Looks like Sprint Users has a new competitior, and this one might not be to easy to "shut down".

Sprint has started their own support/news website called "Buzz About Wireless" with their own forum. Aparently Sprint employees participate in it to answer questions and look for feedback. It is also for the users of Sprint to share phone reviews, tips, etc. They claim they made this because of customers complaining about not listening or helping us in other boreds and news places. Think they're maybe referring to this board? :tu:

Greetings!

I have been with Sprint Nextel for almost three years. In that time I have learned a lot, both directly and anecdotally, about what our customers think of us via other boards, in our retail stores, reading emails, the list is pretty long…not all the stories are good.

Here are some of the weaknesses I have heard from you:

• We don’t listen.
• We have lost the human side.
• We haven’t really helped you.

To prove we are listening we have taken on launching this community to open an honest dialogue about wireless technology and service. I believe, along with many other folks here at Sprint, this community will be an excellent place to start having conversations that are meaningful to you and us.

We are a big company, in places we move slowly, in others we can move amazingly fast. Our company has a ton of activities in progress at any moment. This is a change for us. A fundamental change in culture and it may take us some time to adjust.

We will listen, we will engage in dialogue. We may not always agree, but we WILL be friendly. We will help. There are humans here at Sprint. That’s right, people who are a lot like you. Get to know us and discover we love mobile stuff just like you!

There are a ton of communities on the web focused on mobile phone technology and service. So community is not a new idea. What I can tell you is this community is for anyone who has an interest in mobile technology and products. It doesn’t matter if you are a Sprint Nextel customer or not. You don’t have to love us, or even like us. The point is to have open, honest, conditional and respectful conversations. I understand, as do many of the people here at Sprint, that not all these conversations will be easy. That is ok. That is how we will get better together.

This is the part where we come to a basic understanding regarding this site, the community and our conversations/interactions. We expect everyone involved in the community to read the guidelines and legal stuff so…check here.

So what is the expectation for this place? Keep reading…

We welcome our adversaries and our advocates.

We welcome our competition to participate.

You don’t have to be a Sprint Nextel customer to belong to this community.

This isn’t a “sale”, you will see products and services from various places, but the primary purpose of this community is not to sell you something

This community is full of content. User generated content, Sprint generated content, and content from our partners.

We reserve the right to be wrong. We also reserve the right to fix things that are wrong.

We reserve the right to remove content, but only content we deem egregious. This community will follow guidelines similar to any credible forum or community.

These are the basics. We expect everyone involved in the community to read the guidelines and legal stuff . The details can be found there.

This community has been created for you. We hope you will play the primary role in growing it and keeping it healthy.

So on behalf of the buzzaboutwireless.com crew:

Have patience…
Have fun…
Have at it!

Regards,

Tristan

It'd be funny if they required your cell number to join... They could use your comments against you.

So, they tell their employees they can't be members on here and open their own site to spread the company message?

I dont see sprint actually listening to their customers. It might happen, but they could have saved the start=up costs and just read what is posted here.

I wonder if the really negative complaining posts will be replied to or just vanish :)

Interesting. I don't think they will get all the users from here to migrate over to their forum though.

I think all company-sponsored forums are gimmics. If they cared they'd read what's already available.

Now if only Sprint would make their website look as cool as BAW...

I was on the phone with Tier 2 last night he said he, and most tier 2 reps are members of SU. When I had a question he couldn't answer, he looked it up hee on SU as I was speaking to him

lol thats classic. that just shows the SU.com is a force to be wreckin with., but is Buzz About Wireless actully sponsered by sprint? if it is that sucks for SU. cuz anyone on here what want there voices heard will just go over there. it looks pretty basic (haven't joined)

So, they tell their employees they can't be members on here and open their own site to spread the company message?

Who said Sprint Employees can't use this site? No one has stopped me from being a member. In fact I've been so impressed with SU that I have shared it with several of my Sprint Nextel team members.

SU is the reason I finally decided to buy my Fusic.

and you work there?

Well, we don't market it right or more people might actually be interested in it. When I went to the Sprint Store to buy it the counter help didn't really do much to sell the advantages of the Fusic - I had to read it here. That's not good.

If it was me - I'd be counter-marketing the iPhone with the Fusic and the other MP3 phones right now.

Apparently sprint sent out an email informing employees that participating in SU or HoFo is grounds for termination. It seems sprint is worried that y'all are spreading insider info.

Just don't post personally identifiable info and you should be fine though :)

I joined also. Who knows, maybe it might amount to something especially if they listen.

I hope this is just one more step towards Sprint trying to be a little more proactive with increasing their relationship with their customers.

It can't hurt trying it out.

Read Sprint and you will learn the truth. Whether its here or on your own site. I suggest you read here first, SU is a excellent cross-section of YOUR customers. ;)

sounds like a way to catch more employees and fire them.... Since sprints code of employee conduct says that employees are not allowed to take part in any online forum, blog or community that references the company. EMPLOYEES, if you want your job, DONT JOIN! TRUST ME!!!!!!!!

I would assume that Sprint would have firewalled this site and the other one in question (never heard of HoPo). They have EBay and a lot of other sites firewalled yet I can hit SU from Sprint. Not that I am tempting fate, but I love this site and I think the company can learn a lot about their customers here - both positive and negative.

I imagine its sprints way to have a site they can filter, monitor and fire employees who dont give the company line. Having said that, if you post according to the site rules for rmployees on a company sponsored site they have no grounds for termination.

Don't give your name, location, etc on the site! :deal:

I joined, but its so corporate that I wont spend a lot of time there. I don't think its an attempt to get employees though. I think there would be a credibility issue if an employee participated in a company sponsored forum.....then got fired for it.

Like what...basically said that we have to keep an eye out on what you say on any site

SprintUsers.com was created in January 2002 as a resource for users of Sprint PCS products and services to learn about and share information. We have cll phone reviews, Cellular Accessories, Downloads, PDA reviews, Ringtones, all of the latest Sprint PCS news and information, an area where you can find help in creating a ring tone or custom image for you phone, and so much more. The most popular section is the message board where visitors can read and write messages, ask questions, and get advice about their cellular phone from other users.
