I just recently called retentions to see if I once more could be switched over to sero, of course once again denied! The guy did tell me he would throw in the powervision I currently have for free, and also include unlimited texting. The plan I'm on now is currrently 35.00 with an additonal 25.00 for powervision. With what they would be doing it would come out to 35.00/month. Should I go with this and just forget about sero? Or just wait until contract ends which is next week and and cancel and reopen on the sero? The only downside would be loosing my current number and any credits I can get with being a long time customer. Just looking for you sprintusers thoughts on this? Thanks!

One thing you could do to keep your number and get SERO would be to port your number out to another carrier (probably a prepaid carrier like tmobile or page plus) when your contract ends. Then, once your sprint account is closed and the port complete, sign up for a new SERO plan and port the number from the other provider back over to sprint.

I'd personally hold out for the SERO plan, and do something like I suggested above. Just my humble opinion, of course.

This is a lot of trouble and extra expense.... Ask those who followed the strategies of the Fairy Godmother, and you won't lose anything, not your number, not your current discs and perks... Just gotta know who to ask... Have faith, Mind...

No need to lose that number of your on the OOC. Just wait till your contract expires. Then add a new sero line to your account. The best way to do this is thru the phone instead of online. I know this because I just did this a few weeks ago. I wanted to keep my old number and I was out of contract. I tried to sign up thru sero on the website but then they say I was already had a account so they couldn't really do it as a new account but an added line. I got the DLX. I played around with it and decided to keep it. After awhile you have to cancel your OOC line but tell them to reserve the number. When they cancel the line and reserve the number that number is kept in the system and not given out so you don't lose it. Took about 4 hours after the number was reserved and I was able to switch out the old number to the new line and bada bing bada boom.:headbang2 If you really need help talk to liglyrichbich!!!! She is the best!!!!!!!!!! She helped me through the whole prcoess and I would be lost without her :hee: Thats my advice and other is to talk to liglyrichbich. She rocks!!!!!!!! :headbang2

Wondaful... I'm happy for you... did you get a brand new phone? What'd you get? Is it a PV (Power Vision compatible) phone? There is a difference, looks like you got the older SERO. If you got a brand new device and it is a PV phone, I'd contact CS or ecare to have them add not just "Unlimited Vision Access" but Unlimited PV Access, now standard to the new F&F 500 SERO which also includes PictureMail for free. Otherwise, the other Power Vision Bundles are add-ons that are billed on a monthly recurring. Go to the Power Vision page of Sprint online to see what's available to you. But first, tell me what device you got...

Yes a brand new phone. It's the LG Muziq. It is compatible with Power Vision.

Thanks I'll try to do that.

Hey liglyrichbich. On my plan it shows as unlimited vision access as well. What is the difference between that and unlimited Power Vision?? Did you get unlimited power vision on your phone???? I think we talked about this before but I was unable for them to add a power vision plan to me unless I was charged like 25 bucks. That includes like all the tv channels and stuff. As of right now I can get some radio and some tv but not all. Like CNN, MTV and stuff like that. Fill me in on what you mean with asking for Unlimited PV Access. Thanks!!! :thought:

Hey everyone, sorry more questions...Well with your responses I got it sounds like I do indeed need to go for the Sero. My current plan expires on Friday so I will be doing this very soon. Anyway was just curious do I need to purchase a new phone when I go to this plan? Is it better to go through the website or talk to an actual rep? I've been told to just go ahead and sign up and I've also been told I need to cancel then sign up? As always any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Being out of contract is your leverage. Cal *2 and say "cancel." When the Retentions rep asked why, tell them you were told you needed to cancel in order to sign up for a SERO plan. They'll most likely just set you up with the plan right then and there. Be ready to agree to a new two year contract though.

On my plan it shows as unlimited vision access as well. What is the difference between that and unlimited Power Vision??

Vision = 1xRTT - The designation "1x", meaning "1 times Radio Transmission Technology." Although capable of higher data rates, most deployments are limited to a peak of 144 kbit/s.

Power Vision = EVDO - Evolution-Data Optimized is a telecommunications standard for the wireless transmission of data through radio signals, typically for broadband Internet access with air interface speeds of up to 2.4 Mbit/s with Rev. 0 and up to 3.1 Mbit/s with Rev. A.

Slightly OT, but, maybe not.

I have a Sanyo SCP-7050, which is not EVDO capable, but with my SERO plan on that phone's web home screen it shows "Power Vision" even though it's not a "Power Vision" phone, if I understand what is being said here.

http://tijil.org/scp_7050_screen01.jpg

Am I confused, is Sprint confused, or is my poor 7050 confused?

Tom

My guess is that it's just a general title bar at the top of Vision/Power Vision home screen. Sprint has probably slapped "Power Vision" on just about everything vision-related seeing as how they'd want to stick with the Power Vision name instead of just plain ol' Vision. You're SERO plan is most likely coded with the correct SERO-regular Vision plan.

Since your DLX is a PV Device, it would've been coded with the Basic Unlimited Power Vision that comes with PictureMail. See the PV Vision Page to check out all the different PV Bundles with recurring monthly as add-ons... They range in price depending on which pack you choose to add...

Yes, our devices are PV capable...

Wow I just dont get it I was sure that since my parents phones have been out of contract for at least 5 yrs Nextel would be a little better to deal with but they dont seem to be. I have been trying for a couple days to get my parents on SERO to help save them some money but Account Services keeps tell me they have never heard of SERO or cant do it. One rep actually got upset with me for being out of contract for so many years and told me I needed to get on a 2 yr contract again I told him no thanks but dang. So what can I do to help my parents get SERO they have had Nextel for almost 10 yrs and they need to keep there numbers I really dont know what to do now. Any help? :(

Good for getting Sero but it seems strange that you still have to pay for Vision... Are you sure it was Sero and not a Sero-like clone that the rep set you up with?

good luck on clearing this up with e-care and keep up posted...

OK...So I sent e-care an e-mail. They fixed it but they said it won't take effect until the next billing period:mad:. I guess I can't be upset...I don't mind paying less than I was paying before SERO as long as my SERO is fixed after this month. I just hope it really shows up next billing period. If not...I have the e-mail from e-care saved. Thanks for all the help on this forum. I got SERO after 3 tries. I told my bf about it and he doesn't believe Sprint offers a plan this cheap. I told him to wait 'til he sees my bill!!! :hee:

I got a thank-you offer from Sprint in the mail to get $100 off my Sprint service as a credit if I renew for 2 years. I called and they were part of the "Loyalty Group". I'm not sure what they do so when I called, the girl asked if I wanted to renew for 2 years and I told her only if I could get on the SERO plan. She first asked me what that was and I told her and then she immediately said, "we don't have that" so I told her I'd keep shopping around with other carriers unless I got on those plans. Is Loyalty Group the same or different than Retensions? If they're different, my next call will be with them. Will they honor this thank-you offer?

The Loyalty Group is not Retentions. The sole purpose of the Retentions department is to try and persuade people who want to cancel, not to cancel. Are you out of contract, or nearing the end? If not, you will not have much leverage for getting a SERO plan.

I was finally able to get the 1250 min SERO plan. Don't want to boast (since that is an obvious no-no here) but I just want to let others know what worked for me.

I have been OOC since August, so I called retentions and told them that i have been a loyal sprint customer for 5 years, and that I was frustrated that new customers could get better plans that I could, i.e. SERO. At first I told her I wasn't necessarily trying to sign up for SERO, but was just frustrated that I had to pay so much for all of the extra stuff on my plan (e.g. vision, mobile to mobile, SMS, etc), and wanted to see what kind of help I could get with that. I told her that new customers could get all of that included in their SERO plan at no additional fee.

At first she told me that SERO was only available to employees, but I read her the language on the SERO site that it was available to new Sprint customers as well. She put me on hold for a couple of minutes and came back and told me they could switch me to the SERO plan.

So no dishonesty, just told them it wasn't right that a new customer could a better deal than I could, and thankfully they agreed.

I bought the Palm Centro online using my upgrade.

Hope this helps.

Oh, and I want to thank Liglyrichbich for all of her help. It's amazing that you individually help all the people that have asked for help getting SERO.

Actually you're both just a tad bit off. The SERO website dictates that it is for new customers only, thought Sprint still converts some existing lines over (though not at the high rate which they used to). The catch is, SERO is meant for friends and family members of Sprint employees.

Yep, I've been OOC for over a month now. The previous few times I have tried to get SERO right after I went OOC I was shot down. Not sure why, but I might try MikeTsGirl's approach because I feel the same way. I never ask for anything so hopefully that will bid well in my favor.

What hours are retention reps available?

I'm on an ooc family plan with a friend of mine....he is the main account holder.
We are going into a store tomorrow to pick me up a new phone as mine has broken and to renew our contract. (for some reason he would rather go into the store, which is a retailer btw as no corporate store within 70miles of here, than do this online)

My question is: what would be the best course of attack to get me on a sero plan giving this situation? We have no problem separating the lines if it means a lower bill and better services.

I know this has probably been answered somewhere in here, but as discombobulated as my mind is after work today, I have just not been able to make sense of anything, so my apologies if this question is redundant.

P.S. If someone has an email address I can use for sero, I would be most appreciative in getting it. I was going to use one from a list I found on this site but would feel better getting one personally.

As long as you actually know a Sprint employee and you have proof, it shouldn't be a problem, even if your are an existing customer who is out of contract.

if you see an actual person's email address on the forum then use it. I seriously doubt the store will do the Sero account for you. The best thing would be to do it online. Really the only reason's I go into the sprint store is to test the phones, pay my bill and take my phone in to get services.

As long as you and your friend have no problems splitting the plan into two individual lines, then it shouldn't be too difficult (the key phrase is "shouldn't be"). You will both need to go into a corporate Sprint store, and the main account holder will need to ask to have the lines separated into two sub accounts. I can almost guarantee you that the Sprint store will not assist you in converting either line to a SERO plan, so be prepared to choose temporary individual plans for each line. Once you split the family plan and you're placed on two separate individual plans, this is most likely where you're Sprint store experience will end. One thing I'm not entirely sure about, is whether or not Sprint is going to require you to agree two new 2-year contracts on each line with the split. I know it sounds pretty lame, but trust me, Sprint uses each and every chance they can to re-up a contract, so that basically means that with almost any change to an account, a new contract agreement is required.

After you're done at the Sprint store, your next step will be to acquire a Sprint employee email address (hopefully legitimately). After you obtain the email address call *2 and say "cancel" so that you can speak with a Retentions rep. Explain to the rep that you've been shopping around but you've heard about the SERO plans from a Sprint employee (hopefully the one who will be kind enough toe provide you with their email address), and you're interesting in switching to one of those plans. Being out of contract and having a legitimate Sprint employee email address will give you a lot of leverage towards getting yourself on a SERO plan.

if you see an actual person's email address on the forum then use it. I seriously doubt the store will do the Sero account for you. The best thing would be to do it online. Really the only reason's I go into the sprint store is to test the phones, pay my bill and take my phone in to get services.

I think the right thing to do, would be to ask that particular person if it's ok to use their address beforehand. Also, he wouldn't be able to do it online since he has an existing line that is out of contract. You can do an upgrade to SERO via the website.

The other three times I have tried (not through Retentions), I've had legitimate email addresses - several friends work there - but they still wouldn't budge even though I was out of contract. I'll try again through Ret and let you know what happens.

Actually you're both just a tad bit off. The SERO website dictates that it is for new customers only, thought Sprint still converts some existing lines over (though not at the high rate which they used to). The catch is, SERO is meant for friends and family members of Sprint employees.

You're right, it says it's for both new customers and existing customers wanting to add another line. But with the retentions rep I was trying to get her to understand that it wasn't just for Sprint employees. Plus I was trying to push the fact that new customers are eligible for much better deals than existing customers. But you are right she could have just said it's for friends and family of employees and ended the call there, but thankfully she didn't.

I tried not to stress the existing customers adding a new line because I really didn't want to have to to do that, and then deal with porting and all of that.

Again, just stress that you have been a loyal customer and that it's not right that new customers get the good deals. And hopefully you'll have the same outcome I did.

And I hope I'm not coming off like I know more than some of the good folks that have been posting on here forever and offering lots of good help to a lot of people.

I recognize that MidwestDrummer and LiglyRichBich know way more about this than I do.

I just wanted to offer up what worked for me. But I do realize that I had the good fortune of dealing with a retention rep that didn't stress the friend/family of a Sprint employee.

I have a question: If you apply for SERO online, using a legit email address, how does Sprint actually know if you're a friend or family of the address holder? Do they contact them? Or do they just run your credit, etc. I mean if you have a casual relationship witha Sprint rep are they notified if you use them for SERO?

Right at the sign up process there is no way fpr Sprint to tell if you actually know someone who works for Sprint. Not all SERO accounts are audited for validity, but I have heard of a few random incidents where it's happened, and SERO was revoked.

LiglyRichBich: Great Posting...!!! This is what makes this site a forum: PRODUCTIVE SHARING in No-Way Bragging

LiglyRichBich: RELEVANT KEYWORDS Emphasized

At first she told me that SERO was only available to employees, but I read her the language on the SERO site that it was available to new Sprint customers as well. She put me on hold for a couple of minutes and came back and told me they could switch me to the SERO plan.

LiglyRichBich: Being Her Own Advocate, STRONG...!!!

So no dishonesty, just told them it wasn't right that a new customer could a better deal than I could, and thankfully they agreed.

I bought the Palm Centro online using my upgrade (RESOURCEFUL)
Hope this helps. (SHARING)

LiglyRichBich: Great Choice Device :feedback: Since this is BRAND NEW on Sprint Line

*****Oh, and I want to thank Liglyrichbich for all of her help. It's amazing that you individually help all the people that have asked for help getting SERO*****.

Liglyrichbich: GRACE: Acknowledging, giving proper credit and expressing appreciation to those who helped

:good: CONGRATULATIONS, MikeTsGIRL...!!! Glad to be a part of your success in getting your SEROs!!! We're a great team :theteam: here and that's what makes forums like this a great place to be in, among people who have a common goal and having fun achieving it, and sharing all the great outcome in the process. I am very impressed at your posting that I analyzed and broke it down accordingly for people who are misguided and who post here for the wrong reason. I encourage you as I do all that I have helped to share their contribution in terms of further participation in the forums. It feels good to give back and help others in return. In deference to the email account holder and to protect their privacy, I wouldn't use just anyone's email address to gain something from it. It is against the law of propriety,
just as you wouldn't want anyone to use yours without your consent and authority. If you need a legitimate Sprint Employee email address whose owner granted permission to utilize it, all you have to do is put it out there and I'm pretty sure someone, somewhere out there would come forward and provide you with one.

If you are really serious about it and can promise that it will remain private and confidential for the sole purpose of obtaining a SERO account, you are welcome to drop me a PM with a little background of your scenario.

They don't know and really I don't think they care. All they do is verify that the email address is indeed a valid Sprint email address. If it is they'll proceed if not they'll tell you they can't do it.

I was out of contract (OOC) when they switched my line to SERO. At the time, they did not ask me for the email that I have from a Sprint rep.

At one time Tristan on Sprint's Buzz About Wireless posted her email address for everyone to use for sign-up for SERO.

You can search SU and find it.

So how do the mail-in rebates on the devices work. Some require a $25 data plan, but if that service is already included in SERO, how can you redeem the rebate?

It says on the rebate that the data plan requirement doesn't apply to SERO plans.

Vague emergency. I put in for the SERO plan online, went through the entire process of filling out all of the forms online and giving them the number I want to transfer over. When I hit the checkout part it says:Order processing, donot close your browser or hit the back button during the process. Well its been over a half hour with no movement. I could call up, but they have all the credit card and port number information and I'm afraid they will double charge me. Any suggestions? Do you think the order didnt go through because it's frozen or should I wait till eternity? Any suggestions?

I've already posted this to Lily~ due to her wide knowledge and help I've seen on this thread, but I figured to be fair I'd post as well. I encourage a PV if it will help, and have no problem with confidentiality.

I've seen numerous posts regarding the SERO package. I have read through approx. 20-30 of them or more, but so many were redundant or outdated (referring to past dates). Instead of adding to the redundancy, though appreciated, I thought I'd drop a line to ask for some help. Here's my deal.

Been a Sprint user for about 5 years. Had numerous issues that I have called in for, and have been serously considering making the dreaded switch to VZW; however, I called *2 today to get some info and/or discuss termination (I had called VZW earlier today already). I was serious about term., but of course I got the "what can we get you to stay" person. By the time it was all said & done, I received the following:

Plan Features:

* $49.99 Sprint Free Incoming Plan
* 300 Anytime Minutes
* Unlimited Incoming Minutes
* For all plans: Long distance, Roaming, N&W (9:pm), Caller ID, Call Waiting

Add-Ons:
Free: Detailed Billing, 200 Cellular Bonus Minutes, Unlimited N&W @ 6:pm 3way calls; and
Sprint Unlimited Vision Pack $5.0

Discount: 15% Ohio State Gov't Employee discount is pending.

Contract: Expires September, 2008
(Though I dispute that date as well)

Now I realize I have a good deal as-is; however, paying approx. $55/mo is still nearly twice what the SERO deal would be ($30/mo). I'd obviously like to keep the 6:pm N&W, unlimited texts, and would love taking an add'l 15% off due to the job, but $30/mo is still amazing.

I've seen the posts, and from what I gather, I can call or sign on online (email requests), utilize the worker email (Tristan, unless you have a better one), and ask very nicely over and over again till it works.

Does it still work? Can I keep any perks? Is it still a call & keep calling till someone helps? And if calling is the best route (my assumption since I am under contract), do I immediately ask for retention, or will that SERO 800 number work? I am just looking for an all-in-one answer to help.

Also, since I'm already feeling ilke I've asked 100 questions, any recommendations on PDA phones? The Mogul is growing on me, but I'm also a Treo fan.

THANK YOU SO MUCH.

I like the PDA planning & camera features, and the smaller/sleeker the better.

THANK YOU SO MUCH.

I’ve been researching this heavily for a few days now, and glad I stumbled onto this thread – it seems like so much more relevant info than what I’ve been seeing elsewhere.

So my situation is this: I have been a Sprint customer for 8.5 years, and I currently have a family plan with my wife that just went OOC the first of this month. I am very interested in getting a new Centro (which is what sparked this search), especially at the $99 price point, but with already paying for the family plan, I couldn’t justify paying extra for the vision add-ons on top of what we already pay. Then I learned about the SERO plans, and am very interested in getting two of the 500 minute plans, one for me and my wife. I’m not as worried about keeping my number (it would be nice), but my wife’s number has to stay the same, since she uses it for her business. If possible, I’d like to get my wife a new phone as well, since we are OOC (and she drops hers a lot) and for her putting up with me attempting this whole thing :)

After reading about this some on other sites, I was about to try the whole “get a Tracfone and move her number, then move it back after you get the SERO accounts set up online” plan of action, but I was hesitant to take a chance with her number like that – and don’t want to lose my account history.

Unfortunately, as luck of the draw would have it, I don’t currently know any actual Sprint employees. I had previously seen the email address that a lot of sites had up as a valid email, that is supposedly open for the public to use, but would rather use an actual person’s email that is willing to share it, if I can find one – to have a less chance of problems.

After reading this post, I’m excited to see a group that is willing to help each other out so much – I’m so used to seeing just a bunch of random ideas thrown about on forums, like a bunch of chickens with their heads cut off. I’m very impressed at how liglyrichbich and others are keeping this thread up with accurate info. You chickens definitely have your heads still firmly intact!

Ligly, do you mind if a PM comes your way?

I've sent long msgs on this, and each one has to be 'approved' so here's my short version question - Is SERO still available? Is it still better to call the 800 number on the SERO-website? Would anyone be willing to share a Sprint-email (or is Tristan the best still)? Can you keep other extra's (6pm n7w, etc.)? Does the internet included work w/PDA's (ie ActiveSync, etc)? Any other suggestions for someone stuck in a contract (I never agreed to) for another year..... THANK YOU. (feel free to PM if nec)

Well, thanks for the kind words, porkzone... As you have been reading the SERO threads on the site, I'm pretty sure you've got the gist of my postings which is a good thing, since I've developed Carpal Tunnel and have been asking people who reach out to just please go back to them since it's very tedious to be typing (and I work as well but not as a trained secretary) and since I can't do the reading for them, they also have to do some work and be their own advocates.

Sure you're welcome to send me a PM but could you please make sure you include your email address for some pertinent confidential info that I know you've indicated above, you need? I think you know what I mean...:p

Hi everyone. I Am here to say officially I just got approved for sero. I was really anxious because I have another account with sprint and on that account I cannot get a third line due to credit. I thought I will get either declined or they will say i cannot have two accounts. Well, I got the email first saying I need to provide additional info to get the approval. I thought they wanted to verify either the email or pehaps a credit issue. So I called and was very nice, I let them speak before I said anything. Well they did figure out I had anouther account and said it was past due so I need to pay that first. I wasnt sure what that had to do with but ok. I hung up paid my bill and called back. I was told the same thing, and I replied I paid the bill. They put me on hold for like 30 min but came back and said everything was good. They didnt squak at me having the other account just that i needed to keep my spending limits below the $125. And to my suprise I was told I can get three lines with no deposit!

Okay so everything seemed good and like half hour later the sales called my cellphone. I got nervous again but they just wanted to verify my order and I was set. I got the email saying my phone will be shipped and should arrive in a few days. I didnt want to question anything at this point so I am letting it all ride until I get the phone in my hand and set up and after that I'll verify all the discounts and such.

Sure, Porkzone, was at work earlier when I quickly got back to you... If it is the Centro you are targeting, black is available right now and it is on special on the SERO page, red will be available in early November, which is just in a couple of weeks. But since you are OOC on your older accounts, you don't have to wait for anything, matter of fact, you can start the process now. I don't know if, as a long time Sprint customer you got a flyer in the mail for a credit of $115 for a brand new 2yr contract. If you hurry, the offer is good till 10/31/2007 and if you didn't get your flyer, drop me a PM and leave me your email. I will also include the employee referral email address you referred to earlier which is rather confidential to protect the owner's privacy...

Incidentally, :welcome: to the :circle:... We're all a team here :theteam:

I actually PM'ed you earlier today - did it not go through?

I may have got the flyer in the mail and tossed it...I remember getting something a few months ago, but at the time was not interested at all in changing anything, and didn't think of it as a very good deal just for signing a new contract, when I knew I could get new phones pretty cheap for a new contract instead.

Would that discount apply on top of getting a deal on new phones?

I posted earlier but heres an update: I keep getting emails from the websales team saying further info is needed to process my sero account. Its really wierd. I called them this morning and they transferred me to credit who said oh you have two accounts. Now of course I play the I am clueless part. Well its sorta true what I told the, which is I got referred to the sero plan and tried to switch my current account to it but no one seemed to know what I mean and kept telling me just sign up online. Which is true. So I did that and now I have two accounts, Im not sure whay they told me to do it like that. So he says ok well it should be no problem, I'll transferr you to CS and have them just combine the accounts. Too easy I thought. And of course, CS couldn't do anything only for the mere fact I dont even have a sero account # yet so they see I have two accounts but she said I need a 6 digit pin or something which I had no clue about. I assumed it had to be once I get the phone i would get the pin. So she said ok just call back when you get it set up. So I am really weary of all this and the only thing I have is to go to the website and check the order status which has changed from waiting approval, to processing, to now saying shipped. But still no tracking #. Anyway Just wanted to share, and see if theres any comments u guys have. Hoping it all turns out good!:)

I may be way off here, but the new billing system has you set up a PIN for your account, which I don't think is the same as a PIN that your phone uses. A co-worker just got switched to the new billing system, and he had to come up with a username, password, and PIN I believe. It may not have anything to do with your situation, but it may be what they are talking about.

That sounds right porkozone. I've had a Sprint account for 8 yrs and even though I'm OOC now, I still had t set up a PIN / PW to access my account online. I bet that's what the rep was asking for in order to access your account(s)

porkozone

I'm still on the old system, but oddly, I can no longer login with my old word-based username, which I could even a week ago. I can only log in using my numbers...what's really odd is that I know under the new system, you HAVE to set up a username...why would mine stop working? Not a biggee, really, but curious.

Anyway, I'm about to start the process of switching my current lines to SERO by attempting to set up a new account via the SERO site with two lines on it. I've read where a lot of people start this process and it runs into problems b/c they already have an account with Sprint. Is that happening only if they have a current contract, or also if they are a customer that is OOC?

I'm still on the old billing system, and I know the SERO website is on the new one. Maybe setting up the SERO via the site will avoid running into this for me.

Oh this is turning into a problem. I am trying my best to hold my patience. Sprint is calling me again. Saying I have two accounts and I cant. I need to either wait till may next year or cancel one of them. Im telling them its con***ing because I was told to do it this way and they already approved me. So why can't I get the old lines put on the new account? They keep saying the old account isnt credit eligible for a third line. Which I dont want anyway cause its not sero. I wonder if I should call retentions or account services? Im on hold right now while they try to figure out the pin code thing. They say I was supposed to input it when I signed up but I didnt remember doing that. Well they are transferring me back to cs. UGH! I like the sales dept people better. I think they are in argintina or something and they are extremely nice. So they transfer me and its a bad staticy line. I had to hang up I couldnt hear a word. So now he says he has to transfer me to employee dept. All the while I had asked the girl who called is the order actually aproved? She said yes. So I cant understand why they keep calling me to "verify" info. I think their system just has a glitch. The employee # was automated and asked for my phone # which I dont have yet. So I put my other number. I think it took me back to regular cs. Then it said it cant take my call. UGH now Im getting red.....Im taking a breather and then Im calling retentions to see if they can figure it out.

I was on hold with them 30 minutes. She was trying to help me figure it out and the called dropped....of course what else??? I give up. I called back web sales just to reverify that its even been shipped. Okay they claim it has been sent but the tracking is not updated. So I am done messing with this. Once I get the phone in my hand I'll worry about the rest.

10-18-2007, 05:25 PM
So I started my journey...I went to place the order on the SERO website, and when I clicked the "Place Order" button, it started with the progress bar onscreen that said "verifying your credit card" and I think went to something else, then I got an error page saying my request couldn't be completed at this time due to technical difficulties - please try again later or call. So no confirmation number or email. I called my credit card company and they do see that a $1 verification charge had been placed, which I know is pretty common...what I don't know is whether Sprint got the rest of my order and will be charging the rest soon or not. And not sure how to go about finding out.

I called the number, and got web sales, but they couldn't pull anything up, since I didn't have a confirmation number. I gave them my name, but they couldn't find anything under that. When I mentioned I did it under the SERO site, they said they would need to transfer me to that. They transferred me to employee sales, which since I don't have a valid SERO number, won't let me through, and I assume dropped me back to a 1st level CS Rep. She advised me to wait 3-5 days and see if I get anything...

Tomas

When I initially attempted to order SERO I had the very same "technical difficulties" complaint which asked that I try again later.

I tried again the next morning and got the same failure, and within minutes got a call from the Wells Fargo VISA Fraud Department asking if "the following charges" were legitimate: two $1 charges and two $163 charges from SprintPCS in Denver.

I explained that once would have been legit, but not twice. It was recommended that I call Sprint and have them straighten out the problem.

To make a long story short, two days of trudging around the world several times talking to assorted Customer Care representatives and I found that with no confirmation and no order number there was zero way for Sprint to find, let alone fix the double charge, and that even though I'd been double charged, the system had not placed an actual order. I'd had enough for the day.

Next morning I started over trying again to take care of the problem, and ended up talking with Nathan in Canada. In 20 minutes he had my charges straightened out, my two phones on order (SERO) and me happily on my way.

Before I went on my way, though, I asked to speak with Nathan's supervisor and praised his handling of my problem and his overall pleasantness and professionalism. His supervisor said he hears that a lot. :)

So, my guess is you do NOT have an order in the system, and you will need to start fresh. Try the SERO telesales number on the first page of the SERO site...

Take care,

Sounds like it went through. No news is almost always good news... Next thing you'd get, an email advising your order went through with an order number, and another email to follow with a tracking number once warehouse confirms it was shipped or is on its way to customer and when it can be expected. If there were any glitches, you would've heard from them within that day or the next. Just sit tight and relax... AVOID THE SERO HIGH ANXIETY ATTACK... :hee:

PS: You can always go to your CC website and see if anything had gone through aside from $1 verification...

I'm not anxious at all, LRB, I have SERO services, I'm just trying to let porkozone know that just recently I received exactly the same server complaint from the SERO order server, and that it had NOT completed placing the order when it presented that complaint.

Since you then directly contradicted my experience in the next post, I was wondering if you had seen, read, and understood what I was saying.

...and no, I don't care to see your order history, nor do I plan on sharing my cell phone order history since 1984. Just trying to pass on to porkozone my documented recent history of my reception of the same server complaint porkozone mentioned.

Well...may be too late on the SERO anxiety attack part...

I checked again with my credit card, and only the $1 charge was still showing. I called Sprint Order Support trying to find out if my order was in the system, and they could not find anything, so they figured it probably didn't place the order, only the $1 test charge - but she advised to wait 24 hours and make sure nothing showed up on the credit card. She then gave me the "direct number" to SERO for me to double check with them as well...I called it but it was actually a now unused number for Advantage Club, not SERO. So that's twice I've been given the SERO number and twice I couldn't talk to them. LOL

Well, then the anxiety set in, and I went ahead and tried to just place my order again online...this time, like Olddog got earlier, I got all the way through and clicked "place order", and this time at "step 4 of 5" of the progress bar screen, it stalled.

I called "Enterprise Telesales" (the number on the SERO website), and he couldn't find anything, but said if I wanted to set up a new account, I would have to use the website to do so. Order support was closed at this point, so he put me through to customer care (I assume that's the general support line). The guy I spoke with here couldn't find anything either, and didn't really know what to tell me.

So I guess I get to wait for an email confirmation or a credit card charge to come through (that I doubt is going to happen).

TiJiL: How did you resolve the extra credit card charges? Did they just "go away on their own" or did someone at Sprint or Wells Fargo remove them at some point? I read through your links, but didn't see that you ever actually had them removed.

Tomas
10-18-2007, 11:31 PM
Porkozone, the four "charges" from SprintPCS to my credit card were "holds" on the funds (a common practice to reserve the funds to make sure they are available when the charge is put through) and eventually timed out when the actual final charge was not followed up on by Sprint. Took about three-four days for them to quietly vanish away - the same thing that usually happens to those $1 charges companies use to check the validity of a card.

Sorry for the extraneous chatter, porkozone. I'm not here to argue, but to share information.

I am attempting to get a sero plan for 2 lines on my account. I was on hold last night for almost 30 minutes and finally I get someone in retentions who was willing to give me the 49.99 sero plan for both lines. She said it would take place my next billing cycle. I been given the run around with sprint numerous times. So i wanted to confirm that this was actually going to take place with someone else, so I called back later and they said they have no notes or anything of this actually taking place. So now I'm pissed, I have a corporate account and I was wondering what are the procedures from converting from a corporate account to sero?

Well, I'm back. Like I said in my last post I decided to let it all alone and wait it out. Websales had confirmed I was getting the phone so I hoped it would end up well. I even logged into the order status page last night at midnight and it still said it was shipped but waiting tracking. Well I checked this morning and now it says theres a problem. So I call websales.

Back to the two accounts issue. And they tell me again I need to pay my past due first. None of it jives. I already paid the past due, so they call billing to have them update that. Placed on hold while they go back and forth. They needed to ask me for the confirmation # of the payment. Normally I dont write it so Im glad I did this time. I was on the line about 35 minutes. The billing couldn't figure out that I made a payment even with a conf#. Well the sales person processed it anyway. She said its in the handset fullfilment cue and will ship in 24-48 hours. I said "your sure?" because they told me that yesterday. I pray it does go through But I got the feeling because of the other account its going to bounce back.

I mean they keep mentioning that to me. And this gal said they would be able to combine the accounts but then it went into my past due and then she never brought that up again so I don't know??

Holy crap!

I am about to undergo the SERO process, but all I've read as of recent are horror stories, particularly from people who have attempted to do it the "normal" way through the web site... It would seem to me like there's clearly a problem with the site. Unless of course, these are isolated cases related to those who have concurrent accounts...

It would seem like the safe way to go would be through retentions (by converting / cancelling my OOC account).

So they just straight converted your existing line to SERO? Did you get a new phone or anything, or just switch to the new plan?

Edit: oh, so third try for me attempting to order via the website, with no order going through...their web ordering must be really screwed right now or something...prob gonna call the SERO telesales number again, and actually try to order via the phone this time, unless I decide to go the retentions/switch approach - but I definitely want to get new phones.

Oh yes, that's my next question... I've been waiting for the HTC Touch to be released because I want to get upgraded to that phone along w/SERO.

Should I upgrade to SERO now and then get the phone, or should I wait until the release date (Nov. 4)?

I would see if i can upgrade to sero first and then buy the phone.

Yes they just converted it over, did not have to buy a new phone and kepted my current phone #.

Ok, after talking to 15 people today and threatening to cancel my service on both lines I someone said they are actually going to change it now. Hopefully they will. If not you'll have something to read about.

Congrats, hopefully they can get mine in order or I'm just going to cancel and go to alltel or something.

You do realize that existing lines technically aren't eligible for SERO, right?

yea i know, I didn't get the plan and I just settled for a settlement plan they offered, I keep my plan I have the free incoming 300 with 100 bonus minutes and I get unlimited text for free and unlimited internet for 5 and nights at 7 for 5 so thats just about as good as the sero plan, I also get a target discount.

I dont know whether to hate sprint or love them right now. After all the hours Ive been on the phone the past three days, I talked to them this am where they finally confirmed my phone would ship out. To my shock and suprise, when I got home my phone was already here. So I called to activate it, ah herein lies the issue. The order somehow went through twice and they gave me two phones. So she told me to refuse delivery of the other when it arrives. I really hope that doesnt cause issues, and they dont bill my card for it. So far i only got billed once.

Well before I canceled it I told her i did want to bring my existing acct to sero. She was very "firm" in her tone that I wouldnt be able to do that. But she also didnt say I cant have two accts like everyone else was. So I let that one go. I'll deal with it in a week or so. For now I reconfirmed my plan-
Sero
$30/500 at min
un text
pv
7 nights

but one thing- I cant log into the website. I wonder if its cause they messed up the order. maybe the pw they gave me is for the phone that hasnt come yet.

Well anyhow my friday just became great!

After a total of seven attempts in the past two days at ordering via the website and the order not going through (other than an orphaned $1 pre-authorization temporary charge), I just got off the phone with Sprint Enterprise Sales (the number on the SERO website) about an hour ago - and I literally got up and did a "happy dance" as soon as I got off the phone (never done that before, it was rather spontaneously hilarious - glad I was by myself...)

So I'm in!!!!! I hope.

I spoke to Debbie in Ontario Canada. She was awesome. I simply said I heard about SERO from a friend that works at Sprint and that I wanted to order two SERO plans. She asked and I told her that I did have an existing plan but it was out of contract, and that I planned to cancel it. She needed put me on hold (for only 7 minutes) to do a conference call with Account Services to confirm that I was out of contract, and thus eligible for SERO. I told account services I wanted to keep my existing lines for now, so i wouldn't be without a phone.

And away we went to set up my SERO. Debbie never asked me for the referral email, either.

She originally gave me the "all I know is what they tell us" spiel about losing my existing numbers when we were on a conference with Account Services. I pressed pretty hard (nicely) about this point when I was on the phone with both, and they were sticking with the official story, and said Sprint has become very strict about this lately. I pointed out that if I obviously could buy a pre-paid phone and port the number away and back, that Sprint should allow an 8.5 year customer to avoid having to go through that hassle. They basically conceded that it might work if I try to cancel and put the number on hold, and then port the number to the new phone (once I said it), but wouldn't confirm for sure. They said numbers put on hold will stay on hold for 45 days, so I could try it, but to be aware I was risking losing my number that way if I couldn't get it moved by the end of 45 days from cancellation.

However, Debbie later told me I shouldn't have any problem porting the numbers once I've cancelled the existing lines and put the numbers on hold. I think once you cancel, even in the "holding bin" they aren't technically SPRINT numbers anymore, so no reason you can't port them. Plus at that point, you've already signed a contract, so it falls under the normal allowances of moving numbers - you just can't get it set up with the existing number on initial activation. Minor quibble, really, once you understand it.

I get the phones "on or before Wednesday" and I'll probably wait a while before canceling and changing the numbers over, just to be safe.

Now I just hope the SEVEN failed web order attempts I made on the website (and the seven $1 charges) don't come back to haunt me in any way. I think their website is really screwed up right now - one person I talked to earlier today said they were having troubles with the site, "while migrating systems." Who knows.

Truly the best time has to be to call at night. Debbie was great, and she stayed late to help me, and had no problem with me asking a ton of confirmation questions at the end of it all. She said things are much less frenzied for them at night than during the day there. She's even supposed to call me on wednesday to make sure I got everything okay, as a courtesy. I made sure to speak to her supervisor afterward to praise her, and he was ecstatic that someone was actually willing to give positive feedback. He said it would be noted in Debbie's file.

Whew! Now I can think about something else!!!!!! At least till Wednesday...

Major points I've read here, that seem to hold up:
1) If you are OOC, you should be eligible the same as a "new" customer
2) Once you get the account added and up and running, they should be less strict about moving the number (we'll see on that)
3) Be nice. I got frustrated on the phone with a rep earlier today, and got nowhere. I waited till I was ready to be patient again before I called back.
4) Give credit where credit is due. If people would offer positive feedback to a rep's supervisor at the end of a good call, then those reps would be more willing to help people.

Thanks so much to liglyrichbich for your help getting me on the right path, and to TiJiL for sharing your similar experience while I was getting the web order errors.

Now I just hope it all turns out well next week :)

Well I believe I finally placed an order for two SERO lines to add to my existing account. I wrote a full description last night, but it didn't show up and said it needed moderator approval.

Whew. I've realized a lot of the extra clutter we're all facing comes from the two different billing s
