been finding that it's really quite comfortable and easy for me.

The internal screen is a MAJOR improvement from the Fusic. It's very clean and clear. I'm not sure of the actual specs, sorry.

Okay, I've got to get to work, but I'll be back later to finish this off.

So, I'm still actually in love with this phone. I got a chance to open it up, look around, press a few buttons.

There is a good selection of pre-loaded screen savers and themes to go with this phone. I'm not interested in those, as I always load my own anyway. The ringers, well, I load my own of those as well, so I didn't really look too closely at them.

What I was interested in was the stuff I'm really into. Web surfing with Opera Mini 4 (Beta) was wonderful. I was able to access everything I wanted to, and it was nice and snappy! The music player is not as hard as everyone is making it out to be. You press the music button on the side of the phone, it pops up. If you open the phone and press the "End", it allows you to send the music player into the background. I found it works well when playing games, when using Opera Mini, when texting.

The d-pad is fully programable, a WONDERFUL feature that I wish all phones I've ever owned had. In addition, the left soft key brings up a favorites menu.

The phone will vibrate for rings on ANY volume level, great for meetings or when you just don't want to be as obvious.

The phone I played with in the store was VERY laggy, but mine has not had any issues at all.

FM Transmitter worked well for me. I used it several times of the day in several areas of the city and had no problems. My car stereo doesn't have an input jack, so FM Trans is a blessing.

It does indeed come with the data cable, which is nice, as so many phones nowadays don't. There was no car chargers available in my local Sprint store, so I went to Walgreens and for $12.99 bought a charger for a "Chocolate". Works fine and probably saved me $15 or $20.

The speaker quality, though not that of my MM9000, is much better than the Fusic or 8400. It's not quite as loud as the 8400, but it is MUCH cleaner and clearer.

Overall, I'm quite pleased with this phone. I know it's lacking a thing or two from my MM9000, and nothing will replace that phone in my mind. I will say that this is a MUCH slimmer, sexier phone, and that sure helps it win a place in my heart.

Oh, if anyone has something in particular they'd like me to check out, let me know!

I'm still looking for something to hate about this phone!

I've played with the Music Composer, and while it doesn't seem to be very necessary, it helps keep the kids occupied now and again.

I've set up my push mail, and I'm loving being able to actually read my e-mails on the go. I know you had options before, other ways of doing it on the 9000, 8400, etc. I just love the format that this phone has it in. Just one or two clicks away from checking my Yahoo email and my AOL email. SWEEEEEET!

I still haven't had the issues of batter life that some seem to have, and I'm a VERY heavy user.
