So here's the most recent crazy thing that's happened in my Sanyo life...
I live with my family in the same house. Each of us have Sprint mobile service with 3 separate accounts. We also each have a Sanyo M1.
A few weeks ago, one of the 3 phones starting glitching. We're talking major glitching here too. The screen went completely blank, calls wouldn't go through, and random phone resetting would happen. A day or so later, another one of the three M1's started doing the same thing... and to make matters a little more odd... the third one is now doing the same thing. As the days go by, it's getting worse and worse. I know the solution here is to take it to a tech at a store and have them look at it (we all have TEP)(and I haven't had time yet) but... as the science guy I pretend not to be... what would cause ALL three phones to have the SAME problems within the SAME timeframe? To my knowledge, there haven't been any EMP's (Electromagnetic Pulses) that the phones have each been confronted with and there haven't been any Microwaves flowing through the air that I know of either. There's other technology in the house that would've been affected if that was the case. Plus, I didn't know the M1's to be known to have so many crashing issues. And I get that it can randomly happen here and there... but to THREE phones in the same time period?!?!
Does anyone have any theories as to what could cause such a weird occurence?
Thanks in advance for any replies.

I've had four m1's and they all did/do the power cycle with the white screen, and wasnt properly shut down message. I also have the 9000, had the 610 & 500 which have done the same thing. I have no idea whats causing it but would like it to stop lol.

Hmm.. see... there HAS TO be a reason for all this. It can't all be chalked up to random bad phones... There are TOO many here that randomness would pretty much be erradicated as a theory.
Are there a lot of people out there that had a lot of phones that went crazy on them at some short point after getting them? And why are these phones doing this?!

hmm never had that issue with my m1, then again i dont use it anymore
just a quick question
i have full service where i am
whats the service like for you all (how many bars) im just seeing if somehow it could be related to signal strength but i doubt it
i ask because the only time my m1 ever acted odd was when i was in a low/no/roaming area out by my families ranch

My service is almost always full bars in my home and I lose one or two bars here and there. The service on this side of the US is phenomenal... at least for me. But I'm right next to a major city.
Any other ideas of what it could be?

nope lol that was just one of the ideas i had, otherwise it may just be a flaw in the design that only affects "certain models" or alot of models perhaps we should run a poll to see how many?
something to the extent of how (if any) many m1s of yours have died? (so we can get a number other then just yes/no)
0
1
2
3
4
5+ (or 4+ i cant remember how many entries a poll can contain)
and for 5+ state if more then 5 please post with the actual number

ive had mine since middle of december. i havent had a white screen of death.
more like a "go to sleep with 2 bars of power, and wake up with a dead phone".

lol so true, the m1 does have horrible battery life once it gets down to thoes 2 bars
i guess you could call that the main reason i dont use it anymore its not reliable for more then 24hrs under what i consider my "normal usage"
i just cant bring myself to bid it goodbye its a great phone

Yea, I was thinking about getting a different phone for each of us... but something keeps holding me back. I mean... feature-wise it's an awesome phone... and it's a Sanyo. That's a huge plus too.
I was thinking that we might be overloading the phones with the services it has. I have ReadyLink, Bluetooth, and Power Vision always active and I swap from text to call to RL call to BT headset to PV browsing and back a few times over on a daily basis (I work with my phone a lot).
Anyone think that might have something to do with it? Kinda like when we tell computers to do a lot of things one after another or at the same time and sometimes they reply with, "WOAH... Slow down there buddy, I'm a machine... not a... bigger machine... gimme a minute". Plausible??

So... a tech told me today that there could be some interference where i live that keeps messing up my phone. For example... he said that if there is an airport near me (which there is), that might cause the phone to crazy. Or if someone living near me is an EMT and uses the Emergency Walkie Talkies, that could cause interference that can hurt the phone (that's also the case for me). So after giving me a lot of different things that could be causing issues and verifying that a lot of those things were near me, I asked him if that meant that all my future Sprint phones would go haywire from time to time... he replied with, "No... not all future Sprint phones... just most future phones from any service".... Oh.
But yea... so now the question is... do any of you with these phone bugging issues have things near you like an airport or walkie talkies or trucks that the phones may constantly be near and exposed to?

hmmm that's a first but no i've never really noticed any of my phones go nuts. i live in the suburbs, nowhere near a hospital, semis or airports.
now as far as ready link, yes, just having ready link will destroy your battery life. bluetooth not as much. and disabling "on demand" so it doesnt update 24/7 helps a lot too.

I didnt know on demand updated like that. I live kind of near a highway but I dont know about that part of the theory. Being close to an airport did mess up the reception on my 7400. Who knows, its an unsolved mystery. :)

I didn't know that On Demand thing either. How do you disble it from updating? Is that just disabling Vision?
And I'm goin to take phone 2 to the store on Tuesday. Maybe that tech can tell us something different about this mystery. It's sad to think that such simple things like walkie talkies nearby might be causing problems for all our phones though.
In the meantime... if anyone has any other ideas why phones glitch out so bad let us know. One thing is for sure... at least I know that my family and I aren't psychos... when it comes to phones. hahaha.

right when you load on demand go to options > configure and the only setting available is to disable auto updating i never thought of that either but now that i disabled it im curious to see the battery life i get, im pondering disabling location but i do use it for GPS so i dunno its a toss-up but it generally saves alot of battery life

Hate to bring up a somewhat of an old thread but my 9K just got the white screen. Removed battery to no avail. Still all white screen (external & internal). Funny thing is I can still receive & make calls. Just that the screen is all white. Damm it, it's my ESPN MVP one too. Any suggestions?

Yea, if you've had the phone for less than a year, take it to a store to get it checked by a tech and they should fail it and replace it. If you've had it for more than a year, do it anyway and see if they just replace it. If that doesn't work, try callin "account services" and asking them to put Total Equipment Replacement on your account and then call it in after about a week. That'll cost $50 but it's not too bad considering that you'll get a new or refurbed phone (at least, I think so). And if those things don't work... lemme know... and I'll see if I can think of more creative ways to help ya out (no... no... I play by the rules... I'm not talkin anything not allowed).
Hope I helped a bit.
Good luck.
Let us know how it goes.

It's my understanding that you have 30 days to add TEP to a new phone that you placed on your account. Correct?

Yes, to my knowledge that is true. But In my personal experience, I've noticed that the "Account Services" reps don't mind putting it on whenever if you explain your problematic situation. After all, you're asking to pay more money per month. When it comes down to it, if a rep tells you that you're not allowed to have it on, simply try saying, "I'm just asking to give Sprint more money per month" - just say it in a light hearted and kind way. Again - just goin on personal experience here.

Yea it is. I had to have surgery recently and I haven't been able to work on my phone. My family though went to the store and proved the problem to the techs. They approved a NEW in store exchange after talking specifically to the tech himself.
As soon as I'm recovered, I'm gonna be doing the same thing myself.
