You always need to sign a new contract to change your plan. Add-ons like SMS, TEP, etc don't require this, but changing your core plan always does. Why should SERO be any different? Just so you know, that extends your contract to two years, it doesn't add two years onto your remaining contract.

i was told change your plan after the 1st 3 months requires a new contract. but as long as you change your plan within the 1st three months there is no contract extension

Besides, sticking with Sprint for 6 more months due to the contract renewal isn't too bad considering you double your minutes for about $19 more...

This is true. It is part of Sprint's Right Plan Promise, or something like that.
