hey all-
i'm sure ur probably wondering why i said urgent, well here's why. i signed up for the sero plan online at sprint.com/sero and all went well and i had received my samsung a900m. about 2 weeks later (3 days ago from today) i called them up and told them i would like to return the samsung and upgrade to a treo 700p. they said that was fine and they overnighted me the treo 700p. well it got here yesterday and i took it into the local sprint store to have some info transfered between my samsung and the treo and i ran into a problem. when the sprint rep. at the store scanned some barcodes under my battery he said that the phone had been flagged for FRAUD!! i was like, 'that's impossible, it's a brand new phone!' he took it over to the techs to look at and they said the treo had been reported stolen from New York! I live a thousand miles away from new york, in WISCONSIN. anyone have any idea how the heck this could of happened?? if you go online and order sero through sprint.com/sero then you will actually order it through a company called inphonic??? i tried calling their customer support and i got some guy with a very strong accent, sounded like from India, but i'm not one to judge, anyway he wasted 20 minutes of my time only to tell me that someone higher up than him had to help me and they were busy at the moment and i was to call back later, an hour later. then hung up. Has anyone had anything resembling this situation happen to them?? what should i do? :irked: :irked: :irked: :irked:

there have been reports of Treo 700p phones coming up as fraud/stolen. It happened once in my store, to a phone from our inventory. Something about duplicate ESNs. I would just call whoever you called the first time, and explain the situation, and have them overnight you another 700p.

Also, you should have the packing slip with the shipping dates and model of your Treo to prove you didn't steal this phone. If CS doesnt offer help, maybe bringing the mailing slip/reciept and phone to the store might get them to switch out the phone right there.
Strange story.

Actually that is not unusual. I had this happen to a few differnet treo 650's from my store. Same thing, New York. These were brand new in package phones from Costco.

I agree, it's not that unusal and please don't post a heading of URGENT ASAP EVERYONE READ because of one isolated incident of you getting a bum phone. Call where you got it, and do a little problem solving on your own. Like other's said, bring the packing slip directly from sprint to show proof, or call sprint and explain that to them.

i didn't have the slightest clue that my situation wasn't that unusual! and yes, i'm sorry i said Urgent!!!, i was still so shocked, i mean come on, you get a phone in the mail, go and get it programmed but find out it was reported stolen?? anyway, i got in touch with inphonic, and a new treo is on the way, it should be here tomorrow, Monday the 9th. Now i have the original sam. a900m, the "reported stolen" treo 700p, and tomorrow i will have the new hopefully not stolen/dup. ESN numbered treo 700p. i am REALLY hoping this will all be straightened out by wednesday. i'm leaving for NYC for a vacation w/my parents on saturday and i want this all to be behind me.

gotta love inphonic......but in defense, i have checked a Treo in at work, then tried to sell it the next day, and it came up LOST/STOLEN/FRAUDULENT....so somewhere in that little over 24 hour period, something happened....

Perhaps the Treo is an easier than average phone to use an ESN "calculator" for, cloning ESN's for either fraudulent lockline claims, or to place into "Bad ESN" phones?
If it seems to be constantly a treo problem, that may be the reasoning.

Yeah Imphonic is a huge web dealer, they do Sprint, VZW, Cingular. They are the web purchase through SERO, Circuit City, Radio Shack, Best Buy and on and on and on...
Nobody actually sells their own stuff anymore, why do the work yourself when somebody else can do it AND you STILL get a cut?

well according to fed ex's website, my treo is sitting in the local warehouse here and it says it should be delivered by 3pm. but i will be in school. once i get home from school i will take it into the local sprint store to have it programmed and i will let ya'll know how it turned out. so the phones that i have now, samsung a900m (bouth 2 weeks ago), treo 700p (bought 5 or so days ago to replace the sam. a900m, but apparantly was stolen) i already know how to send those back to inphonic, but how do i make sure that they are cancelled?
