This thread to be used to discuss your attempts at getting the SERO plan, and how you were able to do it (if succcessful)
Do not post requests for info on possible discounts or freebies for SERO here, a thread on each topic also exists :)

Ok that makes all three...
And yes Im on the plan, I finally got it after many attempts by calling the Idaho call center (I think thats where it was). The lady was clueless and put me on with no email needed.

Any help would be greatly appreciated - I've tried numerous times and came away with nothing. They keep telling me that I absolutely need to sign up online and need to cancel my current account and pay the ETF; only then would I be able to be eligible to get SERO.
If anyone could even walk me through it, I'd be indebted to you forever >.<

The only way I was able to get while still in contract was to call up and ask for a supervisor in retentions then tell them I was going to cancel.
jumonjii

I wouldn't bother with that. I've seen several posts on here that basically say the supervisior could care less.
Plus, you shouldn't say you are going to cancel unless you really are.

I would not recommend escalating to a supervisor to get SERO. If they call your bluff then you are screwed unless you are really prepared to cancel.

Wow...That was risky. If I had been the supervisor, I think I would have asked if you would like to terminate your account immediately or at the end of your billing cycle. It would certainly call your bluff. Either way Sprint wins.
From what I have heard, most have better luck with customer service reps than with supervisors. Sometimes a rep is willing to go the extra mile and bend a rule along the way to satisfy the customer while many supervisors operate strictly by the rules.

Quite simply put,SERO means Sprint Employee Referral Offer. It is designed to be offered to potential customers by Sprint reps who are willing to allow their names and e-mails to be used as a referral tool. If it were meant to be used a general consumer plan and make Sprint and their shareholders a profit, it would be marketed on a mass basis!!!!!

Yes we know.
Yet, Sprint continues to offer it to the general public through promotional offers.

Haven't read anywhere of anyone attempting this so i registered just to post and ask. I got a letter the other day from the consultant who helped me set up my plan. Inside was their business card and on the very bottom her sprint e-mail address. Does this mean an easy way to get SERO by using it at www.sprint.com/sero also what would be an easy option to maybe switch plans or something if i want SERO i just activated my plan last month.

It is not recommended to use a Sprint employee's email address for SERO without their consent. If you want SERO, use the holiday@sprint.com email address. This is good for the month of February.
If your plan was activated within the last 30 days, you could still cancel without penalty and sign up again for SERO, if I'm not mistaken. If you are past 30 days, then you will have to try your luck at calling Sprint to try and find a rep who will switch you over, or eat the ETF.
Good luck!

So I just used the inphonic website to order 2 phones on 2 accounts. I gave them my info to port over both numbers from verizon. So when I get an email saying the phones will be shipping, it shows that they assigned numbers that are not what we were porting over. Is this normal and I port once I get the phones, or did they screw up? Any help or what I may need to do to fix this would be appreciated

That's what they did with mine, too. When you get the phones you have to call customer support (1-800-SPRINT1 or 1-800-777-4681) and tell them you want to port a number over to Sprint. I was given a toll free number to call, and the person who answered walked me through the process to program the ported number into the phone. The number then ported over within a few hours.

I was just on the SERO website and noticed the paragraph under the email address field.
The paragraph says:
This is an exclusive offer only through the sprint.com/sero Web site - not available in retail stores or through any other sales channels. Offer available to new Sprint customers, or to existing Sprint customers who are adding an additional line of service.
The existing customer part was not associated with the December SERO offer, was it? So for existing customers, how do we go about adding an additional line of service through the SERO website?

Me guesses they need to generate more added lines again, hence the allowing "existing" customers to have a SERO plan on their account.
Hopefully this quarter will start to turn the quarter for sprint. I see they are going the gray razr for $25 and the red one for $30. on sprint.com

This call was to Employee Accounts:
"Thank you for calling Sprint together with Nextel, how can I help you?"
"I'm having problems with the sero plan."
"You have to sign up online for sero."
"Yes, I know, Inphonics won't accept the order, they said to call Sprint."
"Why won't they accept the order?"
"They said I don't have a valid email address."
"You need the email address of a sprint employee."
"Actually you don't. There is a promotion for it. Do you have internet access?"
"Yes I do, let me just go to the sero site....do you see that little box that says employee email address?"
"I do, but do you see that big box that says "We're spreading the love."
"Yes I do."
"The special access email address is holiday@sprint.com. Punch it in yourself."
"Okay.......huh...that's new. When did they start that?"
"Dunno, but it's only valid until the 28th. I did all this and Inphonics rejected the order because of the email address. Again, they said to call Sprint. They also said I'd have to cancel my service, but on the sero page it says the offer is available to existing Sprint customers who are activating a new line of service as well."
"Yes, I see that too....huh....well there seems to be some confusion between Sprint and Inphonics apparently."
"Wouldn't be the first time."
"That's true! LOL, I guess you've dealt with them before?"
"Oh yeah... phone orders. Total nightmare."
"I've heard...well let's see...you are SUPPOSE to sign up online, but I can take care of you right now since Inphonics doesn't know about the special offer."
"Cool."
"Did you want to activate a second line?"
"Not if I don't have to, LOL!... Seriously though, If I must, then I will. I don't want to lose my number and all that, I just really like the plan... Maybe I'll switch my main line to the basic plan afterward."
"Tell ya what....if you activate a second line, I'll put both plans on sero, waive the activation fee, and give you a great deal on a phone too. Deal?"
"You can do that?!?!? I thought only certain departments could do that.!"
"Employee Acccounts has access to all that, we deal with Sprint Employees. Plans, phones, etc."
"Cool! Let's do it."
"Okay then, I need your PCS Number....."

No such luck for me with Employee Accounts. The rep went to the website and verified the promotional email address. It took some time for the rep to gather some information. I had never been that far in the process so I was cautiously optimistic.
The rep came back and we bantered for a bit. Eventually I mentioned that I was ready to add a new line but was wondering if it was possible for my line to be switched to SERO and I would put the second line on a normal plan.
The rep wouldn't budge and reiterated that it's only good for the new account. So I politely ended the call.

I know that everyone is tired of hearing, "keep trying," but I believe that this method can work. The first time that I attempted *2, the rep seemingly had no clue what sero was. I did mention to her sprint.com/sero and she gladly went to the site to check it out. At first she was having trouble looking up the codes for the sero plans, but gladly enough she found it. At that time, I did not have the phone that I wanted, so the rep. left the notes on the account so that I could call back and easily get everything switched to the sero plan.
After purchasing a treo from eBay I called customer service to activate the phone and switch to the sero plan. I told the rep that I should have notes on my account for the specific sero plan that I wanted. She told me that I did have the notes on my account, however she was unable to do this b/c and employee needed to initiate the referral. After trying to level with the rep for about 30 she still would not budge. I politely asked to speak to retentions and that is all that I said.
As soon as I was connected with retentions, the rep answered the phone and asked what she could help me with. I politely asked her if she could help me to get the plan that I wanted. She said that she would gladly do anything in her power to keep me as a sprint customer.
Now my two lines are swithced over to the 500 SERO plan with other perks.
I am sorry that this was so long-winded, but I just wanted to give and example of what can happen, especially if you are patient and polite.

Well, I'm a long time lurker here and I've been following the SERO talk for a while. I tried a week or two ago about 3-4 times to get switched to a SERO plan and couldn't get it done. I gave up and added power vision and ordered a Motorola Q. I just thought I'd have to stick with my F&C plan + vision. I saw this thread tonight and decided to give it another try.
On my first call I received a very friendly and wonderfully helpful female representative from the Idaho call center. She at first didn't know about the SERO plans but gladly looked them up when I referenced www.sprint.com/sero. She said she could switch me to this plan but it would require re-signing a 2 year agreement (I re-signed a week ago when I got my Q!), so I gladly agreed. She also assured me that the ETF would be waived. She never at any point said I would have to cancel my number or end my account, she only said that she could switch my current plan. She even noted that I had the $34.99 F&C and the $20 PV and that I would now be paying $30 for 500 minutes and free PV. She was very friendly the whole time and I was very friendly and accomodating (yes ma'am, take your time, thank you so much, etc.). She ended the call with thanking me for being a Sprint customer. I assured her that thanks to SERO, I would be a Sprint customer for a very, very long time. After that she even mentioned that I qualified for a free extra line, and that she would add a note that I should get a free phone and line in the future whenever I call back. She even thanked me for introducing her to SERO and the "new" plans available that she didn't know about. So in my mind, it's a win-win. Sprint will retain me as a customer for a very long time and I got a very good plan with all of the minutes and data I will ever need. Bottom line, keep trying, but don't be a pain. Be polite, be friendly and help out the rep. Don't be afraid to point them in the right direction, but don't demand a SERO plan. Good Luck!

I was reading this thread this morning, looked on the web site www.sprint.com/SERO, picked up my cell phone and called *2. First attempt I reached the overseas call center and had trouble with my SERO attempt and was eventually disconnected. My second attempt sent me through several customer service reps at what I believe was the Lake City, FL call center. The last rep was not familiar with the option but did some research for about 20 minutes and finally hooked me up with the 1250 minutes for $49.00( includes vision pack, no roaming, etc.)

None of the CSR's new anything about the SERO plan, so I just acted like I new what I was talking about. I just kept saying it was a promotion for the month of Feb and that another CSR said I was eligible but before I could get changed over we were disconnected. I was checking a couple of other forums that have active SERO threads and each of them have a section dealing with rebates. They say SERO plans are exempt from the $34.99 requirement but they don't say why.
Remember, most rebate forms say rebate is available for plans $34.99 and up. This does NOT apply to SERO plans. You are good to go on any of the rebates with any SERO plan!!

I have a SERO plan and I have done some analog roaming, and it is included in the SERO plan. I have not seen any additional charges for it on my bill at any time. I have a Sanyo MM-8300, which is a dual mode/ tri-band phone (digital and analog phone). As for the current offerings on the SERO site, the Sanyo Katana and the Sanyo 2400 are both capable of analog roaming.

I guess if you have a good reason they will let you have it.
Just one question tho.

Congrats! :)
Unlimited web access will not use up your anytime minutes. The Vision/Power Vision part of SERO will cover all of your web and data.

I don't think this is posted anywhere else, and I didn't know where to put it, but for anyone looking to sign up for a new SERO line, they have the Q and M1 available on the website now. They don't even have pictures up for them yet, but the SERO site shows them both available.
As for me, I'm about to call in to try to get my wife a pink Katana on a new sero line. Since they don't have it on the website, I'm going to try Employee Accounts to open the new line, since I already have my own sero line. If that doesn't work, I think I'll try to get telesales to open me a new line with "the exact same plan I have on my other line".

Heres my situation.
I ordered a Q on saturday from the regular sprint site and it should arrive today. Obviously after learning that the Q is now available on the SERO site I want to get a SERO plan.
Being a new customer, I have 30 days to cancel my account and return the phone.
Do you think I could immediately cancel this account and set up a new account through SERO or would I be better off activating this new phone and calling in and asking to be switched to a sero plan?

Since you already have the phone, I would call *2 and try to get them to switch the plan. You may get a good rep who will switch plans for you (on your 9th try). If it doesnt work, then there is always the other route. I think you may have to wait a few months between canceling and resigning up again, but I'm not 100% positive. Ill let somebody else answer that.

Well the phone has been rescheduled for delivery until tomorrow which makes it 2 days later than sprint promised.
I wonder if since the phone isn't activated yet if I return it and cancel before it is activated if I could then sign up through SERO immediately?
I'm thinking if I cancel, my name would ne flagged and I can't get a new account. If anybody knows about this please let me know.

I want to change my plan to the sero 500 and add the pantech wireless broadband card on a new line. If i do this, will i be able to keep my current discounts and pass them over to both lines? The discounts are 15% military discount and $5 text messaging with $5 credit to make it $0. I also want to keep my mm7400 on the first line, obviously.

It ends February 28th. Since they have already done this public thing for Christmas, I wouldn't be surprised to see it again in July, or maybe even sooner, but you never know. Sero might be gone march 1st, or it may last several years. We just don't know.

Honestly, the "open access" offerings are to attract new lines of service at nearly any cost.........
Sprint needs a good showing and if it takes SERO to add a customer, they will give you SERO.
Once they hit a certain targeted gain, they will end the "open access" offer. If they have it by 2/28, it will end then............ if not it will likely be extended.
I believe holiday@sprint.com was the offical open access email address.

Since you are not changing plans, you are changing features of a plan, a new contract will not be required. You are dropping vision, and adding power vision for $0. Its no different then adding or removing text messaging (or any feature).

I don't think so. If you go to sprint.com/sero, you can choose a plan. Then on the next page it ask you what features you want. You can then choose $0 PV, along with text, and other stuff. So it was my understanding that they were the same plan, with different options. I don't work for sprint, so sprint may see it differently. Hopefully a sprint employee can answer this question.

I went through HELL to get my SERO 500 plan!!! >.<
I called *2 (pretty sure i got call center India) to get my plan switched and the representative didn’t know what I was talking about. I tried to explain it to her to no avail.
I then went to the Sprint website and while browsing I was contacted by a Live Chat representative. I asked her about SERO and she said that I had to order it through the website. I also asked her if I would be able to port my existing Sprint phone number to the new plan, she assured me that I could.
When I received my new phone in the mail I never even took it out of the box. I immediately called *2 to have them port my existing Sprint phone number over. That’s when I was told it couldn’t be done. I was then put in contact with retentions who helped me by canceling the new phone and plan, and switching my existing plan over to the plan that I wanted. Also added 10% loyalty discount and dropped the phone price down to $79.99. The only thing I had to do was send back the phone I had just received because it was pre programmed with the new number that I didn’t want. They sent out another phone the same day. I was told to wait until my billing cycle ended to activate the new phone.
When I received the new, new phone I did wait until my billing cycle was over to transfer my number. However, when I tried to do that the representative said that she wasn’t able to because the new phone was a Power Vision phone and that my plan only had regular Vision on it. She said that if I wanted to keep the new phone I would have to change my plan. I told her that I had already had my plan changed and that there shouldn’t be any problems in transferring the number and plan from my old phone to the new one. She had me on hold for over 45 minutes trying to figure out what was going on with my plan. Then she put me through to another department. The new representative said that she could help me. She did. I asked her to repeat my plan back to me, when she didn’t mention the nights and weekends starting at 7pm or picture mail I asked her to fix that as well. She did, and by the end of an hour and a half I thought all my problems were solved. She put my new plan into effect the same day so I didn’t have to wait on another new billing cycle. She also told me that although she put my new plan into effect I would have to wait 2-4 hours, from 7:30pm, for the service to be activated.
I did everything the representative told me to. The next day my phone was still not activated. I called again to activate my phone and this time I was told that the plan was already activated. Maybe the plan was but the phone was not. The representative asked if anyone had told me how to program my phone, I told her, “No”. That was my problem; no one ever told me that I had to, or how to program my new phone. >.<
Did all that, now my new phone and plan work just fine!
It may have been hell but it could have been worse! I could NOT have gotten SERO at all!
THANK YOU SPRINT! =^.^=

I think its allways been that way that the majority of minutes can not be used for roaming, they just dont enforce it unless you roam a lot for months on end.
As far as the activation fee, that is just legal junk their lawers signed off on, and they put it at the bottom of everything. Even so, an activation fee is well worth 2 years of SERO, and anybody on this forum at least would complain until E-care got rid of it anyway.

If I go to the Sprint store, get a 2 line family plan - pick the phones that I want (not shown on the Sero web site), can I then call Sprint Sero within the thirty days and switch to two Sero plans with no penalty?

I have heard of people being able to get SERO by going that route but normally it is harder to get your account switched over as a current customer. But I think those people were on single lines. I am not sure if it makes a difference if you are on a family plan.
The activation fees are waived if you sign up on the website.

It's very unlikely that you would be able to switch two lines off of a shared plan to two seperate SERO lines.
When I obtained my SERO I didn't want to port out a number from a current Sprint account, I had no problem getting new number. I guess that's why I didn't have a problem.

Well, jsut by dumb luck today I stumbled across this totally awesome forum and was instantly curious about SERO. So I tried the e-mail holiday@sprint.com. Bingo I was online and able to order the plan. Here is where things get crappy. Sprint has been my only cell phone provider since I joined the USMC 6+ yrs ago. My current family plan contract is up April 1.
- I have been very nice, respectful, and friendly to every rep I have talk to about porting my 2 current numbers over to my 2 new SERO phones.
- I have explained that due to my job switching cell #'s would be a huge inconvience.
- I have also asked them to let me out of my current contract without any ETF on March 1st. (ONLY A MONTH EARLY!!)
- My answer to both of those request have been "There is no way to do that for you Sir."
Ft. Worth, TX call center is by far the toughest bunch. They would not budge at all. I almost had it with a lady in Orlando, FL. I was for sure after I told her that I was from Tampa, FL (I really am) that she would do iit for me. After she put me on hold for about 10mins she came back with "if I could I would". I told her as I have told the other reps that I know that it can be done.
I will not stop until I get this thing done. I will call and call and call. I just ordered my 2 SERO phones today, and I tried to cancel them tonight becuase they would not switch them. I was told I had to wait for the order to process.
I personally think that it is pretty crappy of them to give you such a hard time and to play dumb. Especially when you have been with them exclusively for such a long time. So much for taking care of you customers. Reading some of the stuff that some of you have gotten on your plans for free or discounted....makes me want this that much more.
I will keep you all updated on my progress. Good luck to the rest of you who are trying to do the same thing as I am. And to all of you who are hooked up beyond all belief :bang: J/K good on ya. Thanks for all the great post.

Option 2:
Purchase 2 prepaid phones and port the numbers to them after your agreement expires. Then port them to your sero lines.

hey whats up guys, this is officially my first post anywhere on this website/forum and i figured i'd share my experience when getting SERO put on my phone last night. I actually started to get educated on the plan here as a matter of fact so thanks for opening my eyes guys. so heres my senerio and how I got the awesome plan.
previous/current plan til billing cycle starts over on the 1st of march:
400 fair and flexible minutes $39.99
7pm N/W $0.00
300 Texts $5.00
Powervision $25.00 (free trial currently because i just resigned a 2yrAgr)
With that set-up my bill would cost realistically about $70.00 plus the taxes and such which brings it to a grand total of somewhere around $80.00-ish
Now for the discounts:
500 Fair & Flexible $30.00
300 Texts $5.00
Powervision $0.00
15% discount for loyalty for the next 2 years (been exclusively with only sprint as a cell provider for 6 years)
According to my rough estimate After the 15% disount every month my bill will be $30.00 plus the 5 dollars in taxes and stuff.
How'd I do? I know i prolly could have gotten texts free and such but i wasn't about to push my luck at 2am in the morning.
All I did to get the SERO Plan was dialed *2,, talked to a CSR, explained That an acquaintance at the sprint store (actually a friend of a friend) told me about SERO and that I should be eligible for it considering i've been with Sprint for so long. Immediately i was transferred to the employee CSR Dept. and The lady right away told me about the 3 available. 500, 1250, and 2500. she put me on the 500, transferred over all the discounts and stuff and gave me the details on the plan that i will have mentioning N/W started at 9pm (at the time i didn't think anything of it so i didn't argue the 5 dollars for 7pm N/W at the time) roughly 30 minutes later i was back on the phone with CSR after reading the fine print at www.sprint.com/sero and saw that 7pm was supposed to be included till 12/31/07 in SERO. well all in all the CSR after a few moments of "not being able to edit the plan" found a different code and updated my plan to not charge for 7pm N/W.
so after that i believe i got a great deal and have been fairly compensated for my loyalty to to sprint. now all i have to do is wait till the bill cycle to end and see how things go from there.
hopefully that helps others out to inform them on what is possoible when requesting this package. thanx for everyone elses threafds in helping me out.

Ok so heres another question...
Everytime someone asks about SERO I point them to these threads, forums etc... But whenever it is someone with additional lines or shared minutes I dont know what to tell them. So my question is what is the best advice for someone like my sister who has two lines, sharing minutes, no discounts on anything and wants SERO and maybe another line? What is the best route for her to take?

Are those two lines out of contract, or close to it?
You can't share minutes on SERO so my understanding is that those two lines will have to be split up and put on their own individual plans. When it comes to SERO, I don't think there are too many options for this type of situation.

The lines have about one more year to go, I think. So thats my problem does she have to wait then get it later or try the whole calling around thing? And if so can the lines that are shared be broken up into different ones?

There have been other members who have successfully switched a family plan to individual sero lines....if you can find a rep who will do it.
My advice is to go for the addons, like texting, discounts, etc, then attempt the switch to sero.

02-12-2007, 11:44 AM
Well, after 9 attempts at SERO I finally got my way.....sort of. Mary from the Orlando call center, cancellations department. I told her that I already ordered 2 SERO phones..and that I wanted to cancel them now due to the fact that my numbers couldn't be ported over. I also said that I would just wait out my current contract which ends April 19th.
She looked up my account information and told me that while she could not port my numbers over, she could make my current plan look like the SERO plan. I currently have the Family plan in which I share 800 anytime minutes with my wife, 7pm N/W, 5$ per 100 mins over. So she added 200 anytime minutes to each line, gave me free Power Vision on each phone, and 500 free txt.
Now thinking about it I should have asked for a 10% loyalty discount added to each line. I already have 15% Military discount though. My only other stipulation was to get the phones and accesories I ordered at the price I ordered them at. She said that she would send my phones overnight for free today. (So I could have my wifes RED RAZAR for V-Day. She has had the same phone for the past 2 years) As far as the accesories I could just keep the ones that I ordered with the SERO phones and send just the phones back to cancel the contract.
So while I did not get the SERO plan I am still pretty happy with what I did get out of it. I had told her about the hell that the past reps had put me through and she was very nice to me. My bill price will not change from what it is now....but my benifits will...I can live with that.
Thanks to all of you for the good advice...and good luck to all you SERO hopefuls.

ahmarquis, it sounds like you got a fantastic new plan. I have a plan similar to your old plan, in which 4 phones share 800 minutes, with the $5 for 100 minutes. Did that change at all? I also pay extra for several of the phones to have vision/powervision and texts plans( 2 have 500 free texts, one has unlimited free texts and one has $2.50 unlimited text, all of which I'm happy about). The amount of monthly minutes is what's squeezing us, but I don't want to give up the $5/100 min option. My contracts are up at all different times the first being in November. How did you go about getting the extra minutes added, who did you call? I did recieve an email stating that I could get SERO till the end of February, which is open to all, I'm sure it would restart all contracts of course. And a couple of the lines need newer phones already too. Should I call, asking for the cancellations dept and say I was offered SERO in an email, but dont really want to change from my family plan? Right now my bill averages around $100 per month, with both a 15% loyalty discount and a 21% biz discount.

I got SERO! =) I called up, and the rep didn't even ask for the email either. The call went to the Philippines, not Idaho. I got the 500 evdo, so yay. Something that was weird though is that I tried to transfer my mom's line over too, but they said that she couldn't do it because my mom doesn't have a PV phone. My mom has an 8300....but i know what someone else here has it on their 8300...=(

You will need to call back and have them look for the non-evdo code for SERO. I don't have a PV phone either and the rep did not have any problems finding the correct code. My SERO is scheduled to go into effect next week.

If I sign up for Sero under the current public offer on the website, can I also get the credit union discount that Sprint offers to members of credit unions? This would be a first time sign up with Sprint as I am switching from Vzw. And I would be getting two lines - so two Sero plans (and two credit union discounts if possible).

You'd have to get the discount after your account is set up. I'd wait a full billing cycle before adding it personally.

first off, i did call back after that first rep and spoke to two different people and finally they changed my mom's current plan to a SERO plan cutting my mom's bill by nearly half. due to go into effect at the start of the next billing cycle. i'm very happy about this. thank you sprint!
secondly, i asked the rep about the discount i get through my work, and she said that my u/l text for $10 will remain on my account, my TEP will remain on the account, and my discount through my work will remain on my account. the only change is my plan, but you're saying that that may not be the case? i'm planning on calling tomorrow again just to confirm that the plans were entered correctly and that there are no "surprises"...

All of the features you currently have on your account will remain without any problems. It is trying to add more discounts on top of SERO that may be hard to do.

Nothing else changes in my plan. I still have the $5 for every 100 mins over. But now that they added 200 extra anytime minutes to each phone line I do not think that we will go over. The cancellations rep Mary in Orlando, FL was the one who added the minutes and extra benifits. Thanks MARY!
I simply called cancellations and told them that since they would not port my numbers over to the 2 sero phones that I bought, that I would like to cancel the sero phones and I would be gone when my current contract was over in April. She offered to make my current plan resemble a SERO plan and I would still keep all my other benifits of my old plan. Next for me is working on getting atleast a 10% loyalty discount. Good luck.

Here goes my first post... venting some of my frustration here! I want so badly to switch my current plan to 2 SERO plans, but have not been able to get anyone to do it no matter how hard I've tried. I have called *2 and 866-503-3078 (number suggested by someone) over and over and gone all the way through to cancellations/retention. I've tried several of the "techniques" employed here. But I can't get anyone to do it to save my life. They all say that there is no way to do it other than the website and that there is no way to switch my existing plans (i.e. phone numbers) to the SERO plan. :frustrate
Right now we have an admittedly good inexpensive plan (2 lines share 500 mins with unlimited N&W and mobile2mobile for $48 INC. taxes & fees). But DH and I really want the unlimited web access and free roaming. We can't even get a signal in our own house on Sprint's network! We have no contract currently, have been with Sprint for at least 6 or 7 years and have perfect payment history, great credit, etc., but everyone we call seems to have no problem in having us cancel. The most they've offered is discounted power vision or 500 free text messages (don't use and don't need!). I've even tried letting them know we will add telenav and phone ins. meaning more money for Sprint. Still no dice. What am I doing wrong and why do I feel like the world is conspiring against me? :D

Just wanted to chime in with what I've been running into in my attempts to get my phone transfered to a SERO account. When talking to Customer Care I've asked to have my regular F&F 400 account changed to a SERO 500 account, and, if that's possible, I'll sign up for a mobile broadband unlimited account now instead of sometime after Nov. when my contract expires.
I've tried 4 times so far with no luck. What usually happens is I start off in Customer Care and they usually don't know about SREO accounts, or they are unable to help me. At this point I'm bounced around 1-3 more times before finally getting transfered to Employee Care (888-876-8381). At this point I put in my cell phone #, it goes silent for about 10 seconds, and then I get the opening prompt for what I assume is Customer Care (unless they both use the same voice menus).
Not sure if it matters but tonight when I tried I was told they were unable to take my call after I told the voice menu to speak to a representative. After I did the Employee Care loop and then told the voice menu to speak to a representative it just hung up on me.

They offered me PV at I think $15 per phone instead of $25. That would add $30 to my existing plan which would exceed 2 SERO plans by $15 plus no free digital roaming, no additional 500 minutes (currently we SHARE 500 minutes - with SEROs we would EACH have 500 minutes). It is the text messages, not the PV that we wouldn't use. Since we are out of contract, we could cancel and just get 2 new phones with SERO plans, but we would lose our phone numbers. My phone number is on all my business cards, stamps, etc. It would be a major pain and $$ to change. That's why I keep trying for SEROs. On hold with another call now. My 10th since my last post. they are likely offering the $25 pack as thats what they are pushing. Ask if you can get $10 off of the powervision access pack, which would result in you paying $5 a month for it.
Alternatively, add the $25 plan for the 1st month (its free) and then call and say you dont need all its features and want to switch to the access pack. The $10 credit code should work on any level of vision, but the rep may only apply it against the $25 option. If you call to swicth plans, just say you tried the ultimate plan to see if it was right for you, but you figure access is fine and its $10 cheaper too.
Can't hurt to ask, right?

Ok, sprint data plans 101.
Power Vision
- covers data from the phone
- does not cover using phone as modem for computer
Power Vision: $15 plan
Unlimited data, no picture mail, music store access, a few TV channels focusing on the news channel.
Power Vision: $20 plan
Same as $15 + picture mail and more TV channels.
Power Vision: $25 plan
Same as $20, but even more TV and streaming audio channels, plus 4 free songs from the music store every month.
PAM plan
- unlimited data for phone, and allows connecting phone as modem.
- costs $30 or $40 a month, I forget which
Even the $25 power vision plan does not cover all streaming channels, though it has the most with it. Alot of the channels are not really live but are prerecorded stuff cycling around, like the discovery channel and the cartoon network channel.

Gotcha! There are two weeks left for the SERO promo and it may be easier for you to get a "SERO-like" plan instead of SERO. Since you are out of contract, you do have some leverage. If the minutes aren't a problem and the web access is really what you are looking for the most, getting the $10 credit off of the PV Access Pack for two lines would put you around the same monthly cost as SERO.

We've had a FamilyShare Plan (priced ~$100) for 2.5 years that included unlimited internet (the old slow version) on my primary line and it cost $10-15 to add it to the second line. Our contract expired last July.
Last night at ~7:30p (Pacific) I made my first SERO attempt. Here's how it worked.
I called 888-876-8381 and got Baton Rouge Call Center.
Good evening, my partner recently started working for a new company. They claim to get a discount with Sprint. I was wondering whether you could verify that. He works for Accenture. What's that? A 25% discount. That's great! We'll go into a Sprint store to show his ID etc...
By the way, my contract expired last July and we've been trying to decide whether or not to re-up with Sprint for another 2 years. I've heard about these new SERO plans that look pretty attractive. At this point, he started giving me all the details about the SERO plans. He split our lines into 2 seperate $50 1250 Min/7PM/PV/Roam/M2M plans. I mentioned that many people are getting Unlimited Text, but he wouldn't offer it. We only use a dozen text messages a month, so no big deal...can't be greedy...bs!
Oh, and my phone bill for the past few months has mentioned a 10% loyalty discount if I renew. He said no problem. (this became a problem a little later)
Gee, now that we've done that, it looks like we'll need to upgrade our 3 year old phones. At this point, he only offered us 2 Moto Qs at $199 each. I asked him about Verizon's $99 offer. He said he had to transfer us to customer service since they had better deals on phones....during the transfer, I got disconnected.
I called back immediately to the same number and got Baton Rouge again. Told them that a very nice gentlemen was just helping us with our plans. Would you mind reviewing what he did. Everything was OK except he only gave us a 5% loyalty discount. The new rep said I couldn't get the 10% with the SERO plans. I let it go. I then explained how I had been disconnected while getting transferred to customer service to discuss phones and got transferred to "customer service".
I was now talking to very nice young lady from New Mexico. I explained that I had just re-upped for 2 years and needed to take care of phones. The gent I was just talking to offered us $199 each for 2 Q's, but I've heard that Verizon is offering the Q for $99. At this point, she asked why I got transferred to her..."Did I mention cancelling?" No, but I realized that I must have been talking to retentions at this point. She asked where I heard about the $99 Q. I said that it was "all over the net". She asked where. I said "SprintUsers.com" (quite proudly and educated her about this fabulous site). At this point, she wanted to see it in writing. I googled +"motorola q" +verizon. The first "sponsored link" mentioned the $99 Q, but when you actually followed the link to verizon's store, the price was now $149. I also found an inphonic site (http://www.inphonic.com/specialoffer.aspx?cid=34031_7fb2196737ad4c47b483bf 887d0c72a2) that listed it as $99. "Isn't Inphonic your own partner?"
At this point, she said OK, I'll do the $99 Q. She ordered the Qs and applied a lot of service credits and said that they'd ship out in the next day or two via overnight and that we'd have them by Friday.
This morning, I called into the number from my phone bill that mentioned the 10% loyalty discount (877-592-0898) and explained that I called in last night to re-up for 2 years. The gentleman said that he had applied the 10% loyalty discount that was offered on my bill, but it appears that only 5% actually got applied. She apologized and explained that I couldn't get both the 5% discount and the 10% discount. Would I prefer if she changed me to the 10%? Absolutely and thank you very much!
Now we just need to go into the Sprint store and transfer the account liability into my partner's name so we can add the Accenture 25% discount.
We should end up at 2 Motorola Q for $99 each. 2x SERO 1250/7PM/PV/M2M/ROAM for $50 each. Less 10% Loyalty Discount. Less 25% Accenture Discount.
Now I'm just hoping that I chose the right phone. I was vascillating between the Q and the 700wx. I chose Q due to the smaller size and the fact that my PDA (Mio 168) has built-in GPS that I use ALL THE TIME. If I was stuck carrying two devices (i.e., 700wx + bluetooth GPS receiver), I may as well just get the Q and use the PDA where I need full PocketPC functionality...and GPS. Besides, this way I can chat and drive at the same time.
Key tips:
- Always start with Good Morning/Evening.
- Always ask their name..."Excuse me, I didn't catch your name" (People like to be treated as people not just anonymous objects...except in bath houses)
- Ask where they're located and make small talk.
- Thank them for everything. Have you ever noticed how call centers have become overtly friendly (e.g., thank you for waiting, thank you for your patience, we appreciate your business)...it works on them too.
- Have your data ready...Have the exact URL for the $99 Q on your screen before you call. Know what you want in advance.
- Don't let them see you get frustrated.
I hope this dissertation helps someone else be successful with SERO.

They offered to add free unlimited Power Vision to our plans and 500 free text messages plus gave us a V3m Razor for free for DH and a Treo 700wx for $200 for me. That gives us still 500 Anytime minutes to share, unlimited N&W starting @ 7 and unlimited mobile to mobile plus the free PV on both phones and 500 text messages for $48 a month including all taxes & fees. Of course, DH will be adding Telenav to his phone and insurance to both as soon as the phones come in. That's still leaving us without the digital roaming and 500 less minutes, but will be saving $15-20 a month. So what do you guys think of this plan? Should I go with that or try the prepaid switcheroo that Scottee suggested?
On another note, in a previous call I was told that with the unlimited PV in the Sero plan, I could use my Treo as modem for my laptop. After seeing this:
Power Vision
- covers data from the phone
- does not cover using phone as modem for computer
After this post, I am now wondering if this was not true or if I will be getting it with the new plan? This was a big part of the reason I wanted the Treo and the PV. The other is streaming tv from my Slingbox. :D Inquiring minds...

You might checkout an application called PDANet. It enables you to use your phone as a modem for your laptop. It DOES violate Sprint's terms of service. This shouldn't be a problem for lightweight usage (e.g., checking emaile etc.). Streaming video would chew up a lot of bandwidth and MAY cause problems.
On the other hand, I do intend to use my Moto Q to stream my new Slingbox Pro to it. The bandwidth usage should be the same whether viewing on the Q or on a laptop unless the larger display causes a higher-resolution image (which would drive more bandwidth), but I doubt it.

First time poster long time browser,I finally got the SERO 500 for $30 and let me tell you it was a pain,I must have called about 8 times no one seemed to know about sero,I finally got Linda in the Ohio CC @1:30pm LAX time and she got the ball rolling for me,just when I thought I was in she got an error code because I wanted to keep my free 500txt and my nights @6pm for $5 on my 2 lines,so she said she had to transfer me to Select Services and they would take care of everything and they can offer anything and in the middle of the transfer we got cut off and I had to call back and I had to explain the whole situation and they said they saw the notes and Jeremy transferd me to Select Services and Michele took care of me and broke my FF800 family plane $69 in to 2 lines and gave me 2 Moto Red for free, which we are not going to use because we have ppc6700's.

She was incorrect........... it comes with unlimited instant messaging (like aim, yahoo) but not true text messaging.

Quite doubtful. In honesty, I think that you getting the $8 unlimited texting plan would be a reasonable request. You could try something like:
I was told that my plan included unlimited text messaging when I placed my order. It appears that the plan doesn't actually include any text messaging, but a friend of mine said that sprint let him have unlimited texting for $8.
I was wondering if I might be able to add the unlimited texting option for $8? Though I was told originally it was included, I think paying an extra $8 would be a fair compromise.
You dont come off sounding like your demanding something free (you know how cheap the plan is already!) and sound reasonable (lets go half way between free and $15.)
Good Luck!

Yes, that'd be the best route to take.
Also, if you take a look at the "Tips for contact E-Care" thread in the sticky of this forum, you will see that it was started by someone who works for Sprint. He mentioned that people with SERO are the ones who bombard ecare with the most requests for more freebies. So just my two cents, but you probably don't want to fall into that demographic.

Hey guys, I finally got my plan switched to SERO, and here's the story. Sorry it's so long.
First, a friend who recently added a new line of service through the sprint.com/sero website (which is run by inPhonics) got a call from the "Sprint Welcome Committee" or something asking him how he liked his new service. While he had them on the line, he asked them about me and whether I switch my current plan to SERO and not order it from the website, which would require me to get a new line of service and get a new phone number (i wasn't so keen on doing the pre-paid phone swap). So the nice lady on the line said that if I go to a store they should be able to do it no problem, just explain the situation how I would rather change my plan to keep my phone number.
I was skeptical, but I went to the store. The second I mentioned SERO, the guy says, "Whoa, man, we can't do that here, you have to call up customer service. They can take care of that, but we can't have anything to do with employee discounts. We can't even sign up ourselves here." Now I've heard differently on this forum, but whatever.
I knew *2 wouldn't do anything for me, because I tried a dozen times last month, but I tried to get Claire to send me somewhere where they know what they are doing. I don't know how, but the woman picked up with: "Hello, this is the Idaho Center, where we can address all issues." Halleluja! I told her the story about how someone on the phone sent me to the store, which sent me back to the phone, and she replied with: "You want to switch to SERO? No problem, do you want to start now or on your next billing cycle?" That was easy.
The hard part was getting a new phone for the $299 that's listed on the inPhonics web site. That is the other half of this long story - I'll save it for another post - but the short of it is that after speaking to 4 other persons I told them that I guess I'll have to just cancel my service and go through the inPhonics web site, at which point they transfered me to Retention, who sold me the phone directly at a price of $299.

Would it make any difference when the calls are made or do they just put you on a voice router and spin the call wheel to place you?

Don't know how they route the calls. But looking at the location in everyone's profile, it seems like most of the people who get the Idaho CC are in Michigan and further down the East coast.

I just got the $50.00 SERO plan!!!! I called in *2 (I already have a business plan). I said I was interested in changing my plan to the 50.00 SERO plan and I gave her the web address. She had never heard of it before but looked it up and read all about it and then added to my plan. I had to sign a new 2 year contract. She said she is going to tell her son about the plan. I confirmed that the plan has been changed on my account on the sprint account web site.

I added a 3rd line to my acct. yesterday and got it on the 500 sero. 1st I got a deal on the phone Samsung a900m for $25 after instant credits no MIR. They put me on that $29.99 200 min plan. after that was all setup and my phone was shipped i call a few times, and asked about getting sero most reps didn't know about these plans and the ones that did said that couldn't do it. But finally a rep saw my other 2 lines with sero an put me on hold to see what he can do and said because I'm a valued customer 4+ yrs he put another 1 one for me. but sprint is definitely cracking down on freebies.

What a disaster I have. I am on a contract which is expired and Im on day to day. I am using the ic502 hybrid and now decided I want to go over to the Sprint side on the SERO plan offer I got in an email. Heres the dilema, lol
If I sign up for the sero plan with a new phone they told me they would try and port my number from the Nextel side, which is what the ic502 is considered. Turns out If I do that customer service says that I have to get my number on an old Nextel phone because if I am on the Sprint toweres they will not be able to grab the number. Next problem is I dont have a regular Nextel phone anymore so i guess I am stuck.
If I get a prepaid phone it says it might take 10 days to port the number and the sero plan ends the 28th and thats cutting it close! The only option i see is just cancel my account with that phone,,,,,and get a new number which I really dont want to do.
Any suggestions?

Can you just go on eBay and buy a cheapo Nextel phone to satisfy that requirement?
If not, I guess your only option is the new number. In that case, I would say sign up for SERO and keep your Nextel line active for another month or so (if you have the means to do so) while you transition out of it. I know new numbers suck but at least this way you won't have to immediately contact everyone you know and give them your new number.

Im not sure about buying another Nextel because they are not even sure which department can transfer the number back to the nextel and then I need another sim card to boot. I think the only option is just to get the sero plan with a Sprint line,,,and get a new number and transition out of it like u said. The sero plane is so sweet compared to what I have now,,,I was looking at the 1250 plan with all included,,,I will be saving money for sure.

I think you should get your phone early next week- they usually send it in 2 days or something like that. Activation fee should be waived too I believe...
