I was wondering if anyone knew how to get out of a sprint contract. I have had the phone for 3 years and startes a new contract about a year ago but I moved and now I just am dropping calls at my house reapetedly and my sister's house, my mom's house, and my work needless to say alot of other places. I also think there service has went straight down hill from how it was before. I tried to call to see if I could get out of it because pretty much anywhere I am at I cannot use my phone unless it is roaming which I was told when i got my family plan that it was included but when I called sprint to cancel they were reveiwing my account and was wondering why I didn't have roaming on my phones (kinda my own fault for not examining my bills thats why they have been so expensive). So by now along with me having the vision plan on my phone and them telling me I didn't have it on my phone so there was another $70 fee for uploading picture I am ready to be done with Sprint. Any suggestions would be helpful. Thanks

michelle,
if you cant get service on your phone in your area (sprint doesnt cover) the area. sprint will waive your ETF. other then that im pretty sure you have to.
just dont go to cingular please!

1. Could be the phone. My old phone dropped calls all the time. My new one doesn't at all.
2. You could call retentions and see if they can do anything about getting you set up with a better plan.
3. You could try celltradeusa.com or resellular.com to sell your contract.

Nope, no more. (unless you get a real nice rep, but even then i dont think so)
They stopped that about 6 months ago. Rationale = 30 day trial period

You could pay $5 extra per month for the roaming until your contract ends. As for the uploading I dont know, that's something extra.

But if you move into an area where you don't have service, you can still get out ETF free.

30 day trial period after moving? Are you suggesting he "try" the new home, and then move because he can not get a signal?

Sprint will also have you try nextel before considering waiving the ETF.

i would try new equipment first, see if you can get a loaner from someone.
how far apart are these locations where your calls are always getting dropped? is there a chance there is just a service problem that tech could be made aware of instead of canceling your service?
the coverage there is spotty with sprint, but i'm betting that verizon has great coverage there and a roaming plan should fix it.

The way i understand it is:
Sprint didnt make you move.
Sprint offers coverage with roaming agreements.
If you can't use your phone at home, its not sprints fault you choose to move.
I can see being upset if you had good service and suddenly the service went downhill. They can be having other issues in the area you are unaware of. If I choose to move to Ohio where my aunt lives (no cellular service at all) I dont think sprint should have to let me go ETF free. It was to some extent my choice where I moved to.
If the OP has to cancel service, I hope he/she can negotiate a fair ETF with sprint. 1 year into a 2 year contract and for a "no coverage" reason sprint may waive part of the ETF. As stated, he/she will have to be REALLY lucky to go ETF free though.
Good Luck!

your best bet is try a new phone. before you do anything else. sprint doesn't downgrade their servce in anyway. if your dropping calls and not getting service you use to then its prolly your phone. it could be as simple as a software upgrade or a prl update.

Right, they have made it now that unless you are forced to move due to military or something similar to that, you will still get charged and ETF because you chose to move on your own free will. It really sucks but when it was available it was abused to no end so they had to put an end to it. Few bad apples spoil the whole bunch. But like everyone else stated, roaming plans and a newer cellphone should cure your problem, but getting a new phone that isn't paid retail for will resign your 2 year contract.

To me it sounds like you need a PRL update for the phone. I had that issue before where calls were dropped alot. Since you said you just moved maybe you should take the phone into a local store and see what is going on with it.
