View Full Version : UNLMT text now a part of Sero plan untill 6/30/07 and a Question :)

Check out the sero website!

Now my Q is....

i got unlimited text free as a perk for the length of my current contract
should I even bother calling in to make it a part of my current plan to make it easier for when it comes to renewing and possibly getting perks?

Does this mean if we switch to the new SERO plan on July 1st we will be charged, or do we have unlimited text forever, but the people who sign up for SERO after July 1st are out of luck.

PS. I thanks for the info, I also saw your post on Slickdeals, isnt it a great site?

UNLIMITED TEXT ...does that mean u get text from now until 6/30/07 or does it mean that anyone who signs up by 6 /30 gets unlimited text for entire contract??

Just when I thought this plan couldnt get any better. I'm on hold with sprint right now, but she seems pretty clueless as to what SERO is, so I may be out of luck, but I'll keep trying.

The first rep hung up on me, and the second rep is just as clueless. I might have a ton of notes by the time I get this switched, but with this I will have the perfect plan. I got transfered around and the second and third reps were just as clueless. So then the rep said account services could help me, but wouldnt give the phone number, so he transfered me to them, and they were closed. I'll wait till other people have success, then ill try.

Wow, the rep I signed up with yesterday mentioned that I would get free texts but I thought she was mistaken.
I guess I was the one mistaken....

How about the people already using SERO? Can they call and ask for the free texts, or would they have to renew for another two years? Or is it not available to current SERO customers?(P.S. I dont have SERO, just asking for the others)

I'd say give it a try since sero includes the text, vision, minutes for a great rate instead of trying to negotiate for each single perk and then having to renew them when a perk expires...

But be prepared to do a lot of calling!

Just try telling that to the Mods. I dont know why I'm really excited about this, I only send about 150 messages a month, and thats free until Feb., but the though of knowing I have no limits is just awesome. Time to get a phone with a better keyboard (6800 anybody)(and maybe some more friends)

Now for the million dollar question. Why are they doing this? I dont think they woke up today and decided to be nice. Seeing how it isn't officially open to the public, this really wont draw in many people. I really don't see how this benefits sprint. Even if it was open to the public offically, nobody besides us techies would even know about it.

retention 866 881 9571 The lady I spoke to was very nice. She told me that she had just learned 5 minutes before I called how to add the unlimited. the caller right before me told her the code to add it. So it sounds like some reps may not know how to add it. IT may take a few tries. I tried calling * 2 on my phone and that person told me to cancel my order and reorder through website ( which is incorrect). Good luck

Well, I just called Sprint and was told that the unlimited text promotion is only free for 1 month only. The rep. I talked to said I see it on your account and it is only free for 1 month. :(

Is this true? If it is, does anyone know the code in the system to either get it free or at a reduced rate?

By the way, I signed up for my plan two days ago.

Thanks in advance.

this is the best number to call ( no waiting  )

and if you don't get it on the first try keep trying

All I said was that Sero now includes free text messaging I want that to be a part of my plan & if he can add it ( I already had free unlimited on one line and 2 lines with free 500 untill the end of my current contract and one of them doesn't even text lol) I just wanted that to be a part of my plan and not an additional added feature.

ok so i just called for my friend's plan ( she also had free unlmt added on for the length of the contract )
the guy said he doesn't need to do anything to her account since the feature is on there already but I repeated myself a few times asking if that feature will expire he said no & it's a part of the plan now indefinitely :deal:

Just to confirm....This is not temporary free or Promotional Free......It is infact included in the price of the new SERO plan its not an add-on...

Get on it while the getting good 6/30 will be here before you know it.

"Sero... attempts at getting it" -
What would I bet "attempting" if I had a valid offer/referal and simply used the website ?

THAT thread (have read most of it) is a "call *2 until you get agent willing to sign you up" - NOT "I have a valid offer" or "the sero plan includes what perks?"

Why not reorg the forums to have a "sero only" section? Is signing up for Sero really a "tip" or a "trick" if you have a valid and legitimate offer from a Sprint emp?

(IMHO)

Here's my email and their reply

Dear Goodgyrl,

Thank you for contacting Sprint regarding your concern about Text Messaging. I will be glad to assist you.

Currently we do not offer Free Unlimited Text Messages. However, considering your valuable association with us, I have added 500 Text Messaging option for free on the line 804******* effective May 19, 2007. You will receive 500 Text Messages for free every month.

The charge of the 500 Text Messaging option is $8.00. As I have added this option for free, you will save $96.00 ($8.00 * 12 = $96.00) every year.

Thank you for contacting us, we were happy to assist you. Please feel free to write back if you have any other questions. Have a great day!

I have a few friends that are on the Sero plan and they said they got
unlimited text added for free. Is there anyway that I can get this added in place
of the 300 text that I currently get for $5?

no..you should say Unlimited Text now comes with Sero plans and you want to add it to your sero plan or something like that... forget about the email... call Employee Accounts tomorrow and report back... :fingers:

if you've recently signed up with SERO, here's one way to word your request:

"hi, i was just checking online and noticed my account says i pay $5 for 300 text messages. i checked on the main sprint SERO page and it says my plan is supposed to have free unlimited text messages. i just wanted to make sure i wasn't getting charged for something my plan includes."

when i called, i had to direct the rep to where to look for it. it IS kind of hard to see if you've been staring at the sero site for days at a time.

Dear ecare-

Please add the following code to my account:

#C SERO SMS UNL $0

The sero plans now include unlimited texting at no additional cost. A *2 rep gave me the code and said to contact ecare. He said he was unable to make changes to my account since it is a SERO plan.

Dont give up. Tons of people have gotten this very very easy. You never know when your usage will increase, and this is good forever. If sprint decides to cut down on benefits in the future, you may not be able to keep 500 free when it expires in 2 years. Plus this isnt a credit, where the 500 text is, so without a credit showing up on other bills FIMF and 6pm nights should be easier to get. If nothing else, your SU's signature can look that much cooler, isnt that alone worth it?

I'm glad people are learning about employee accounts. They've been the dept (from the beginning) trained to deal with Sero! They have their OWN retention dept. too. I first found out about them over a year ago on THIS site! :hee:

I emailed eCare as I started my account 20 days ago and they said they added it no problem. They advised it should show up under my plan details after 4 hours.....4 hours have come and gone but I don't see a change to my plan detail (and there is still a $5 for 500 messages feature on there). I cannot view my usage either as it states a change has been made to my plan. Should I wait it out?

I called acct. services today and they added unlimited texting to my account!
so I got unlim. text, free cell service for 4 months and a 34$/mo. bill with 15% corp. discount

Unlimited Text is a huge thing for me - I text my friends and girlfriend a lot (and get a ton of messages from them too) and came close to hitting my 500 cap. Unlimited text, EvDO and 250 more minutes was too tempting for me.

Called Retentions and asked if I could move to the SERO 1250 plan. The rep was extremely nice (kudos to Sprint!) and the changes will come into effect at my next bill cycle. Cool part is - I get to keep my 13% corp discount too! All in all, I'll be paying about $5 more a month. I can't argue with that.

"I was looking on the SERO site today and" she cut me off
"Unlimited free texting?"
"Yep! I guess you guys are getting alot of calls"
chuckle "Yes we are. You would like to add this to your account?"
"Please"
"One moment sir" 2 minutes go by.."OK sir I've added that for you. I also backdated it to your last billing cycle for you. Is there anything else I can do for you?"
"Nope. And thats for my entire contract correct?"
"Yes sir."
"OK! Thanks a bunch!"

Less than 10 minutes for me.

Call employee accounts - 866-250-2221

To double check that your texting has indeed been changed to unlimited, go to the "usage details" section. Under text messages remaining it should now say "unlimited" if the CS reps did it correctly.

OR

On your phone, go to the homepage for Sprint Power Vision, click on My Account, then click on Plan Overview. Scroll down and you should see UNLIMITED SMS MESSAGES.

Wierd. Retentions had no problem moving me from my 1000min/$40 plan to the SERO 1250 plan. I called employee accounts to verify the move and the Retentions rep did not put the unlimited text on the account. Good thing I called back. Though I'm a tad worried about losing my corp discount. That would make me want to trade down to a less expensive phone and get rid of my insurance.

Anyway...if you have to, call retentions.

no, I tried Ecare since that was how I got my Sero account. I'll try employee accounts or tech support tomorrow. If not I'll leave it alone and keep the 500 text. It's better than the 300 text that I was paying $5 for. :wavey: thanks.

That's exactly where I am. Obviously unlimited for free is better than 500 for free, but I feel like there's something to be said for just letting it be -- I've already got a great perk. Hmmmm....to call or not to call.

EDIT: After reading the rest of the thread, it definitely appears that ecare is not going to be giving this "perk" out even though it's clearly within their abilities, as it falls under the code for an actual plan.

I just called Employee Services. After 15 mins of wait time, I got a rep on the phone. I told her that Cust Care had informed me that unlimited text messaging was now free for the plan I'm on. She pulled up my account and saw that I had a SERO account. She said text messaging is indeed free Sero now and asked if I would liked her to add it to my account. I said yes. Within less than a minute she was done. 15 min wait + 2 mins of chat time = free unlimited text messaging. =DDDDD

I believe if they change the details of your Sero plan that you may not need to renew your contract, it should only happen if you change one sero minutes plan to another (a change in the core plan).

Once your contract expires, the current sero plan should stay in effect until you do something to renew your contract. So I don't think you will have to renew or need to renew for these small changes...

There is a code out there for the rest of you. I used to have it, before SERO. It's hard to pry it though, and only retentions has it

The code gives you texting for $8, then a monthly reoccuring $8 credit, making it free :deal:

I called this evening ( 10 minutes ago) and used the employee accounts number that psixichka posted in this thread. I asked if I could get the free text messaging on my SERO account since it is now included in the plan.

A very nice CS rep said to me "no problem since it is now free on Sero accounts". She asked me to wait while she took off the code of the text messaging plan I had been paying for and added the free code to my account.

I can not believe I got it so easily!!

Does adding unlimited text to your SERO account extend your 2-year contract? I ask because I need my sister to get it as well! She's been on SERO for 6 months now.

And I got the unlimited text as well since I just signed up for SERO a few days ago and making a call to Employee Accounts.

Never even use more than 200 texts a month....but hey....aint nothing better than FREE :)

I was very concerned about this so instead of calling in, I e-mailed eCare instead so that I would have something in writing from a Sprint eCare representative. I made sure to clearly state I did not want my contract extended to have the unlimited text added and to not add the feature if it required contract renewal. They promptly wrote back, added the feature, and clearly stated in their reply that my contract would not be renewed because of the addition. :)

I called retentions and they gave me unlimited texting for $8 plus a $5 credit for customer loyalty. So unlimited texting for $3. I am on the family plan not the sero plan so I think I got a pretty good deal.

I understand that the newest SERO plans now offer "free unlimited text" text messaging. I would appreciate it if this could be added to my account as well.

I hope this can be accomplished without extending the terms of my current contract, but if I need to renew, I will. I greatly appreciate your time and asistance.

Question for you experts:

My wife and I currently both have phones on a family plan, is there any way we can convert these to 2 SERO plans without paying the cancellations? I called the SERO # and the rep said he could give me the sero, but we would have to start 2 new lines and pay etf's on the original lines. Our contracts don't expire until 9/2008. Any advice would be appreciated.

What would he be canceling? Get him to call retentions and ask them about the Sero plan.

Not sure how true it is but I was told by a Sprint rep that if you cancel you have to wait 3 months to reopen a line with them. Also is he eligible for another line? If so it might would be easier if he opened the new line with Sero and then canceled the other line without having to pay the ETF.

Yea, I think I used like 11 different Sprint phones last year. About 3 or 4 of the phones on that last I only used like a week or two and went to the shack to swapped to another phone, because I couldnt find the right phone for me. Hello everyone

I'm asking for opinions. I have the SERO 500 plan that had night and weekends starting at 9:00pm. I was given unlimited text messages for $8 with a recurring $8 dollar credit and nights and weekends starting at 6:00pm for $10 with a $10 recurring credit.

I found out that my 6pm nights and weekend code expires in 2008 but there is no expiration date on my free unlimited text messages.

With the SERO 500 plan now including unlimited text messages as part of the plan and 7pm for nights and weekend I'm not sure if I should switch to the new SERO plan which would require I extend my contract for another 2 years (I'm 6 months into my contract)

Any thoughts on the subject?

Thanks
Rusty.

3) i have $10 unlimited texts, i'm wondeering if its worth to risk the upgrade is this is only temporary.

SERO will expire Dec. 31, 2007, although it could be extended further, or indefinetly
2) is the free unlimited text forever (as long as sero is valid)?
If its added correctly before June 30th, its good as long as you have SERO. Beging July 1st, It will be impossible to add.
3) i have $10 unlimited texts, i'm wondeering if its worth to risk the upgrade is this is only temporary.
As stated above, this is good forever. Its well worth the risk.
4) anyway to get a 755p for reasonable price? (100-200 bucks)
If you are eligable for an upgrade, you can get a decent price. Depending on conditions, retentions might give you a good deal. Ebay would also have them cheaper, but no where near as cheap as 200.

They switched me over with no questions asked..

Dear Malinda Scott,

Thank you for contacting Sprint. I will be happy to assist you regarding your Sero plan.

~~ Sero Plan ~~

I have accessed and updated your Sero plan to include free 7 p.m. night & weekend minutes and free unlimited text messages effective May 29, 2007, when your next billing cycle begins.

Please be assured, these features will remain with your new Sero plan for as long as you keep it, as the additional features will not expire.

Also, you will continue to receive free 6 p.m. night & weekend minutes until July 18, 2008. Once the monthly recurring credit of $10.00 expires for your 6 p.m. night & weekend minutes, you will be billed $10.00 for this feature each month.

If you do not wish to be billed the $10.00 for your 6 p.m. night & weekend minutes, please be sure to contact us on or before July 18, 2008 to remove this from your service.

Once the free 6 p.m. night & weekend minutes are expired from your account and you remove the $10.00 feature, your plan will continue to have free 7 p.m. night & weekend minutes.

I trust this information has been helpful.

~~ We're Here To Help ~~

Question: I am currently on a sero plan that my friend who works for sprint referred me to. I am wondering how hard it is to change sero plans. The one I have come with everything the new one comes with but the new one has nights starting at 7 and unlimited texting for free. Currently I have those two for free but it's only for two years and I plan to be with sprint longer than two years. So, how would I go about getting my sero plan changed to the new one?

I just talked to a rep earlier this morning. He said I can get the plan but I have to cancel my other plan and return my moto Q. Since I just got the Moto Q, he says they won't charge me the early disconnection fee ($200). I loose my # but will be paying a whole lot less $ per month

okay, i've asked for free texting before, and they kept saying no. i finally gave up and had them add the $15 a month plan, because i didnt feel like paying $25 extra for 200 messages! now that my bill is completely screwed up, its over $100 for two phones, both on sero 500!

is it still possible to get the unlimited texting for free with this? should i email ecare, or just try calling tomorrow?

Try (866)250-2221 tomorrow. It's the CS for employee accounts. They are very knowledgeable on Sero ins and outs. They should be able to add the unlimited text to your Sero plan.
Now, why do you have $100+ for your 2 plans? Text + Insurance? It seems awfully high.

that was my point. it IS awefully high, and i dont even have insurance on either of my lines. hopefully this will straighten it out. i emailed them last night, and i just got the email back. they added it to both my lines, and gave me a credit back! my line is all screwed up, and wont let me see my usage (very annoying, have NO clue how many minutes ive used) but my mom's line now says it includes unlimited texting, and there's no additional charge!!! sprint officially rocks, as of this moment. if my bill doesnt come down, i dont know what i'll do...because i just cant afford this much! thats the reason i got rid verizon. lol. i'm so glad i saw this thread! it makes me very happy.

So here's my fun, I tried sending a message to ecare req free texting, got a reply back after a long wait (at least a couple days) saying that the free unlimited texting has been added but my corp discount is not compatible with the sero plan and I could either choose to have a corp discount and a reg sprint plan or a sero plan and no corp discount. The email is nice and confusing basically stating that I need to call business accounts and tell them to remove my discount...

I thought they changed my entire plan to one that included texting free, but apparently they just added a code for free unlimited texting according to another rep, I'm assuming my corp discount will fall off my plan when the changes go into effect next month. What would really stop me from just emailing ecare again to get my corp discount re-added again since every rep basically tells you something different especially e-care ?

I saw someone mention that ecare was yanking people's discounts, but also saw a few people that were getting it no problem, i guess im just unlucky and will have to wait until next month to see what happens... my corp discount was basically eating my taxes on my bill, the only reason i stay with sprint currently is the low cost and the perks (6pm n&w / unlimited data / text etc)

If my bill gets up too high I might as well just get a verizon plan since im roaming on them frequently at home and dropping calls on the sprint network, also I get a nice corp discount on verizon service so at most i'd end up paying an extra $20/mo more than I paid with my sprint discounts in effect... I just hate verzion in general as far as customer service and phones go.

05-28-2007, 10:52 PM
They should be warning the rep that added the discounts and set up my plan the way it is to begin with, its not my fault, they're the ones that setup my account I don't have access to sprint's billing systems... I think sprint in general will be more screwed if they take away discounts from plans that are contracted...they might as well let me out of my contract early if they're going to warn me for the way their reps setup my account !

I have the old SERO 1250 with 9PM N/W. They gave me 6PM, unlimited free texts, and a 20% discount when I ported from Nextel.

I was thinking about switching to SERO with unlimited text and 7PM included in the plan.

I have about a year left and don't mind extending my contract now even though it will essentially give me what I already have, but I won't have to worry about expirations of texts and earlier N/W anymore.

However, I've heard of some SERO accounts being stripped of perks and am not sure if I ask if they will do this to me.

Is it worth it to ask to change the plan or should I just leave an already great plan as is?

SmoothieKing534
05-29-2007, 03:53 AM
Just to let you all know, you are better off letting them discount your account. If you think about it, those of us who get a corp discount, they take that percent off the orignal price of the bill. So, if you allow Sprint to give it to you, then you lose that extra percent of your bill. Just a thought........

Goodgyrl
05-29-2007, 01:30 PM
if the discount is only taking about $10 off your bill really y r u complaining? you're on Sero 500 and unlimited text. $30 a month.

toddc79
05-29-2007, 11:54 PM
maybe i like seeing my bill actually be $30 at the end of the month... not being on a base plan for $30 and my bill ending up being between $40-$50/mo... i think it's simple enough...

SmoothieKing534
05-30-2007, 09:31 AM
No, you all are missing the boat! They take the total of the bill and then minus the discounts. So, if you bills starts at $30.00 and you add 6pm for $10.00, then they take the discount off of $40.00, not $30.00. So, in the long run, your discount is larger. You are still getting your 6pm for free, b/c they deduct that after the discounts.

Just like everyone else, I was afraid to ask for unlimited text... for 2 reasons. First, I didn't want my contract extended. Second, I didn't want my discount taken off. For some odd reason, I emailed ecare last night. It was a simple question regarding the unlimited text msging.

This morning, I received an email saying that it was added to both my lines. I emailed back asking if my contract was extended and the reply was a "No". The rep even said to keep the email so I can refer to it later... in case I had problems.

I can't still access my account... I will update later.

She said no problem and now i've got free texting (and now i'll use that push email thing on the sprint mobile email).

[QUOTE=jumonjii]So I just checked my online bill. It's cheaper than usual so I went through the charges and credits.

Turns out whoever changed my sms to the free code didn't remvoe the 8 dollar sms credit :tu:

They took off my $8 credit :(

That sucks. It may be just a carry over I don't know. All I know is that it shows as an 8 dollar credit on both lines for now.

I just called Employee Accounts. After about 15 minutes of wait time, I was switched to free unlimited text. I spoke with a very pleasant woman who said she was based out of Virginia.

Did they extend your contract since you added texting to your plan? If so, what did you say to EA that didn't extend your contract and let you add UL texting for free?

I'm trying to get UL texting on my sister's plan who's been with SERO for some time now. Just trying to figure out what to say....

Tell them the truth. That now it comes with SERO for free. You might have to extend the contract though...

You shouldn't have to. I asked about that and the rep said the texting code was an attachable option that didn't require an agreement extension.

No problem.

I know some people on here have said that the reps are telling them they have to extend their contract. That's incorrect information.

I called Account Services, Employee Accounts, and Tech Support tier 2 as soon as people were able to get the code active...like 3 days prior to the official release...all 3 departments confirmed it was an attachable option with no AA extension needed.

I had the unlimited text messaging for $8 with the recurring credit for $8 making it free for 2 years.

E-Care just made the change for as long as I have SERO. All I did was mention that I noticed it is now part of the plans.

Renewal of the AA is definitely not required unless you change the plan itself. The promotional code apparently is available without actually changing the plan since the e-care rep mentioned this does not require an AA renewal.

They did extend my contract, and I was still within the Sprint Right Plan Promise. It only added 2 months, and I dont plan on going anywhere, so I'm not worried, and I'm not going to fight it b/c I dont want to risk losing my employee discount, so its possible for your contract to get extended.
