View Full Version : M1 Backlight on While Charging

I saw this complaint in other threads, and I think it deserves its own topic. The backlight staying on while charging is the ONLY complaint I have about the M1. I emailed Sanyo to hopefully get a workaround or a fix in the future and all I received was:
I'm sorry, but there is no firmware update for the M1 that will allow for
the shutoff of the mini LCD display during recharge. You may want to set the
sub display to have an animation to prevent burnout of pixels on it during
recharge.
Thank you for your question.
Sincerely,
As far as I am concerned, if he is admitting the pixels will burn out faster because of this, a fix needs to be released. If anyone else agrees, please write in to Sanyo to hopefully get this issue taken care of, or in a few months we all may have burnt out external LCDs.

the backlight being on wont burn out pixels but it may shorten the life of the backlight itself but i doubt it will have any affect LCD backlights tend to have a very long life
i had a 7 year old laptop i left on 24/7 for 4 years straight as a picture frame in my old house it took that 4th year for the backlight to burn out

hasn't sanyos always been this way? I've had a sanyo 5500, 200, 2300, 5600, 8400 and now the m1 and I think even during a call the lcd would be on and it would bother me because samsungs lcd turn off.

The Sany0 MM-5600 when charging didn't light up the external lcd. They better fix this.

Nope. I just tried it -- it goes on for about 1 second, then turns off. The LCD is still on, but not the backlight. Big difference.
