It has been 32 hours since getting my Muziq (LX-570). Overall am I ETREMELY PLEASED with this phone... and I will go out on a limb to say that this may end up being the best cell phone I have ever owned.
I love the glossy black finish. Looks really great when you first take it out of the box. But, our damned human skin is greasy, oily and dirty... so expect that to affect the way this phone looks throughout the day! :D FINGERPRINT MAGNET, FOLKS!
The outer LCD is large and very clear/bright. The outside media controls light up red, and makes you instantly realize that this phone is the cousin of the Chocolate on Verizon. They are also touch sensitive, and vibrate when you use them. The slight akwardness of using them wears off within 5 minutes, and they you really appriciate them.
On the left side of the phone, there are volume keys... and the data/charge port. Yes... the same port for both... this phone doesn't come with the standard pin hole charger port common on Sprint phones. This is becoming more and more common with more slim phones comming out. On the right side, you have a camera button and a "Music" button.
Open up the flip and there is a LARGE LCD screen inside. With the screen being so big, I am suprised that they didn't go with QVGA, non the less, the screen is bright and the colors are vibrant. Better than other LG's from Sprint's past... although I never did own or play much with the Fusic that came before this.
The keys are large and easy to read. You will not have any texting issues with this phone.
One welcome feature is the BUILT IN push email client. I can't speak for other email providers, the the email client in this phone TRULY syncs with my Gmail account. When you receive an email, the phone notifies you immediately... and gives you an exact count of new emails in that notification. Same thing when you navigate to "Messaging" and you see the sub menus for Text, Picture Mail, and soo on...
there is also "Email (1)" listed as well. And when using my Gmail with this client, if I delete a mail on either side, it is reflected on the other as well. IE... delete an email with my phone, and it gets deleted from my inbox at Gmail.com as well!
The signal stregnth seems weaker than my m610, but maybe the phones interperate "bars" different from each other. I have no trouble making calls, etc... with only 1 bar showing.
Battery life is great. MUCH... MUCH better than Samsung m610, a900, etc.
FM transmitter... SUCKS. Tried it on several frequencies, several different radios, car stereos. It just doesn't work like people would hope for. STATIC CITY!!!!
There is no dedicated media player like other PV phones of Sprint past. Over the past year, Sprint has introduced those downloadable JAVA programs like "Power View" and "Sprint TV"... and with other phones you had the choice to use the built in media player or download those programs. NO MORE. Now with the LG Muzq (and I sure other phones will follow suit), Sprint took those JAVA programs, and embedded them into the Phone. So now, instead of Media Player being in the top right icon of the main menu, that icon is now called "Sprint TV" and it opens up the Sprint TV Java program. To play Music on this phone... you guessed it... you click on "Music" and it opens the Sprint Music Store/Player.
Now, don't get me wrong. These programs do the job just fine... it's just I have always been so used to having the dedicated media player built in... so it just takes some getting used to.
The outer touch media controls DO work with the Music Store player... as well as the FM transmitter. You can also minimize the player so you can text and do other things while the music still plays... sans browsing the web...
Also.. the Music button on the side of the phone has a double function. It opens the music program up quickly with an open flip... but it also... works as a "Quick minimize" button for the player, while listening to music.
I did need to reformat my 2GB MicroSD card for this phone, as it couldn't "find" my music and pics from when I pulled it from my m610.
The phone is compatible with the Sprint Music Manager and even comes with a little mini-CD with the program and drivers for the phone.
Things in the box:
Phone
Manuals
CD-Rom
Home Charger
USB Cable
Headphone adapter (No head phones though... you gotta supply your own.)
Overall I am very satisfied with this phone so far and I defininitely could recommend it to you all!
