View Full Version : SERO.......... Loyalty / Business Discount questions

Dan

This thread is for posting your attempts on getting your business discount applied or a loyalty discount added to the SERO plan. As the plan is HEAVILY discounted already, dont be suprised if you are turned down.

Requests on how to get the plan, or how to get free options added each have their own thread. Please use the appropriate thread! :)

First one to post! Sorry, just had to...

But just so I post something that relates to the thread, I am still working on getting my work discount on my plan. :fingers:

25% corporate discount on top of the SERO plan, also recently got 500 free text messages. Bill $27.15 after taxes. Always have dropped calls, never paid over $26.00 so far.

on the 1250 minute SERO plan. I called sprint to comfirm, I should be getting 20% of bills starting the 13th thanks to my job. I also get FIMF, 6PM nights and free unlimited text messaging. I'd say I did well

Courtesy of SU, I found out about SERO and Govt discounts at the same time last year, and ended up adding a SERO 500 line in Jan 2006. A week or so later I called *2, asked about a "discount for Govt employees", and they transferred me to Business Accounts if I remember correctly.

After a few minutes of discussion, and providing a work number along with my manager's name, they told me that the 15% Govt discount would start the next billing period. It's been on both lines ever since (Feb/Mar of 2006).

I signed up for SERO in Dec 2006 about two weeks later I called to add my corp discount was put throught to the business dept. They asked me where I worked & said it will be applied to my acct in the next 60 days.
I received the following e-mail that evening

Dear Customer,

Thank you for participating in Sprint's discount program through VHA INC..
You can expect to receive the discount within the next 60 days.
An additional email will be sent prior to your next bill providing you with additional information regarding your account.

Should you have questions regarding your account please contact Customer Service by dialing *2 on your Sprint phone.
Thank you again for your participation in our discount program.

It has not been 60 days yet so i can't confirm it has been added.

I switched to SERO end of Dec. 06. I waited until my next online bill was correct and call to ask for the Credit Union 10% discount. I also got this email that day:

Dear Customer,

Thank you for participating in Sprint's discount program through CREDIT UNION MEMBERS.
You can expect to receive the discount within the next 60 days.
An additional email will be sent prior to your next bill providing you with additional information regarding your account.

Should you have questions regarding your account please contact Customer Service by dialing *2 on your Sprint phone.

They said I'd be getting an email, but I don't remember recieving any. Maybe I got the one saying to wait up to 60 days until it would show up on my bill

But I called, and they confirmed that I will be getting 20% off my bill. Sounded too easy. They didn't ask for my work number or bosses name or anything. Just took me on my word. How will they check? They said I'd be revieving it though

Remember, your loyalty discpount wasnt as "big" a deal as the severely cut rate price of the SERO plan.

You will be quite loyal if you switch back to the more expensive plans and just take your loyalty discount!

Interesting to hear a loyalty disc being removed after going to sero. I had actually gotten my 15% loyalty added after switching to sero.

Kind of suprised they'd remove it, I'd definitely suggest speaking with retentions/account services, as ecare naturally doesn't want to help with such (and ecare may not even have access to those codes at times pending the rep you get).

While I was able to add my Credit Union Discount, I was not able to add my loyalty discount with my SERO plan. I'll be perfectly honest when I say it's not that big a deal to me. I'm already paying so little for that phone line that I almost feel bad for it. Not bad enough to switch to a regular plan mind you!

Okay, disregard previous statement. I was TOLD I was getting my Credit Union Discount. They even changed my billing date. But it was kicked back. When I got my bill, it wasn't showing any discount, but did show the billing date changed. So I called business services and they explained that it wasn't going to qualify, and unfortunately not all the reps knew that. I'm not complaining at all, it's a great plan, a great deal! I made sure to let the rep know I wasn't complaining, although she did find it odd that they changed the billing date, even though the discount wasn't applied.

Again, I was told I was getting the discount, but it didn't happen. I'm not complaining it's a fabulous plan, a great bargain and I'm thankful for it!

I guess Sprint is going through their Sero accounts to make sure various discounts are getting phased out. I think right now it's a hit or miss thing whether you fall through the cracks.

Just continue to check your bills closely each month.

Dear Albert,

Thank you for contacting Sprint together with Nextel. I will be happy to assist you regarding the Text Messaging option.

The Text Messaging option on the #***-***-**** has the monthly service charge of $15.00. I have reduced the Text Messaging option price to $10.00 per month. So, from the next month you will be charged $10.00 for this option instead of $15.00.

We offer 15% discount for the employees of Army National Guard. Currently, we are not offering employee discount on SERO plan. As you have the SERO plan on your account, you are not eligible for employee discount.

I really want to help you this regard, so I have added 15% loyalty discount on your account. So, from the next month onwards you will get the 15% discount on your monthly service charges.

Thank you for contacting Sprint, we were happy to assist you. Please feel free to write back if you have any other questions.

Have a great day!

Question: Hi I was just wondering if I could get my unlimited text pricing lowered because of how much I text now adays being that I work as an indirect dealer for Sprint. Being that I'm reaching a year and I make payments on time. I'll renew my contract happily for my *** number since I love the company....being that I been paying unlimited texts for $15 for a long time. I have recently had bad reception at work and I need a way to get the word out in emergencies or important events in the company...also besides working for as an indirect dealerI would like to ask to put my military discount that I'm in the Army National Guard....I like Sprint and their excellent service and that's why I have 3 lines with you and 1 with nextel because of the features. Anyways Thanks

Just curious, if you don't mind me asking, since you got such a good deal. How long have you been a customer with sprint? Do you have additional lines of service, or just the one you have on SERO now? Thanks.

When I first got the SERO 500 plan back in March 2006, I was able to keep my 12% employer discount. Fast track to Feb 1. I was offered a discount towards a new phone (was surprised since my plan was under $35) Anyway, after I get the new phone, I called to get it activated. Took the tech rep 30 mins to figure out how to switch me from the non-evdo SERO to the evdo SERO but it was taken care of.
On my following bill, I notice that my discount was much smaller. I called and was told I was no longer eligible for the discount. I told them that when I signed up for the plan way back when, I was told I could keep this discount. I asked to be transfered to someone who could help me.

The man told me that I could not have my discount anymore, but, to make up for it, he would give me 500 free texts each month for the next 2 years. (I was paying $5 for 300). I would save 60 cents by having the free texts instead of the discount. I was happy.

I get my next bill, and my discount is back to full amount AND I'm getting 500 free texts. The name of my discount changed, now it's just called "Sprint Employee Value Program". Before it was called "Nationwide Volume Program Discount"

So either the rep accidently gave me another discount, or just told me one thing and did another (which is perfectly fine to me) :headbang2

SERO 500, 500 free texts, and a discount of $4.20. My total bill after taxes is about 29 dollars.

My advise: If you got a good deal that you "technically" aren't suppose to have, don't draw any attention to yourself. Don't call reps (who may notice through their snooping) and don't be late on your bill. And hopefully you'll be good to go.

I have my 25% Business discount. The MAIN reason I have it is because when I switched to the SERO plan it was still "new to the scene", so there were alot of things in the gray area. Reps probably had'nt been told yet that SERO customers shouldn't get business discounts. HOWEVER, if you call into Sprint and ask to speak with the business department then asked for your discount, they'd PROBABLY give it to you.

I got my 500 Txts for free because the Sprint Website used to have Txt MEssages listed under vision, plus I was also told by SEVERAL sprint reps that Sero included Free txting, and so Customer Care decided to offer me free 500 txts, but this was before they had a 500 free txt code....so i just have an $8 SMS credit on my account, then I upgreded to unlimited txt and I still had the $8 credit. I got my N&W for $5 because a retentions rep offered it to me, and I got my Ready Link for free because the company I work for gets ready link for free.

I have been a business customer since I signed on with sprint in Dec. 2001. I have always received my 25% discount, and have always paid bills on time. I just called yesterday and was able to change to the SERO plan on the first attempt. I asked the lady if I would be able to keep my business discount and she said yes. I guess I will have to see if this is true.

I've noticed some people around here boast of a 20% business discount as well as a 15% loyalty discount. If I still have my business discount after my next billing cycle, I will try to get the loyalty discount as well.

I already tried once (before asking for SERO, meaning I was a legitimate plan customer) to get the loyalty discount on top of my business one, and the lady told me I could only have one or the other......

I don't want to push the envelope though.

I was told via ecare that my law enforcement discount of 20% would be applied to my SERO account. They also changed my 300 sms for free to 500 sms for free. While I do not expect the discount to take, I'll keep my fingers crossed anyway.

Just got my first SERO bill.....

My bills used to avg. around $45 after discounts and all. I was paying for a 39.99 plan, 20.00 PV pack, 7.00 insurance.

My new bill was $24.45!!! I am getting 100 extra AT minutes, as well as unlimited roaming and vision. I had to add the $5 picture pack since the SERO doesn't come with it, and I kept my insurance. This makes my base bill $42. After my discount of 25% and -$10 for dropped calls, woooooo hoooooo!!! less than $25 for cell phone service?!?

So yes, you can keep your discounts!!!

AAANNDDD, not only that, but I just called to add the picture pack and asked about my GF's account, about switching it over to mine and changing her to SERO. Her contract is up in June, and the lady said if I wait until then, she will put a note on my account to let my GF get WHATEVER PHONE SHE WANTS FOR FREE, and apply a 10% Loyalty Discount to our whole bill!!!!

So, I figure after our two $30 SERO plans and two $5 pic packs, plus two $7 insurances, after discounts I will be paying about $35 for two lines!!!

Gotta love Sprint.

Got reply back from ecare regarding SERO plan and loyalty discounts:

In order to sign up and obtain information about the SERO plans, please visit:

www.sprint.com/sero

If you do sign up for a SERO plan, you will not be eligible for any additional discounts because the SERO plans are discounted plans. However, if you choose one of our regular priced service plans, you may be eligible for the loyalty discount, night and weekends starting at 7pm for free, 500 text messages free, and your rebates for the phone upgrades. :irked:

Greetings to everyone here...It's been a long time since I have posted anything here anyway, I called Buisness customer service today about an issue I had with my Treo 700p where my phone would turn off everytime I call cust. service at *2. I also explained to them that I just recently got my phone replaced in Feburary at a local sprint store due to some sound issues and thought I received a brand new phone. I told the rep. that I was very disappointed to find out that my phone was reconditioned and had a life timer of a 175,000 minutes and a life data of 438,000 kilobytes. Bear in mind that I recieved my original 700p last July.

The rep offered me a $150 credit towards the purchase of a new phone which I would use to get a new 755 when it comes out. I then decided to chance it and ask about switching my current plan to a Sero without changing my numbers and allowing me to keep all my discounts. After going through the process about sprint employee...blah blah blah...She said that she would take care of it for me.

This is what I am now getting...
Line 1 Sero 500 $30 with all the works
Line 2 Sero 1250 $49 with all the works
Unlimited text for free on both lines for 2yrs
6pm N&W for free on both lines for 2yrs
25% Buisness Discount on both lines
15% Loyalty Discount on both lines
5% Monthly Credit on both lines
Total payments will be about $44 plus tax..
My old plan was $72 plus tax..

Although I asked the rep. if she was sure that I will be able to keep all my discounts, she assured me it would not be a problem. She also got the approval from her supervisor to do it. She put a note on my account which I asked her to read back to me, stating that I will keep all my discounts. What are your thoughts on this guys and do you think sprint will remove any of these perks?

Do you think ecare has the ability to remove the discounts if they think I shouldn't have got in the first place with a Sero Plan. I am not sure if I should chance emailing them. I also have the rep login ID who help set it up for me

I here to say Sprint can and will do anything they want. For whatever reason (selling the product is the main one!) they'll tell you anything to get you to sign up for another two years. Then they may or may not audit out parts of the deal you have with them, that violate policy. You really need a copy of that deal FROM them, I've (and so MANY others in here) learned the hard way, don't take their word for anything! ;)

Obviously its your choice, good luck, I hope they keep their WORD to you. You didn't happen to record it, did you? :)

Ok Guys...Here is the update on my plan. I Checked online and noticed that my plans got switched to Sero. There were a few things that I notice was not there which were the free 6pm nights on the Fusic, free unlimted text on the Treo and road side assistance. I then called sprint directly (without hold time ) at 1-866-581-9266 and explain the problem and he put them back on. I then asked the rep to give me some details about my plans and all my discounts which are;

Line 1 Sero 1250 49.99/Month, Power vision & EVDO incl, , roaming incl., free 6pm nights, free unlimited text, TEP, Roadside Assist, 25% Employee Disc, 20% loyalty Disc

Line 2 Sero 500 30/Month, Power Vision & EVDO inc, roaming incl free 6pm nights, free unlimited text, TEP, 25% Employee Disc, 20% loyalty Disc

I had to also resign another 2 yr contract to get switched to Sero

The only thing I lost is the ultimate power vision which only have the extra sprint TV which I can get seperately if I really want. I also lost the $20 credits towards it. I think I really made out well considering I gain an additional 400 mins on both phones and saved about $30 extra per month. I'll wait for my first bill to come to validate the plan. They better not try anthing because I took wayne's advice and asked ecare to put it in writing just as a backup. Thanks wayne 1.

I was able to get switched to SERO back in December or so... and in the previous 5 months, any email to ecare inquiring about "perks" was always met with the standard "no, your plan is already discounted" blah blah
i even took a month or so break from emailing them... and that didn't help at all...

i've asked for a loyalty deiscoutn even though I've only been with sprint for barely 2 years...
the last time i asked, was probalby in January, which means i was with the for like 1 yr, 10 months, and they said NO to loyalty discount...

then yesterday, I decided to try again for the loyalty...

I sent them this through the contact us form on the website:
Question: Hi
I have been a loyal customer of sprint now for a couple years. I was wondering if ti's possible to get a loyalty discount... I'd be happy to sign another 2yr agreement if the discount is possible...
Please let me know
Thanks for your time.

Got the reply this monring:
Thank you for contacting Sprint. I will be glad to assist you regarding the loyalty discount.

XXXXX, I have reviewed the account and noticed that you are with us since May 03, 2005. As you are ready to renew the two years agreement, I have added 10% loyalty discount with the account, effective May 7, 2007. I have also renewed the two years agreement.

Please write back to me if anything else I can do for you. I will be here to assist you.

We value your loyalty and look forward to serving you for years to come. Thanks and have a nice day.

Off topic:
I am going to be dumb and ask the question. What is the difference between corporate discount and employee discount? I thought that corporate discount is if you work for say Citybank etc. basically corporation that has agreement with Sprint. But isn't employee discount is for employees of certain companies too? Geez I am so confused.

Same deal I think. For example you're a employee of UPS and get a 25% discount. You're getting a corporate discount because of a deal between UPS and Sprint. :)

I see absolutely no reason why SERO and loyalty are incompatible, so if a rep tells you that, that doesn't make any sense code-wise or logic-wise.

The reps do not know HOW you got SERO, be it by just asking or by an actual referral.

If you had been with Sprint for 3 years then got an employee referral for a cheaper plan, and received a sero account -- you've still been loyal for 3 years.

On the other hand, if you just merely asked for sero and got it with no referral, and you had previously been with Sprint for 3 years or 1 year or whatever, again, you've still been loyal for whatever that period of time is.

I'll eventually shoot them a couple of emails regarding this.

Hey everyone, kinda new here at Sprint users. I've been watching the SERO forums at fatwallet.com.

Quick question for you guys with the corporate discount: Exactly what information did CS ask you when you got the corporate discount?

I ask because I'm a consultant at a large insurance firm and I didn't want to give my manager's email or phone number?

Did they ask you for your manager's phone number? Email address? I've got a work email and phone, would that be enough?

Thanks! :)

Why wouldn't you be willing to give up your managers email address if you could recieve up to 23% off?

I'm a consultant at the insurance company. So I'm not considered a full-time at this company.

I work for a medium-sized consulting company who don't provide corporate discounts unforutnately.

As a consultant at this insurance company, I am not entitled to the priveleges that full-time employees have such as healthcare etc.

So, that's why I am reluctant in giving my manager's email address to Sprint to get the corporate discount.

But exactly, what information does CS ask you for when you ask for a corporate discount? I've got an email address and phone number from this large insurance company.

Why wouldn't you be willing to give up your managers email address if you could recieve up to 23% off?

Can someone who has successfully used e-care to get the corporate discount please post their request?

Or has everyone done it by dialing a number (and if so, which number worked best)?

A number (or e-care note) that got an immediate enrollment in the discount would be impressive since I keep getting 60 day messages that never seem to end up happening.

How long did it take you guys to get your employee discount? I put in a request, and the rep told me that it takes 60 days for it to get approved? 60 days meaning, I may or may not get the employee discount. Has that happen to any of you?

It used to happen within the next billing cycling but with some problems/abuse of the discount system, I think Sprint is trying to crack down and do some heavy checks before dishing out these discounts- hence the long wait...

I just got a response less than 5 min. ago. My goal was to get them to commit to saying that the unlimited text was good forever, to get it in writing, but I was at a sprint store today and saw that unlimited text was good forever with my own eyes, which is almost as good. The business discount was only a second priority, but I'm happy they did it, (first attempt too)

Maybe I'm over thinking it, but my goal was two fold. By distracting them with another question, and not asking for it directly, I was much more likely to avoid getting a note in my account saying I was begging for a discount, so future attempts would be more likely.

Dear Tel0004,

Thank you for contacting Sprint. I will be happy to assist you regarding plan details and discount.

Plan details:
=========

Yes, the current plan activated on the account is $30.00 500 minutes SERO plan. Also, unlimited text messaging option is added to the account for free.

Discount:
=======

We offer 15% discount to the employees of Lowes. I would be happy to add the company discount on your account.

To add your company's Nationwide Volume Program discount, we require the following information:

- Your immediate supervisor's name and phone number
- Your complete employment address

In order to receive this discount, I may have to change your current bill cycle so it matches your company's bill cycle. If your bill cycle changes, your current account will be finalized and a new account will be established. The discount will appear on the second page of your invoice and will read as 'Nationwide Volume Base Discount.' It will appear on the second bill after the discount is established.

I look forward to adding the discount to your account, once I receive this information.

Thank you for contacting us, and we look forward to serving you.

Question: Hi. I just recently changed my plan, and I wanted to confirm that I was changed to the correct plan. I should be on the 500 min. SERO plan, and it should have unlimited text included forever due to a promotion sprint is running. Could you please confirm this is accurate. I was also notified today that I am eligible for a discount on my phone bill for working at Lowes. Could you please inform me how much it is and how I get it added. Thank you.

EDIT- I gave them the info, and they instantly (within 5 min) replied back and said it was added, and my store is closed so there is no way they checked. Not that I'm suggesting you claim to work somewhere else. They also said it was effictive as of today.

So now my bill has 3 days on it with 500 text messages, 2 days with unlimited and no discoutnt, and 25 or so days with an employee discount. Its prorated twice in the same billing period. I'm asking for trouble when this bill arrives.
