I just wanted to share a happy story with all my fellow Sprint users. I recently switched my years old 2 line F&F plan to 2 SERO plans after several months of hassle. I now have a nice low bill and am very happy at finally getting what I wanted. So, a few days ago my wife can't find her phone. We tried the old "call it with my phone and listen for the ring" trick but it went straight to voicemail. She looked everywhere but to no avail. She went to work the next day and found it crushed into pieces in the snow of the parking lot. It had been having problems and was an old A820 so we weren’t too sad about it. I had been wanting to add text messaging to our plans anyway so I called Sprint to see what they could do about a new phone too. I called for a regular CSR and waited on hold for 15 min and then was hung up on. I called back and was told the wait would be 15 to 20 minutes. I wasn't having any of that so I called back and said "Cancel" and was sent to retentions promptly.
I apologized to the CSR who answered and explained why I was calling retentions when I didn't want to cancel. She didn't seem to mind. I first asked if I could get the 10% employee discount my work offers (although I had been told when I switched that SERO doesn't get discounts, I knew better :) ) She took a couple minutes and set it up for me, no problem. Ok, now I need text messages. 300 on each just plan about balances out with my discount. I then asked about getting a new phone. My wife has never used a phone discount in our years with Sprint however we have bought phones out of pocket and had them activated. Doing so reset her discount date until next year, something we didn’t know at the time. Well, she pushed through the $150 discount for us and then asked which phone we were wanting. My wife wanted one of those pink Katanas. She looked up the price and said they were $279.99 before the discount. I explained that I couldn’t use a credit card and asked if there was another payment option. She clicked away for a minute and said she was trying to get a credit on my account. After a few minutes on hold she said she had put a $150 credit on my account and asked where I wanted the new phone shipped. Just like that I had gotten a free phone. What’s more, they ended up paying ME $20 for it! The CSR also casually mentioned that the phone had an $80 rebate I could print off and mail in! I got $100 AND a new phone! While I had her on the phone I had her put TEP on my 6700 too.
I know some would say I could have gotten the text messages for free, but I had already gotten a good deal on my plan and wasn’t looking to absolutely scam Sprint. I was even willing to pay some for the phone but the CSR just gave it to me without my having to even ask! Don’t you just love this company?

I love my SERO plan with perks as well. I love Sprint. I don't plan on leaving any time soon. Thanks for the report.

I agree totally!On 2/14 I called to get switched from my FFFP 800 to 2 SERO 500 planes and was given free nights @6pm,500 text and 2 free Red Razors that we will not be using since we have PPC6700's.
So all in all we made out like bandits! :headbang2

Yep. That is exactly why I love Sprint. I have had several billing issues with Sprint in my 3 years with them, ut it is always resolved and they do what they can to 'make up for the trouble' so I can't complain. I also love Sprint and won't be going anywhere. :)

I'm not sure I follow your math here.... Sounds to me like this is how it went:

$279.99 before discounts
- $150.00 credit
===================
$129.99
- $80.00 mail in rebate
===================
$49.99 total cost

And since you didn't pay for this with a credit card, you had it billed to your Sprint account. So, in your next months bill you will see all of this, and the bill will be about $49.99 higher than what it should have been.

Of course, I could be mistaken, but somehow I don't think that they would just give you a free phone because your previous one was smashed to pieces. However, stranger things have certainly happened!

Either way, congrats on the plan and phone!

I think the phone was $279.99 before discounts, minus the standard $150 for getting a new phone which brings it to $129.99 as dtarrance says. However, I understood to op to mean that the rep too an additional $150 off of that which means he is in the positive $20. Then with an $80 mail in that brings it to the op making $100. Hope this helps.
