I have been with Sprint for perhaps a bit over 10 years; ALWAYS have paid by bill promptly, no calls requesting credits for dropped calls, etc. -- a real goody two shoes, lol. I had been on a retention plan with 1000 anytime minutes, regular vision, and 7PM nights for $60 before taxes ($50 service + $10 Vision +$5 7PM nights minus $5 credit for 7PM charge). My contract had just expired and I no longer needed 1,000 minutes and wanted to lower my overall bill. I decided to call CS and see what they could do for me instead of playing the "I am going to quit game" with retention.

I was totally pleasant with the CS rep who told me that I had a very good retention plan and she saw no reason for me to lose those 1,000 minutes with a lessor plan. I told her my goal of lowering my bill and that I really wanted to do that and I didn't really need those 1000 minutes. She laughed and said that she would give me a deal that I couldn't refuse and proceeeded to offer me the same plan that I had for a net cost of $35 pretax!

Here is how it breaks down:
1000 minutes service plan $40
Regular vision $10
7pm nights $ 5
Vision Credit $(10)
7 PM night Credit $(5)
Loyalty discount $(5)
Net monthly Cost $35

The loyalty discount is something I asked for (wanted a 10% discount) and she said the way this plan was coded she could only do it by giving me a $5 monthly service credit. I couldn't believe how easy this was for me to accomplish and I am now saving $25 a month with the exact same plan. I just wanted to pass this on to you guys who have been so helpful to me in the past.

Well, BestJudge, I did forget to mention that I DO have 100 text messages included. It is no big deal to me because I am thumb challenged and probably only use maybe 15 or so a month.

As I was explaining to some1 this AM in a meeting: Most customers who are retained plan, be it cable, cell phones, airlines etc. are actually very easy to deal with.

Most only require some form of perceived value that they are gaining for their longevity with a certain brand.

As long as they aren't demanding a free lunch, these customers usually make less noise & require less hand holding & bring in a consistent revenue stream than ones that threaten to leave or are demanding about their next grabbag.

Those you just let leave because they will call in again asking for a free lunch one day.

Congrats on your plan adjustment. !
