Hi everyone,
So I was so happy to get my brand new m1 playing around with mp3s and all that, just to realize that its showing 500 mb free when I haven't put anything in? What the hell? Is this some misleading advertising or am I getting a defective unit?
Thanks in advance

it's actually like 987mb I think, as for you only seeing 500mb of free space I would definitely get that checked out

very strange. mine has a little over 1 gig storage. try hooking it up to the computer and formatting it like a HD.

u might be looking in the downloads memory. that is diff than the main memory.

I live in Green Bay. Go packers! haha. Anyways, connect it to the computer using mass storage. then go to my computer, and right click on the sayno drive and select format. You can also defrag it which is useful if you are constantly adding/deleting/moving files around. right-click on it and select properties->tools->defrag or backup or whatever you want to do.

Well, I was kinda scared of formatting the whole thing, so I looked around, and erased some stuff inside.
Now the weird thing is that Ive only surfed the internet a little bit, and once i cleared the cache, it freed the entire gig again...strange isnt it?

Yeah, looking at mine through the File Manager, it's got a little over a gig on it too.
566976KB Used
439104KB Free
It's got about 1 gig and 6 MB's on it, total.

Hrmm... but the numbers are in KBs... would that not mean a MB is actually 1024KB rather than 1000KB?

Mass Storage
679888 (used) + 326192 (free) = 1006080kb.
1006080kb / 1024 (kb/mb) = 982.5MB
Downloads
16132 (used) + 24828 (free) = 40960kb.
40960kb / 1024 = 40MB
982.5MB + 40MB =1022.5MB
So the M1 does indeed have 1 full gig of storage.

Damn, so the total 1 gig is shared between the mass storage and the downloads... thanks for the math james2k, I was too lazy to compute it here ;)
