Hello all;
I did a search for this and couldn't find to much.

I have an old fair and flexible account. I am currently on it with 5 lines. My oldest daughter is going to grad school in my area and wants to join Sprint with us. I would like to help her out and pay for the service. I believe they will not let me add a sixth line on a family plan? Has anyone been successfull with this. If not how should i approach this? Two family plans. 4 on one and 2 on the other?

Current plan
800 mins FFF plan- 70.00
blackberry service on my phone
NW at 6PM for 10.00
PPC-6700 with 15.00 unlimited text mess and 15.00 pwer vision ( kids!)
LG Fusic with 10.00 vision plan
2 other lg's on the same plan.

Now I bought another PPC-6700 for the other grad student and have it on a Free Incoming plan with vision free for the first month/5.00 for NW at 7 PM
I also have insurance on all the phones

Give me some creative suggestions for one large family plan.
Has anyone or know anyone that has 6 phones on a family plan?

Mike :)

Are you eligible for a 6th line? if you are then you'll be able to get it. If not your daughter will have to get her own line if she's of age if not your wife/sig other will have to get it.

MOST family plans are limited to 5 lines, total, Sprint doesnt really have a "primary" per say anymore, but i still use the terminoligy, 1 primary line and 4 add on lines, is usually yhe limit, but there have been times i've seen more

Thanks all. Let me clarify. I can add a sixth line and already have but they will not let me bundle it in with the 5 other phones. hey say five is the limit for a family plan. I wonder if I can talk them into the sixth line on my existing family plan

You can add a 6th line to the same plan. The new rules over the last year or so, say that reps aren't allowed to add more than 5 lines to a single plan. However, when you go into a store to add an additional line of service, the 6th line, just tell them to add it to your current plan @ the $0 add a line charge. I currently have 10 lines of service all sharing from 1 plan, a 4,500 min plan. Also it might depend on how long you've beena customer as well. I've been with sprint since 1998. I had 6 lines for the longest time, then after they changed the rules with the limitations of 5 lines, they don't bother messing with my plan now. I've had a couple of moron reps give me a hard time when I call in to pay my bill. like one time I called to pay my bill, and I had 8 lines going, the rep said that she had to fix my account and that I had to get another plan that there was only 5 lines allowed per plan. I told her that I wasn't interested. She was very insistent saying that she was going to make the changes. I told her that I'm not giving her permission to make those changes and to not make any changes. She was still insistent, so I asked to speak to her supervisor and she hungup on me.

as far as ive seen as a sprint employee ive never seen any 6 line family plans in my 7 month period with them... i dont believe you can do it besides can you really keep 6 phones under 700 minutes??? btw the new power pack plans can put unlimited text on all phone lines for 20 on up to 5 lines your probably better off swicthin over to two 3 line family plans and saving yourself the ovarage charges on minutes... just my suggestion

how long have you been a sprint customer? Sometimes you can use the "loyal customer approach" to get things you want.

Been loyal for three years
I may have to think about the "splitting the plans"
Can I get the power vision as a family deal also

lol they hate when you ask to speak to there supervisor.
I use my call center experience that I had when I worked for verizon when I call sprint. Sprint always talk about no supervisors are available so I say well yours might be but I'm sure there's one sitting or standing about 30 feet for you so get off your butt and go tell them a customer needs help. usually they do hang up but u get a few that will let u talk to the supervisor

not anymore they used to allow you to do so when you were on the older fair and flex plans. the 15 vision pack is the cheapest on available also just a heads up.

From a Sprint employee of 2 yrs+....5 lines are the MAX...no self respecting rep who values his/her job and/or bonus will even attempt to add a 6th line or more.If you are "lucky" enough to find an untrained unscurpulous rep who will try and do it for you(the system no longer allows it) and through an act of the Almighty is successful...expect beaucoups of billing trouble and massive overage fees because of the aforementioned system limitations!!! Take my advice and live within the system...YOU WILL BE BETTER OFF!!!!!

it depends on the plan they already have. if it's a FF something something T3 something, it will work. i had a customer the other day who already had 7 lines sharing add an 8th.

it was some old plan 800 min plan for 70 bucks. they always used about 2000 minutes a month. but it was 5 bucks for every 100 minutes they went over and they believed it was a better deal so they just keep adding on lines. i wasnt going to stop them.

and on another note, i dont think you can have 2 separate family plans on the same account. i dont think the systems are smart enough to distinguish which is which they are pulling minutes from.

The problem with the old T3 plans is that the Add-A-Sub codes will disappear as soon as the migration to Ensemble billing is complete(never to be found again) and any problems will not be able to be solved. You are correct about multiple Family plans on same account as the same code is used for ALL family plans and the system can't distinguish between the code on an account twice.

I understand that you think you were doing our customer a favor, but I guarantee that within a couple of billing cycles they will be calling in with billing problems and then the call center will have to break the truth to the customer after they have been told by the store something different and incorrect.....Hence upset customer and hurt feelings, thus possible churn.

Damn, that rep sounds like a jerk! Hopefully they were recording for "improvement purposes" at that time.

i was trying for about a year to add a sixth line to my account. Then i called one day about something random and they just offered it to me. I didn't even ask for it. it was as if they were selling me. they also added it as a free add a line. i could not believe it.
I officially have 6 lines on my account for 6 months now under a family corporate plan.
BTW when you add #6 number 7-10 become really easy so long as ur authorized for it.

thanks for refreshing this thread.

after rereading the original post, the OP should have no problem adding the 6th line because..........

he has 4 lines sharing at the moment. the 5th line is a ppc 6700 on a single incoming plan. the 6th line would be the 5th line sharing the minutes.

Still got my 10 lines sharing from 1 plan.

Not gonna work, especially with new billing system, either move to a business plan (much more expensive) or use two family plans. Even if you did have an old plan that it was technically possible, it WOULD get removed by 3 cycles, don't put yourself through that.

I currently have 5 lines and qualify for a 6th line, problem is that they will not allow me to have it share my current minutes. I have explained to CS that this phone is only to be used as an emergency phone so the usage would be minimal, and because of this there is no need for me to get a seperate plan. I see some people have more than 5 lines, but how do you go about getting the 6th line added as AAP? I have tried CS and retentions but they will not budge, would i have better luck in the office?

Family plans share minutes across 5 lines. Some used to have luck with sprints old billing system on getting more lines added to the plan, but I believe that has ended with the new billing system.

You may be better off to review your current plan including all add-on's per line and seeing if you would be just as well off trying for a SERO plan for one of those users. If you have a person with vision / powervision on your account who would not exceed 500 AT minutes per month, it may be a better option for you then trying to add another $10 AAP.

To read about SERO, check out the stickied threads above and look over your plan. This may actually accomplish your goal of a 6th line at the same end cost.

Thanks Dan,
But i think one problem i may have is that i just had the contract switched from my brothers name to mine last month so when they look at it it will only say one month of svc when i have actually had 3+ years with a perfect history and i have made all payments the entire time. I want the AAP and just to pay the $9.99 AAP charge and the $7TEP. Currently my plan is 2100 min powerpack for $109.99, 2nd line free, three AAP's at 9.99 each, Text across all lines at $20 PV on two for $10 each, and PV on two of the other ones at $15 each. plus TEP on all 5 lines. with my 25%NVP my bill comes in at $184.00 before taxes, all i really want to do is add the $17 for the 6th line and TEP but don't think i would be able to get a SERO plan because it shows that my account is brand new, any suggestions? Also in reading previous posts regarding SERO i would have to Cancel A line to get it and pay the ETF correct?

Ok i think i see what you are saying and it looks like it will get me in the price range i am looking for. but i have another question.Since the new phone will not need PV i can have that go onto the family plan and have the $15.00 PV charge removed. now with the $30.00 SERO plan this would come up to a total of $259.96 before 25%NVP for all 6 lines which is just lower than what it would be to do an AAP, question is would i be able to transfer one of the phone#'s that has vision to the SERO plan or would i just have to get a new phone# and give my aunt my old#? Also is TEP included in SERO?

no more 6+ lines without getting hammered when you get switched to ensemble.

your option would be to put the 6th on its own single plan.

it's going to be unfortunate when we have bill issues with these 6+ lines on an acct.

In most centers, the persons supr. is not the same supr.that takes escalations. Two different roles. The Suprs. that take those calls in my center don't 'Sit' around, they take calls all day.

Also to channel125, the rep was being nice, they didn't have to ask, they could of switched the extra lines to Individual lines since she educated you already, or worse case filled out a B.O.S. Ticket and had it done, you give the reps a lil too little credit on what they can do with/out permission.

I've been with Sprint 10yrs. I currently have the family plan 2200 minutes- 8 line sharing and everytime I call they try to get me to add another line! I'm eligible for 10. I don't think gcc5582 has a clue!!!!!!!

MS Thing..If you won't listen to me listen to Obliark and DeanWOOf who also know what they are talking about....It was always against Sprint Methods and procedures to have more than 5 lines share minutes.....If you found someone to do it for you..great....but as the other two posters so eloquently explain the new Unified Billing System - Ensemble - Will not allow it..So trouble is brewing with family plans that have 6+ sharers

Dan

once upon a time, but no more.

For those who have over 5 lines on a family plan, when migrated to sprint's new billing system you may be contacted to pick new plans to correctly share minutes on the lines.

If you are told to get a new plan, etc..... you should speak to retentions who may be able to offer you a plan swap and keep your costs the same until the end of your current term. Just because P2K would allow a rep to share minutes in excess of sprints limit doesn't mean ensamble will do the same.

I fear many posts with "sprint is making me change my plan, what can I do?"

Now i haven't read the whole forum so i don't know if someone has said this but, sprint does not allow 2 family plans on any lines, nor more than 5 lines on any family plan. it may work on someone's acct but it is against sprint policy and tech's are going through accts and will see this. moist likely if you have more than 5 lines on one family plan you're 6th line with be charged .40 a min or whatever the overage is ... and 2 family plans is not permitted. if you call in to get it, someone will catch it eventually and you will have to change to one family plan and the rest individual ... just my two cents :D

We currently have 7 lines on our fair and flexible with .05 a minute overage. I am actually signing up an 8th line tomorrow per Sprint's nod. I have checked with them and they said that is no problem. We are on an 800 minute plan and pay around 200 a month our overage (we end up using close to 3000 minutes) PV, text, and discount. I cannot add that account on via the internet - I have to call and order it or do it through the store, but it is totally within our contract.
