View Full Version : I made the switch to the SERO $29.99 Unlimited Data Plan (I think)

MidwestDrummer
05-21-2007, 09:44 PM
Yea, I finally got an Employee Accounts rep to get me switched from the $49.99 Unlimited Data plan to the $29.99 Unlimited Data plan. Here was my ordeal on the phone:

EDIT #1: The Employee Accounts that I'm speaking to can see the $49.99 Unlimited Data plan just fine, but he can't find the $29.99 Unlimited Data plan after looking in both P2K and Ensemble. He was kind enough to pull up the SERO website and I directed him to the PDF file that advertises the $29.99 Unlimited Data Plan. He pulled it up (yes the exact same PDF) and he pretty much said, "Well, you're exactly right. It says $29.99, because I'm looking right at it, but I have absolutely no idea how to access it.

EDIT #2: The Employee Accounts rep came back and asked me if I would hold a bit longer because he still couldn't find anything, but he conceded that, "if it advertised on the website, you should be able to get it." He said he's going to get his supervisor to see if they can find anything out.

EDIT #3: The Employee Accounts rep says 4 supervisors have looked and they have absolutely no idea where to find this $29.99 Unlimited Data plan, but they're still looking! He mentioned that $29.99 is the current Unlimited Data price from Sprint employees, but acknowledged that it was SERO we were talking about.

EDIT #4: I AM ON THE SERO $29.99 UNLIMITED DATA PLAN!! The Employee Accounts rep finally came back and announced that the plan change is effective today. I was required to agree to a new 2-year contract, but I certainly don't mind. Unfortunately the Employee Accounts rep didn't offer any explanation as to how the switch was done. He pretty much just told me, and asked if I had any other questions, and if I was satisfied with the service provided. Hmm, I know the chances are very, very small, but I'm wondering if they just gave up and stuck me on the Sprint Employe $29.99 Unlimited Data plan. I mean, the Employee Accounts rep made it sound like they were all just so baffled and confused. Who knows, but I have the $29.99 Unlimited Data plan now and that all that matters!

The switch was made through Employee Accounts: 1-866-250-2221

So you can have both a SERO plan AND a Data plan?

What if you don't want the card thing? I like the USB 2 "card" they offered.

Yes. I've had my SERO voice plan since March 2006, and I've had my SERO data plan since September 2006.

As for picking a different card, I have no idea to be honest with you, just because of how much of a hassle my switch was.

awesome! hmm, i didn't know we get free readylink too.

05-22-2007, 02:29 AM
hmm maybe time to cancel comcast for $45 a month if its only $29 a month and if i move no problems transferring anything over with the card just move and keep using- avoid setting up a new cable internet account for $50+ service fee and $45 a month.

how would speeds compare with a rev A data card to basic comcast internet (not any of the business higher speed stuff). Just kinda worried cause my evdo treo 700wx only gets about 500-700 kbit/sec when its capable of 2.4 mbit/sec. just hoping it wont not use the full potential f the speed and be slow- rev a max's at 3.1 mbit/sec so dont wanna be getting 1/4 speed like the evdo phones and be surfing at 1 mbit/sec.

comcast consumer high-speed does up to 4mbit/sec and 384 kbit/sec uploads, so it will be comparable?

just want to it be close to comcast speed ive never used dsl but i hate slow internet.

I talked with a manager this morning. He said it was a misprint and that it would be off the site within a couple of hours. They were originally going to do this promotion and backed off. He told me I could get the 29.99 for 3 months and then it would go to the 49.99 I am on the original sero plan with 9pm free calls and they upgraded me to the 7 pm free calls and unlimited free texting for the inconvience. I have checked the site and it is gone now. Looks like the first few were the lucky ones.

Yeah, employee accounts have no idea about it either.
In fact they seem act as if I was making this up... or trying to cheat them.
Its frustrating.

Did telesales admit that it has once existed?
I started the order with them last night for the 29.99 data plan and the rep told me he couldn't finish it until the morning. They had already ran the credit check and all. Had the billing set up, etc. He found the plan but the system wasn't processing it right. He took and my number and was supposed to call in the morning. He didn't.

if anyone was able to get the plan any help would be appreciated.

MidwestDrummer

This "misprint" makes me wonder just what plan I was actually put on. Did the Employee accounts rep and his sups just get too frustrated and stick me on the actual Sprint employee data plan? I'm kind of at a loss myself.

guess what? I decided to call in eventhough the 4 reps that I spoke to in less than 24 hrs all confirmed the 29.99 existing and indeed have me signed up for as of this am!
called employee accs asked
ME:"why isn't it still not showing up online & out of curiosity what plan did they sign me up for?" ( somehow I had a feeling sprint messed up again)
rep: $49.99
aha!
Me: there should be an extensive note on my acct from a rep in your department named ______.
rep: oh yes she is actually sitting right next to me and I remember we were discussing it last night

He fixed it for me , sent me an e-mail confirmation
& said it was indeed a glitch & even when he logs on Sero it's not there for him anymore since it was corrected.
I did say that even if it were a mistake on there & only was available for 2 hrs the company has to honor it he completely agreed ;)

who else actually signed up for a new 29.99 plan & not just get their existing account changed?
I can't be the only one...

You can make a fuss if you still have the PDF demanding that it says offer valid until 6/30.

I called couple times because of dropped calls and transfer to the wrong spot.
First the guy tells me there is no suck thing and the only plans are $39 (40MB) and $59 unlimited. I argue with him about it and tells me the same thing over and over so i tell him to transfer me to another department if they can help me. Then I get transfered to a lady and she asks for me for my home address and tells me from now I will be recieving a monthly discount starting on the next 1st or 2nd billing statement, and $25 credit first bill then $59 I told no thanks and I asked her about the discount and she says I still will get a certian % for the company I work for, and I checked my work doesnt quilify(i think) she just told about the discount when I asked her for the plan and i gave her me address. Then I call back to retention and she searches and looks at my account and she says alright she can give it to me for $29 and will transfer me to choose the card and she comes back and tells me that it is actually the $39-$10 (40MB) that can be offered for $29 after her discounts and tells me emails are about one kilob and movies are 5 megs so then she tells me she'll transfer me for the card but i hang up!

So tommorro I'll try again also first time I called was regular CS and telesales.

Yes, you are correct. We have recently launched new SERO plan which
includes Free Night Starting 7pm and Free Unlimited Text Messages.

The only requirement is to sign a new 2 year subscriber agreement. As
you already agreed to sign a new 2 year agreement, therefore I have
updated your SERO plan.

Effective June 1, 2007 that is start of the next bill cycle your SERO
plan includes Free Night Minutes Starting 7pm and Free Unlimited Text

Yes, we have launched this plan. However, the Unlimited Data plan for
$29.99 has not been yet launched in all areas.

Since the account will be charged as per the old $49.99 Data plan, what
I can do from my side is that I will apply credit of $20.00, so that
account is charged as per the new data plan. Please reply back once
the
next invoice is generated and I will apply credit of $20.00 on the

Once the new data plan is launched in your area you will be notified

Yes, I am currently on the $49.99 SERO unlimited data plan.
They offered me the same deal, with a $20 credit, but it expires in 2 years. Try to get it straight up for 29.99/month

it doesn't seem that your $20 credit is recurring
?

Scoobmd

I think it's a monthly $20 credit.

What seems more interesting is that the rep indicates that the deal may come back???
or is this just more confusion on their end?

I thought I had it but they put me on the $30 SERO voice plan. She said it was the "same thing, since it also has unlimited data" I called back to find out that that isnt true. I spent so many hours on the phone fighting to get it, to no avail. I canceled it.

I called Monday and was told it was 29.99 for unlimited data so I ordered it. When I got my card on Thursday, I checked my plan online and I was charged 49.99. I called and they said they couldn't do anything about it that I could just cancel. I told them several times they should have a recording and should check, but they said they don't have a 29.99 plan so I could just cancel. So I ended up canceling it.

I ordered my card through the employee account #: 1-888-882-4030 and used the following email tristan.kime@sprint.com off of www.buzzaboutwireless.com/cms/

It came up to a total of $49.99 MRC and $99.99 with a $50 MIR for the U720 Novatel card. I e-mailed E-care Monday afternoon with the above, and they replied back early morning with the above response. My air card arrived at 11:30am Wednesday (today). I am setting it up as we speak!

So to sum it up:

This is simply ridiculous. 95% of the reps are saying that no such thing exists, but 5% of them have absolutely no trouble finding it. I find it to be flabbergasting.

I gave up on it when they took off my 20% work discount (have to wait 60 days to get 15% work discount now), and they put me on the $30 SERO voice plan, and not the 29.99 data plan. After fighting for 4 days at 3 hours a day I just gave up :(

Dear ------,

Thank you for your reply. It is good to hear from you. I am glad to be the one to help you again.

I am not able access the link provided by you in the email. However, I
got the information from other resource that, yes, Sprint is offering $29.99
Unlimited Data Plan for connection cards for SERO customers.

This requires an activation of a new line of service on the connection
card.

However, this offer is available in select markets only. It is not
available in all the markets.

Considering your loyal service with us, I have activated the $29.99 Unlimited Data Plan on your account.
Further I have added a reoccurring credit for $29.99.
You will now enjoy all the benefits of the Unlimited Data Plan completely without charge. How about that?
Keep in mind that there is a .20 cent charge for voice usage.

I have also made arrangements to have the AirCard 595U shipped out to you. You will see a credit on your account for $279.99. When your order is processed, this credit will be used toward the purchase price.

Thank you for emailing us. Have a great day!

You’ve helped me before with my account questions. I have some questions regarding SERO and a limited promotion.

Here is the PDF file regarding the SERO promotion.

29/sero_redesign/SERO_details.pdf)

There seems to be a lot of confusion with it. Some reps know about it, most don’t. The ones that do, can’t seem to figure out how to activate the offer.

Here are my questions.

1. Is this a legit promotions?
2. If so, what steps do I need to take, to take advantage of it?
3. If not, Do I qualify for any promotion pricing on the unlimited data plans?
4. Is the offer limited to just the air cards listed on the sero site? I like the AirCard 595U personally.

Thanks for your time. You’ve been stellar in the past when resolving my issues.

I’ll be sure to fill out the survey if they send me one.

I dunno. I live in Los Angeles (626) area code. Keep hitting up e-care to see if you can get it. It doesn't hurt if you always pay your bill on time, and refer a lot off customers to Sprint as well!
