I'm about to get the Blackberry 8703e on SERO but a friend of mine told me I'd have to pay an extra $40 a month in 'RIM service fees' (not just for the PUSH email but for any internet access on it).
I tried calling the sales line but I got through to someone in India who was pretty clueless. :frustrate
Can anyone who's got a Blackberry 8703e on SERO let me know whether the included service plan covers everything (apart from push mail, which I'm not fussed about)? Are you getting full net access on it for your $30 a month?
BTW I realize opening a new SERO thread seems to be against protocol, as per the SERO FAQ ptIII (http://www.sprintusers.com/forum/showpost.php?p=1294531&postcount=1047).
However this question doesn't really fit into the discussion any of the three places directed in that closing post to the above thread...
SERO......... Attempts at getting the plan
SERO.......... Attempts at free options
SERO.......... Loyalty / Business Discount questions
Can I ask - why don't you guys just create a new forum dedicated to SERO, esp seeing as it doesn't look like the offer is going away too soon?
Just a bit of feedback -- Like a good forum citizen I've been searching the archives as best I can, but it's really hard to do that when all the questions/answers are locked up in two or three mega threads!
Otherwise great site, thanks!

some of your concern should be left in "site feedback"
also, yes, the BB plan is either 39.99 or 49.99 :)
Thread renamed:

I think this should cover the need for SERO threads now :)

Honestly..... we dont need another forum for the plan. We have limited the discussion to set threads with a good amount of success. If the posts are left in the now 4 "official" threads it allows for a reasonable search option to be used.
Most SERO questions dont deal with people who are adding the plan to a new line of service, but those who want to switch existing lines to SERO, get extra discounts on SERO, get other free services like text messaging or 6pm nights.
Prior to us limiting the discussion, we had people posting about SERO everywhere. Now, I just have 4 threads to review :tu:

RANDOM QUESTION:
If I renew a $30 SERO plan, can I get a $150 off a new phone (after 22 months with my current SERO plan)? Normally, they require $35 plans. Just wondering if SERO ones are treated differently.

According to a couple of other forums, you can still get the rebate. However, they don't really provide much information. They just say SERO plans are not held to that guideline. *2 reps will tell you that you do not qualify for the rebate. Proceed at your own risk.
I may call up Employee Accounts next week and see if they know anything else. My SERO plan is scheduled to start on my next billing cycle so I just want to make sure everything is ok before I call.

sprint rebates, need a plan MRC of 34.99 or higher, so Sero isn't eligible on the plan you are on, and addons don't count, needs to be the bas minute plan only higher than 34.99

Can a hybrid powersource phone (IE: ic502, ic702, ic902) be used with my CDMA SERO plan?
Can a hybrid powersource phone (IE: ic502, ic702, ic902) be used with my CDMA SERO plan?
I dont believe it can, no. I think the hybrid requires iDEN service as the billing service. maybe with the transition to one billing system it will actually not matter which side was your original provider.

^^ I wonder if it would be possible to convert to IDEN SERO and then add one. I have my eye on the ic902 so I guess we have a couple months to figure it out before its an issue.
Still, with all the people here who got ic502s I am supprised there is no definate answer yet.

Under what other pretense would Sprint provide a discounted price on a phone? People call retentions all the time and ask for new phones and they get good prices if they agree to a 2 year renewal.
Using myself as an example, I am set to switch to SERO 500 next week and I have agreed to a 2 year renewal. Am I out of line to call them back and ask about phone prices?
Aside from the SERO factor (and maybe that is a big factor), there doesn't seem to be too much difference between the two situations.

Well after like 3+ hours today on the phone with at least 4 different departments (was referred to retentions twice today)- I think I finally got the SERO 500 Plan.
Like most of you... I will just have to check on line or when I get my new bill in 03/07.
Hopefully I will get my new Treo 700wx by Monday or Tuesday of next week. That took time to get but at least I got it for a really good price $149.00... free activation..free shipping. I will check on this phone order after 24 hrs. Then once
I get it I will change from my Samsung A800 to the Treo 700wx.

I'm hoping that for me we'll sneak through b/c we have two lines, one on a 1250 plan and one on a 500 plan. The 500 one is what makes me nervous. By the time we are ready to renew (November), I hope this will end up getting us a buy-one-get-one-free type of phone deal. If not, then we'll be talking to retention and looking at other carriers.

Congrats on getting SERO! When you look at your account online, does it still show your current usage? When I added text messaging to my plan, the website said it was unable to display my usage because I made changes to my account. This time it doesn't say that though. I called up *2 to ask about that and they said that would only happen if the changes took place immediately. Can anyone else confirm?
How were you able to get a discount on a new phone? This is what I am trying to figure out because with SERO 500, it doesn't seem to qualify for the rebate program. Did you just ask because you were renewing your contract?

Hey guys, I just signed up for Sero with a new account, sad enough I'm a CSR with Sprint and I dont know the answer to this. I've seen accounts that have NVP discounts and accounts be denied for NVP discount with Sero. Has anyone successfully signed up for Sero and then after that, applied a NVP? Or did you have your discount then get NVP? Just wanna know because my NVP discount included a 100 Service credit and 10% off, would be nice.

UPS just delivered my Next Day Air Saver Package... New Treo 700wx
Damn I wanna charge it up- but I will have to wait till March 1st- since that is
when my new plan starts and two different reps told me- so that there is no
prorations, etc.- wait till March 1st (since that is my billing cycle) to activate it.
Wait will be torture but then again... I can wait for my SERO 500 Plan for another
9 days.
So now I have to figure out what kind of "Leather Case" to buy- I will probably buy
a form fit case (either a Seidio or Vaja) and then get the Palm Side Case for the
Treo 700wx- that way I have a nicely fitted case and then I put that into a
Palm Side Case holster.
Now I have to sell one of my extra "NIB Brand New Samsung A800"- Never Activated.

Does anyone on the $49 plan also get a bill around $80? After taxes, insurance and texts thats what my gf is getting. She figured it would be lower and now wont stop reminding me of this. I would just like some other people's input so I can tell her its not that off. Ill shoot for the free texts later but until then I have to hear it...

Congrats on a new Treo.
I don't see why you can't charge it up now and play with the PDA part at least.
If you have to wait until March 1st, just keep the phone part off ( even if you turn it on, there shouldnt be a signal anyway).

OK.. I think this falls under the "random" questions. I am wondering if someone with more SERO knowledge than I can seem to drum up could offer some thoughts.
I have a 2100 F&F family plan $109.99 7PM nights (incl), 3 lines $9.99, 300 SMS on 2 lines $10, Old $5 vision plan, and a new power access plan $15, equip protection on 2 lines $14.
I have a 10% Sprint discount and a 25% corporate.
$163.98 plus taxes, fees, etc.
My bill falls in around $120 after taxes and discounts.
One line uses approx 1300-1600 AT minutes and the other two use about 100 AT each.
I've been trying to make sense out of the SERO plans, but it just doesn't seem like they could be any cheaper in my situation. Does anyone else see this differently? I think the holiday email works until midnight tomorrow so any quick help would be great :fingers: Thanks in advance!

I successfully signed up for two SERO lines last night (this morning) on the same account. This should start on my next billing cycle (March 14). The first question I have is whether this should show up online as my plan now or will it show up closer to the billing cycle. I just want to make sure everything is correct in the plan.
Secondly, I was interested in purchasing a new phone with my new plans. One at the great discount. Is this automatically the price since I have renewed my contract, or do I need to be qualified for a rebate?
Thanks for anyone's help.

I was already on sprint with an NVP before i switched to sero. Called the rep back in december and she switched me to SERO and on my first official bill that came this month reflecting the sero plan still has my NVP discount intact (I never mentioned or asked if i was going to be able to keep it to the rep, so i guess if you already have a plan with NVP and are lucky enough to switch to SERO as a preexisting customer your discount will follow).

Good for you.
It's this whole thing about loosing the NVP that has kept me from switching to SERO. I figure I'm paying about $69 for two lines after taxes and would pay a little more if I had SERO. I'm going to wait for the next round of open SERO enrollment and see what's been happening to other people.

Yes it's normal. SERO, as far as minutes go, is a F&F plan. Once you go over your base minutes, you will pay $5 for a small chunk of extra minutes.

I am not currently a Sprint customer, but I plan to become one in a few weeks when my Verizon contract is up. I plan to get the Sero plan that comes with 500 minutes for $30.00. When I go to the website and pick the phone and plan, I click to see additional features, mainly looking for texting. The only texting plan that shows up is 300 texts for $5.00. I really need unlimited texting. Part of the reason I am leaving Verizon is because texting is so expensive and they don't have unlimited and I often go hundreds of texts over. Can I get unlimited texts by emailing Ecare? I really need it. Thanks for any help.

Anyone know how I can get a new sprint phone as an existing customer? Just recently I was able to switch to a SERO plan and keep my old number, as I was an existing Sprint customer. However, I desperately need a new phone. My question is, was I eligible for a new phone at the time of my plan change? I have been a Sprint customer since 2000. Just called retentions. Seems as though it was somehow not setup correctly. They have now included the Nationwide Long Distance.
I also found out, to my surprise, that they charged me $499 for my new Q, but credited me $449. Thus, my Q was only $50, instead of $99. Woo hoo! Bonus!

okay... what I would suggest even though it might take many calls to different reps before you find a good one... ask for him/her to set you up with the SERO 500 plan and if it works... then say... is there anyway I can get 500 text msgs for free- especially since my current provider offers a similar amount for free with any new

I switched from VZW to Sprint last week, and set up my account through our company rep. Then I found out about SERO thanks to Digg.com (thats how I found out about this site as well). I called a CSR and asked if I could be transfered to SERO but I was denied. So I went ahead and used the holiday@sprint.com e-mail at the SERO site and was allowed access. I ordered the 500min plan and a Sanyo M1. I currently have the Samsung M500, nice phone too small for my hands. I called another CSR and told him that I just signed up for SERO and asked if I could return my phone to a store and port my number over to the new phone. He said it would not be a problem, however, I'm not too confident about that statement, I do not have it in writing, so I guess I'm looking for reassurance here. Also, when I submitted the SERO order form, I chose to have my number ported to the new phone, I checked on the status of my account today and I was told I had to call in. Once I called in I was told that the number could not be moved onto the SERO plan. The CSR spoke English as a second language, so maybe there was a language barrier that I misunderstood the CSR or she misunderstood me. If anyone could shed some light onto what I should expect, or provide me with a tip on how to proceeded, I would be greatfull. I have not received the Sanyo M1 yet, I ordered SERO last night and the CSR re-submitted my order with a new phone number.
Thanks in advance.

All you can do is call in and ask. Check out the other SERO thread, Attempts at Getting the Plan, just to get some general info.
It really is luck of the draw when it comes to asking a rep to switch you. Some will, some won't. So if you don't get it right away, don't feel bad. Good luck!

Inphonic will not be the one to port your number. They will assign a temporary number to you and when you call Sprint to activate your phone, they will proceed with the port.
The Inphonic rep was correct though, in saying you can't port your Sprint number to SERO. They really cracked down on that in the last few months.
Seeing as how you already have another order in place from Inphonic, you only have a couple of options; don't activate the new service and continue trying to get your current plan switched over or cancel your current service (and lose your number) and activate the SERO plan.

Said the same thing, dropped my old # i had for yrs got the Sero 500 and a new# and gave it to everyone that had my old #, wasn't hard to do at all. glad i did it :headbang2

Thanks for the info, my new M1 is has been shipped and I should be on it by tomorrow. Since I'm still on my 30 day trial that I signed up for before SERO, I was thinking of canceling Sprint, going to another carrier, then having my number ported from another carrier back to Sprint on my SERO plan. It would be a pain, but thats one process that would save my number. Any comments?

Why not get a cheap prepaid phone and port it there for a month. Then port it to Sprint?

Thats what I was thinking, something along those lines. Now I'm worried if there is a limitation on how many times a number can be ported with in a certain time frame. I guess I have nothing to loose with a cheap prepaid phone. I even have an old (1 year old) Verizon phone that I could use. I'll give it a shot if I can't convince Sprint to port my number internally and then report back here on how it went.

I was following your story on the other thread.
I figure if they messed up your SERO plan/porting then just give them a call. These calls are logged and it's a matter of someone looking over the notes again.
Heck, if nothing else- you could even use the mistake as leverage for another perk

It didn't happen for me when I first was able to get it switched. I checked my plan online the first thing in the morning and it was still my old plan. I called in, explained the situation and the rep activated it immediately.

How does one go about upgrading phones on a SERO account? My current phone is a regular vision phone (Toshiba VM4050) and earlier today I tried to upgrade (using my $150 credit that they said I was eligible for) to a powervision phone (Samsung M610). I twice confirmed with the ladies there that I wouldn't have to change my plan to upgrade, so I thought everything would go fine...and it was until they called in to approve it (they got an error message), then they told me I had to change my plan because the new phone was a powervision phone and my old one wasn't. I didn't argue with them because they had no idea what my plan was (they thought it was a very old plan and called it a "zero" plan, which makes it obvious that they didn't understand the person on the phone), so I just told them that I wasn't going to switch my plan (who would?), thanked them, and got out of there. Anyway, I don't know what I need to do to upgrade my phone now, without losing my SERO plan. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

I have a question about ordering/porting phones... I see that on the inphonice SERO website, they have an option for you to port your number, and I want to do that.
My question is, when does the port take effect? Will I be without a working phone at all? My contract with T-Mobile expires today and I'd like to move to Sprint with my numbers (3 lines on Family plan -> 3 separate $30 SERO lines.) Should I order the phones, and if I do, will the porting happen once I receive them, or as soon as they start to process the order?

Inphonic does not handle the porting. Sprint does. Your phones will be shipped with temporary numbers and when you call to activate the phones, you will have to initiate the port. I think they say it normally takes 2-4 hours. My friend ported from Tmo and it took less than an hour.

I was on the SERO site yesterday & I noticed that the plans say nothing about roaming. I assume that the plans include roaming but it doesn't say it anywhere on the plans I could see. Is that something you ask for after you get the plan? Also, can you add 6pm n/w for $5 if you choose?

Each forwarded call costs $0.20 per minute, plus any additional long-distance charges.

no, calling your voicemail is not a call to a mobile to mobile number. The system knows your calling your own VM and charges you the current rate (AT or N/W)

5 questions...
My contract with Verizon ends May 20th.
1) I was wondering how to switch to the Sprint "$30 for 500 minutes" SERO plan with the Samsung M610 phone instead of the phones currently offered with SERO?
I know you can use the password "holiday" on the SERO website, but how do I pair the SERO plan with the Samsung M610 phone?
2) Is Sprint offering any incentives for customers switching from Verizon to Sprint?
3) Are the phones offered from the Sprint website and the SERO website "brand new" or "refurbished"?
4) I visit Canada often. How much would the "CANADA ROAMING" feature cost to temporarily add on to my Sprint plan?
Verizon charges $30 per month for "CANADA ROAMING" with their "North America's Choice" plan.
I have to dial *228 to "update" my roaming capabilities every time I visit Canada and every time I return to the USA.
5) Does Sprint have a *228 feature that will update my roaming capabilities or does Sprint update roaming automaticaly?

1. Since you are not going to be switching until May, it is possible that the M610 will be available then. If not, I believe you will have to wait 6 months under Inphonics terms and conditions before you can switch to a new phone. Otherwise they will charge you full price for the phone you get from them.
2. To my knowledge there are no incentives for switching. SERO is probably all the incentive needed. ;)
3. The phones are new.
4 & 5. Sorry, I don't know.

Did you agree to the change while you were on the phone? If you did, then I don't think you can get out of the ETF.
If the rep didn't mention SERO and only mentioned 7pm NW and then you later found out your plan had been changed without your consent, then you may be able to cancel without the ETF.
Out of curiosity, why would you want to cancel if you lucked into getting SERO? I'm sure a lot of people would love to have that happen to them. :)

Thank you Kentonese for taking the time to answer my questions!
I will likely end up porting my number back to Sprint (my original carrier) from Verizon and get the Sanyo M1 phone. It appears from the pictures I've seen online that the M1 has larger spacing on the keypad for dialing (that's why I loved the Motorola Timeport) as compared to the M610.
I'm 6'5" tall with size 16 shoes and I have very large hands/fingers LOL.
I'm hoping I can also add the Canada Roaming feature for $3 per month to the SERO plan??? That would allow me to make and receive calls in Montreal, to and from the US, for only $.30 per minute.
Then maybe I can remove the $3 Canada Roaming feature when I return and add it again when necessary???
No wonder people want to switch out of VERIZON and back to Sprint when verizon wants to charge $59.99!!! per month and a new 1-year contract to have "Canada Roaming?"
Sprint only charges $3 per month for Canada Roaming plus you DONT have to sign a new contract! Verizon is losing some customers for this simple reason. Is it worth it for them? That's bad business IMO.
Plus Verizon's night and weeeknd minutes start at 9pm instead of 7pm, and their phone selection isnt that great IMO.
Anyways, I just hope the SERO plan will still be available on MAY 20th (2 months from now) with the password: "holiday"? And I hope I can add features, like the $3 Canada Roaming, to the SERO plan???
Best wishes.

I can't think of any reason why you wouldn't be able to add the Canada Roaming feature once you have your SERO account setup. Aside from the nice features that come with SERO, in the end, it is just like any other Sprint plan. There may be a few more limitations to getting perks and discounts but you should be able to add/remove additional services as you see fit. I mean, you are willing to pay more money! How can they say no?? :)

Yes, I think I'll try that when 7PM ends for me later this year. The reason I haven't called back before is I want to be sure the rascals won't extend my contract in exchange for "free" 7PM!
CrazyGuy

This will probably extend your contract as it is a plan change. The 7PM N/W SERO does have a higher overage cost than the 9PM did.
Instead of $5.00 for 50 minutes the new 7PM SERO is $5.00 for 30 minutes.
If you ever go above your top tier, the overage is 20 cents a minute on the new 7PM N/W SERO versus 10 cents per minute on the 9PM SERO.
Most people won't mind the difference as it gives them the two additional hours, but those that routinely go over their minutes with before 7PM calls would want to consider this before updating their plan.

Thanks for the input. It's not a big deal for me, I normally have plenty of anytime minutes left at the end of the month thanks to Sprint to Home and mobile to mobile. They help alot!
When my credit for 7PM ends this year, will 7PM automatically drop off my plan OR will 7PM continue and I be CHARGED for the 7PM? :)

My guess is you will be charged, as the credit will expire while the option remains on your account.
CrazyGuy

You will be charged for the option unless you remove it before the credit expires.
At this point you can either ask to be switched to the 7PM SERO if it is still available or ask if you can get the 7PM N/W credit extended.

I may call employee accounts and ask if they will extend it (as the notes already in place said they would and didn't :bang: ) WITHOUT extending my 2 year contract. In other words renew the credit for one more year. :fingers:
Funny thing about this whole deal, a friend of mine was set up the same official way with Sero, the same time as me and got a NON-EXPIRING 7PM. Kinda like my bonus 680 anytime minutes!
The rep I dealt with earlier couldn't figure out :haha: how to set mine up that way and set it with the regular expiring credit (one or two year). Strange, isn't it? The weird and wonderful world according to Sprint...... :Popcorn2:

This is par for the course with Sprint.
I have 6PM N/W for free and was told that I would get to "enjoy this feature for as long as I was a Sprint customer."
Several reps actually told me this. Then one day I found out in casual conversation with a rep that the 6PM expires in 2 years, but that it will be extended for me when I renew my contract. I asked what could have happened and the rep didn't know. The rep couldn't figure out how to make it never expire again.
I don't have any complaints though since I am happy they gave me the 6PM for free in the first place and will agree to a new 2 year agreement in a heart beat in exchange for extending the expiration on the 6PM N/W and other perks I have when they expire.

Ok so here's my random question - I've searched but haven't found my answer yet --- so I signed up w/SERO (I currently also have an old F & C family plan that expires this month) and got the 700p - if I decide to exchange it (still w/in my first 30 days) with Sprint will that affect my rebates? I sent them almost 2 weeks ago but they are not showing up as of today.
Any help would be great!!!
Also I signed up with my hubby's info - can I call *2 or will they give me poop for not being the acct holder?
Thanks again!

If you signed up for SERO on the website and got the 700p from Inphonic, I think you will be charged the full price of the phone if you switch it out. I think you have to keep it for 6 months, or something like that. If you got the 700p and SERO through Sprint, then you should be able to switch it.
I am not 100% on your *2 question, but from what I have read, you might get pooped. Try it out though. The worst they can do is tell you that your hubby needs to call in.
Good luck! :)

Awesome! Thanks! I don't plan on switching, but thought I'd ask just in case. Also I'm planning on getting the acct switched over to my name when we go in to upgrade his phone (we're downsizing the family plan to just one line so that he doesn't have to hassle with getting the run around on keeping hiss # - plus we get to keep all of my discounts - so far 40%)
I'm hoping to add the CU credit, free text for college students & CD to the SERO - we'll see what happens.

this is my unanswered Q from SD:
Point24: I EXCHANGED A PHONE WITH SPRINT AND NOW I SEE A CREDIT INSTEAD OF A CHARGE. DID I JUST GET LUCKY?
Unfortunately not. Sprint has a funny way of exchanging phones. When you exchange a phone, they will first apply a credit to your account for the cost of the new phone. They will then charge your account (zeroing it out again) after you send them the old phone back. If you do not send the old phone back, they will charge you twice, so that you end up with one charge for the old phone.
MY Q
they will charge my account for both phones once the original phone is returned?
and what happens if I actually cancel the line within 30 days & return the phone what are the charges?

From what I understand the answer to that is no. Powersource phones are billed on the Nextel side of Sprint. It would be possible if you opened a new line of service on SERO with Nextel. They do have Nextel SERO plans but I do not know a email available to get in the Nextel SERO site.
From my experience they will not switch a present customer to a SERO plan over to Nextel. They would not move me from the Nextel side to the Sprint side on SERO even though they are pushing to get everyone over to Sprint.
I guess you could try with CS but its a hit or miss depending on which CS rep you get.

When I speak to a sprint rep and they tell me that the only way to get the sero plan is contingent on the following two stipulations are they being honest?
1) on a new line of service
2) only way to "GET" the plan is to do it online via the www.sprint.com/sero page
As I was asking her about the plan today she was typing away...will that affect my future chances of getting the plan?

I haven't switched to Sero RECENTLY so I'm not positive about the following, however LAST year employee accounts was switching people to Sero with a employee referral. Call them and ask if they still are.
If so get a Sprint employee's referral and you're set. As far as the new line of service, I and some other friends didn't, LAST year, and we went thru employee accounts with legimate referrals.
I wouldn't worry too much about the NOTES if you can get Sero using the above information.
Otherwise you may get lucky and get it thru a average csr or as a last resort the web site.

Don't worry about the "Unlimited Vision Access". They all say that. If your phone is a PV phone, then you will have a PV plan associated with it. If you have a Vision phone, then you will have a Vision plan.
PV = EVDO. You are not getting screwed. :)
There is no difference between the PV SERO plan and the Vision SERO plan. They offer the same features. What differentiates the two is that Vision is the equivalent of dial up and PV is the equivalent of broadband. That's all it really is.
Everything on your account is as it should be.

The reason I like tech so much is last time I did a esn swap, I called cs and they were clueless :p , I thanked the rep, hung up, and called tech.
FIVE minutes later the tech rep was finished with the swap! Tech has been more helpful on other issues too, the fact is their training is more extensive (their words) than standard reps. Call'em!

Without knowing what plan you have...you *MAY* have problems if you are on the $30/mo plan. To officially qualify for a 1 year discount ($75.00) your monthly recurring must be $34.99 or higher. No, adding extra features does not count ;) But...you can do a couple things...1st, switch to the next highest plan and switch back the month following your receiving the disount; or 2nd call retention. Here's my story:
My one year credit was due to be available May 1. I thought if I had text plan of $5.00 it would count towards the minimum needed of $34.99. It doesnt. I called retentions and explained I love my plan, hate my phone, and I honestly thought the $5.00 text package would qualify me (which I really did think). I told her I really need a new phone. She said this one time she would get a phone for me less $75.00, but only through her (the store will NOT honor that). I picked the Upstage and got it $75.00 off, and the remainder billed to my account. That easy.
Let me say this...SERO is an awesome plan as we all know. I see so many people trying to get free this or free that which is fine for them. I personally dont feel comfortable trying to trick some rep into giving me something free based on a false statement of unhappiness or whatever. IMHO retention is abused.
That said, YMMV. I personally had a great experience.

Ok this is the situation. I switched from the 300 free incoming plan to the 1250 minute sero plan April first. I normally talk about 1250 minutes so I figured I'd do that. But I was nowhere near 1250 minutes. I didn't even use a total of 400 minutes including my M2M minutes. So I decided to drop my plan to the 500 sero plan. I called Sprint off and on all day yesterday with an estimated wait time of 15 minutes that ended up being more than 25 minutes so I'd hang up and call back later. Well I never got through to Sprint. So last night I sent ecare an email that stated that I wanted to switch to the Sero 500 plan and that I would like it to be backdated for one day. This is the response:
Dear Mrs C.,
Thank you for contacting Sprint together with Nextel. I shall be happy to assist you today with your sero plan change.
Plan changed:
------------------
I have changed your plan to $30.00 sero plan with power vision pack for 500 minutes, effective today 05.02.2007. Please accept my apology as it cant be backdated for 05.01.2007. Overage will be charged $5.00 for each 30 minutes up to 800 minutes and over 800 minutes each minute will be $0.20. Your present month bill will include present month remaining day charges and one month in advance charge.
It has been my pleasure working with you to resolve your issue. If you have any further questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us.
Thank you for choosing Sprint as your wireless service provider. We value your business and your loyalty. Take care, and have a great day!

I have the A900m on my SERO 500. I'm considering getting the RAZR at full retail. Can I activate the phone without messing up anything with inphonic. I believe when you get a phone from Amazon and receive a discount it has to be active for 6 months or something. I just got a nice CSR to switch me to the SERO plan. I went to sprintpcs.com and check my plan details -- it said night/weekend minutes start at 9PM. I double-checked with the CSR while we did the switch in plans, and he assured me it would be 7PM. I sent an email to eCare trying to verify that my night/weekends would start at 7PM, as they always have for me for the last 3 years -- is this my best bet?

Yes, whateva they put in that email they have to do. I was told my nights would start at 7 but when I looked at my plan it said 9. I called customer service and they said it was at 9 but if my email stated 7 then they'd give it to me at 7 so I got the recurring $5 credit for that.

Well, I didn't get a confirmation email -- which is what prompted me to send a message to ecare. Then, to be honest, I got impatient :) So, I called *2. First person said it would cost me $5/mo, no way to add it.
Second call, same thing, so I said, maybe he put me in for a 9PM code w/ the SERO plan. She said there was no SERO plan code that starts at 7PM. I told her I had to respectfully disagree because I was looking at the plan right on my computer screen. I further explained that the original CSR who switched me said 9PM, then I told him to double-check because it was supposed to be 7PM. He then told me the old plans were at 9PM and now they are at 7PM, and it was just a different code. The rep told me that he must have been wrong, and she apologized for the 'misinformation'.
The THIRD call to *2, the CSR said, oh, he must have just put it in with the wrong code. There's two codes for SERO for $49.99 -- one at 9PM and one at 7PM. He then fixed it for me.
I'm pretty convinced the second CSR should have said "i'm sorry I'm a liar," because if she looked at the same drop-down menu as the final CSR, she'd have seen the 7PM option. If she didn't look at all, then she was lying because she implied that she looked and couldn't find the option. It's possible she has bad eyesight, or is stupid, but in reality, she didn't want to give me the plan I was requesting -- the plan that I had double-checked getting.
I've seen other threads where people call this a bunch of a whining and cheapness. I'm a grad student on loans to pay for everything from rent to food to books, etc. Every dollar counts. $15 a month is going to save me $180 a year. It may not be much to some people, but it is to me, and frankly, I don't see why Sprint's CSR's were so inconsistent.
At the end of the day, the two people who helped me -- the one who switched me and the one who corrected it to 7PM instead of 9, were very helpful, didn't ask me additional questions, didn't try to stop me from switching at all. It makes absolutely no sense whatsoever that the other reps would resort to lying.

A lot of times, I think CSR's just aren't informed or not trained to know- or worse just didn't want to spend the extra time to look up the information for you.
Also, I hear you man. $15 would have gotten me 3 medium pizzas at a gas station that I would walk to on sundays to buy food not so long ago in college!

Stuff like that post... 3 calls to get anyone who knows something clearly stated on the website... or to admit that its even possible.. is why Sprint Customer Service is so lowly rated. It's so weird to me. Some of the reps are super friendly, and some are just plain rude. So far almost every job I've ever had in life has been some form of a service job where I had to interact with customers on a daily basis. Being rude to them doesn't make sense most of the time and doesn't make your day any easier, either. Oh well, when I get in touch with someone rude, I always think, I'd rather talk to them than be them. :)

Does anyone know what happened at the sero site? They offer only 8 different phones and only two of which are smartphones. Just wondering if they realized how many people have sero and want to slow down the roller coaster or do they change the types of phones frequently. I have a SERO 500 account with a bunch of extras (FIMF, free text messaging, 5 off/mo, NVP discount, etc.).
I want to port a number I have from an expired account with another carrier into this account, replacing my current sprint phone number with the ported number. It is a different area code.
Will I lose all my bonus features?
Has anyone ported a number and kept nice bonus features?
Thanks

I have a friend who has Nextel service. Does anyone have access to a workable email addy to gain access to the Nextel side of SERO? The old standby addy I have used does not work.
NEVER MIND....got one to work, and I gotta say, NOTHING there compares with the Sprint SERO program!

As long as you are currently paying (own) the account with the "expired" number, then i beleive you can port any number you own directly into your current SERO account and replace your current sero number with no issues.

I touched on this a little bit on another thread but I think it's a question better asked here.
I got SERO through Sprint directly 2 weeks ago, before the switch from Inphonics.
I never saw anything about unlimited picture mail on my plan (on my account on sprint.com).
Then when I heard about the free unlimited text messaging this week, I figure I have nothing to lose by e-mailing e-care and asking for the text and the picture mail.
I got this response this morning:
"Dear Christopher,
Thank you for contacting Sprint. I will be happy to assist you regarding Unlimited Text Messaging.
I have successfully added the Unlimited Text Messaging for free on your account however, I am sorry to inform you that we do not offer any unlimited picture mail and I apologize for any misinformation.
You can also confirm the update after 4 hours after receiving this email from your online account.
Thank you again for emailing us, it was a pleasure serving you. Please feel free to write back if you have any further questions. I will be more than happy to assist you."
Hey, I'm thrilled to get the unlimited text.
Now my question is, after looking at sprint's site, it says unlimited picture mail is part of a Power Vision Access Pack.
From the Sprint site:
"The Sprint Power Vision Access Pack ($15/month) includes the following:
* Unlimited Data Access
* Unlimited Sprint Picture Mail NEW
* Unlimited Web Browsing
* Sprint Mobile eMail NEW
* On Demand
* NFL Mobile
* Sprint TV
* Sprint Music NEW & IMPROVED
* Sprint Navigation NEW - pay per day"
So is this unlimited EVDO I am getting with my SERO 500 plan?
And if it is, does that mean I ALREADY have unlimited picture mail?
Thanks for any help in clarifying this.

SERO comes with internet access and picture mail. Not all the other stuff.
For picture mail, you may have to call Sprint and have them add it on. Tech Support is pretty good at fixing that.

I have a question about SERO Billing
I bought my Sprint plan on May 31st, it was the 450 $39.99 plan.
I read these forums and emailed eCare to try and get the 500 SERO plan. They said I would get it starting my new billing period on June 4th.
Everything says that it chenged on June 4th.
But I see a bill of $41.60 on my Spring account. I was curious if this is a mistake on Sprints part.
I haven't bought any applications, ect with my phone.
I however viewed the internet on my phone and download a number of ringtones on free ringtone sites. I also watched Sprint TV on my phone but I didnt buy any channels.
Am I getting charged for my use of the internet or Sprint TV though the plan says this stuff is included?
Goodgyrl

Are you a new Sprint customer? your bill is $41 that's good. Because you're only being billed for a month and not the month and month in advance.

Prior to changing your plan did you have a Vision or Power Vision plan on the account? If not, you will be charged with casual data use ($.03 per kb). This includes viewing web pages on your phone, downloading ringtones (that aren't uploaded via a data cable), and watching Sprint TV (yes, even free channels).
After the plan change you shouldn't be charged for any of that casual usage.

So the Sprint TV you get with SERO is much different than even the basic Sprint TV plan.
The only channel I get is NFL Network, the rest is clips and music channels.
I'm not whining, I love NFLN but just CNN and the Weather Channel would be enough.
That's why I'm getting a Slingbox soon.

I have a question about cancelling - I opened my SERO 500 account in March, so it was through Inphonic. If I cancel before six months, will I be charged the full retail cost of the phone in addition to the ETF? I'm not sure if Inphonic required signing a third-party contract to that effect, so I just wanted to double check.
Goodgyrl

U only have 30 days to cancel. it's 3-6 months to switch plans around without having to resign your contract depending on when they decided to go from the 3 to 6 month change plan deal. So if you cancel right now you'll have to pay the ETF

I understand that. But my question is - if I cancel today, will I have to pay anything other than the ETF? IE, does Inphonic make you sign a third-party contract with additional stipulations? Where do I find out whether I "signed" a separate contract with Inphonic, and what were its terms?

If you don't mind me asking, why do you want to cancel a SERO plan? It is overall a pretty nice plan that is hard to be in the terms of cost to features ratio. Now if it is something with signal in your area, etc, then I don't know. Thanks.

You need to call out through the VM system so you can have "unlimited " outgoing so to speak.
I think it will only let you have 30 minutes per call, but still. My phone would catch on fire if I stayed on a call that long.

I was using the internet once and on the Vision homepage it had a link that gave me the channels to view for free, but the link changes from time to time. So the link isnt always there.

Woohooo! Just got SERO on the 1st try (where I actually reached a rep, not counting all the disconnected calls I had)!!!!!!!! Got SERO 1250 for my primary line.... but now what do I do about my other line? It's currently suspended, because the phone was stolen, and I had waived the TEP, so I'm shopping for another phone. Are there any SERO perks for this? Is there now way to share SERO minutes? I guess I could do 500 minutes on each line...

Can someone answer a few quick questions for me...
My current plan is - 20$ - 3000anytime - 1000NW - 9pm - 50$download credit - 5$ 300+50 text - PV - 20$ credit option - 7$TEC
My wifes plan is the powerpack 450 with a 23% discount and 5$ 300 text, no PV
If I were lucky enough to switch her plan to the 30$ 500 SERO, would it be possible for that rep... assuming she/he was incredibly nice .... to add the Unl texting / 7pm nights to my plan as well?
I notice that the current SERO plan has unlimited texting available until 6/30/07 using the openaccess10@sprint.com email, and would like to know if it would be interchangeable between my 3rd party employee plan and a SERO plan??
Also, I am in iPCS, so I am not lucky enough to have free roaming...........

I signed up for SERO on 5/21 and got a Treo 755p. Now it looks like the Mogul (6800) may actually come out on 6/18 and I really want one. I know I should be able to exchange the Treo for the Mogul and pay whatever the price difference is as long as it's within 30 days. I'm wondering what my options are in case there's a delay due to the ITC ban. Does it sound reasonable that I could cancel my SERO plan and return my Treo, then sign up again for the Mogul? I would just need to make sure I sign up again before 6/31 so I can get free unlimited SMS. Or does this sound too risky?

If it were me, I would not risk losing the SERO plan just to trade-out phones. There is always some new phone coming out to replace the "old" phone. Heck, my Sanyo M1 that was released in December 2006 appears to be at EOL in June. Just six to seven months later this is typical of cell phone shelf life.

When I emailed eCare about adding the unlimited text to my SERO plan since it was being included now I was told my contract would renew for 2 years if they added it. They also made it sound like 6/30 was not only the end date of that offer, but that the unlimited texting only lasts until 6/30. I may call and have them explain it and switch me. I don't plan on leaving any time soon with plans as cheap as the SERO plans.

Not sure why they made it sound that way, but as it stands right now, if you get the FREE unlimited text messaging by 06/30/2007, then it is on your plan for at least the two years of your contract. I think it actually is a permanent code, but not sure. However, from reading many of the posts here, you will see that many people have confirmed with multiple reps that the free text messaging is at least for the span of your contract.

If you go to current usage, you will see the text option set to "unlimited".
It's not listed on the details, and it is billed at $0.00 as an addon.
Any rep who tells you it will extend your contract is full of it. It's an attachable option.

It really depends who you talk to. Technically Sprint can force a contract renewal if they want to. This is not a feature that is being added to a existing SERO plan. For people who had SERO plans prior to the Unlimited Text Messaging offer, this is considered a plan change.

When this was first talked about, I called customer service, employee accounts, retentions and tech support. All of them said it is an attachable option that doesn't require a contract renewal. They also said the texting option was included with NEW sero signups but is available to existing sero customers. It isn't considered a plan change because the option is freely applied and not "part" of the sero package.

Hmm, that's the exact opposite of what the CS told me when I added Unlimited Texting. He was probably blowing smoke, though, because I emailed E-Care the next day to confirm the addition, and also inquired about my contract fulfillment date, and it hadn't changed.

So far we have these response from customer care:

3. "Free Texting" ability only available till 6/30/07.
4. Not free.

ok ... question for you all. my wife and I have a shared fair and flexible family plan. her contract is up and I've got a few months left on mine. after calling e-care, retentions, employee accts I'm about ready to jump out a window. long story short ... every person I've talked to has given different information related to sero and none of them were willing to switch us over.
so, can we each call and get a sero plan (new line of service, new #s, etc.) and then call and cancel our original F&F plan? I know I'll be stuck with an ETF, but I don't care at this point. I would assume a person can have multiple accts all in the same name, but I wanted to check here first.
any help is appreciated.

She can cancel her line without paying the ETF and resign with Sero since she's out of contract. For you to do this are ya'll eligible for a 3rd line? If so then I'd say go for it. Ya'll will be able to get new phones at the new customer pricing. I myself have two Sero accounts and 1 non Sero account with Nextel.

I ordered two new SERO lines (with new numbers - didn't care about the old numbers) and will cancel the shared plan this weekend when it's up. I just have a question though, i read on another post about what comes with all the SERO plans. And i saw that u/l text and picture msg was unlimited. And when i looked under my account and plan overview.. it says u/l sms messages.. but when i talked to a rep later, he told me that i would have to pay 10 dollars for u/l text started next billing cycle. and he would give me 100 until 7/07.
Question is , is text and picture messaging suppose to be u/l. Also should i have asked for more messages then 100?

Picture messaging is supposed to be unlimited and you should not be paying for that.
The unlimited texting option is free until 6/30/2007. So I would not pay $10 for it. I'd call back and tell the rep that answers that you got Sero last week and see on Sero's website that Sprint is offering Unlimited texting for free until 6/30/07 and that's what you want and to remove the 100 texts.

You can have it added. Be aware that they may restart your contract. It just depends on the rep.
Thanks to jumonjii for the code:
#C SERO SMS UNL $0
Well, good news and bad news. The good news is that they added unlimited texting for free without renewing my contract. The bad news is that they took off my corporate discount without my permission. I have a SERO 500 plan and then a discount my dad gets from his old job which is about 20% or so. She said I can't have both, even though I have had both for almost a year. My friend has a SERO with a discount as well. I'm pretty pissed right about now....

Any idea where the thread with the list of discounts is? I can't find it. Maybe his current job has a similar discount.

Hmmm okay...so you're pissed because Sprint removed a discount that "technically" you shouldn't have anyway.
You can email ecare and ask if your dad's current employer offers a discount.

I suppose you do make a good point, I'm just annoyed that they went ahead and removed it without my permission just because they don't want me to have it. Had she removed it because of the fact that he shouldn't actually be receiving it anymore, well, I'd be bummed, but at least it would be a fair reason.

It depends on the rep. Most don't care. I've had reps look at my plan and say I shouldn't have this, or I shouldn't have that.
I tell them I have it because I shouldn't have to call every month and get my account straightened out, but I do, so I do.
I also tell them I can get better customer service, better phones, and better wireless service elsewhere but Sprint keeps bribing me to stay. This is the plan I have now, so I, and Sprint, would really appreciate it if was left intact. I'd hate to call, yet again, to get it fixed or cancel service because a rep "feels" like removing stuff that they have no idea why it was put there in the first place.
I understand your point too. If I quit my job, would I call Sprint and tell them? No I sure wouldn't.
If a rep removed stuff from my plan I'd be calling Gary Forsee. I may be a small fish, but it's the principle of the matter.
At any rate, ecare can do employee discounts.

How do you know for sure that the rep removed it, simply because they didn't want you to have it? Did the rep actually give that as a reason?

Hello, this is my first time posting. I would have never known about the u/l texts for SERO if it weren't for SU.com. An e-care rep added u/l texts onto my account for $0.00/month a few days ago. I'm just wondering if that's suppose to show up in my Plan Details when I log into Sprint.com? Nowhere does it say Unlimited SMS Messages in my Plan Details. When I checked my account information through Vision, under current usage it said "unlimited text messages". Since then, I have removed the $5/month for 300 texts and because of the changes, my current usage is no longer available until the next billing cycle. Also under Plan Overview through Vision, it shows:
- Adjustable Anytime Minutes
...etc.
- Voicemail
- *
- ADDITIONAL ANYTIME MINUTES
- ADDITIONAL ANYTIME MINUTES
- CANCELLATION CHARGE: $200.00
- UNLIMITED SMS MESSAGES
My question is, is it safe to say that the u/l texts is now included in my plan? I've used a whole lot already. I'm also not sure what ADDITIONAL ANYTIME MINUTES mean and why it appears twice.

Well it's not she didn't WANT me to have it, she said I COULDN'T have it with a SERO plan...
"Upon reviewing your account, I do see that you are currently both set up on a Sprint SERO plan receiving a Corporate Discount. The Sprint SERO Plan is a discounted rate plan for friends and family members of Sprint employees to enjoy. Regrettably the Sprint SERO plan is not compatible with a monthly corporate discount. Due to this, one of these discounts must be removed. I apologize for any inconvenience that this may cause."
I'm on the phone with them now. At first she said it's not true. Then she went and asked and said I can't. I told her I've had it for months, so obviously it's possible. I said I wouldn't complain if I had been told from the start, but I've had it for months... waiting waiting.

Yes. It won't show up in your plan details, but it will show up under current usage.
As for the double message, it could be a glitch. I'd wait a month and see if it doesn't clear up.

U/L text, roaming, pcs to pcs, vision, picture mail, N/W at 7 and all of it for $30 per line. You don't know how good you have it. Don't go to the well too many times or it will come up dry.

They did have a reason. While the system will allow a corporate discount on a SERO plan, Sprint's guidelines state that you are not allowed to have a SERO plan with a corporate discount.
OK, I need some help please... I understand unlimited text...
1) But what exactly is unlimited data? Is this free phone as modem??? Is this free mobile broadband connection plan??? Or more likely unlimited sprint vision pack or sprint power vision access pack???
I just got 2 free M1's from retention in the mail, but have not activated them yet, I'm still in my 30 day window. My signal strength in my home downstairs sucks!!! I need the ultimate pack and my wife needs the music pack. Retention gave us both for $25 and a 15% plan discount on the 1400 family plan, with 200 extra minutes and 500 free text per line. Also $400.00 service credit. I think this is a good deal except for my lousy signal strength. If I can add a third analog phone for free I'll stay with Sprint otherwise I'm off to AT&T to the Sony 810i. My bill will be about $100.00 per month before I get my corporate discount applied, that should save me 25%, knocking my bill down to $75.00.
2) My calcs show two 1250 sero plans would costs exactly the same as what I have now, providing they allow you to add the music pack for $5. and the ultimate for $10. Assuming that unlimited data is the vision/access pack only. If it's phone as modem and or mobile broadband here I come SERO!!! If not and they give me a free third phone that has analog and waive the monthly fee, I'll probably stay with Sprint foreverer. We've been with Sprint since the original Touchpoint back in 1998/1999. So funny they used the Touchpoint in that movie I saw last night on the dish called "Rumor Has It", decent movie with some laughs. Damn I'm gett'n old... :bang:

Thank you for participating in Sprint's discount program through (my employer).
You can expect to receive the discount within the next 60 days.
An additional email will be sent prior to your next bill providing you with additional information regarding your account.
Should you have questions regarding your account please contact Customer Service by dialing *2 on your Sprint phone.
Thank you again for your participation in our discount program.

I don't think it says anything specific about corporate discounts, but it does state on the SERO webpage "offers not combinable with other offers".
This is very broad and includes corporate discounts although many reps add discounts without knowing they weren't supposed to.

Just wanted to give everyone a heads up about SERO.
Yesterday, Sprint canceled my SERO plan, and moved me to the $39.99 Fair and Flexible 450 plan which includes none of the nice SERO perks
I called and asked why, and to sum it up here's what happened.
When I activated, I activated the phone in an area code where SERO is supported. Two weeks later, I ported my number and because the area code of the ported number "does not quality for SERO" due to the indirect market, so they yanked my SERO plan out of from under me. I asked them to re add it because I never authorized the change and they said they can't just add a sero plan. So for those of you who are porting numbers, be sure that your ported number is not in an indirect market.

The current SERO offer is 1250 minutes with unlimited text and data for $59. Does the unlimited data include Phone as Modem? I am interested in purchasing the 6800 and I am trying to budget weather I'll be paying $59 phone and data or if it will be $59 + $49 for phone as modem.
Thanks,

The 1250 plan is $49.99
Unlimited data is via the web browser on the phone.

Seems to be something with the way the SERO Plans have Vision provisioned into the plan itself and not a separate feature.

I called Sprint to ask about the SERO plans and the girl said that she needed the employee that would be referring me and, of course, I don't have one. Can someone give me some detailed advice on how to go about getting on one of these plans? I've been with Sprint since 2001 if that helps any. If I can't swing a SERO plan any ideas on other discounts (I only have the military discount) would be helpful. Thanks!

Your wrong about analog, the Sammy 300 and the katana are amps and so is the 3200 which comes out next week and all three of those have bluetooth and cameras. Sprint has a few others like the 3100 and the lg 150, either no camera or no bluetooth. The carriers can't start to dismantle amps till after Feb 18, 2008. So amps should be valid for about 1 year or so. Onstar uses amps as does home security companies. Rural America will be screwed for a while, and maybe forever, as the carriers are very slow to replace amps with digital technology. Lots of square miles here in the great pacific northwest only covered by amps. A guy died a few weeks ago after falling into the river while fishing and hitting his head. His son had no cell signal as he had digital service only. A guy in a boat came by 10 minutes later with analog and called 911 but it was too late by then. When I drive to the coast a large portion of the drive is amps only. Gotta have amps if I can. Now I anticipate more phones being both cdma and gsm in order to expand coverage after amps is phased out permanently. It only makes sense. Those phones exist now and are referred to as world phones for travelers. Sprint sells one now I believe and it goes on sale next week as it is the 6700 pocket pc?
Should be an additional $10 max per line to add the ultimate pack. I know of someone getting the tv for free due to poor quality. I don't see any reason they would not allow you to pay more $ per month for music, tv, and nav packs! This is an important issue for me, I can't switch to sero if it is not allowed! I can't take the risk of these packs being taken from me!?!?

I am not advocating lying, but if you just want to say that "I would like to switch my plan because I just resigned my 2 year contract, and then I heard about this SERO plan from a Sprint Employee. Also, I should mention that you should try and say all of this BEFORE you actually give them your account information. That way, if the rep says, sorry the SERO account is only for new accounts, or only through the website, or whatever, you can just politely say thank you and hang up. By doing this, your account doesn't get notated that you called in trying to get the SERO and got turned down.
