View Full Version : Best way to contact for Contract Renewal?

meme2

If your contract is up, what is the best way to contact Sprint to renew the contract and get some "goodies"?
Is it the Loyalty group phone number, retention phone number, regular customer service number or ecare online?

Thanks.

If I were you, I would contact retentions. I've had great luck with them numerous times over many years. How many years have you had Sprint service?

Also keep in mind Sprint is hurting for money (they've laid off MANY workers recently) and IS NOT giving out as many freebies as they were last year. I've never seen a year like last year, it was like Christmas every day....... :)

Depending on how long you have been a customer and how timely you have paid your bill, you may just want to speak with a cs rep. Here is how I fared very recently on this very same issue :

I have been a SprintPCS customer since 1999. And 2 years ago was the only time we upgraded our phones and changed our individual plans to a family plan to include our teenager. And like Floradorica, we never once requested for dropped call credit.

So this is what I have right now: -800 anytime minutes(family plan) for $70
-Free 7pm (supposedly as long as I am a sprint customer but I just found out that it expires just like my contract)
-Vision for $5 for 2nd and 3rd line(with $5 credit each month each for vision purchases like ringtones, games etc)
-50 mins. free roaming for each line
-5% loyalty discount and another 10% loyalty
(which I found out expires too just like the
Free 7pm)

Received a text message advertisement from Sprint today regarding free upgrade phones. I called customer service and for some reason they passed me to Accounts Services(maybe it is Executive services)?

Basically I found out that my Free 7pm and my 10% loyalty discount were only for 2 years and expires just like my contract. If I do not sign a new contract in May, I can continue with my current plan etc etc but without the !0% loyalty discount and the $5 credit for the 7pm.

This is what was offered (I said I would consult my husband and she would call me back next week): Everything same as above except:
1) Add back the free 7pm for 2 years
2) Free vision for 1 year ( $5 credit for each line with vision)
3)15% discount instead of the 10% discount for another 2 years
(so the 15% plus my 5% forever makes 20%)
4) Free phones either Samsung A640, Sanyo 3100 or Samsung 7000
Or the new Sanyo Katana for $29.99, buy 1 get 1 free.

Can I do any better? Advice?

ps she offered 6pm free but only for 1 year instead of 2 years.

The offer looks good to me. I suggest you email ecare and get that offer in print. Just in case the rep forgets exactly what you were offered. Sprint tends to have selective memory....

Have you checked around to see what the competition is offering?

Can you email ecare to get the offer in print after talking to a customer rep on the phone? In this case, the person I spoke to is not even a regular customer rep. The next time she calls me back, I will ask her what department she is in exactly.

Wayne, how about the phones? Are the phones ok phones. I don't usually change my phones but hey since it is free(Samsung A640) or only $29.99 for 2 phones(Sanyo katana) I will change my current Samsung A740.

As for the competition, I am really a very loyal Sprint customer and have not looked around. From what I heard, Verizon does not offer nights starting at 7pm even if you offer to pay them $10. I am not looking to change or call retention but just to make sure that I continue getting my Free 7pm and the loyalty discount. Found out they are expiring when my contract is up because we switched to online billing. Expiration dates did not show up previously on my paper invoice but showed up on the online bill.

Ink, I thought SERO is only for employees or business subscribers. Also isn't SERO individual plans as opposed to family plan? That was about a year or so ago when I last looked.

Btw, your 2nd line has the Katana. How does he/she like that phone? We are unimaginative people. All 3 lines have the same phone, same plan , same discount. lol

Personally, if they refused to give me the offer in writing, I would refuse to renew the contract. I don't make verbal contracts, especially not with companies that are known to lie.

I am sooo green. What is TEP? Also how do you manage to get 6pm Free. Call regular customer rep or retention or some other department?
When I renewed my current contract I managed to get 7pm Free (changed from a previous 8pm free). But I just found out today that the 7pm Free has an expiration date. Bummer!!!!

Customer service rep says I can only have 6pm Free for 1 year if I sign a 2 year contract. :irked:

TEP = Total Equipment Protection (insurance)
I got 6 pm free from eCare.

I am a long time customer, allways paid on time and my Sprint contract will end soon.

I called retentions and they are not giving much out these days. 2 years ago, I got all kinds of goodies, but now, it's a different story.

They actually tried to pull a fast one on me the other day and I am working with them on correcting their mistake. Kind of DejaVu from 2 years ago.

So Joe what did they offer you? What kind of plan do you have now?

Refer to my 1st post on what they are offering me.

I am sort of upset because I would not be calling about renewing contract if I did not find out that my 7pm Free expires in about a month. Btw, it did not show up on my paper bills only online billing. Back when I requested for 7pm Free, I specifically asked if it has an expiration date and they said no. I am going back on my old emails to check the email from ecare.

Yup I guess you guys are all correct. Always get it in writing.

Also I have never called retentions since 1999. Which is why I created this thread to find out the best way to contact sprint for contract renewals.

If you can find an email where they explicitely said that your 7pm option does not expire, I would contact the BBB.

I am in fact looking into that at the moment. It was on the hard drive of my old computer that would not boot up. I was not going to BBB, was just going to shove it in Sprint's face.

Meme2, not every one on this website that have the SERO plan knows an employee, lol. NO OFFENCE to any one! So my point is that, you can mos def. get a SERO plan. And there are SERO family plans but they do not include vision and roaming. I just check the SERO website and they took off the SERO family plans, however they might put them back up. I seen Sprint change it, they put up a SERO family plan and then they remove it. Go check out the plans for your self. The SERO website is: http://www.sprint.com/sero. When you are asked for an employee's e-mail address type in: anythinghere@sprintemi.com. And sorry i have to update that 2nd line. It no longer has the Katana but has the PPC now. But the Katana was not a bad phone. I would prefer something with a MP3 player over the Katana.

So Joe what did they offer you? What kind of plan do you have now?

Hi.

I have 4 phones with sprint sharing 1000 anytime national minutes for $50 bucks.
- $10 bucks each on 3 phones.
- $5 for roming
- $5 for Vision pack on 1 phone
- $12 for Power Vision on 1 phone
- Free unlimited text on 1 phone
- Free pcs to pcs
- Free starting at 7pm
15% employer discount and 5% loyalty.

Retentions does not really have any good deals now.

Sprint also tried to tell me that my free 7pm was ending soon, that it had an expiration date. I told them they could kiss my an*s since I have an email from Sprint telling me that I got free 7pm with no expiration.

They told one of my friends 7PM doesn't have a expiration date. How much are you willing to bet, it will magically expire, probably at the one year anniversary! :deal:

I have been a member with sprint since 1999 and never once called to ask for anything. Somehow I came across this site and learned that Sprint practically gives things away, since I don't have a contract right now & I was looking for three new phones I decided to give them a call. I could not get them to give me any discounts on the phones (other than instant rebates not mail in) and I got the 8703e, A640, & SCP-3100 the last two are free anyway so no big deal there only the $200 for the blackberry.

Prior to calling --
I have 4 lines w/ 25% corp discount
Family Share Fair n Flexible w/800 But regularly went to at least 2000 mins
Unlimited Text on one line - $15
Vision - $7.50
nights @ 6pm $10
AAP - $20

While on the phone I asked for a loyalty discount and was offered 5%. I asked for free 6pm and was given that. I asked for unlimited text messages free and was countered with $17 for all phones. I asked for AAP free, but they said no. I asked for ready link free, but again was told no. So this is what I got

After calling --
25% Corp
5% Loyalty
Nights @ 6pm - No Charge
Unlimited Text all phones - $17

I am thinking I should have held out for more and called back a few times. I know I will have to call back since I ordered three phones. Perhaps I can make sure they applied my discounts correctly when i call back and get something more. I don't know if I should have stayed on my plan, but I did just in case I needed a reason to call back and switch and possibly ask for more of a discount like AAP free.

If anyone has advice on what to say or ask for I'll take it!

Joe_123, I envy you because I couldn't locate any email from ecare regarding no expiration date for the 7pm. (I had 8pm with no expiration so it does not make sense to get 7pm with expiration ) I porbably just called a CSR and asked her to check my account regarding the 7pm and she told me that it has no expiration date. Hence I have NO PROOF.

sprint_1999,
I have almost the same plan as your except the 800 minutes to share between 3 lines.
And yes they offered me the same phones for Free but I could not get the 6pm for Free. Only the 7pm and it has an expiration date in 2 years!!!! Also I do not have the corporate discount. Only 15% loyalty discount. I have yet to accept the offer. The CSR says she will call me back in a week's time.
When I asked for 6pm free she said, that we do not even finish our 800 minutes every month so why do we need the 6pm Free???

When I asked for more of a loyalty discount ( I asked for 15%) We just went back and forth for a little bit about how I was already getting 25% off and they just couldn't do the extra 15% and 5% is the best offer they had on the table. I think that when i get the new phones I will call back and try to wrangle more out of them. maybe i can come up with a lame excuse like "...But i was told it was 15%"

My 15% is 5% loyalty from years ago plus 10% from 2 years ago. I do not have the 25 % corporate. Not sure if that makes the difference

Sprint_1999

I think that I am beginning to catch on that most of the discounts people get are from many calls and several months between and the things just keep adding up to bigger discounts. Like yours for example it looks like it is just the 15%, but really it was 5% +10%

So maybe I am stuck with my discount (which I think is good--not complaining) for at least another year or so.

Sorry, I missed your question. Yes, this is the plan I now have.

Long story short - I callled retentions the other day and got a pretty sweet deal - so I will know for sure in a few more days if the deal is set in stone or not as I am waiting for written confirmation.

I am ready for a repeat of the story on my signature. Hopefully not, but I am ready for Sprint BS as I have my big tall boots on. :D

How is asking for a discount cheating Sprint? Its about knowing your options and asking for them. I didn't beg or haggle with CS to get 5% I just asked for it and they gave it to me. In fact I don't think that I even asked for a set number (i can't really remember) I just asked for a loyalty discount for sticking with sprint for years and always buying phones at full price so i don't have to sign anymore contracts.

Amen Sprint_1999. We stuck with sprint for years................
The first 5% loyalty discount was given in 2004 after being with them since 1999. No contract and didn't ask for the discount. Same goes for the 8pm free. Offer came in an email, didn't ask for that either.
The next 10% loyalty discount came in 2005 because we added new lines to include the kids and took on new plans. Again, it was given not asked.
Now it is 2007.................... who knows!!!!

I call Retentions the most, especially around contract renewal time!

With Sero, people have gotten it calling retentions, employee accounts (recommended by me, as long as you have a legimate referral from a employee), business accounts, regular customer service, etc. :)

It seems like most of the other people here don't really cheat the system either, and i didn't think specifically you meant me.

I see some gamers here that say they call and call and hang up on people then call back and try to get better deals. So there are a few, but i think that is with anything. those people are always trying to lowball everyone on any deal they can try and get.

I know a guy who is trying to buy a car right now and everyone he talks to about a car he offers them like 1500+ less than whatever they are asking. Just to see how low they are willing to go. Of course no one has yet to take the offers, but someone will eventually that just can't say no. Its people like him that you must be referring to I am guessing

Text messages are mos def. worth it, especially if you getting them at a cheaper price than the regular price. So many people use text messages now days. Give it another 1 or 2 and the whole world would be text messages I say!

It took almost a week for ecare to reply to my email regarding a contract renewal---they claimed the email got stuck in their system, but they did take care of me.

My plan had been:
$40 500 F&C
$15 Vision Professional Pack w/Unlimited Text & Picture Mail
$0 Free M2M
$0 Unlimited N&W at 8pm
$0 150 add'l recurring minutes
23% Nat'l Volume Discount

In exchange for renewal of my contract, I requested N&W starting at 6pm and and F&C America (unlimited roaming). Considering that I use my phone a lot after 6pm but before 8, and I don't need more minutes, I figure this is a pretty good plan. Adding it all up, I get an $83 plan for about $39. Works for me...

Here's my question though... my contract is expiring in July. I just bought a phone off ebay (my 6700) so I won't be eligible for the phone upgrade program. But.... do you think they'd give me a deal on a new 6800 (which will be out by then) if I sign a new contract?

I was wondering if I could get some help on how to go about renewing my contract. I have 2 lines that the contracts are up on. I have 3 lines total, my current plan is:

$80 for 2 lines and $10 for the 3rd

Sprint PCS Fair & Flexible Plan

Adjustable Anytime Minutes (800)
$70 Minimum Monthly Charge
Nationwide Long Distance Included
Unlimited Night & Weekend Mins. Included (Starting @ 9pm)

I do not have texting or any vision, but I would like to.

Is there a specific phone number I call? I have been with Sprint for just the 2 years, but have never called about anything at all.
Any kind of help on this would be really appreciated, I am not comfortable doing this since I have no experience in dealing with customer service or anything.
I would like to get 2 new phones for my 2 lines that the contracts are up on and was thinking about an M1 and then just a phone that would be free.

Any advise will be appreciated ~ Thank you so much.
