View Full Version : "Sprint Power Vision Pack" vs. "Power Vision Access Pack"

I'd been talking with ecare last month trying to get some free text messages. They said that I couldn't get any for free, but they could give me 300 for $5 (which is plenty for me) and give me a discounted PowerVision price of $10, rather than the $15 I was paying. That equals free to me, so I gave them the go-ahead. She said it would be effective on May 9th (today) because it's when my billing cycle starts.

So I checked today, and sure enough I have 300 text messages for $5, and my PowerVision is $10. So far so good, right?

But some of my channels have disappeared from SprintTV. And they were the only ones I used--CNN and local WeatherChannel weather. I was transferred around *2 and ended up at technical support, who finally put in a trouble ticket for me--after over an hour on the phone.

But the one change I notice on my account is that I now have "Sprint Power Vision Pack" rather than "Power Vision Access Pack" which I had before. Is that different? When I click on "Sprint Power Vision Pack," it gives me no information. And the people at Sprint didn't seem to know either. Did they change my package? Are there other things not included?

Sprint needs to explain these things on their website.

Thanks in advance!!

Shevi

You got a retention PV package. It is the same pack as the one you had before and is supposed to have the channels, but those on the retention PV are experiencing difficulty getting them.

Okay, thank you! That makes sense. I was concerned that I might start getting charged for Picture Mail or web, but it sounds like I should be okay. I appreciate the quick response!

Well, a guy from tech support just called me back. Turns out that "Sprint Power Vision Pack" does not include live TV--only pre-recorded clips. I told him that that is not what I had been told (I was told it would be discounted, not discounted and changed). I tried calling back the number I'd been given at the time, but they closed 45 minutes ago; I'll try again tomorrow.

Latest is in response to an email to ecare, which I got Friday afternoon. They said I could call back until 7PM Central. The email was sent at 7PM Eastern, and I called around 7:15--but they were already closed. I'll try again Monday.

I, too, had the PV access pack, I switched to the PV TV pack, to see what it offered, that was different. But, I did not like it, so I called and had them switch me back. Now on my plan, [it shows] as vision access pack instead as PV access pack, but the programming is as it was before the switch. I was going to call to have them "correct ...", but as all seems to be back to the previous ... I guess I'll just let it go, as it is the same price, huh?

The confusion lives. That $10 pack is exactly what i have and despite being tantalized by all sorts of goodies, they're not for us with the $10 deal. :(

I ended up getting passed from customer service to tech support to customer service to tech support, etc. for over 2 hours. The customer service people would tell me that I should get all the streaming channels. The tech support people would tell me that the package I had only got pre-recorded clips. I finally got a customer support person who stayed on the line with me while I spoke to tech support. She ended up getting rid of the $10 plan, putting me on the $15 plan, and giving me 500 free text messages--which is what I wanted originally. I spent hours on the phone with them to get this straightened out, and it looks like I'm not the only one affected!

I highly doubt that the $10 Sprint Power Vision Pack will ever get the new streaming channels (The Weather Channel / CNN) ... I think it is Sprint's way of trying to force subscribers to just pay the retail price to get the included features. I don't really use the tv content on my phone so the channels I am missing don't bother me too bad.

Glad everything worked out for you!

This is what I was given by the retention department. It has streaming channels, including CNN, Fox Sports, Weather, Disney, and others. However, the TV and Radio channels do not work well. They hang up and skip a lot. Is that how it is for everyone, or is there something wrong with my phone. (I have the Treo 755p)

If you are in a Power Vision coverage area, you should not have an issue with streaming radio or tv content. Every now and then, it may be normal to experience some slow pixels in the image, but other than that, you shouldn't be having an issue.

You must have the Sprint Power Vision Access Pack ($15.00 / Month) from Account Services (Retentions), correct?

I have Vision Access Pack, but it is $10 a month. Apparently a retention offer. I do not have good streaming quality at all; with either TV or radio.

I guess that means Sprint wants us to pay an extra $5 / Month to get the content included in the Access Pack. I don't mind since I don't stream content often. I just use my data plan for the Unlimited PV Data (Web Browsing).
