I got an email from a friend the other day stating that if we have Sprint/Nextel service, we can call in, give them her email, and get a 10% discount on OUR service.

From the forwards later on down the email, it looks like someone up in accounting sent this out to everyone urging them to give this out to friends and family. The reason is right now, they have something like 650 people on their plan, and when they get to 700, they'll bump up to 12%. This would save them $18k/yr.

Is there anything wrong with this? I think there is, but, I just wanted to make sure. If there is, would Sprint give me a reward for turning them in? :headbang2

By the way, personally, I wouldn't mess around with this. I currently get a 24% discount. Just something I was curious about. I did call and ask Sprint, and the lady in sales sounded like she didn't know what day it was.

sounds to me like a pretty shady accounting department.this is just a corporate version of a individual trying to save some money using every angle available to them.thats fine, sprint offers them so i say use them.but this is just wrong,it's deception.these accountants are doing their job to save their company money, but this is not a angle that they are taking advantange of.it's just a cheating of sprint.

Its against sprint's intentions, and you would have to lie about working there.

If they randomly called to confirm you worked there, and they said yes, it would be added, its just up to you to decide if its morally right. Since you have 24% obviously you are not interested, I would just tell your friend to avoid it, but I don't think I would turn them in.

Well, it's my friend's company that's doing it, so obviously she gets a discount. And, actually, she's not really a friend, I've actually black listed her, so I wouldn't feel bad turning her in, as long as I got something out of it.

Shady at the very least. With a business that uses those tactics, they won't last long as a business so the NVP will disappear aswell for the people that used to work there.

Sounds very shady thats considered bad business practices personally I would not take it especially since you already have 24% off. Just leave it alone I would but then again thats just me.
