Haven't had any accidents with my M1 yet, but I was hoping to gauge the build quality of the phone from other people's handling of the phone. Anyone out there with some stories and maybe pictures to tell?

I feel like the phone scratches pretty easily. Coming from an m610 this disappoints me because I've dropped the m610 and there were no scratches at all! I haven't even dropped my m1 yet and I've pretty much babied it and there is already some scratches on the bottom of my battery cover.

The material used for the battery and the hinge portion seems to scratch more easily than anywhere else for this phone... other than the hinge scratches that seems to be common, the battery itself has taken some scuffs on mine.

ive been babying mine but no scratched yet. i did cut out a screen saver and put it where the hinge hits the phone. i just got my clear case/sheild for it today.

That's a good idea about the screen saver in the hinge, how did you do it, might want to try it on mine, I also got the clear case/shield and I love it, but like you said before or in another thread which they make one to use it with the ext. battery, they only need to work on the battery part

i put mine between the sprint logo and to the end of the indentation for service light and out to each side of the hinge. i tried putting tape on the rubber stopper in the hinge it worked but looked really tacky and then i couldnt get it off so i had to use a tweezers.

Which and where you get the screen savers, what about those plastics that you use for the cell screen that's what you talking about

Check out shieldzone.com and search for Sanyo, I got my M1 covered. they are the absolute best. They have mall kiosks in some areas too where they'll do it. Usually if you work for a provider they'll give you a big discount (ie free)
