This is a club for the grandfathers of sprint vision (and all of its subsequent progeny). please post if you are one of the remaining grandfathers who have not yet yielded their lives to various cancers (power vision plans, unauthorized plan changes, etc.) and have successfully upgraded to an EVDO phone. the intention is for us to join forces (strength in numbers) and share pertinent information and avoid any potential problems or unexpected issues.
so far, i am doing just fine with my EVDO phone. Everything seems to be working without problem and I do not see any indication of unauthorized charges.

I've been grandfathered for quite some time now. Even before they released PV, I had the original Vision where it was still legal and encouraged to tether. Tethered with my 4900 and 4920 forever.... then upgraded to a 9000 in January 06, while still keeping my original vision plan.
Never had any issues or charges, even tethering and transferring over 4gb/mo. I totally abuse the EVDO access. ;)
Now, beginning a couple months back, every CS rep I speak with tries to "upgrade me" and I randomly receive calls from CS saying my plan has "expired" and needs to renew else I'll be disconnected. Respectfully decline, and I'm still here, with no issues.
Count me in as #2 in the club.

I had a grandfathered Vison plan on Powervision. But with Retention Powervision credits, I'm actually paying even less and getting alot more with a Powervision plan. If you have a grandfathered Vision plan, you must be a longtime customer...you can get these monthly credits too. Just tell 'em yuou don't want to pay any more than you're paying now and you want the same stuff you have now (unlimited text, pic mail, etc). They'll set you up.
Come over to the dark side. The water's fine...

I've held the same plan since just before the Sanyo 8100 was released. I've now got an 8400 and the plan hasn't changed. They tried hard to force me into paying for the same thing I already had. It takes a while to get a CS rep on the phone who knows what they're doing, but it can be done.

I have a 2000 min plan also. On my first line my wife has an EVDO phone and lost all of her stuff during the switch while I just did an ESN swap and got my Treo 700wx on it with out any problems. Question is, aren't the features included in the plan. Example: Isn't web and unlimited text messaging included in those plans so if she were to switch her phone back wouldn't she be able to get those free perks back? If not are the codes placed on each individual line? I ask cause I'm on the same plan and if by changing hers to EVDO changes the plan and all the perks why didn't it affect my line?

Wow
Count me in (I think). I have one of thier old family plans with 2000 anytime minutes, unlimited pcs 2 pcs, unlimited text, unlimited picture emailing so on and so on. pay 5 bucks a month for unlimite web acess for all four lines. I have a Sanyo scp 7000, a Katana, a LG PM 225 and a Samsung A560. They try to get me to switch plans also but I never do. The store clerks were tripping when I added my latest phone. What's EDVO ?

It's much better when one is grandfathered AND has power vision :)
I just bought a 700p from a guy on craigslist, called up to do an ESN swap, they did it without changing my plan at all.
So, I have 2500 Minutes for $100 + Free N/W at 7 + Free PCS2PCS + Free AAL + 3 AAL at $10 + Vision Premium Pack ($10 monthly credit on purchases) on the 2 Treo 700p lines + unlimited SMS + Free Roaming, though they charge out out to wazoo for TEP. Anyways w/ 25% corp discount, it comes out to $130'ish w/ tax per month for the 5 lines.
Some people have better plans, but I'm happy with this.

On my husband's line we have a grandfathered business plan. For $110 a month we get:
2000 anytime min
Free roaming
unlimited pcs to pcs
unlimited nights and weekends
Sprint PCS Vision Professional Pack which has:
unlimited text messaging
unlimited email and instant messaging
unlimited web access
unlimited picture mail
Sprint PCS Business Connection Personal Edition which has:
Secure, remote real-time access to Microsoft, Outlook or Lotus Notes info, including email
Access to documents stored on your pc
personal email from Internet email accounts
He was told by a rep when he signed up for another 2 years that they don't offer this kind of deal anymore and to make sure he keeps it. I wonder though if it is such a great deal or not.

Still on the plan I switched to when the a500 came out. The old 2 line $85 2000 at - unlimited builtin vision/text/pics ... m2m etc ... 10% loyalty discount. (second line says PCS add-a-phone with vision or something $0.00 all minutes shared)
Only thing I added was 6PM nights and weekends for 10 bucks. I'll try to get that thrown in free once my renewal contract wears off, or maybe dropped to 5 bucks - yea good luck, but maybe? ;-)
A900 gets EVDO speed where available - and I even did an ESN swap and put my old work Treo 650 as my second personal line. No one squawked a bit. Guy at the store did it in about 15 seconds ... I was sort of prepared to battle over whether they would try to stick the Treo on some sort of data plan - but nope. And like others, CS is always trying to pimp something new on me ... once they give up, they try to get me to add another line - no dice. I don't even use the second line I have, much. But I use the Treo constantly.
So yea, I am grandfathered, and plan to stay that way.

I do believe I'm on a grandfathered Vision plan. Vision I'm paying $10 for unlimited web/txt/pic yada yada yada. Phone Plan $45 for 1000minutes/unlimited weekends/nights @ 9pm.
I want to upgrade to a Moto Q. Now the phonerep says I need to "upgrade" my vision plan. WHich is a NO NO NO.
What can I do to keep my existing VISION and get a newer Moto Q phone? Anybody recently successfully done this either?

buy a phone and renew the plan for 2 year separately. Then do an ESN swap on the phone. At least that's how most of us have probably done it.

Have you seen any changes to your bill? I'm curious, of those of you who bought a power vision phone but kept you old "grandfathered" plan....has the bill been exactly as you expected? No surprise charges...no data or text charges ? I want to make the jump, but want to be sure that it will actually work (keep my exact same plan/price in place). Many Thanks to all you brave souls who have blazed the trail for the rest of us!

I've had free unlimited vision/texts on two phones through the old 2000 min/$85 plan. Several months ago I was interested in purchasing a power vision phone, so I contacted Sprint about it (wanting to keep free data access through my phone) and here is what they said
what sprint said a few months ago
...
> Currently $10.00 Vision pack and a credit code of
> $10.00 are assigned to
> your number (9602). If you purchase the PPC 6700
> then you are required
> to opt for a Power Vision phone. The Power Vision
> packs are available
> for $15.00, $20.00 and $25.00.
>
> If you opt for $15.00 pack then it would actually
> cost $5.00 for you
> (after giving $10.00 credit). If you opt for $20.00
> pack then it would
> actually cost $10.00 and If you opt for $25.00 pack
> then it would
> actually cost $15.00.
...
I never got around to buying the phone, but I now want to get a Q now that my new-for-you credit is available. I inquired again about the $5 vision offer (was that a good or bad idea??) and here is what they say now
what sprint says now
...
I apologize for any confusion regarding this matter.
Unfortunately, the $10 recurring credit that you are receiving was
added specifically to offset your current $10 Vision plan.
If you opt for a Power Vision plan, the $10 credit will not be applied,
as this credit can only be applied to your current Vision plan.
What gives?? Is there any way I can convince them to keep the $10 credit? I've been w/ sprint since 2000 with 4 lines.

cool, I'll give retentions a try on the phone again. I spoke to two different reps with no success before, they stated I must pay the full $15 (no free or $5) =\
I'll try to explain that I find it quite lame that sprint won't let me keep my same plan just because I want to get a new phone
Do you have a $15 charge and credit for each line on your bill? Or did they put it through some other way?

I guess I'm a grandmother! I'm coming up on 10 ten years with Sprint!
I remember my first plan 180 min for $29.99! I was 19 years old. Time Flies!
Right now I still have my grandfathered plan from 2002.

I'm a grandmother, too, on one of my lines. I'm moving to another state (going back to AZ!) and keeping a KS number on that line (the 6700) so they can't say "I'm sorry, that plan isn't available in AZ". U/L EVDO, U/L messaging, U/L pic/vidmail, U/L roaming, N/W 7 pm, BCPE, and FIMF for $10. And they're still charging me just $5 for TEP on that line. - sheureka

Sprint refuses to give me free or discounted PV on my grandfathered vision plan. Tried five different retention reps - same thing every time - PV phone is not compatible with vision plan, PV plan is not compatible with $10 vision discount code.
I guess I'll have to wait til contract is up ~2 months and try harder then.

The Sig speaks for its self..........All 8 Lines have 5$ EVDO with a 10$ EVDO credit.....So Sprint is paying me 5$ per lines....All 7 sub lines has 2.50$ Unlimited SMS and Line 1 and 8 have 5$ Unlimited SMS, and All Lines gets an 8$ (SMS credit) and the primary has 10$ 6pm with a 10$ 6pm credit.....
And None of my Code expire....

Mine is sort of grandmama plan. $5 Vision plan on line 2 and 3 ( main line cancelled the $15 vision). It comes with unlimited picture mail ,100 text messages free and $5 download credit per month.
I am trying to upgrade my phones and the CSR says if the phones are PV, then PV plan will kick in. It will cost me $20. But he says he will give it to me for $10. I argued that PV is only $15 and hence with $10 credit it will only be $5. He says the $15 PV does not have unlimited picture mail !!!!!! Boooooo!!!!!! I will not mind losing the $5 download credit if the PV is Free !!! Or at least be the same price as my current Vision.
Now if I want to upgrade my phones, I would probably have to pay full price, right? Then call for an ESN swap. Will I not be able to use my phone upgrade credit of $150???

Grandfathered No More :(
I went to activate (esn swap) my new moto Q with Tech Support, and low and behold right after the swap I looked at my account online and they took off my old Vision. I thought I did everything like I was supposed to, asked the tech guy if he would do it via p2K, assurred me it was. After the activation, he assured me NOTHING was changed in my plan or vision. Eh. Lie #1
So just spent an hour w/ CSRs trying to sort out my account, she gave me 500 text msgs, and PV Access pack for $10 and started my nights at 7pm. Same amount of my previous Grandfathered plan.
On another note, when I bought the phone from telesales, they told me it would be $99 after all rebates (LIE #2), a quick confirmation of that tonight w/ the CSR told me it wasn't true, then gave me $100 credit for the lie the CSR told me the other day. (Had her call sign/name, even gave her positive feedback last week cuz i was soo happy eh).
I feel so naked without my plan :(

Question for my fellow elders: My plan is the original vision with 2K anytime over 2 lines /85$ a month. Has unlimited PCS-PCS, text, vision, picturemail... The one thing that I do not have that the newer plans seem to have is unlimited roaming. now, i have always set my phone to keep roaming off and figured id use it in emergency. but now that the newer phones do not have analog roaming (including my M610) would I be charged if my phone roamed to another digital network? I wondered if anyone else had tried this... i could always add it as an option for 10$ a month but have yet to need it... still, i would certainly rather not disable roaming if i don't need to do so...

After I got off the phone the other nite w/ the CSR I emailed ecare asking to replace my unlimited picture mail service (since my motoq doesn't support it) and replace it w/ unlimited text messaging. To my surprise, they did it :)
Not Grandfathered anymore, but still managed to fanagle (sp) the same plan features for same price, next hurdle will see what my bill looks like... :)

Hey guys. I, too, am trying to grandfather my plan and here is my story - any advice on what my next step should be would be much appreciated...
I've been with Sprint for over 7 yrs - my current plan has 4 lines on a shared $85/2000 min plan. All additional lines are added at free of charge, all have free unlimited PCS vision (among some other things incl unlimited texting) as a part of my current plan. However, two of the four phones on my plan are very old (2 VI660's!!!) and they are falling apart, so I needed to upgrade them.
I recently contacted E-care about upgrading my 2 VI660 phones to Samsung M610s. In my original email, I cited my loyalty with Sprint and specifically asked to upgrade to the M610s without changing my original plan. I specifically mentioned that I did not want to be upgraded to a Power Vision plan when making the change to 2 new phones. E-care not only assured me about the instant rebate of $150 for both phones but was also offered a credit of $100 towards the purchase of both phones. The e-care rep also mentioned what I think I am looking for:
"Let me assure you that your current plan will not change while upgrading to Smaung M610 Phone. Further, you are also not required to add the Power Vision Pack while upgrading to Smaung M610 Phone. You will just be required to renew the agreement for upgrading the phones."
The e-care letter then goes on to mention that I must buy the phone in a Sprint store - have the 2 $150 instant rebates applied at that time, and then write back to the e-care rep to be credited $100 for the two phones.
What do you guys make of this? I know that I should try to do an ESN swap with tech support with the p2k system, etc etc. - but what roadblocks will I have when I go to the store? I am most concerned that the Sprint store folks will change my plan without telling me, or that they will not be able to give me the phones without changing my plan if they are to apply the instant rebates. Any advice?

I am an old Sprint user from the mid-to-late 90s. My first smartphone was a Kyocera 6035 with about 14.4k on Sprint's "wireless web" back in the day.
I believe I changed my plan to a F&C 2500 Vision plan with everything included somewhere between 2000-2002.
I have a mix of 3G and non-3G phones all on the same plan.
I had multiple non-3G phones and then had more lines added with 3G phones (I am approved up to 10 phones). I was told that the charges would all be like my other added lines.
Next thing I know I was being charged for everything and went though them adding the new power-vision on those lines with the extra charges. After complaining I had customer care go in and change all of the codes on my new lines to match the codes on my old lines and got credits for the extra charges.
All new 3G phones on the new lines are free and using old codes for vision professional (with BCPE & unlimited SMS) with EVDO with no problems.

I have just renewed a 2 year term with Sprint and also bought 3 Samsung M500. All via ecare. After back and fortch serveral emails, only the terms of my plan like loyalty discount etc was discussed. He never mentioned that I currently have $5 Vision Plan on 2 of my lines with $5 download credits each month . He even added another $5 Vision Plan to my Main Line, with no download credits of course.
I even asked retention if I could have PV for $5 if for some reason they get upgraded without my knowledge. No deal!!!! He asked me to either downgrad my phone to Katana or to pay $15 each line for PV. Boooooo!
Question: What do I have to do when activating those 3 phones to ensure that I will not be upgraded to Power Vision and get charged $15 per line for PV. I want to be on the old Vision plan.

For anyone who wants to upgrade to a PowerVision Phone but wants to keep their Grandfathered vision plan. You already have to have the phone you want to swap with. If your doing an upgrade in the store they will force you more than likely to a PowerVision Plan. Plus the Reps that use the RMS system, the RMS system will force them to make those changes or it won't continue.
If your doing an ESN swap, make sure you tell the rep that the swap has to be swapped in P2K. This is the system that won't force you to get a PowerVision Plan.

My phones will be here in 3 or 4 days. We will see then if I could swap.
When I renew my contract via ecare, the plan listed is 3 Vision Picture Pack. So we will see if it will stay that way.
Is it better to call Tech Support and ask if they use P2K to request for swap?

Grandfather here... I have a Treo 700p (main) and Katana (second line)...
2500 minute, Vision, PCS2PCS, Business Connection email, Picture mail, unlimited SMS on 2 lines included for $100. I've added $5 unlimited roaming and $7 insurance. Also have 25% company discount and 15% loyalty discount on top of that. Comes out to around $75 after taxes.
I switched the 700p and Katana by buying and switching ESNs.
Wondering if this is still working.... I was thinking of switching the Katana for a m610.

Either their stickin it to me or i'm stickin it to them. I dunno but I do know this. I had to upgrade from a $5 pic mail pack to a $12.50 visions pack because of "EVDO". That was a year and a half ago. I also had to switch form $5 unlimited text messaging to $7.50 unlimited text plan. They said this was all due to EVDO. Well it's been a year and half AND STILL NO EVDO. I figured it up and doing my math it seems I have spent and extra $170 in the past year and a half WHICH SUCKS. Why did I have to upgrade to a diffrent plan when GREENVILLE SC DOESN'T EVEN HAVE EVDO!!!! ARRRRRRRRRR. But I think it's coming soon.... :bang:

For all you folks here with a grandfathered data plan AND short mail messaging, please find the web address that you are being taken to, to view these messages.
I need to find a way to look at messages online. Please report back here.
Remember, in order to do this, you must have a phone that does not support sms.

I have old 2000 minute $100 plan w/free Vision, unlim SMS on primary. Swapped ESN to A900, no problems, then swapped to Treo 700P, no problems. Just make sure that the rep can do the swap in p2k.

inftaxs, your signature says Power Vision.
From experience, there is no problem keeping a grandfathered PV plan w unlimited SMS. Usually the problem is when people have grandfathered Vision plan that has download credits etc , upgrading their current phones to PowerVision phones as defined by Sprint. E.g. if you have a Katana which is a vision phone and upgrading to a M610, a PV phone. And yes I called numerous CSR and tech support. Even those that has p2k weren't able to just swap the ESN despite saying at the beginning "Sure , not a problem , I will just swap your ESN and nothing will change."
That happened to me when I upgraded my phones recently. And CSRs that tried to activate my phones were going to upgrade my plan to include three PV plans that would cost me an extra 3 x$15 = $45 a month.
I am happy to say that Sprint finally worked it out for me and I am now on the "old" Power Vision plan w/ unlim SMS. I lost my download credits but hey at least my PV is free and I don't have to pay $45 extra a month.
Got a Grandfathered Promotional Deal. 500at 4000n/w with Free Vision (2MB a month) for 44.99 a month. Great deal considering at the time 500at was 50 and 2MB vision was 10 dollars more. Got the promo and a new Samsung A500 with a 2yr contact. 3 weeks later Sprint left me a voicemail saying they extended my 2MB limit to unlimited free of charge. Its the only plan i know of where minutes and vision are the same code in P2K. About two years ago i talked a rep into adding PCS2PCS and did it for free for me.
Have had 3 ESN changes since PV and living nicely with my Moto Q

Its pretty scary when you get the phone and call in to CS and hope they dont change anything. I've gotten paranoid every time i changed handsets. I called in 3 days ago to ask about an increase of my bill and at the end the rep asked if i wanted PV since i had a Moto Q?!?!?! I said no thanks, i want to leave everything the same. The call ended and i have checked my plan online to make sure its still there lol. I try to avoid CS as much as possible these days.

i was on the old $40 750 min retention plan with $10 unlimited vision (normally $15, old vision plan) switched to EVDO a900 almost year and half ago, keeping my old vision plan. I just switched to SERO, so now im officially no longer grandfathered. reading some of these posts, I feel that I may have made a mistake? guess its too late now, but wondering if i shoudlve stayed with my old plan?

I lost my grandfathered 10 dollar plan when I bought my 8400. I had free picture mail with it for abotu a year then it just went away and wanted me to pay 5 bucks for it so I declined. I was told the best they could for me since I was going to have Power Vision was 13 for unlimted pv and text and I see a 10 dollar credit for pv on my bill every month. So they charged me 8 for unlimited text and 5 for pv. I would of settled for 500 free text but then I doubt they would of given me the pv for 5 bucks. But some people were lucky and got to keep there grandathered stuff. Rose

I've been a Sprint Customer for 10+ years. I currently switched from a Treo 650 to the 755p. I had the $10 unlimited vision/txt. When I switched they said no problem, we can switch you to $5/evd0 and $2.50 unlimited txt.
I have confirmed this via email and with CS on the phone and when I sign in it says:
Sprint PCS VisionSM Pictures Pack. $5.00
UNLIMITED 2 WAY TEXT MESSAGING SERVICE $2.50
Does anyone else have this on their account?
Is there anything that this does not cover?
I figure all data going in/out of the phone is the same right? Email, web, GoogleMaps, SprintTV, etc.
Of course premium services, downloads, etc. would be an additional charge, but strictly the data, should all be unlimited?
I'm just a little concerned, because when I call in and ask the same question, they say "I think so" and when I ask if they can check for any additional data charges, they say they are unable to do so until my next cycle which is in 20 days. I don't want to wait that long and find out I'm being charged $0.03/kilobyte or something ridiculous.
Any advice?

Well I am grandfathered no more or am I?
Had the $5 Vision Plan, upgraded to PV phones. CSR/Tech support/retention all tried (including with P2K system) to keep my Vision plan but supposedly the system kept adding the $15 Power Vision Plan to my account (for each of the 3 lines, total $45).
Had a lot of hassle regarding this and finally an Executive Service rep. says that she will fix it . I just want my old plan, willing to pay $5 for Vision.
But the Power Vision plan she put on my account is weird. It does not show up on my Plan online. Plus whenever I log onto the website/digital lounge, a banner says that I do not have a data plan and to go check out the choices of Power Vision plans.
Yet on my bill/invoice there is a sentence Power Vision Pack $0.00. I do not get charged then get credit back for Power Vision. No mention of picture mail or text messaging in the plan either. Yet I have free picture mail and unlimited text messaging. Just in case you are wondering, it does not say Unlimited Text messages when I look at my current usage online but in the bill it shows how many I used and it says unlimited next to it. When I look at my plan online, all it says is that I have a Family Fair and Flexible Plan with N/W 7pm. No mention anywhere of Vision or Power Vision.
So did she put me on a grandfathered Power Vision Pack?
Oh and my TV channels are like the SERO people. Missing a couple of channels.

I'm about to buy a DLX. What are the chances that a rep will actually be successful in doing the swap in P2K? Reason I ask, is that I have to decide whether or not to use my $150 upgrade credit or not.

So far so good, I just upgraded to the Touch today and still have my grandfathered 2000/$85 w/ sms & data on the main line and free additional line. I bought the phone at Best Buy and had no problems upgrading from my 6700.

After reading this thread, I'm a little afraid to call customer service and ask this question....
How can I tell if I have vision or power vision, and exactly what I can and can't do with my new Touch?
I have been a sprint customer for about 10 years, My monthly bill says I have a fair and flexible for families plan with 800 minutes.
under my first line it says:
Vision - vision pack $15
PCS courtesy discount .75
America roaming included 0.00
nights and weekends minutes 7pm 0.00
sms text messaging - 100 text messaging 0.00
2nd line
all the same, except:
vision - sprint unlimited vision pack $5.00
3rd line
fair and flexible for families 800 minutes $9.99
visio - sprint unlimited vision pack - $7.50
TEP - $7.00
nights and weekends 0.00
PCS Picture Mail - Sprint Picture Mail 0.00
So, what is the difference between vision and unlimited vision, and power vision?
why would one line have picture mail at no charge?
When i bought my Touch last weekend at a sprint store, before purchase i asked if i would need to change my plan...was told no. As he was ringing it up (3 hours later..such the day!) he said, it's saying you need to change yoru plan...i replied that he had already told me I didn't, so he made a call, and told me no changes were made. So....I am now a bit confused and wondering if my plan really covers what I need. I am pretty sure I have had this particular plan for quite a while, although we just added the 3rd line 1.5 years ago.
Can anyone tell me whats up, and if I am going to get a huge bill next month after surfing the internet and using the push email on my Touch?
thanks!

I have three phones on the plan with 7pm nights, but the other two are credited. I also have a loyal customer discount, so I pay a total of $41/mo. I got this plan a couple of years ago via retention. I have a phone with work, so these phones are used mostly for emergencies. My use averages less than 100 min/mo.
I would like to add the Motorola Q2 coming in two weeks, but I am afraid I will lose my grandfathered Sprint Unlimited Vision pack.
What's the best way to upgrade a phone and keep my plan as is? Buy the new phone on ebay and then have an ESN swap performed in-store?

i have the same plan as urge, 500 anytime, 4000 n/w, free vision and unlimited text messaging for $44.99 (signed up 6 years ago and haven't changed since). yesterday i got my first power vision/ev-do phone, the htc touch and today i have made many futile attempts with customer service trying to get them to do an esn swap. each rep has told me it is not possible to move my current plan to a power vision phone, but i know that is not true. is there anything you could recommend i try to get my plan switched unchanged to my new phone? thanks for your help.

Have had the base plan, 2 phones $85/2000 minutes since Vision started in 2002. There was atime 3 - 4 years ago when carriers were bending over backwards to retain customers and they offered some extras like another 180 AT minutes and roaming minutes. I switched in 2004 (or 2005?) to Power Vision phones. Never paid an extra dime, get every servcie that comes along for free. To answer the last poster, YES THEY CAN keep your plan going with a Power Vision phone. That's how I got to what I have now. My signature line says it all.

I left this club when I got SERO about a year and a half ago. Before that though, I was paying .2 CENTS/KB (Had gotten my plan in January 2003). I don't think I ever went over $10 worth of usage and the vision plans were around $15 I believe.

Hi there!
I have been reading through this board and I have really learned a lot! Great place!! :)
I just have a question regarding grandfathering and loyalty discounts (but first a little backstory). I have been with Sprint since 1999 (back when people looked at you stupid when you asked them if they wanted a 1 or 2 year contract :) ). I worked for Radio Shack from 1999-2002, and as such had an employee plan. When I left RS, I chose to continue my service with Sprint but the plan couldn't be rolled, so I had to start from scratch with a new contract and number (since porting didn't happen then). I have had 2 lines on this contract since 4/02, and both have been month to month ever since (one line was just re-upped on a new contract for my sister 2 months ago, so it's locked till 09), and the account has always been in good standing.
But honestly I rarely use my phone. If I break 100 minutes a month and 10 texts, thats a lot. However, the screen is finally starting to act up on my phone (the original one I got almost 4 years ago) and it needs to be replaced. I know I can get a rebate, but the thought of a 2 year contract just irks me (even though I have gone 4 years since my original expiration), so I am willing to buy a phone and do an ESN swap. I currently have a Vision (not PV) phone, which I do tether occasionally. (This is usually the most use the phone sees in a month). However, I definitely go several hundred megs a month when I do. I have always liked the A900, and I can get one off ebay pretty cheap. However, I am at a loss for what to do with the plan. I tried and returned a data card on the $60 unlimited, because I just didn't use it anywhere near enough to justify the expense. The unlimited PAM and PV plan that I would need on the new phone basically exceed what the data card cost. Like I said, I'm not a power user, doing all my work on the road, I just need something for low use, but the 40mb for $30 is a joke, especially since an overage caps at $70. If there was a 2gb plan for like $20 I would jump on it.
So I guess my question is, is there any kind of plan or discount that I can get from ecare or retention that will help me out? I'm not trying to get the most crap out of Sprint that I can for the least amount of money like a lot of people seem to be doing, I'm just looking for something on the new phone that fits my needs for a reasonable price. (In other words, I don't want to have to pay more for the same service just because my phone broke and I'm on an old plan) I'm on the Free and Clear 300 and unlimited Vision, which comes to $45. This gives me text and tethering. I would want something similar on the A900 for not that much more (maybe $60 a month total). Is that possible?
Thanks in advance!

2 questions:
1. Will all the gf and discount codes migrate gracefully to Ensemble?
2. If your account is migrated to Ensemble, can you still ask for an ESN swap through p2k so you can get a PV phone working with old gf Vision code?

Maybe someone here can help me or direct me who to talk to.
We have been loyal Sprint customers since 1999. We currently have 3 phones on our plan with 2,000 shared minutes, free nights (9pm) and weekends, free Internet (just counts towards our minutes) and unlimited texting.
I want to upgrade my phone to one that uses evdo. I was told by Sprint customer service that my current plan will automatically change (with or without my consent) once I activate my new phone. I will have to pay $15 more per month for the evdo and another $15 more per month to keep my unlimited texting.
Now I don't mind paying the extra $15/month evdo fee because I will be getting something extra for my money. What I am upset about is that they want to charge me an additional $15/month for unlimited texting....something that I now get for free. $15 is okay for evdo but $30 more a month? That's not right. And, I don't have a choice (unless I don't want to text anymore).
Sprint customer service could of cared less. They spend millions of dollars in advertising to attact customers, why won't they work to keep the ones they have. I don't feel that I'm being unreasonable. I just don't want to pay for the exact same thing that I'm currently getting for free.

FYI.. Back in Dec... Upgraded 2 lines on a very old Grandfathered plan (2500 minute), unlimited vision, unlimited SMS included, etc... Had a Treo 700p and a Katana.
Bought a Centro for the Katan (2 year commitment) for $99. I was able to do an ESN swap over the phone with retention and kept my plan.
Then about a month later, my Treo 700p died, so I got it replaced using insurance. Got a Centro.
So now both Centros are working fine on regular vision at EVDO speed.
The next test is moving to ensemble. My account is scheduled to move in a few weeks. I'll have to wait and see if my account with my discounts moves correctly.

I had the retention 1000AT/$40mo and gf Vision w/ unl SMS for $10/mo up until 2 months ago. I decided not to risk the possible loss of the gf Vision unl SMS option when switching to PV (heard all the horror stories of how easy it was to lose gf Vision and unl SMS), so I jumped to SERO, which of course has PV+unl SMS included... saved about $10/mo by jumping to SERO...

...another $15 more per month to keep my unlimited texting.Well of course retentions does give unl SMS if you get the right agent...
But also it has been pretty easy to convince just about any agent to give away 500SMS/mo for free. So if 500SMSs/mo is enough for you, that should be pretty easy to get...

have the 'PCS Free and Clear Plan' 2500 Anytime plan for many years. The plan includes the internet access and unlimited text messages services.
The internet access and unlimited messages services were removed by Sprint on Jan. 4 2008 without my knowledge. Since I did not know my internet and text messages services were removed by Sprint, I continued using them until I was not able to use the picture mail service. I called Sprint and the services were added back on to my account with additional service charges of $20.00.
However Sprint charge me data access fees for the period that the internet and text messages service were removed from my account before Sprint put them back in.
I don't know how Sprint can charge me fees when the services are removed from my account without notifying me first?
Do anyone here get those services remove also?
Thanks!

1000 min/40, free vision , sms, picture mail, etc. Actually the credits I get, are probably more than the free stuff actually costs, since my plan after takes comes out less than 40 with taxes
