View Full Version : Transfering a line

Hello,

I was wondering if this is possible.

I would like to transfer one of my numbers to my neice (who currently uses it), cancel my plan and have her take up her own plan. The only thing is that she wants to be able to have a new phone. I would like to be able to cancel my current line for her (leaving me with 9 active lines of service).

The sprint site says the line of service is up on 9/26.

Is this possible? Any recomendations?

Thanks!

I do not completely understand what you are trying to do but I believe that this is it.

You just want to cancel your plan and then prepare your number to be ported. Your niece can go buy a new phone and a new plan that she wants. They will give her a new number but she can just port the old number in on top of it. This would result in her keeping the number she wants, you canceling her from your account, and her buying a new phone.

If that is what you wanted to do it is possible but to cancel her plan there would prob be an ETF.

Sorry if that is not what you wanted to do.

I know that you can remove lines and make them independent accounts by going to the store they cant do it over the phone. And you have to go with your niece because the primary account has to be there (I know that from exprience). I dont know about the new phone for exchange for 2 yr contract ive heard conflicting stories about that somebody else should post a comment about that soon.

This is close to what I am asking... but, I can't go to the store with her. I am in Southern California... she is in Carson City Nevada.

But you have it dead on with what I was thinking.

actually we can do transfer of liability over the phone.... but we MUST do conference call, YOU, your niece and care rep.... then we can go ahead and make an account for yur niece... we will be needing some of her info to create an accnt for her. usually it takes 4-8 hrs, but you dont have to wait on the line. you can check it after 8 hrs. thats then your niece will be having an accout of her own..

why dont you wait for the contract end date then you can cancel the line without etf, and then you can ask your niece to apply for her own account so she can have her own 'free' phone as soon as she opens a new line. but the consequence is just that she cant have the same number as she used to have.

The number it the key... otherwise I wouldn't care. The funny thing is, she has her won account which she uses for her cousin and her husband.

so she still wants the same number and a free phone? if so, then wait for the eligibility... it is base on the handset life... you can check that by logging into sprintrebates.com.

so if she wants her line to be with the other #s on her account. in which her cousin and her husband is using. its kinda complicated.. hehehe her line is under your account and the lines on her account is used by her cousin and her husband... :headbang2:
