I need some help choosing a new phone. I have the ppc6700 right now and it's a great phone, but I'm just a little tired of it and want something else. I talk myself into trading phones about every 6months.
Anyways I like the look of the upstage but am not sure if that's what I should get. I also like the k1m and v3 razor. I just need a few of you here to talk me into one of these phoness.
Must haves:
bluetooth
Internet
a way to sync my contacts with a computer
callender
I would like to be able to sync my contacts and callender with outlook or a similar program on my laptop. I would also like to be able to link my laptop and computer via bluetooth and get internet while I am on the road.
Camera is nice but it takes such a crappy picture that I don't use it much, maybe that would change with the better camera on the upstate. Though flip phone might be nice b/c it protects the screen better.
Anyways you can see that I am all confused on what to buy so let me know what you think and talk me into a new phone
hopefully this does not double post.. I've been having problems submitting it.. someone please delete if double posted.

Most new phones require the $40 Phone-As-Modem plan on top of your regular voice plan to go online from a laptop.

The only ones that dont are your current WM5 devices. The Motorola lineup is nice, Aside from the slow menu navigation. I have the Moto Phone tools download if you want it for free.
I might recommend the M610 over the M620. You will like the M620 if you dont mind having to do a few more steps in navigation and phone flipping to get where you want. Plus the M610 is a better phone IMO. Thin clamshell (if you're into that sorta thing) Nice rubber feel, Nice big QVGA screen (like A900), BT 2.0. 2.0 MP camera. Those last 3 alone is what made me get the M610. But then the M620 came out and curiosity kills the cat.
If you could, wait it out for the 6800. You could also take a look at the Moto Q. Very nice phone as well. But remember, as i'm sure you know. All of Sprints WM5 devices dont have Pic mail. You can do the pic mail hack for the 6700 and 700wx but those are the only two that have hacks for pic mail.

$40 to use your phone as a modem. They are starting to stick you for everything now. I have a data plan, and have use it with my pm325, a900, and now I use it with my 6700.
Any experience syncing the contacts, and callender on these phones?

Which phones? Be more specific. I know I listed several alone..

I dont think you can sync your calender with any non smart phones. Your best bet would be a Q, Treo, IP-830, or wait for the 6800.

I was afraid I was going to have problems syncing the calender.
I like the form factor of the 610 and 620 over most of the pda phones and i think I want to go back to something like that. So between those two phones what do you all think? Does anyone have a way to sync a callender with either of them?
I'm open to all thoughts and suggestions.

Yes you can. Both Moto Krzr and Razr can sync as long as you have Moto Phone tools.

Are there any other advantages of the krzr or razr over the 610. I really like the 610 but have searched the net and haven't found anyone that can sync it with a callendar.

has anyone tried this:
http://www.goldsofts.com/soft/448/48481/SyncCell_For_Motorola.html
It says it works with razor and other motorola phones so I hoping it would work with the 610 or 620. :)

If you come from an A900, The upstage is right for you..

Hardly.. If you're coming from the A900, the M610 is next in line. It's the upgrade from the A900. Second would be the M620 which isnt an upgrade from anything since it's a first of its kind.. It's all user preference.
I'll do some research for you about the M610 and calender syncing. I'd like to know if there's a way too.

I'd wait until the 6800 was released. After you've had WM nothing else will do. Except maybe palm. But palm isn't doing as well as it used to.

I agree. Going from something that runs Windows, to something that runs a proprietary system is going to be tuff. You're going to lose out on a lot of features you've taken for granted. Plus the ability to find software to fit your specific needs is going to be next to impossible. I'd hold off for the Mogul; it's apparently coming next month.
P.S. I'm never going to be able to switch back from a Smart/PPC Phone to a regular phone.

I'd suggest the Treo 700wx. It seems to be the only thing that could match up to your 6700.

If I can get a 610 or 620 to sync up with my contacts and calendar I think I will switch to one of those for now. I think you are all right about having a hard time switching after having a wm phone.
You know what they say.. you never know what you have until it's gone.. anyways if I feel that way after I change phones I will hold out until the 6800/mogul (which seems to keep getting delayed)
Now the question remains which phone is best for now. One thing I do need to do is hold the 620 in my hand and see what it feel like since it is a totally new form factor, though it is kind of like my old sony/ericson from back in the day.
Any news on syncing?

The 620 is a candy bar phone and I like the factor that this phone has a Backup battery.

That extra battery is very nice. When I carried my A900 I always kept an extra battery near by. My 6700 actually does very good on battery so i've been able to stay away from a charger a couple days at a time without a problem when need be.

Another thought just crossed my mind. Does anyone know how the signal strength on the 610 or 620 compares to that of my 6700? I do live in a questionable service region.
NM08SRT8

Service is good on both. I found I was getting better service on the M610 but it all depends on your area you know?
The Battery wallet for the M620 seems like an extra battery, but it's mostly the other half of the battery. Figure taking you the battery of your 6700, or M610 and taking about 60-70 percent of life out of it and throwing it into another external battery.
Kirker912

Kind of dissappointing to know that the main internal battery is so small, but the case doesn't look too bad, and most times I could leave the extra case/battery in the truck and get it when I needed it.

That's exactly what I and most of the M620 owners do. It'll last with moderate use. Usually after some texting, and getting your first phone call, it'll drop a bar. My advice is, go into the store, mess with it and see if you can get used to the touch pad on the back which is used for the Menu functions. Change the sensitivity level on it and make sure its something you'll like/want to use daily. I still would recommend the M610 over the M620. But it's all up to you bro.

I'm almost scared to do the 620 just because it has a higher risk of scratching the screen. My 6700 has the exposed screen and I have to be so careful with it all the time. It's either in a case, pocket if I have nice pants on, or somewhere safe

Well Sprint had a clear hard case that clips on the M620 both front and back, but there are reports of the phone not fitting in the battery wallet anymore
Here's pics someone someone posted for me.. http://www.sprintusers.com/forum/showpost.php?p=1377865&postcount=14

Ok, so I'm going to do something dumb and buy the Upstage. I'll see if I can sync and check out all the other features, if this fails my needs I'll try the 610, and if all that fails it's wait till the 6800 comes out.
So since I'm doing this what other questions do people have about the 620 upstage? I will test all the features I can.

Well my A900 took a nice trip through the washing machine and doesnt work anymore, so I'm looking for a new phone too. I'm a big texter... I know every phone has texting, but I need my next phone to be good for texting. I was thinking maybe something with a kayboard, and I love the Q because it's slim, but I hate Windows Mobile. It seems like most of you like it, lol. If I were to stick with a non-keyboard phone, does anyone have any suggestions on what I should get??
For now I'm back with my VM4500, haha.

The M1 is okay, but the keys will feel small compared to the a900.
