Ok....I just bought the 8400 after trying to decide between it and the M1. Did I make the right decision?
Also, I am trying to transfer Jpegs from my pc to my phone so I can use them as screensavers, caller ids, etc. When I transfer some of them over they don't fit the phone's screen. I tried to make them smaller and then transfer them over but it still happens. What am I doing wrong? Can anyone help me?
And I know this has been asked...trust me cause I've read all the entries, but is there an EASY way to transfer mp3s over to be used as ringtones? I tried doing the wavepad thing (no idea what I was doing) and then I tried to send it to my phone by using phoneuploader but all failed. I'm kinda irritated cause I bought the phone after being told I could do that. My niece has a phone through cingulair and she can transfer anything and everything to her phone with no problem. I guess that's the tradeoff though of being with sprint vs. crappy cingulair.

It can be done, but it takes a lot of editing using a program like Photoshop. The size must be 240 by 320 to start with. This is difficult in itself. I'm pretty good with Photoshop, but it was still pretty hard to crop and shrink a picture to this size while retaining the aspect ratio. Then you have to worry about the resolution and the size of the file.
Like I said, you can do it, and it's worth the effort. I just don't know of an EASY way to do it.

It's easy to shrink a picture and keep the aspect ratio...what's hard is being able to do it AND keep the detail in the pic viewable.
Most photo programs have a way to lock the horizontal and vertical together so it will always be the correct ratio. The problem is most pictures look like crap when they're the size of a postage stamp. That's where the hard part comes in...finding one that's interesting and still viewable when shrunk.

I always do it with paint shop pro, you can resize the pics easily.

You can easily resize the pics to fit your 8400 (I do it, if I can.....) I use Irfanview which is a free program. They will look beautiful, maybe not as beautiful as the picture of my horse, but hey. Then I make the ringtone I want and upload it with focus or rumpkin and there ya go. Hope this helps.

I LOVE Irfran View! What size do you make the pic before you transfer it to your phone via the usb? The one I have resized several times still cuts some of the faces out of the pic when I view it on my phone.

melynbeth,
Mind me asking where you bought your 8400?
How much did it cost?
Did you have to change your plan?
