For some reason I am getting text messages hours, even days later than they are sent to me. I have a Treo 700P, anyone know if something is going on with Sprint? CS was no help. Any ideas? Thanks everyone

I encountered the exact same issue last night. It started for me yesterday at approximately 8 or 9 PM. My friend and I had been texting for about 20 minutes. All of the sudden I stopped receiving replies. Fast forward to the exact same time today. I received a barrage of text messages from her. I knew they were ones she'd sent last night, because they were answers to my questioned I had asked then.
Anywho, the issue has seemed to resolve itself, at least for me. I can send and receive text messages just fine. I've encountered this issue in the past, but it's been a very long time since it last happened.
Has anyone else encountered this issue in the last 24 hours?

I noticed it does this every few weeks. When I complained to Sprint a couple weeks ago she put in a ticket but I don't know what happened after that because the next day my texts were fine.

Known issue with the 700p. You can do Palm's update from their website to fix it permanently or do a soft reset every time it seems you're missing out on texts.

i had delayed txt form t mobile phones on fri night and i just got them on sat night. but its not that cs wasnt helpful cuz tech does not do more trouble shooting that cs when it comes to txt msg issues. if its recurring issue then it either the phone or they do a ticket.

I've been having trouble receiving picture mail the last week and a half. It comes in as a regular text message and I have to go online to see the picture. I called to talk to tech support today and she worked on the settings to my account and on my phone for half an hour trying without success to get my new replacement phone working properly.
When she was unable to get it to work by fixing all of the standard things that might be messed up, she put me on hold and talked to a higher level tech. She came back on to tell me that this is a system wide problem with an open ticket. It affects picture mail and/or text messages. Part of the problem is that it's effects are spotty, so it's not affecting everyone, and not always all of the time. She said it may affect both picture mail and text messages for some users, or it may only affect picture mail or only text messages & some are not experiencing any problems at all. It's the same issue that's causing delayed texts and multiple copies of the same text. They didn't have an expected time line for the fix.

I have been experiencing multiple texts on my 700wx and a good friend of mine has been having delayed texts for a while now on her berry.
It is starting to get rather annoying......

Yes.
I have a 700wx and occasionally get double texts of the same message as well. It's been infrequent so I never bothered to call Sprint about it...

Anyone else having this problem again? It hasn't happened to me for quite awhile until yesterday. Yesterday my text message were delayed by about an hour. Then today it was working fine, I was receiving text messages but then it stopped. An hour later I got a text message that had been sent an hour ago. So I don't know if it is my phone (a Treo 755) or Sprint.

Its most likely your treo.. But also note no where on any carriers site does it says text messages are instant or give any estimate on how long an average text message should take to send and receive.

haha....what a cop-out for the carrier though! It may not be explicitly stated but everyone knows that it is expected. No carrier would ever have the balls to stand up and say otherwise. But yes, you are correct and I know I wouldn't be able to get out of my contract for a breach of contract or anything (but I don't want to either).
I know the Treo 700p's had this problem (although it only happened once or twice on my 700p) but I didn't think the 755 inherited this problem as well.

It's never happened to my 755p and I've had it since June.

Sounds like the towers are being barraged with voice data and mms/sms and it is prioritizing them somehow...maybe you are on the low end?

I've had similiar problems with Sprint, Cingular, Nextel (before the merger), and have heard of it from others with different services. It seems to be random and is probably related to the amount of data/traffic being carried by the network at that particular time.
The only time it has been a problem was when I was missing messages from my boss. I had him call me and leave a voicemail message and then send a text message while I was in his office. When it didn't come through immediately, he decided (out of the goodness of his heart) not to write me up for not answering him immediately. We covered some other items and about two hours later, his "instant" message arrived. When I left for the day, his voicemail message had still not arrived. As luck would have it, I was in his office the next day when his voicemail message arrived (almost 24 hours after it was sent).

You know, this happens to me very rarely, but it DOES happen. On every phone I've ever had, it's not so much phone specific for me. It doesn't happen a lot, but has ALWAYS happend as long as I can remember. Out of the blue my girlfriend will call me and say, "Are you mad @ me or something" and I'm like huh?? I texted you and you never answered me, and I'm like HUH???? I never got your text?!? Visa Versa too. I think this is "normal". Since it doesn't happen often I don't care. But adds to confusion sometimes.

I had the same experience and my wife, then girlfriend, use to get so mad at me...:1zhelp:. Its funny, but I think Sprint owes me for unjustified pain and suffering because I, like others, were innocent; especially when I was trying to communicate with my fiancee planning a wedding. Once, I read the thread above I had no choice but to share my experiences.
I have four lines (Blackberry, Moto Q, Treo 700p, M500 Samsung). I have only experienced late and/or no texts with the Treo (650 & 700p). I have spoken with sprint techs and the best short term solution/advice I received was to take out the battery for one minute. At some point, the text messages will come in. Messages did come in hours and days late.
I hope that helps someone out there.:hee:

I use to love GSM feature "delievery notification" included in treo 650 and 680 GSM versions. Wish CDMA or sprint in particular had this feature.
