Hey guys! I was looking into sprint service when I ran across one of the SERO threads. So first off I would like to thank you all for that very valuable piece of information! So I ordered my phone after using the email address holiday@sprint.com.. About an hour after I placed the order I received a call. The lady on the phone told me I would need to make a deposit of 150$. So I said sure whatever thats kool if im just going to get it back eventually anyways. Then she told me I was all set and I should receive my phone in the mail within 2 days.
Now I look in my email to see the progress of my package today and it says that they want me to fax my soc. # and License to this number 866-212-6442. I was just wondering if the rest of you had to do this? Personally I do not feel comfortable doing this since someone already called me and told me it is on the way.

I thought that sounded funny at first, but did some research on sero.com and they do ask for that info.
If you feel funny about it call: 866-274-9478

Its just to prove who you are.
Perhaps your credit file is noted to "confirm identity before opening new account" or similar. I know my wife had to fax over 2 forms of ID when ordering a phone from an ebay seller, I think they wanted driver license and a 2nd form of ID such as a work ID badge. As she has an existing account, her SSN was on file.

Hi all,
okay, it happens to me too. Here's the problem.
I do not bought from Sprint, but Best Buy.
So last night, I bought an ATT phone from Best Buy website. Earlier, I went to one of their partner website to check my order. It says: In Progress.
And there's a button to "CHAT" with one of the customer service. OF course, nowadays, you get to chat with employees from different countries.
The person who chatted with me ask for my SSN and Driver license number to be faxed to the number that you mention above. I thought, why do i need to do that when I just want the phone and you already have my credit card number. So i told him that I do not have a fax machine. THen he gave me an email address and told me to email my SSN and Driver license # to that email address. That's even worse, because you send your SSN and Driver license # via the net without any encryption.
I asked him which state is this fax number from. He doesn't give it to me. So, I asked for the customer service number. He gave it to me.
I called and talked to one of the customer service agant, ..accent again. THis agent must be from somewhere too. This guy told me that my order will be shipped within 4-6 hours today. And didn't mention anything about SSN or Driver license number.
Well, by the end of today, i will know if my order will be shipped or not. But again, I will never email or fax my SSN or Driver license number to any third party just to buy a phone.
and I do not think that ATT (my subscriber) needs those two items from me again. They should have it from the first day that i signed up with them.
