hey all-
i connected my treo 700p to my laptop via data cable and logged onto the internet and tested the download speed... it said i only got about 30KB/s download. thats like if i'm downloading something how fast it will actually go 30KBs/s, i don't remember what the connection speed was. anyway, seeing as i have the treo 700p shouldnt i be able to go a lot faster?? i live in a capital city, the capital of Wisconsin, Madison, so u'd think there would be evdo here right?? what's the way to tell if i'm on the evdo network data connection?? :wavey:

Check the coverage map on the sprint site. It will ask for your zip code and show the coverage for your area.

30KBytes/sec is 300kbits/sec (give or take a few) and is well over 1X speeds (which top out around 12-14KB, if you're very lucky) and is in the ballpark of what I see on EVDO unless I happen to have a perfect signal on a very lightly used tower. You can get upwards of 500-800kbit/sec (50-80KByte) out of EVDO, but it's not that common. Some people even get over 1Mbit, using wireless cards on laptops - but for pdas 300-500 is pretty much what you're looking at.
It's not that horrible, when you think about it ;)
