I've been getting charged for international text message monthly. It's only one or two at 15 cents a text. It's coming from my phone, but i don't know what's doing it. does anyone else have this issue?

I think they have a problem with their billing, accidentally classifying some sms messages as international for some reason. My daughter sends a lot of text messages, but certainly none to any international phones, but every once in awhile there are charges for one or two international messages. I didn't bother to call them about it for 15 - 30 cents, when my monthly bill is over $200.

i had this problem a while ago. what you need to do is call up CS and tell them you haven't been doing international texting messaging and want to know what number is being counted for international. in my case it was my g/f who lives in the same state as me and we both have a 586 area code so its obvious there was an issue.

just make sure you stay very nice throughout the whole thing. the CS rep i talked to had a laugh when they saw that 1500 or so text to that same number was not international and had the same area code.

hope this helps.

i'm having problems with this.
i called sprint and they refunded the money.
But for future, they blocked short codes.

after that point Google Calendar (GVENT, 48368) and Google (GOOGL, 46645) no longer work.
I've called sprint again to unblock it, and specially those two codes.
still doesn't work.

i dunno what to do to fix it.

Sorry if this a bit off topic, but this is a international issue, and I don't want to start a new thread just for this. When I went to Mexico for 1 week, I took my phone and all I did was check the news for a minute or two maybe a couple times a day. Not one call. I figured my bill would be higher than normal when I got it... and it was. 100 bucks more! Really didn't think it would be anywhere near that high. Does this sound right? Last time I do that again. Just wondering if I got reamed or what.
Actually, it's obvious I got reamed for doing that, just wondering if I got reamed more than I should have.

you were roaming in another country so you were charged international roaming rates. did it say on the bill how much data you used and what you were charged per kb?

I had a couple text messages sent to somewhere in Africa one time. Rep said nothing she could do except to supply evidence i didnt send them. Im not quite sure how to do that so i didnt bother. 30 cents wont kill me.

ask what number you sent the text to and if it is a number that you have texted before that was not international text that is evidence right there. if you never texted that number before have them look up the area code and that will show where its from.

yeah this happened to a LOT of us several months ago, and most CSR's are completely helpless with it.

Thought it had stopped! Sorry

Sometimes, I think after Sprint lost that money making government contract, they hired some international bozos located in some third world country with the active subscriber list texting the subscribers from overseas. Doing the math, 15-cents here, 15-cents here, can add up to millions of dollars a month of extra revenue!

Hey sorry Nino for taking so long to answer... I called Sprint on it and everything seems to be right as far as my bill goes. Expensive mistake, live and learn I guess.
