Hopefully some SU veterans can help with the following.
It may also help other SU members when deciding to switch to SERO plan and actions to take.
In my case, Family plan $70 800 minutes contract expired. 3rd line $10 add a line.
$5 NW 7pm ($5 credits expires with contract). $5 vision plans for line 2 and 3(100 text messages ,unlimited picture mail and $5 download credits.) No free roaming.
Total cost is $90 less 5% loyalty discount (no expiration) ,less 10% loyalty discount expires with the expiration date.
Basically after the expiration date total cost = $95 less 5% loyalty = $90.25 plus taxes
Phones are also eligible for upgrades currently.
Questions/steps to take:
1) Extend the current Family plan first and get the phone upgrades then switch over to SERO after receiving the phones OR
2) Switch over to SERO and get the phones there(very limited choices) at the price listed on SERO website. Are the current phone upgrades eligibility honored in the SERO ?
3) Switching to SERO plan for all 3 lines will cost me $90 total and get more services(roaming,7pm ,vision plan and now unlimited text messages) and minutes.
However, can the loyalty discounts be carried over to the SERO account?
Advantage of SERO is I do not have to negotiate the perks every time I renew my contract like my free 7pm or loyalty discounts since Sprint started putting expiration dates on them.
Btw, I do have referral from a Sprint employee (a friend). What is the best phone number to call?
Thanks in advance for input.

I'm currently trying to get something similar done. Most reps will tell you that SERO is only for new lines. Because of this, you will not be able to get any of the SERO phone deals.
The business line took care of me well. Still working on the phone upgrade though.

Your questions are best suited for the following existing thread: SERO......... Attempts at getting the plan (http://www.sprintusers.com/forum/showthread.php?t=125162)

It is not getting the plan that is the problem because I do have a referral of a friend who works for Sprint. It is the logistic of switching over to SERO plan i.e. when to upgrade phone, renew current plan first? or switch over to SERO and get phones from SERO. All this because I am current out of contract and also eligible for the 22 months phone upgrade. Have to take advantage of that before switching to Sero?
Previously my apprehension of switching to SERO was no loyalty discounts and no Free text messages. Currently there is free text messages included until June 30.

I'm just trying to keep duplicate/clutter threads to a minimum. "Attempts at getting the plan" is an umbrella title:
- Getting a referral
- Getting the plan through the Sprint.com/SERO
- Having an existing line, currently under contract, converted to a SERO plan
- Upgrading a line and converting to a SERO plan.

not meaning to prolong the thread if it should be in the main thread, but...
i'm running into a problem related to this. i was out of contract and the sprint store reps told me i would qualify for the same rebates, discounts and web specials that a new customer would. since i wanted to renew with a sero plan, i went through that first since it seemed like it'd be easier to accomplish out of contract than with a brand new renewal.
now i have sero 500 with a 2 year agreement. i tried to get the samsung m300 with my discounts and they now only want to give me $150 bucks off instead of getting it for free. i was able to talk some reps into giving me a $30 service credit to cover the $30 that i'm going to have to spend out of pocket. it sucks that i still have to pay out of pocket though.
if i didn't get that credit, i would have asked to revert my plan back to the previous one, without a contract. i would ask to have the plan i had written to my account. then i would see if i could upgrade my phone out of contract and get the deals i would have. then i'd call and ask for that plan to be put back on. seems like it would have worked. ah well.

If your out of contract and have a valid SERO referal (or can get retentons to set you up for SERO) you should be eligible for new customer pricing.
As linked above, the SERO thread for "attempts at getting the plan" is the right thread for this type of question.
