View Full Version : 8400 vs Fusic

Size/Weight - Comparable. Fusic is a little slimmer, but I use a holster 99% of the time so it doesn't matter to me.

Speaker Quality - I'd have to give the edge to the 8400 here. The earpiece is really loud, even on 1. I had to constantly adjust my Fusic depending on who I was talking to or what I was doing.

Voice Dialing - Fusic has a much more advanced voice recognition system. No more voice tags. However, the 8400 is easier to use once you have the tags recorded. It takes about 10 seconds to place a voice activated call with the Fusic, and about 2 with the 8400.

Build Quality - The 8400 just seems better put together than the Fusic. While the 8400 has it's own issues with random reboots and what have you, the Fusic seems to have them with more mundane tasks. I exchange my Fusic because it would lock up almost daily, just while in stand-by, or when receiving two text messages at the same time. The Fusic also loses here because of a lack of a data port charger. Barrel chargers are terrible.

EVDO Features - The On Demand menu is a lot more refined in the 8400. The media player seems to handle video better, and I had lot less stuttering with the sprint TV with the 8400 than the Fusic.

Misc Features - The only thing I really really miss from the Fusic is selective call block. Why every phone doesn't have this is beyond me, but it's a great feature, one that actually made me think twice about exchanging. However, the ability to back up contacts to your SD card on the 8400 makes me happy. I do also miss the MP3 controls on the outside of the Fusic, but not enough to pay the extra money for an M1.

Finish - Both are pretty nice looking phones, I just wish there were more faceplate color choices. The Fusic has been out for a good while now, and nothing to choose from except pink black blue or green. What about a dark blue, or a red, or any other number of colors. Hell, think about the money that could be made from NFL or NBA faceplates. I would have bought a Colts faceplate on day one if they were available.
With the 8400, it's the same thing. It's been out a while, and some new facemasks would be awesome. Although I do love the blue on it's own, and don't really want to cover it up.

Overall, I'd say the 8400 wins without a doubt. The Fusic suffers from too many quality issues with it's reboots and random weird problems such as accessing ringers causing the phone to reboot, call log not saving, going into digital and analog roam while roaming mode being set to sprint only, the phone freezing while in standby, (yes, these all happened in the 25 days I had my Fusic) for me to give it the edge. In the 14 days I have had my 8400, the only time it has rebooted on me was when I tried to view a video on myspace with Opera Mini. I'm not about to hold my using of a third party browser to view a page that wasn't designed for phones against the 8400.
