Hello all,

I am a LONG time ago former customer (almost 10 years ago) and considering coming back.

I currently have a 2 line family plan with TMo.

Am I able to get 2 SERO lines? what is the best SERO promotion going on right now? Can someone offer me a referral, as I am really looking forward to rejoining the Sprint family, although it has to be cost effective for me.

Thanks! :)

if you are out of contract is a bit easier then my situation. apply online for the Sero plan at the current website. once you get confirmation then u can port or migrate your numbers to a different provider. once you get your phones with new numbers you can port or migrate your old numbers to new phones. done
hope this helps,

Hey jcarlitos - I've been sifting through the posts and trying to make sense out of all the gobs of information out there. I'm a current long-time Sprint customer, I want Sero and I want to keep my current Sprint phone number. I'm out of contract. Can you tell me if I understand you correctly? This is how I understand what you're saying...

1. Apply online for a completely new Sero account with a new phone (I want a Palm Centro.)

2. Once I get my new Centro with my new Sero acount then I should port my old existing Sprint number to, say, a cheap pre-paid. (Will this automatically cancel my old non-Sero Sprint account?)

3. Once I get my shiny new cheap pre-paid phone with my old Sprint number on it I should...

4. Port my prepaid number to my Sero phone, thus winding up with my current phone number on my new Sero phone and Sero account and cancelling my pre-paid service.

Do I have the sequence of events in the right order? I'm trying hard to do it right the first time without losing my current phone number. Thanks for any help or suggestions you might have.

hi Bachbear
yes u do. make sure you apply for the Sero plan first at www.sprint.com/sero. the website site will show u what models can be used. u will need two emails one to get into the website and the other to sign up for the plan, an employee email. once its confirmed i would wait a couple of days then port your number to a pre-paid. once you get your new phone with number call them make to port your number. hope this helps and works for you. i believe this should work for you. thumbs up.

My two year fair & flex family contract is up in May. When I signed up for it, our sprint account (out of contract) had been in my wifes name. I found a good deal for free phones, etc. on ebay and signed up in my name to get the new customer discounts. Now when this contract expires, I would like to sign up for two SERO lines in my wifes name again (to be eligible as a new customer). This worked before thru ebay. Will I have any problems this time around signing up for SERO?

Also, I could not find the list of qualifying SERO devices @ sprint.com/sero.

I've lurked for quite a period of time and found email addresses to use to sign up for SERO. I've noticed (and found through this thread (http://www.sprintusers.com/forum/showthread.php?t=160363&highlight=sero)) that Tristan's email address no longer works and when I use the other email address I had the site tells me it's no longer valid.

My contract ends at the end of July. I was hoping to use one of those email addresses then. Does anyone know what happened? Is SERO more exclusive now?

a few days ago i started a new account with SERO through the website. i used savings@sprintemi.com to get in and it worked fine. ordered an htc touch, new number, sero 500 plan. the phone should come tomorrow, ill let you all know if it works. on my sprint account online it says it went through, that i have the F&F sero 500 plan so i assume it worked. crossing my fingers, haha.

I have the same problem except. I have a Family Plan with 2 lines. The first phone is under contract until Jan. 2009. The second phone is not on contract ( and actually the person using that line wants to get a new phone, which was poss. after 5/2007). It seems from the thread that I can move over the second phone line to SERO which I may try. But the first phone line I don't want to pay a cancellation fee. Also I wonder, I want to keep the same phone for the second line but want the change the phone number on the first line. Does anyone have any suggestions? (I hope that was not confusing)

So I guess I'm asking for anyone,.. who works for sprint for help. Do I sign up online? If so can someone please provide me with a VALID, LEGIT email address? And not the *@sprintemi.com, etc. I would REALLY appreciate it! Thank you for taking the time to read my post.

I'm looking to purchase my first cell phone (looking at the Centro). During my research about phones and carriers, I discovered SERO.

Many places suggest using the *@sprintemi.com address, and I went to the site and it worked. Though, now I read your post stating "not the *@sprintemi.com address.

My question is, why is this address bad? What happens if you place and order with this address?

The SERO 500 plan seems *unbelievably* cool.

Yes, you can access the SERO site and place an order with that email, but when they do an audit of the account, they'll stick you on a basic 200 minute plan instead of SERO. That's not so savvy.

aha! I knew it was too good to be true. Why accept that address to allow people to view what they cannot have, then? That's like dangling candy in front of a little kid and taunting: "lookie what I got!" And then eating it all.

And actually, I WAS considering at their basic 200 plan before I read about SERO. It is the least expensive plan I've seen anywhere.

ah well, the old adage: if it seems to good to be true, it probably is. *shrug* <sigh>

(I didn't actually order the phone, I just tried the address out of curiousity.)

Just curious - do you know anyone personally who this happened to? It seems pretty silly for Sprint to accept this address to place an order if they don't want people to use it.

Doubt they'll do that. If they did try to knock you down it would seem that you could get out without an ETF. There are many email addys you can use. When I had a boost mobile account I was able to use my boost mobile email address. Try blowme@boostmobile.com No disrespect but it really works and I just confirmed it 1 min ago.

The only reason I know about it is because this is just a sample of some SU'ers SERO horror stories. That's not to say that your account is going to go through the audit as some others have. It's all luck of the draw. If I were to invest myself for two years, I wouldn't use anything but a rock-solid email.

I've searched through SU and can't find an answer to this.

If I want to sign up for SERO but keep my existing phone. Basically want SERO just for the good plan. How does it work?

Is buying a new phone a requirement for SERO signup? If so, can I buy the cheapest possible phone and then re-activate my old phone (treo). I figure I can sell the new phone for close to what I paid.

BTW, I'm OOC, so no issues with that.

Thanks in advance!

you have to buy a new phone to get the sero plan...It is a requirement. Personally if you can sign uo for a new plan then i would get the free one the offering right now and then just switch to your old phone after a couple days..

Technically yes you need to get a new phone.. but only because you are supposed to only be able to get SERO from the site. But as the last few SERO plans will show... a simple call to the right CS person will get you set up with your current phone. I got SERO on my 3 phones that way. Had my DLX that I bought from the Sprint store a month prior.... plus a RAZR that I got on ebay .and a third sanyo phone that I got on ebay.

Unless things have changed since a year ago.

I'd just call and tell them that a friend mentioned SERO to you and you wanted to know more about it and how to get it. If the CS knows how to do it, he/she will hook you up. If they say "you need to go on the site" then just call back later.

I just signed up for the sero plan this month and they are more strict now i guess because I had to beg and plead and finally got the tech support team to change it,.. everyone that I talked to said you had to do it on the website... Even the tech support person that helped me finally got her supervisor to change it buy telling them that I would just cancel my contract and reapply under the sero website so they changed it since I am with in my 30 days

Thanks for the response. I think they're getting tougher these days, so i will not bother with calling reps & begging as someone else suggested. i saw this horror story on this forum of a 10+ yr customer who couldn't get them to budge for free txt.:dazed:

they are tougher! i called retentions the other day because i had some problems with roaming not showing up on a line they offered. but anywho i have 500 free txt on mine and unlimited on this other line which i dont use anymore. so i ask if they could just swap the unlimited on to mine and he said no sir..we dont do that anymore..it's going to be 10 bucks. :frustrate

on a completely diff note, i signed up for SERO for an ADDITIONAL line..2 weeks ago..used the savings@sprint email and everything is ok so far. got the phone (centro) the NEXT day and activated it and so far they havent downgraded me or anything yet.

ok i just called them again about texting and the guy said they dont have the unlimited code anymore..

he took off the unlimited code and tried to put it on the line i wanted and then he was like oops..its not working and i cant put it back on the line it was on. i was like uh. he is like i will just give you 1000 free on both or unlimited for 7.50.

i dont use my unlimited anyway on these 2 lines. so i just took the 1000 for now.

thank God for the sero plan. haha gotta love unlimited data/text.

just so i am not confusing you guys i have 2 accounts

1 sero account with a centro.

another normal account with 5 lines.
main line - had 500 txt, wanted the unlimited from line 2, but now has 1000.
line 2 - had unlimited, but now 1000 also.

Same here. I ordered the SERO 500 plan with a Centro 4/17/08 and received and activated it the night of 4/18/08. I used savings@sprintemi.com.

No issues.

Who here has been downgraded? I've only read people saying they "read horror stories" online. But no first-person accounts of horror.

Why would they not be able to give you free unlimited texting when it's listed as part of the perks on website, valid until 5/31? I don't understand why they wouldn't be abe to put it back on.

I hate plan renewal. Reviewing options with my husband. He's asking their business rep at Sprint if he would be willing to refer me for SERO (had it 2 years ago and retentions talked me out of canceling my number. All credits they gave me to "mimic" a SERO plan are gone and I'm back to square one) Anyway, if their bus rep will agree to refer me, I assume I should call retentions and cancel my lines first? I don't want double lines for three of us (one line doesn't expire until 6/08 so I will just leave it alone for now). I am willing to get new phones and new numbers. Like I said, should have done this two years ago, but my bad. If I can't get the referral, I'll just make the best of it with the plans a few folks here have recommended, but I want to try to get a legit referral before I reup for another plan.

hi, I ordered 2 phones from Sprint using the SERO program, I will receive them next week, I am confused about the "unlimited text messaging" it says it will expire on May 31, 2008, so does that mean I have till May 31, 2008 to activate the phones in order for me to have "unlimited text messaging" for the entire length of my 2 year contract(5-31-08 till 5-31-2010)? there will not be any charges at all for text messaging after may 31, 2008? also, if I renew my SERO plan in May 31, 2010, will I still have all the features of the SERO plan that I selected when I first activated the phones including "unlimited text messaging"?

I would like to also keep my 2 phone #'s that I have right now with my existing Sprint account, it will expire on May 27,2008, what is the best way to go about switching the 2 #'s to the 2 new phones that I ordered? I was thinking of activating the 2 new phones on May 27 and while activating with the Sprint rep, I can tell the rep to switch my 2 existing phone #'s to the 2 new phones and canceling my existing account and keep the SERO plan of course, good way to do it?

also, right now I have the government discount of 25% off the monthly service plan because I am an United States Postal employee, can I apply that discount to my SERO plans? who and what phone # do I call to ask for that discount? thank you for all the help from a newbie :p

if sprint refuses to transfer your number from existing a/c to SERO (and there is a very good chance that they will), you can port your numbers to a pre-paid service such as ATT gophone and then port back from there to SERO a/c. it's a minor PITA, but it works. search this forum for "porting from gophone" for more details.

when you say there is a very good chance that they will, which way to you mean? yes they would transfer the #'s or no they will not transfer the #'s? also, I didn't know that they activated the phones before sending them to me, I ordered them on their SERO website, so the #'s are given to me already and the phones are set up as well, I guess I'll wait till the 27th and call the tech department and see if they could transfer my existing #'s

SERO always says that, last one expired Feb.21, 99.99% sure they will keep unlimited text, it's a staple of SERO. I would be very, very, very surprised if they didn't keep it.

It would be based on when you order it. If you go through the order process now, you'll see that the texting is included. They wouldn't take it away just because you haven't yet activated your phone. However, if you order it now, you'll most likely receive it before the 31st anyway. Most likely, you have nothing to worry about it anyway as the date of the offer will probably be extended again.

Roaming would be listed on the features "tab" in the billing system, you will have to call and ask, but if you just signed up you have it, as SERO only has one "type" of plan (but does offer different minute levels) and does not offer a non-roaming option.

I am not technically a Sprint customer cause the phone is in my sisters name. I recently started paying the bill myself a few months ago after she lost her job. Do you think if I start a SERO account in my own name I could keep my number. My contract ends early August.(I've had it for 4 years and I absolutely love it.)

You would need to do the port out/port in described earlier in the thread.

I received word from someone at Sprint that the SERO program is really closing July 13! Word is it will be transitioned back to an employee referral program and you will need more than an employee email to get in.

If you wait two weeks, you'll find out. No one here is going to be able to confirm anything. Regardless of what someone posts -- sprint employee or not -- the only way to know for sure is to wait and see.

The only rumor I've heard is that the SERO plans will be changing on July 13 to allow SERO customers to get the Instinct. But again, who knows for sure.

May SERO rest in peace. It is dead, now the referral offer is for 500 min @ $59.99. Glad I already have it, now if they just do not screw around and try and not allow us to continue the plan when out of contract.

i highly doubt that they would change prices on the existing SERO customers...i still have their free and clear plan and sprint got rid of that plan 2 yrs ago.

I did a search for this, and I know Sprint Mobile Email Desktop Connector is included on the new plans, but does anyone know if this is included in the old $30 / $50 plans?

I think it was $50 unlimited. then they put a 5gig cap on it. I dont think you can convert any longer. Be careful, you dont give up your SERO plans. They will be very hard to get back if at all.

Well, I didn't want to post against the rules about Transfer of Liability, but I don't think there is any way I will be getting 1000 posts for $2000 SU anytime soon anyway. Can anyone help me out in getting a SERO plan? Or send me some advice? Please speak into my can, i'll keep the string tight.
