I have never had vision added to my plan before because I thought it was too expensive. Now that I am renewing my contracting again, I have been debating adding it. I went on Sprint's website and looked up vision, and I am still not sure what exactly you can really do on/with it...and I was thinking of getting the katana which I think can only have vision, but not power vision??? Any help is greatly appreciated :)

Well if you do a lot of downloading ringers, games and apps. Or use your phone's internet to view your account online Vision is good to get. It'll keep you from getting charged 3cents per KB.

Vision Is Slow Internet Speed Web Browsing On Your Phone. Power Vision Is High Speed Internet Browsing Along With TV and Music.

Goodgyrl is right. If you get vision for your Katana, you can send and receive all the data you can eat. Unlimited picture messaging, unlimited web access to all the websites you want to look at, and download all the ringers (as long as they're QCP format) and pictures you want. I would suggest you get a good web browser as the built-in browser isn't all that good at looking at the web. Opera Mini does a good job.

I have the Katana and it's Vision only, not Powervision. The good side of that, is the Katana gets great reception so your data flows at a surprisingly good rate. And the Bluetooth works well if you have a wireless headpiece.

I have unlimited vision for my Katana and I couldn't live without it. The screen is 320x240 so more text can be displayed on the screen. You can also use vision to check your email and log on to instant messenger. My plan also gives me 100 text messages per month and a $10 download credit for games, apps, etc.

Ctrl_Alt_Del: How do you use vision to send picture messages? Is there an addition fee associated with this?

If you already have Vision, there's no extra charge to send or receive pictures. That's what Vision is for. It also includes all-you-can-eat data from surfing the web, downloading stuff...you get the idea.

If you want to send a picture, just press the camera button on your keypad, press number 2, and then press OK. Find the picture you want to send, press OK to place a checkmark in it, and then press the soft menu key to Send. Then send to "Recipients". This is where you put in the phone number OR e-mail address. Just arrow down to the right selection and put in the number or e-mail address.

Follow the prompts from there.

Edit: If you want to send picturemail with text, press the Menu key, select Messaging, and then option 3. Now press the soft menu key for Compose. You can either use "From My Pictures" or "Take Picture" and then follow the directions in the above paragraph. The prompts will lead you to where you can input the subject and text.

When I select send, I get the following message, "To gain access, add Sprint PCS Picture Mail to your Sprint PCS Service Plan. A $5.00/mo service charge (plus taxes and fees) will be added to your Sprint PCS Invoice." The only reason I can think of is that I am still using the Vision plan I got with my old cell phone about 2 years ago, which wasn't a camera phone, which costs $5/month. Since it didn't have a camera, it probably didn't include Picture Mail. Is there any way to send picture mail for a per message fee (like texting with out a plan)?

Unfortinatly, no. You could ask to see if they can switch you over to the $5 Vision Pictures Pack but that package is very old and rare. You may just have to switch to a different Vision plan all together.

I'd call sprint and ask them what your vision includes and see if they can upgrade it for free.

I should do that. If I can't, it's not worth $5 to send 2 or 3 pics per month.

i do a lot with my power vision but you can do the same stuff with regular vision too like update sports scores when a game isn't on tv, check movie times, check the weather, get directions from mapquest, check my minutes and other account info. it's very convenient to have vision especially if you're not always near a computer.

I recommend Vision / Powervision to everyone! Two years ago, I would have said it is a waste of money and the service is not one that I would benefit from, but now I have it, I could not do without it. It is so nice to be able to surf the net (using Opera Mini) and stay connected with all my email accounts on the go. I personally use my internet browser on my phone more than my computer for browsing the internet most days of the week.

If you are on the fence about which phone you are going to choose, I would consider getting a Powervision phone (as the data speeds are a lot faster). The Sanyo M1 seems to be a hit among the Sanyo owners. Whatever phone you choose, I would definitely get a data package.

Thanx for the explanations :) I just upgraded to the SERO plan which has powervision included!!! I just feel a little silly for getting the Katana since it only supports vision, not powervision...
