I looked through the search and couldn't find, so I figured I'd ask. Anyone know any good "ebay" like auction websites that sells cellphones or even a retailer that sells them for great prices? Looking to buy without a contract. :)

beware of craigslist. Besides all the scams you will recieve, Beware of flagged ESNs. I guess that also goes for ebay, but I personally know someone who recieved a stolen phone off craigslist

Stick with Ebay and be careful! Do not buy a cell phone from any Ebayer that has ANY negative feedback and that hasn't been a member for at LEAST several years.
The scammers will have negative feedback and most likely will have been on there a limited period of time. You know, hit and run and move on to a fresh crop of victims....... ;)

very important, on top of the rating. ask for the ESN number of the phone. It's not a security risk for them to give it to you. It's good for you to have, so you can call sprint and make sure the phone wasn't stolen, or they claimed it lost and got a new one, selling the "lost" phone

Most sellers like me wont give the esn number unless payment has been received. I do sell alot of phones and have 100% positive feedback so I pass on give me to check esn questions

I agree, only the winner of the auction should even ask for the ESN number. Make sure the listing says "clean ESN" and pay with paypal.
If the phone wont be activated by sprint due to ESN issues, you will get your money back.

I would strongly recommend only buying from a seller who accepts PayPal (or any other method of payment that offers the buyer full protection). None of that money order or personal check junk.

I've found one of the best guards againist fraud (in general) is using Credit Cards to pay for the purchase. With a little push Banks will get after thieves trying to con innocent consumers paying with cc's. It works great for ebay or any purchase.......
When you use cc's in conjunction with PayPal you've got it under control. Once again, remember don't buy from anyone with less than 100% positive feedback and at LEAST several years on Ebay! This is a good rule of thumb when considering ANY ebay purchase. ;) :)
