Since that guy on here posted on here about remotv i went to register but you had to get an email saying that you got accepted to open up an account. well i got accepted. so the email said that i have to give them my phone number (thats fine) but they also want my ESN number (isnt that how phones are phreaked/hacked). has anyone tried remotv?

The ESN number is required to allow the application to access the multimedia features on a Sprint phone. RemoTV has applied for a Sprint certificate for our application, but their partner program is a bit slow. We were faced with the option of either not offering the service to Sprint users or requesting the ESN. It is understandable if you would rather not provide that number, but please keep in mind that we are offering a closed beta. The primary reason for that was to offer the service to bleeding edge users while we work out some of the kinks, one of which is this certificate issue.

Sprint has assured us that our request will be handled shortly. In the mean time, we respect your concern for security and understand if you wish to wait for the open beta. We will keep all users who have registered, informed about our progress. Thanks for the post and we assure you that RemoTV is worth the wait.

RemoTV allows you to stream media from your PC to your cell phone. You can stream video, music, and picture files. There are two pieces of software - the RemoTV Channels! application is installed on your PC and is where you can create channels of content to stream, and the RemoTV Mobile! application is installed on your phone where you can view your channels (you will soon be able to view your channels from a browser as well). Both of these applications connect to RemoTV servers on the net so there is no network configuration required, just start the app and go.

Once you have created your channels you can also share them, so other can view your content, and you can view theirs creating a vast network of media. Bandwidth is not an issue because the Channels! application streams to the RemoTV service, which handles all your connections, so the service will not overload your home broadband connection if lots of people are viewing your content. As more users join, more content becomes available.

At this point in the beta you must have your Channels! application online in order to view your content. But by the time we release the open beta, we will have caching implemented, which will allow you to access your content even if your PC is offline. We are also adding support for flash media players, so soon you will be able to access all your content from your phone or any web browser with a flash plug in (that’s just about every browser these days) so you can get to your media anytime, anywhere.

You can sign up at www.remotv.com - the beta link is on the right.

Thanks for the interest.

So multiple phones can connect to one computer's channels/content at once without a password?

RemoTV

Yes. Once registered for the service a user can access any public channels. A couple of things to keep in mind though:

1. The phones never connect to a users computer, the computer and phone each connect to the service securely, this is done for security reasons and to reduce the bandwidth drag on the computer (even if 50 people are watching one channel, RemoTV bears the bandwidth burden, only one stream is sent from the PC).

2. When a Channel full of content is created, the users can specify if they would like that channel to be private - meaning only they can see it, public - meaning everyone can see it, or specific - meaning only people they specify can see it. Most channels are public.

Well, I signed up, actualy got a call on my cell phone from them. The software looks pretty simple to use, the phone software I haven't got to stream anything yet and most of the time I can't seem my channels. But it does seem to be fairly simple and should be easy to use.
