I Just wanted to contribute my two cents about my phones.

I am actually a Qwest subcriber and have pcs vision as an option on my service plan. I needed a new phone after my nokia 5185i stopped displaying the first 3 lines of the LED screen. I decided on the sanyo4920 for the audio, speaker phone, and the advertised battery life.
The 4920 was from the start just too small for my hand to dial comfortably and the chrome finsh made it very slippery when my hands were very dry. I work in construction and thought the 4920 was the best option. The battery life was simply unreal. I could go for a week of regular use without a re-charge. I liked the voice recorder for field conversations and dictation notes. all in all, it was a pretty good phone, ...until i dropped it a few times.

The first "fumble" had the battery beakaway from the phone and looked very bad, but it still worked ok. the second time however, i lost use of the down arrow on the multi function scroll key, but only intermittently.
not long after that, the [BACK] and [END] keys were acting up too.
a week later the screen went black, and well .... that was that.
i had it for 1 year almost to the day when it went kaput.
I am pretty carefull with my phone, but did not have a case for it and that was my own fault.

So, without any warranty left, i headed to the Qwest kiosk at the mall to get a new phone. I looked at the samsung mp3 music phone, and decided, if i had to pay full retail for a new phone, (because i still had 1 year left on a 2 year plan) the difference of $50 for the music phone was not a problem. Of course, they were fresh out of stock and i needed a phone now.

The sales guy asked me what became of my other phone, and after telling him, he suggested the sanyo4930. I was not amused. He said, " no, it's really a completely different phone" and as he handed me his personal 4930, I was very suprised. The bigger phone felt good to hold, and the large button keys were easy to handle vs those little rubber nubs on the 4920. The Screen was brighter, the phone just feels solid, and balanced. It has 2 times more digital audio recording memory (130 minutes), Voice Prompts, a nice LOUD Ringer that reads the callers name after the ring, voice activated services( just say, contact |dial |number |find contact |phone status |international |tools |help and the phone will do, find, or whatever you ask ).
Well almost. It still won't cook me breakfast in the morning, but hey, it's just a phone :whip: right?

This Phone has and does all what i expect a phone to do, and it never lets me down. SMS, Email, Download Content, Messenger, all work great. It has an answering machine, that will catch messages before the go to voicemail if desired. Voice recorder is great for storing conversations and quotes for later replay if needed. The T9 text entry is just ok, It will not learn new words in yahoo mail, but that's about the only thing i can come up with, otherwise , it's a dreamphone.

The outside is inlaid with rubber bumpers and it came with a neoprene case that pretty much makes it float and bounce. :tu: I have had it 7 months now, and dropped it numerous times and it really does bounce off concrete quite nicely. It has rubber covers for the data and ear ports to keep them clean. I charge it 2 times a week ( and i use all of my monthly 1500 minutes, and send 5-10 emails and sms's per day.) So it get's a lot of airtime use, and the battery lasts and lasts...

So, If you need a good PHONE this is one to look at for sure.

Understand this, I take pictures with a camera, i watch TV on a televsion set, and I listen to music on my ipod, NOT MY PHONE.
This is not a multi pixel broadband digital wonder toy, It is an excellent phone, and is strictly audio oriented.

So, thanks to the guy at the Qwest kiosk, and thanks to Sanyo for designing a great product for the Construction Niche.
