I've been a sprint user for a while, and until recently I haven't noticed how much I text, because usually I dont text that much. I had 600 free texts per month (500 free + 100 incl. in my grandfather vision plan)

and i was checking my text usage for this month and it was at 760!!!!

i know for a fact i have not sent that many texts, like my previous high was 400, and that was because i was unable to make out going calls b/c of some network issues, so i had to text anyone to communicate when i was away from a computer.

so my question was, does sprint also now charge for incoming messages too? and is this a new policy, b/c i dont remember them doing so in the past. I send texts to my mom frequently, and while she doesn't have a texting plan, i haven't really seen any charges. can someone clarify? or will i have to switch to unlimited texting? any help is appreciated.

I got unlimited texting for $20.00 with 3 lines. An yeah Sprint totals up both out going and incoming sms texts. i average around 50,000 a month.

Sprint has charged for incoming and outgoing texts for as long as I can remember. I would get an unlimited text message plan before paying overages as that can get expensive.

As far as I remember, incoming and outgoing both carried a charge although I think one used to be cheaper than the other ($.10 for outgoing and $.02 for incoming - I may be wrong on that. It has been awhile). Now both incoming and outgoing are billed at $.15 unless they are covered under a text messaging plan which counts both incoming and outgoing against your monthly total.
