So whats the straight story on reception of these phones. Is there actually a difference or are they all roughly they same? Have you had 1 phone and didn't get reception in an area and then got a new one that did? Do you just see more bars on one phone and call it the one with better reception?
Tell me which, if any, you think is the superior performing RF phone and why. :D

I have the M1 and my mom has the 8400... so far we've not had any issues with reception. Haven't really paid much attention to bars...

i cant vouch for the 6600 or the 8400 but comparing my m1 to my a920 its much better. i normally only get 3 bars at my moms house but i get 5 with my m1.

Thats the first time I've heard that, did you find the 8400 getting reception somewhere the M1 didn't?

The 8400 uses a stub antenna rather than the "intenna" used on the M1. The stub antenna will naturally pick up signal better than the antenna in the M1.

reception is too subjective to talk about in a sense of whats the best.
no 2 phones are the same. and your coverage is going to be different.
you could take 3 of each phone and they would pull 9 different dBm's

I had the M1 for two weeks before returning it for the 8400 (decided I wasn't really using the M1's extra features to warrant the much higher price). Anyway both phones had much better reception then my Sanyo 8200 which dropped calls from time to time in my basement apartment. Also with both everyone said I sounded much clearer then I did with my 8200 and there was no difference in how I sounded between the M1 and the 8400. I have now had the 8400 for two months and have dropped maybe one call in my apartment. The M1 dropped two calls in the two weeks I had it which is still really good considering most other Sprint phones barely even get reception in my apartment. Hopefully that helps.
