Sorry if this is a long sob story!
Yeah, so I had a temp Sanyo 7400 and I had bought a new 8400 online. Got it super early in the mail (3 days ahead of schedule) and I was VERY excited. Activated no problems, worked with in seconds. They then informed me that my Vision would need to be power vision and if that was ok if they reupgraded me to that. Thats what I had with my ppc 6700 until I hated the phone, so I had to keep switching back and forth. She went ahead and upgraded that, and told me it could take a few hours.
Well it was now 6 hours later, and I am trying to get on the net on my phone, and it says "Error Code 1012 - Could Not Prepare Power Vision Services. Please try again later. If the problem persists, you may need to contact sprint". So I called the local sprint store, and they tell me its a citywide outage, nothing to worry about. It will work soon. I call my friend who has sprint and I asked him to get online, his worked fine. I call sprint store back and said his works, they tell me to update my profile in the Power Vision Window. It will idle for a minute then give me the error again. She says she cant help and hangs up. ***!?
Next day I am pretty upset. I call the store back and they told me to bring it in, fair enough i can do that. So my mom drives me down there since she wanted to go shopping. I get in the store and the rep asks how she can help. I tell her the story. She asks the account name and password. I give it to her. She asks for ID. I give it to her. She then tells me I am not the account holder. This is true, my dad is, but my line is in my name and I am authorized to make whatever changes I want. I told her I can read ANY info she wants of my dads. She says its fine, and does some stuff on her computer, then tells me to shut my phone off for 15 minutes and turn it back on, and if it doesnt work to come back.
So me and my mom go run our errands, and 45 minutes later, I power the phone on and it does the same thing. So we go back over to Sprint, and the same woman helps me. She asks for my id again. And this time, she starts asking me to verify all of my info. Last 4 of my dad's social, our address, etc. FInally I said in this smart ***** tone "want the numbers of the 3 phones on the plan?" and she says "yes!"... ***!? So I give all 3 phone numbers in the plan, She asks for 2 pieces of ID. I am LIVID at this point. I give her my license. And I volunteer for a Police Department, and I have an ID badge, and I hand it to her and she makes this comment that it looks forged. At this point I was REALLY MAD. I started to say something, and she says "I will let it go this one time" and I just rolled my eyes.
Anyways, she calls some tech number and all they can seem to say is "Update the Profile" but ITS NOT WORKING! So they transfer this lady to some department, and they REFUSED to talk to her. Instead they make me take the phone, and talk to this tech lady. She proceeds to tell me how to program the phone. 60000 codes entered into the phone later, she is talking about menus I dont have...... UGH! Finally she asks me to check the Power Vision again and this time, VOILA! It worked......
My question being, what does this error mean? She had me entering addresses into the phone that sounded like parts of my first and last name, stuff I had never seen before.
Now when I go to update the profile, I still get error 1012. But the net works now.
Also, Was this Sprint lady in the right to ask me for all of that?
