I have a Nokia VI3155, and I'm trying to put custom pictures on my phone. I have the data cable & Nokia software, and I put a JPG file in the Screen savers folder, but it doesn't appear in the menu on the phone.

Is there some format conversion I need to do? Does the Nokia not support straight JPEG files? I've searched for hours to find an answer, and I don't know what I'm missing. A little help, please? TIA,

B

Hrm, that's weird. Random question, but you have enough memory left in your phone to hold the pic? I just transferred three JPEGs via USB to my phone, both in the main 'Downloads' directory and in the 'Screen Savers' sub-directory. All the pictures showed up fine on the phone and are able to be set as wallpaper.

I guess the only thing I can suggest for now is to try and transfer the pictures to 'Downloads' (the folder one level on top of the Screen Savers folder). For future reference, you would probably have a little better response posting your questions in the Nokia sub-forums here since it seems us Sprint Nokia users are a small lot. ;)

Gene, thanks for the reply. I do have plenty of memory in the phone. Maybe the naming convention was wrong? Is the Nokia OS case-sensitive for file names? Does it prefer a four-letter .JPEG filename extension, or .JPG?

I honestly cannot say because all of the files I've used (to my knowledge) have been lowercase, 3-letter (.jpg) If anything, it should be easy for you to test the different combos. Have you had any success transferring files to a folder other than Screen Savers? Also, I'm assuming you are using the Nokia Phone Browser included in the Nokia PC Suite- the picture shows up on the browser after you've transferred it?
