Please post your attempts at getting free options on SERO here. As the plan is already heavily discounted, dont expect sprint to give away much!
Requests for discounts on the plan, or tips on how to get SERO each have their own threads. Please post in the appropriate thread :)

Well a few tips, be specific on what you're needing but don't specify a certain discount (as the reps sometimes turn ya off if you do, hit or miss there).
I have managed to get my 15% loyalty after having my lines switched over to sero (been with sprint since 2002 however). Also got unlim sms on one line for $8/month - however a rep more recently told me they had a meeting in which they were told not to give such on sero plans anymore (guessing some users abused such quite often, or their reps gave it out too freely).

well, i have sero with free nights at 7..i got this while on the phone with a rep who was switching me from a regular plan to the sero plan..i told her that i was offered free nights at 7 for renewing my contract (i had the e-care email that said so) and she applied it no questions asked..
i also have free 500 sms...i got this one through e-care..i simply explained them that i was paying for 100, and i needed more sms..i also hinted at the fact that i had just renewed (thus in my 30 day window still) and that verizon was offering free in-sms and that most of my friends were on verizon..
so, they added it...no hassles..im not gonna ask for more either..i know others have huge discounts and other freebies, but im extremely satisfied with what sprint has given me :)

I recently received free nights at 6pm and free unlimited texting. At first, it was hard to have those 2 options added, so I settled for free 500 text messages. The way they gave it to me free was by giving me a reoccuring $8 SMS credit. After a month, I decided to switch to unlimited SMS and surprisingly, the $8 SMS credit was still reoccuring, so I was paying only $7. About 10 months into my contract, I attempted to get Free nights at 6pm, and the ecare rep said he can add Free nights at 6pm and unlimited texting for $8 if I was willing to renew my contract. Since I had no intention of going to any other plan/carrier, I thought that I might as well renew my contract. Surprisingly, I was STILL getting the reoccuring $8 SMS credit, so technically, my unlimited texting is FREE :headbang2
So if you have bad luck in getting free options through ecare, I suggest just settle for what you got now and pay your bills on time and in the future, ecare will be more willingly to add free options.

6PM nights (asked nicely)
FIMF (new number. said I was getting prank calls)
Unlimited free texting (much tougher. Be prepared to do some battle)
-20% job discount (just get lucky with a rep that doesnt know what they're doing, and you slip throughthe cracks)

idk if this technically falls into the category of "free options" but i couldn't find a thread that listed promo mailers for people with SERO plans.
in the mail the other day i got a plain but cute greeting card from sprint. "just taking a moment to let you know that we appreciate your business." that was awfully nice of them. =^.^=
then today i got another mailer from them but this one was for "$100 off your Sprint PCS service". all i would need to do is sign a new two year agreement.
weird thing is. i just got my plan switched over to a new SERO 500 plan just a few weeks ago. i thought that any major plan switch automatically resigns you into a two year contract. hmm?
however, when i check my account details in the "change your plan" section on the website it says that my agreement expires on 2/28/2007. (i know i was out of contract when i switched so idk what's going on.)
is it possible that someone goofed? or maybe the expiration date is just not updated on the website? is there another way to find out when my agreement expires?
should i call for the $100 offer? worst they could do is say "no" right?
i just got a sweet deal through e-care when i switched my plan to SERO cause i played dumb n said i thought it came with free unlimited text like my old Free & Clear plan did. the replies went back n forth a few times. (i was always nice!) the end result was $8/month for unlimited text plus a one time service credit in the amount of $192 covering the cost of two years for the text messaging.
that's the really weird part. (least to me) cause the email said that the credit was for my two year agreement. again, on the website it says my agreement expires 2/28/2007.
thanx to anyone who replies! =^.^=

There is a chance the website is wrong. Many of us noticed discrepancies in the website. Send an email to ecare to request the information. It will be more accurate. :tu:

Woo hoo! I asked e-care for 500 free texts per month so my wife and I would not interrupt each other at work (especially since I am unavailable by phone most of the day) and was told that the 500 free texts offer is no longer available, but I would get 300 free texts for $5.00 per month plus a $5.00 recurring monthly credit.
If you don't ask, they can't say yes.

FIMF -- said i was getting too many telemarketing calls (true)
500 free SMS -- told them i was having bad reception and service and needed a way to get the 'word' out in emergencies since im in the medical field
24% hospital discount -- was told the first time that corp employee discount does not apply on sero, however, i just emailed ecare again in a few days and the next ecare rep added it on for me w/o even asking for proof!

Cool. I've been holding off trying to switch to SERO b/c I was afraid I'd loose my discounts. After doing the math, the "pure SERO plan" for two lines would equal my current plan with discounts- so I've got nothing to loose and a lot to gain if I email ecare...

SERO 1,200
Free Incoming First Minute
6PM Nights
Sprint to Home
500 Text Message
25% monthly discount
Working on:
20% corporate discount
I also got similar discounts and freebies for my wife who is on the SERO 500 plan.
The key:
Start off with the $50 plan during the first 30 days. I did this for my wife and brother. They are more likely to give you something if you plan to cancel a $50 plan. Also, it will be easier if you have excellent credit. If they know that you can pay your bills, they will do more to keep you.
After you get what you want........you could then drop down to the SERO 500 plan.
I have also told them, after the 30 day trial, that my employer is willing to pay my ETF......so by using that line and *sounding* certain that you are canceling, you will get something.

Just emailed ecare about 30 min ago.
said I was getting a lot of telemarketer calls, and inquired about FIMF.
I was very impressed with the fast response, usually it took over a day, this was 30 min:
Thank you for contacting Sprint together with Nextel. I will be happy to assist you regarding the FIMF.
I apologize that we have stopped offering FIMF. Therefore, we cannot add it to your account.
I would like to inform that I have stopped all the promotional Sprint calls. However, this will come into effect after provisioning time of 90 days.
Thank you for contacting us. Have a great day.
is that true, they have stopped offering it? I'm assuming no, and it's just a line they feed me...
oh well... maybe I'll try again in the future...

- SERO 500 for $30 plan w/ $4 "Handset Replacement" Insurance.
- Palm Treo 700wx for $249.99 ($250 service deposit).
- Replaced Treo 700wx with PPC-6700 in a local store (bigger screen & keyboard & faster processor) for $41.37 extra.
- In-store rep failed to transfer all data to new phone or give me the $100 MIR form.
- Called Care, got a $100 service credit (amount of the MIR).
- After several calls over the lost data, I managed to get 6pm N/W, FIMF, 500 TXTs, and a 15% discount. Sprint also ate the current bill of $40.44 and left me with a credit of $6.66.
I figure if I've gone this far, I may call them back in a couple days and press them for unlimited texts and the 25% discount. After that, I don't think they have anything else left to give. Or am I mistaken? ;-)
I've heard that it is possible to get free unlimited SMS (though very hard to do), a 25% loyalty discount (vs 15%), a corp discount of up to 28% (How do I do that? What company do tell them that I work for?), and a recurring $5 downloads credit. Any advice on obtaining these?
They might be losing money on me, but they will get a lot of word of mouth referrals from me!
Thanks!

Alright so i just wanted to know..
I just got one of my friends signed up for SERO and told him 500 texts should come fairly easily.
However, i've written 2 emails and made 1 phone call..
and each has been answered with "hell no" we offer 300 or 1000... they have also turned down even giving him 500 if he pays the $8 or whatever
Is free 500 texts still in the system? Is $8 unlimited text still in the system?

I would call up and see if the rep can take the code from your plan and look it up to put on your friend's plan.
If they think the request is odd, tell them ecare told you to call in and do it because they couldn't find a code.

I have tried 3 times asking for $8 texts or 500 free and none of the agents have been able to find any codes or anything for this. They said if I could get a phone number of someone with that on their account they would be able to see what to use but I obviously don't have this.

SO this last email i've sent has resulted in a rep stating
"let me be clear: its no longer an option for me or my coworkers to add 500 texts in any fashion to your plan. I apologize"
Is this true?
And if 500 texts has bitten the dust, the 300 that they are dishing out to college students for 12 months... what about that? That certainly is in there.
Who knows?

Jeff, you already have unlimited text for $8 a month. Why are you trying to go down to 500 text? I guess it could be none of my business, but I thought I would ask.
I can't say if the 500 text code still exists, but Sprint does phase out codes after a certain period of time has passed. The E-Care rep may be telling the truth when he/she said that they no longer have the ability to give that option.
Also, a sprint employee mentioned in another thread that Sprint is cracking down lately on the freebies.

Been with sprint for 4 years. Got both SERO plans in january 06.
FIMF and 7pm nights free from day one. At that time nights were 9pm.
Also kept my 24% Daimler discount.
The other day I asked eCare if they could change my nights to 6pm, and keep it free. They said yes IF I sign a new contract, so I said no problem, IF you can give 300 text per line for free. No problems whatsoever. Why not sign a new contract? There's no way I could do better anywhere else.
So, I have
FIMF
300 texts
6pm nights
24% discount.
On both lines.
I only deal with E-care. I've never been rude, never asked for any credits, etc. I've always paid my bill on-time, and have good credit. I've never threatened to cancel or dealt with retentions. My first 3 years with sprint I had VERY high mrc's. Every time I've ever asked for anything, including SERO, I've got it on the first try.
You are a pretty good example of what can happen if you're nice....

Thanks.
In reality, I don't understand people that aren't nice when calling for something. No matter who they are calling. The person on the other end has no real good reason to hook you up with anything, so why act like a jackass? When they tell me they have to put me on hold, I tell them to take their time, I have all day.
You're asking for something, so be polite and patient. My folks taught me that.
Couldn't have stated it any better myself. Always and I mean always treat these folks like your best friends! ;)

I e-mailed eCare and was offered the following features in addition to standard $30 SERO features (all extras apply to 2 lines):
* N/W @ 6
* 15 % discount
* 500 free txt msgs/month
* standard $150/phone new phone credit
I was polite and just asked for those specific things. I think it's smarter to e-mail because you then have a response in writing that you can rely upon later. I haven't accepted the offer yet because I'm in the middle of a payment cycle and my wife has not decided which phone she wants. I want an LG LX 550 (Fusic), but wanted to pay less than the $79 Sprint is currently charging. Any specific advice about paying less for the phone or getting a better plan deal (without being too greedy?)?

IMO that is a excellent offer, accept it before they change their minds. Also be careful that they don't try to bait and switch you once you accept the offer. ;)

It's in writing, so I'm not too worried about a bait and switch. Any ideas to lower the phone cost?

Last year Sprint offered me a Samsung A900 for $150. off and I reminded them of my many years of loyalty and I got the phone for free. That was from retentions.
It doesn't hurt to ask for better than a standard deal, I would. :)

I signed up for the $50 SERO plan sometime during the last week of March and got the Treo 700P for $250 - $150 MIR - $100 MIR = $0. Upon getting the phone, I ran into some trouble getting my number ported over correctly, so I e-mailed e-care about my troubles and while helping me fix the problem, they voluntarly gave me a $50 service credit for the first month for all of my troubles. A week later, I e-mailed to ask for a few much needed text messages and was given unlimited texts no problem. A week past, e-mailed asking if I would be able to switch from my $50 plan which was high for me to the $30 plan, they gave me a 15% monthly discount on my $50 plan to keep me from switching. Been with them for about 3 weeks and here is what my plan looks like now:
Treo 700P - Free after rebates
1250 AT Mins, N/W @ 7PM, Unlimited Power Vision
All of the goodies of the latest SERO plan
Unlimited Text Messages
15% Monthly Discount
$42.50 per month :tu:
I couldn't be happier with my phone, service and especially the price. With the way Sprint has treated me, I will stay a customer for a long time... as long as they give me a nice new phone or credit for one once my contract is up.

Hey guys, when you get your SERO plan, did you get back the Loyalty discounts that was on the original account/accounts when you sign up for SERO OR
Did you have to wait next time to get back those previous loyalty discounts.
I have been holding out on SERO plan (I do have email of a friend from Sprint) because it will cost me about the same as my current plan with discounts but without Power Vision and a few good stuff.

It's all pretty standard. A lot of it has to do with kissing up to Sprint, telling them how much you love their service, and how you've been such a loyal customer.

I'm pretty suprised at how easy Sprint has been about this. I got SERO 500, got my 15% National Guard discount, and just got this email after complaining that my Q didn't get picture mail...not free unlimited texting, but $7.00 off a month ain't bad:
"Thank you for contacting Sprint. I will be happy to assist you regarding the unlimited text messaging option.
I apologize for the delay in response to your concern.
I noticed that the account is already on a special SERO plan, which we do not offer to regular customers. SERO Plans include higher number of Anytime Minutes at a lower monthly charge. However, considering yours as a special case, I have added $8.00 unlimited text messaging option to your account effective April 23, 2007.
Further, I have removed $15.00 unlimited text messaging option effective April 23, 2007. From now onwards, account will be billed $8.00 for unlimited text messaging option.
Thank you for contacting Sprint. Please feel free to write back if you have any other questions. Have a great day!"

I'm wondering how this SERO loyalty thing works. I've had Sprint since 2003 and plan on switching to a SERO plan. I've been told the only way to do this is to port my number to another provider, then back to Sprint as a SERO plan. Wouldn't that mean I'd lose any reason to get a loyalty discount?

Here's what I got:
* 2 SERO $30 plans (with all standard goodies)
* NW @ 6 (Free)
* 500 txt/month (Free)
* 15% discount
* 2 free Sanyo 8400 phones
* $70 service credit
Here's how I got it:
e-mailed eCare from my account on the internet:
"Question: Hi! My contract has expired and I am shopping around for
a plan that better suits my current needs. I am very interested in
the SERO plans, but would have to split my current joint plan with
my wife into 2 SERO plans. Is there any way to change the SERO
plan to fit my needs? Specifically, I would be happy to sign a new
contract with Sprint if I could get the following additional
features tacked on to 2 $30 SERO plans:
* My current 15% military discount
* 500 txt messages/month
* Nights starting at 6pm
Thanks for your consideration and have a great weekend!"
eCare replied:
"Thank you for contacting Sprint together with Nextel. I will be
happy to assist you regarding the service plan.
Yes, I can definitely add the SERO plan on the account for $30.00
per month.
I will also add the 15% Military discount, 500 free text messaging
plan for free and 6PM Night and Weekend Minutes option for free on
your both the phone lines.
To change the plan you need to renew your two year agreement with
us. The plan change will be effective from the start of the next
bill cycle to avoid the partial month charges.
Please write back to me with the confirmation to change the service
plan on your account. I will be glad to process your request.
We value your loyalty and look forward to serving you for years to
come. Thank you."

With some exceptions, noted in threads such as this one.......there are no discounts allowed with Sero. Of course just because there are rules, doesn't mean you shouldn't try for a discount. I tried for a discount and Sprint wouldn't give me one. :p

1)So basically (correct me if I am wrong), if you contract is coming up for renewal and your phone is eligible for upgrade: Call regular retentions first to get the new phones (better discount???) and hence sign a new 2 year contract on a new plan.
2)Then call Employee Services to request for SERO. Will they still switch your account over to SERO plan(and sign a new 2 year SERO contract) seeing that your contract is so new, probably less than 30 days. I guess what I am asking is: "Why should they switch you over to SERO when Sprint has already locked you into a 2 year contract from #1?"
3)After you get the SERO plan , then you call the retention of Employee Services to ask for the free Options like 500 text messages and 6pm Free or even loyalty discounts?

Some customers obtain the discounts before signing up for new plans such as Sero, since the reps will look and see you have Sero and turn you down on perks such as loyalty discounts, 6PM, etc. Of course if you do get the perks (work on retentions for these when you get your free? phone), the trick is to keep the rep giving you Sero, from taking the discounts, perks, etc. off your account.
I got lucky (unknow to me at the time) and the rep left the 680 reoccuring minutes on my account when I received Sero. Some of the interesting plans you see on this site were built over a period of years, sometimes with luck, loyalty, and sometimes with the right rep.
Doing business with Sprint is a interesting experience. :)

I signed up for Sprint service on February, 2007 through the sero website. I signed up for the $30 sero plan. I added unlimited text for $10 an insurance for my phone for $7. My total monthly bill is $47 plus taxes. under such a plan i would have never thought Sprint would give me another discount but e-care did just that.
I emailed e-care and this is what happened:

In this process, it is essential to provision your existing account with your company's account and to change your current bill cycle so as to match it with your company's bill cycle. If the current bill cycle is not compatible, then the account will be finalized and a new account will be established for you. The discount will appear on the second page of your invoice and will read as 'Nationwide Volume Base Discount." It will appear on the second bill after the discount is established.
I do hope that this information has been helpful to you.
Thank you for contacting Sprint. We value your continued loyalty as a customer and look forward to assisting you in the future. If you have any further questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us again. We are here for you. Have a fantastic day!

Dear XXXXXXX,
Thank you for writing back.
Your account has been provisioned for a discount for being an employee of United Parcel Service effective April 25, 2007.
In this process, it was essential to provision the account with your company's account and to change the bill cycle so it matches with your company's bill cycle.
Due to this reason, the bill cycle on your account has been changed. The previous bill cycle use to start on the 12th of every month and end on the 11th of next month.
Your new bill cycle starts on the 1st of every month and ends on the 30 of next month.

I just signed up for SERO, my phone will be arriving tomorrow. I want to add unlimited text messaging? I'm not going to even bother trying to get it for free, but how much can I expect to pay? $8? $10? $15?

"Dear Sprint,
I have been with Sprint for about 2 weeks now and I absolutely love the service I have. I get reception everywhere and quality compared to Cingular is amazing. I also love my new phone (samsung m610). I was just wondering if there is anyway I could get nights and weekends starting at 6pm added to my plan for free? I am asking because when i had Cingular the rollover minutes saved me from extremely large cellphone bills and I'm worried that I may go over my minutes without this. I do plan on staying with Sprint for a long time because of the great phone service and great customer service.
Thank you,

I have reviewed your account and see that you are currently on our greatly discounted SERO rate plan for $30 per month. At this time you are not eligible to receive any further discounted or free services. To compare the costs of your current SERO plan and the regular prices for the included services, please review below:

-Power Vision package with Picture Mail option included - $15/month
-Activation fee credit - $36
-A large discount on a new Power Vision capable phone

i don't know if this has already been posted here but those of you paying for sms on the sero plan don't need to sero use to come with free unlimited sms but it no longer does. well i am an insider (supervisor on the customer care side) most of our accounts are still in an old data base called premier they have not been converted to the new database ensamble yet. well premiere links to an older data base called p2k the code for free unlimited sms is still in p2k you need to call in and have it added to your acct. call in ask the rep if they have p2k access if they do thell them to ad this code to your acct. #c sero sms unl $0 this code will give you unlimited sms text messaging for free i have it on my acct

Hmm, that must've been a long, lone time ago. I converted from a F&F plan to a SERO plan back in March 2006. At that time, nights started at 9 PM (instead of 7 PM), and Unlimited Text Messaging was not a feature of the plan.
Yes, we all know that the code for Unlimited Text Messaging still exists, but that's not the issue for most people attempting to have it added to their plan. Most reps simply do not want to give it away. Simply calling and saying "add #c sero sms unl $0 to my account" doesn't make a whole lot of sense either.

true the unl sms code will eventually be retired from the system but as of right now it is still active in p2k untill it is removed from p2k if you have a primere account you can still get it added and once you have it on your account sprint will not remove it. when they finally do retire it you will still be allowed to keep it untill you change your plan

Well from what I know where they have EVDO rev A the speeds are about 3 MB max download, which is maybe a little slower than cable but faster than dsl. You can get a USB module that you just plug into the port on your desktop and it would work that way, and then just unplug it and put it your laptop on the road.

I'm not sure if this is the right thread to post my question. Here goes, I'll make it short:
I ordered the Treo 700wx 10 days back with a SERO plan. I called CS and had the Treo 755p exchanged for the Treo 700wx.
When I received my new phone (755p), I did not get a packing slip or a purchase receipt.
I called CS to ask them for one but they're saying they don't have one since I did an exchange. I need the receipt so I can send in rebates.
Any suggestions or advice? Thanks in advance. :)

i talked to sprint today about the unlimited texting and that went fine, but then the rep told me he noticed that i had a company discount pending on my account and that i cant have that and SERO becasue all the reps just got an email that said to take off the corporate discounts for SERO members becasue they cant have both. he said that they are going to go through accounts and change them. has anyone else heard abou this?
I had a similar thing happen to me today. Called CS to get a 10% discount since I'm a Credit Union member. She said that you can't apply it because my SERO plan is already heavily-discounted.
Honestly, I think we're all being a little greedy about having tons of features/discounts on our account and paying as little as we can. But hey, it saves money so why not right?
Calculate the amount of money you've given Sprint over the last few years and I think some of us at least deserve it (not me because I'm a new customer).
Uh...sorry for the lecture... :irked:

I confirmed that I still kept my employee discount but the umlimited text never showed up.
I guess that this point, I'll be happy with what I got and keep quiet... ;)

Maybe try to go to a Sprint store and see if they can help you out.

How do you explain me and at least one other person in this forum getting the $29.99 plan then? Also, how do you explain this (http://a676.g.akamaitech.net/f/676/773/60m/images.delivery.net/cm50content/1529/sero_redesign/SERO_details.pdf)?

Sero website does not currently have online ordering it directs everyone to call 888)882-4030
which is what i did .
Employee accounts told me they could not place the order, I suspect they only have the ability to adjust current accounts like they did for you.
I got the usb data card for $99.99 +tax ( there is a $50 rebate on it & I'm going to send out kelloggs too )

I called to get the free unlimited text messages. My account shows: UNLIMITED SMS MESSAGES $8.00
It shows up under "Your Current Plan", "Click to learn more, modify or remove services."
Is this right or should free text messages show up under

It shouldn't show up in your Plan Details. It should only be noticeable under the Current Usage page, unless they are crediting you $8 every month to offset the charge. You should call and find out.

They already were giving me 500 text messages for free, which is what I thought the $8 credit was for, until I realized that is said "unlimited text." Will call to see.
The PDF file says that ReadyLink is included in Sero. Anyone confirm this? I'f so I'll get a readylink phone. Anyone know the code for it?

yeah the PDF does say that.
But since the PDF isn't linked on the sprint sero site, its not easy to convince them that they have to give you anything listed on there.

Thanks! I'll be on the lookout if it ever becomes available and is listed on the website.

So i've been with sprint for about a year now, i have the 450 minute plan and 300 sms for 5.00. Nights start at 7. That's been my plan since i started up with sprint. I do remember sending in the 50 dollar rebate for my fusic phone the day after i got the phone. It's been about a year now and i still haven't gotten the rebate. Rather lousy. I've paid all my bills on time, never called customer service to complain, and sprint is kickin butt.
But i started college last week, and needless to say, it's kinda pricey. Do you think i could sucker them in to giving me a discount? Like saying something like "i'm gonna have to cancel my plan. 300 text messages isn't covering it. i need unlimited text, but i cant afford to pay 15 dollars a month with college costs."
something like that. i mean, i really did start classes last tuesday and yeah, it's expensive. and i really would appreciate some discounts. can anyone possibly draft something up for me? maybe something to send in to ecare that would possibly allow them to discount me?

I upgraded to the SERO plan that includes unlimited txting free (I previously had it free, $8 then a $8 credit). 2 days later I called and told them I removed the free txting, and I extended my contract. Can you include RL for free? And they did :headbang2

I've read around that in order to get SERO that you need to either add a new line, or just be starting a new plan. Just wondering if that's true. I can't get SERO if i'm an existing customer...correct?
