I am currently with Verizon, but my contract ends in April 2007. My main gripe with Verizon is the crippled phones, and $45 basic data cost.

I have heard that Sprint App can be downloaded from the internet for free as the Java on Srint is inlocked? Is that true for the M1?
Also does soomeone know if application can be downloaded to the M1 with such as a data cable or for free? Does anyone know the average cost of a Sprint game? say teturus

Also is the TV really live or just clips like Verizons Vcast joke?

Thanks.

I have the M1 and think its a great phone.

I have heard that Sprint App can be downloaded from the internet for free as the Java on Srint is inlocked? Is that true for the M1? Yes I am using a few free apps, ringers and screen savers which can be uploaded to your phone using various uploaders on the internet. (one being the Focas tool on thes site)

Does anyone know the average cost of a Sprint game? Avarage between $4.99 and $6.99.

Also is the TV really live or just clips like Verizons Vcast joke? Well I think it depends on what level of power vision package you have. For example I have the ultimate pack which includes mostly streaming clips but also Fox News Live and ABC News Live. You can get a whole slew of live channels like Discovery, CNN ect. for an extra $9.99 a month.

Welcome to good ol' SU.

It is true that you can download Sprint games without having to pay for them. We can't really tell you how to do that, though, in black and white. We do have a search feature here, an FAQ section and things like that. You can find out what you're able to.

Regarding putting those games on your phone with a data cable, it is not possible with an M1, or any Sanyo model. You would need something like a Samsung or an LG for that. You would have to download them to your phone using Power Vision, which comes in three rate packages: Access for $15; Plus for $20; Ultimate for $25. All of those packages come with different features and advantages.

So, basically if you really want an M1, you can get away with $15/month for unlimited data and you can get the games themselves for free. Without a Power Vision plan, because you have to download those games over-the-air to your phone, you would be charged $0.15/KB (unless they raised the rate again).

Here is a thread about the different Power Vision plans so you can see what the advantages are:
http://www.sprintusers.com/forum/showthread.php?t=110534

It needs to be updated; the channels change every now & then, and the Plus and Ultimate packages now come with free Music Store downloads every month (Ultimate comes with 4 free per month; I believe Plus comes with 1, maybe 2).

Edit: Oooh, haha, I was beaten to the punch! But yes, there is also a channel called Sprint TV Live that is actually live. It includes over 20 live channels, some well-known and some odd ones. If you're willing to dish out the ten bucks a month, it's a nice channel to have if you'll get that much use out of it. The PVision packages come with a few live channels as well, mostly news and sports stuff, like RattDawg mentioned.

Thanks for everyones help, but my other questions was in terms of Java games designed for phones that you can find online can you put those on your phone? With Verizon the only things I can put on my phone is what Verizon wants because they use Get It Now.

There are quite a few games site that have free java games, some may not be as flashy as the pay for games, but they serve the same purpose..to waste time

Girlfriend has Verizon.... great coverage but all her 1.5 year old phone can do is take a pic & make a call. My M1 is endless...:) streaming MP3's, watching videocasts, DL.TV, TWiT, Video ringers, 3D gamers, internet is pretty good speed plus TeleNav works pretty good as well.

Sprint since '96 and no other service offers me what I like/want/need.

I see that a lot of people on this thread all write how they have all these games, pics, ringers, vids, applications on their Sanyo M1's but i barely see anyone advising the new M1 owners (like myself) on how we all can get all these things. Me as well as all other new M1 owners are willing to learn how to get all of the new games, pics, ringers, vids, applications.

So please can you (the one's who know more about the above) give us more info on how we all can get these things on our new M1's.

Thank you and greatly appreciate any feedback you provide (im not looking for some quick easy way, just some guidance and assistance) thanks.
