View Full Version : Second Thoughts on Jumping Ship

You know, all this stuff with cancellations, and with the army cancellations in general, have made me consider dropping Sprint. So I started looking around at their competitors. And if it was for just one line, I would probably jump at the Helio All-In Unlimited plan. Even at $145/mo, you get a hell of a lot. The only thing is: I have 6 lines of service (one of which is a data card). So I kept looking around and then I wised up. I looked at my usage.

Low and behold, changing plans and carriers might not be as simple as it first sounded. My combined anytime usage is low… well 1692 minutes last month. My night and weekends is fairly normal I would think at 1908 minutes. But any plan I get would need to take into account my Sprint to Sprint minutes… of 2346 minutes. Wait, and then I realized my total utilization was DOWN this month. Then I need to consider that most of those night and weekend minutes are early evening. You know, the 7PM starting time for nights and weekends.

The net result of this research? Apparently with some of the competitors of Sprint I would need a plan with at least 5500 monthly minutes to share. If I get N&W’s starting at 9pm. This is INSANE. The plans you see on many of Sprints competitors are just too expensive. Especially when you add in a 15% loyalty discount, and when I just turned in a 10% Credit Union discount… I am not sure it is even close to feasible.

So anyone else considering a jump… you might want to check all your numbers. Could be painful otherwise.

Wow... roped in without a contract.

Rob.

I agree...Sprint does have some good plans available...especially when it comes to family plans. But as far as your Sprint to Sprint number crunching, are you calling other Sprint customers you know or are you calling the other phones on your plan? If its the other phones on your plan, then you will probably have free network calls wherever you go.

also keep in mind that companies like alltel and Tmo have the favorites plans now where you can call select numbers as much as you like no matter who the carrier. So if its only 5 numbers that you call all the time, this could really drop your costs..

Weel, in all truth most of the calls sprint to sprint are not in my plan. My in-laws, several friends, at least five customer phones, at least three family members... and my best friend and coworker. And we work off our phones.

Kinda scary when you start to break it down.

YEP--You need to weigh you options before jump head 1st......

My Plan that I pay 170$ would cost me about 500$ with anyother carrier.....considering the follow

-I use alot of M2M....My Family on My Plan, co-workers and friends all use Sprint (Most becuase i referred them)...I myself adverage about 2500 M2M a month....

-Everyone of my peoples loves Sprint's quality...If my account was cancelled most of them Included GF and MOM would get a Sprint account in their name, they love Sprint that much.

....Sprint has been nothing but loyal to me so, I'm remain loyal in return......If received a cancellation notice, I wouldn't like it, but ATT or VZW here I come but not willingfully.

I've never had a problem with Sprint. I'm really not sure what, or how an error can go on and on every month. I manage 3 coworkers accounts who "hated" Sprint. Since then, they've never had a problem. Mainly because I'm on top of it.

I go through tech support always. Perhaps that's why. If there was a glitchy billing error, it's a technical problem...so that's who I call.

The other thing I really think is that a CS rep is applying the wrong code in most cases. When someone posts here that a rep assured them a credit was applied and then they get their bill and the credit isn't there.... the rep didn't lie, the billing software removed the credit.

Again, tech support is the best department I've experienced to handle billing errors.

I plan on jumping ship, I have had billing errors seemingly every month and now with my Motorola Q that I have had for 37 days giving me major problems and CS not wanting to help at all, I have just about had enough. The past 2 days I have been treated like I don't matter and just really seems like they don't care. Maybe they feel empowered now since they have to right to cancel service for people calling with legit problems. I don't know. But as a 9-year customer, let me tell you this sucks.

At the end of the month I plan on paying the penalty and getting out of my contract and heading to Verizon or Att.

I switched to AT&T. Did it all online and if there was a question their helpline was efficient, courteous, and solved the problem. I got 2 free phones, more minutes, free phone to phone calls, and it's $20 cheaper. Sprint's customer service and billing is the worst.

I can't and won't jump ship

Sprint gave me a $600 phone free and $140 per month plan for $26 per month (after discounts credits etc)

I would be nuts to jump ship

Just wait until they **** up your bill and you need assitance. They are inept. You got a free phone and service for $26? Sounds suspicious. I wonder how many people in these forums work for Sprint and try to counter legitimate complaints. I ah 400 anytime minutes and every text or photo sent was charged. They enrolled me in a new contract without my knowledge and then they took 9 months to solve disputed bills. I have an AT&T plan with 2 new phones more minutes and it cost less then my old Sprint plan. Go on, juts try caling the help line with a problem and see what kind of run around you get. Wait until they start disconnecting you should you have billing issues. Scour your bill for all the little bogus charges they stick in there. You like Sprint? Good luck to you.

From what I read in different wireless customer review sites, AT&T probably one of the few wireless services that has even worse rating than Sprint. And Verizon usually has the best rating. Using AT&T as a comparison is not a good idea. It just point out ONE single individual may have different experience with different wireless carrier. Just like I never have problem with my Sprint plan for over 6 years. I also had Verizon plan for many years and no major problem also.
