I thought with the change in systems, that it was impossible to get Sero without a new activation.
I guess those that are getting Sero and keeping their number are under the old system or very, very lucky.

man i find it weird that so many people are having issues such as having to get a new number (probably the biggest down fall), start a new contract or having to go through the inphonic website amondst others. when i got into SERO i was changed over right on the phone and it started the next billing cycle. i got to keep my same number and just had to restart my contract which i had no problem doing.
can anyone else back me on the thought that is has to also do with how long you have been with sprint that makes a difference on how much of a problem it is to swich? i personally have been with sprint coming on 8 years so i guess that might have something to do with it. all i told the rep was that i had a friend that works for sprint and he told me to call in asking about it and if i was eligable. the lady i spoke with just asked me right away which plan i wanted and in about 10 minutes my plan was changed. didn't ask me his name or anything. no issues at all. at this same time people were saying how much trouble they were having. some were with sprint for 6 months and some were with them as long as i was. some were getting it even after one contract was just ended (2-3 years). so that's my insite/2 cents.

You got a crappy ecare rep. What was their name?
Stephanie L. was the person who responded to my email. I'm going to keep trying both ecare and *2 for the next week. Should I use different emails accounts with ecare, or can I keep using the same one to try and get a more lenient rep?

Ok guys I'm out of contract today and decided to email ecare to see if I would be able to get on Sero and get a new phone. Here is what I wrote and what the reply was.
Question: A friend who works at Sprint told me about the SERO plan and I am interested in switching my plan to that plan. I'm out of contract and it would be a great way to keep me at Sprint. I am also looking to get new phones as well. The phone I'm interested in getting is the Katana DLX. Finally, I want to keep my same numbers. Please let me know if I can get onto the SERO plans as I see it shouldn't be a problem because others in my same situation have been able to switch with no problem.
Thank you for contacting Sprint. I will be happy to assist you regarding SERO Plan and Katana DLX phone.
I understand that you wish to change the service plan on the account to SERO Plan. Also, you wish to purchase Katana DLX phone. Let us see the concerns one by one.

he means employee referall email address pretty much. according to the "technicalities" you have to be referred to the sero plan through an employee. all i did actually is call *2 and somehow the CS rep knew what i was talking about and transferred me to the "employee Customer service" who in turn set up my sero plan. they actually didn't even ask me for the referral email account which i had but i didn't use. mine i see so far as being the least painless experience. do a search on here and find an "employee customer service" numberwhich has no hold time and if they ask how you got the nuimber (which they have asked me before ) just tell them that you were transferred to them through regular CS because you asked about the sero plan. they are actually the ones that set it/do any sero customer related trouble shooting. once you are on SERO you are actually serviced by employee CS which is way better than the regular CS. i hope that helps. good luck

I believe I am one of the lucky ones. I decided to send ecare a message last night simply stating some friends pay $30 a month for almost what we are getting at $120. My father worked for sprint for MANY years and we have been with PCS for 10+. I asked if we could switch to a SERO plan without any penalties. The very first reply was glady offering me a sero plan for each line at $30 if we simply extended our agreement :D
I asked for a list of everything included just to have it in writing, but will be accepting the offer tomorrow. The current plan for $120 is shared with 2000 minutes (grandfathered at $80, the rest are add ons) but really most are nights and weekends or mobile to mobile. With nights starting at 6pm and mobile to mobile free we can easily make due with 500 per.
They did tell me they wouldnt add our discounts (roughly 18%) but I will work on that at a later date. Its still saving a good 60-65 bucks a month!

If you have no issues such as still in contract, blah, blah, blah I wouldn't even waste my time on the phone or email with anyone.... Do it online as outlined in their stips and you'd have your phone at your door and plan in 2 days... plus you'd get an instant email confirming your application/order/approval/order number, and your tracking and shipping info and that everything's on record plus your shipping and tracking is all emailed to you. I just hate people who impose on your time and waste your time but would still go the route of too many complications when you're trying to tell them how really simple it is... Well, I guess some people don't have anything better to do than get alot on their plate and make simple things complicated. Their stipulations are all outlined on their site, now why would you go around wasting people's time when you'd rather do what you wanna do in the first place. Like I said in my earlier posts, some people have bragged about how they called cs, ecare, websales, telesales and got through, so really and truly you could do however way you want to do it, if you're a masochist and would rather wait on the phone and waste your time to talk to inefficient personnell and end up getting disappointed if you don't get what you want... Go for it...!!! My rule: My time is precious.... I don't want too much on my plate, and I LIKE TO KEEP IT SIMPLE...!!! AMEN!!!

Since you are out of contract, the absolute easierst way is to do the following steps:
1. Go buy a cheapo $20 phone (prepaid).
2. Port your current Sprint number to that phone.
3. Once the port has completed, go to www.sprint.com/sero and sign up for new service. In the sign-up process there is an option to port a number-port in the number that you previously ported out.
4. BAM - Sero service, promo pricing, and keep your number.

Here goes my story...
I activated Sprint back in May 2006 with my father, who has been a loyal Sprint customer since 1998. I heard about SERO a few months after activating and was saddened by the fact that it stated clearly, new accounts only. But that didn't deter me. I tried and tried. I called up Sprint starting in December 2006 and January 2007. After just a few phone calls stating I was friends with a Sprint employee (which I am not) and a few nasty customer service representatives, I finally was transferred to retentions (mind you, I didn't have this wonderful forum as a resource--I was doing this on my own and my knowledge of being a sales rep for T-Mobile and having to deal with customer care). They wound up creating a retentions plan for me but renewed my contract from January 2007 to January 2009 (2 year term). Understandable. The plan was created, so I had a ton of charges and a ton of credits:
$40.00 Free and Clear Plan 1000 Anytime Minutes
$5.00 Sprint Mobile-to-Mobile
$5.00 Nationwide Roaming and Long Distance
$5.00 Nights at 7pm Option
$5.00 300 Two-way SMS Text Messages
$10.00 EVDO Service
$7 Total Equipment Protection
Credits:
$5.00 Sprint Mobile-to-Mobile Credit
$5.00 Nationwide Roaming and Long Distance Credit
$5.00 Nights at 7pm Option Credit
$5.00 300 Two-way SMS Text Messages Credit
$10.00 EVDO Service Credit
- 18% Xerox Employee Discount
Brought my bill down to about $40-50ish depending on usage. Great plan, however, month after month I would get wrong bills because the credits would somehow disappear! Then my father got sick, he had a stroke, this past June. I had to simplify things in my life. I called up Sprint to see if I can just be transferred to the SERO plan. The first rep, started to, did a 3-way call and placed me on hold, as she came back she disconnected the lines. That was upsetting. I waited to see if she'd do a call-back (sometimes they do) and I never got anything after 10 minutes. I decided to call again and reached a nasty CSR who transferred me to a different rep who then transferred me to Employee Accounts. Employee accounts told me I could not do such a change that I'd have to call Retentions. At this point, it's almost 2.5 hours on the phone with all the wait and hold time I've experienced. I call again Customer Care, I reach an Elijah who had no idea what I was talking about but told him to ask, I've been on the phone for so long and I just want to resolve this issue and that the first CSR was in the process of doing it until I got disconnected. Since he had promised when he answered the call that he would be my last call to Sprint for the day. He set me up on the SERO 1250 (because I had the 1000 minutes before this). He seemed to be in a rush after the conversion, so I said thank you so much have a nice afternoon. I called back Customer Care and told the next lady, Monique, that Elijah was in a rush and I wanted her to just make sure he did everything right. She told me he forgot to take off the other added features and credits (Mobile-to-mobile, 300 text, nights at 7pm) so she took those off. She also mentioned that SERO comes with a 2 year contract renewal, I said wait he didn't tell me that he just did the change. She looked into that and said that he messed up the wrong code anyways and put me on a $0 Early Termination Fee with no contract (meaning I'm now a month-to-month customer even though my contract would've been still until January 2009)!!!! That was SWEET! She then told me she couldn't see if I still had the Xerox employee discount I should and would heavily advise me to wait until the next bill to see it because if I call up another CSR and they can see that it's there they may take it down because according to Sprint you should not be eligible for the NVP (Nationwide Volume Program) while on a SERO plan. I then was transferred to a different promotion representative when I asked for a 10% loyalty discount and that rep Dionne gave it to me. So now I'm a happy camper with the 1250 SERO plan with UNL txt and everything with (hopefully) the 18% Xerox discount and a 10% loyalty discount!!!
Good luck, and moral of the story, DO NOT GIVE UP! I've been doing this for 9 months! It takes time! But I finally got it and better than EVER!!!

For those that have a SERO plan:
What do you recommend as far as having 2 lines, 1 with BB service? I've been w/ Sprint since 1999 and signed a 2YR in Jan 2007 to get the discounts on my my Q.
My questions are:
Can I do SERO? Is it better to have SERO than what I have now?
Right now I have:
1400 F&F, Unlimited N&W, Mobile 2 Mobile, N & W at 7PM
Line 1: EVDO, 500 SMS, TEP
Line 2: 500 SMS, BB Service
Credits
Line 1:
$10 EVDO,
$8 SMS,
$1.50 Courtesy Dis.,
10% Sprint Employee Value Program
Line 2:
$20 Account Service Credit
25% NVP Discount
Total : ~$95 before taxes
Any help would be appreciated!

Keep things simple. Since you are out of contract, you are in no way migrating from an existing therefore all you really need is re-contracting to a SERO. If you need to retain your orig number, input it on the portability eligibility, it'll tell you immediately if it is portable, it should be, you have fulfilled your old contract. No need to spend $$$ on a prepaid plus the cost of the card then port later, too much complications involving more $$$. What about the waiting period (days) involved in porting back and forth?
Do it all online, in 2 days the device is at your door, activated and all set to use. If it came with a new number, call activation or cs to swap numbers, much like swapping ESNs, once activated with old number, deactivate old contract right then and there keeping same account number maintaining your tenure with Sprint for future loyalty concessions.

ecare jss email me back stating
Thank you for contacting Sprint.
In regards to your request, there are certain requirements that need to be met in order to be eligible for a SERO plan. They are as follows:
1) Have to be a friend or family member of a Sprint Employee, and the email address of the Sprint employee who is referring the you is required for employee verification
2) You will have to cancel your existing account and reactivate a brand new account. The SERO plans are for brand new activations only, this will result in Early Termination Fee of $200.00 per line plus applicable taxes as the contract dates on each phone are as follows:

I just thought about this after I set up my new account and thought maybe I had to have done it before I set it up. THanks guys.

That is how I did it. Wait to receive your new phone and activate it with the new number. Then transfer your old phone number to a pre-paid. Wait a day or two to be eligible (check on sprint web site to see if your number is eligible to be transfered to CDMA), then transfer it back to Sprint.
Very simple. I probably wasted $20 with the pre-paid, but well worth it. I did not want to argue with Sprint over and over to try to keep my number directly.

Check this web site, to know if you are eligible:
http://www.sprint.com/bringyournumber/
CDMA is the technology used by Sprint, iDEN is the one used by Nextel.
The pre-paid I used is Go-Phone. The cheapest phone was $20 and it was including $10 worth of min (Got it from RadioShack, better cust serv than AT&T in my area).

After about one month (since August 22) of unsuccessful attempts to get on SERO, I finally got a very nice lady that converted my account to SERO. I feel like responding to all those ecare Reps who lied to me that it cannot be possible. I fear that if I respond to those charlatans, then they might remove my SERO plan. What pissed me off is that I knew that the conversion is possible but they kept lying that it is not possible. Anyways, to anybody in such situation, please dont give up. Keep trying.

Then they asked if I had a sprint account already and i guess I should have said no but I figured if they asked they knew so I said yes. Then they go in this whole thing that I can't have this account because I can't have two accounts with Sprint and so forth. I thought everyone was able to sign up with Sero through the new account thing when they are out of contract. I'm out of contract so whats going on??? I hung up on the person because she was like you have to cancel this order and it will not go through and stuff. So what should I do call back some other time???? And why is it nextale sales and not sprint?

ok you know what I might have screwed up. I used my current cell phone number as the contact number when I signed up for the sero account. So is that why they know about it???? What do I do guys????

Ok that was a debaucle. I called the number again hoping they wouldn't notice that I already have an account and everything was fine. They were up to do the credit check and they say that I have an account since 2004. I tried to argue that it was out of contract but no dice. So I told them to go ahead and cancel the order. Now what sucks is they already took out the 150 bucks or so what so I have to wait for that to get credited. Also did they already do a credit check I think twice now? Doesn't that hurt my credit geez. So what do I do now guys. Do I just get the pre paid cell phone port my number over then try the sero plan again after my account has been cleared out?????? Also what the hell is this nextel sales??? Does everyone who signs up for Sero get they are now with the nextel network????? I got the Katana DLX if that makes any difference. Need HELP

Okay, let me post my current plan and get some thoughts.
I'm on a retention plan and am out of contract (for awhile, actually).
750 anytime minutes for $40
Sprint-to-Sprint for $5
Vision for $10
500 text messages for $8
Total: $63 + ~$10 taxes/month
I've checked my phone number and it says it can port over to SERO (weird, though, it says it's Nextel, but whatever).
I currently have a Treo 650 that I bought off eBay and activated in November 2005. Right now, I'd be eligible for a $75 upgrade credit.
Here's what I'd like to do with SERO since I'd like two different lines.
I want to go with the $50 SERO voice plan with a new Treo 755p AND get a broadband card with the SERO broadband plan.
Do I just go through the Web site or call? Is what I'd like to do possible?
Thanks.

You should all go back to the SERO site and read the GUIDELINES and STIPULATIONS clearly outlined on the page instead of having what I call The SERO ANXIETY. If you meet all stips, there is no reason you cannot do this online without help from anyone. Everything is self-explanatory. Just answer all the questions, input all your required personal info, THEN WAIT...! LEAVE WELL ENOUGH ALONE AND DON"T START CALLING AND EMAILING EVERYONE. Almost instantaneously, you'll get an answer: approval, disapproval or conditional approval advising you of whatever else is needed to complete your application. Once approved, you'd get an email confirmation,
then shipping and tracking info. When the device gets to your door, you have 30 days to test drive it, toy with it, and find all the quirks you might not like about it. If you don't like it, you still have a chance to either, exchange it, go for another device or cancel it. If you decide to keep it, then call porting department to port old number to new device. Once ported, cancel old FULFILLED CONTRACT. DON"T WASTE ANY MONEY PURCHASING AN EL CHEAPO PREPAID plus the card for the minutes and port your number in and out. FYI, it could take up to 45 days for the process to complete, whereas you could do it direct through SPRINT. It could take from 2 hours on, after porting, to 45 days, so it's no joke, why in the world would you wanna go that route?
Also, they know about your old accounts from your TIN, (Tax ID number or SS) not your contact phone number. The advantage? it adds to your tenure or continuity with Sprint
in terms of loyalty, and as a loyal customer, it gives you leverage for future concessions you might want to ask for. PRIORITY: GET ON THE PLAN FIRST. Once on the plan, you can do whatever the h*** you want to do or call whomever the h*** you wanna bug. Last resort is to contact ecare through the Sprint site (Contact us) or CS but only to straighten any kinks out that might come up.
Now children, get a hold of yourselves, and for your sake, avoid the SERO ANXIETY ATTACK...!!!
PS: FYI, Nextel merged with Sprint or vice/versa a while back...

Ok guys I did the sero plan through 800 number instead of the website. Now they added the sero plan as an addtional line to my account which is out of contract. I'm assuming once I get the new phone I will be able to port my old number from the old account to the new sero account. Or should I do the pre paid route??????? Questions galore.

Adjustable meaning if you go over, they adjust in blocks of....30 I think.
Texting won't show up there. In your "current usage" you will see a listing for texting if the rep added it on.

You're on the SERO $30/500 minute plan, it seems you are on the old billing system. You'd see the difference between your old plan on the old system, if you ordered online, you would've been on the new billing system and it would say F & F SERO listing Unlimited Texting but you'll see it on your USAGE in your account online. If you don't, you can always call/email to make sure it's on your account from hereon...

Hey, I just go the SERO plan! Well, it's not in effect until October, but that's only a few days away  !
Anyways, I have been a loyal Sprint customer for ~1.5 year. My contract would end in 5 months, which I have been looking forward to because I have been wanting to change my plans and upgrade my phone for a long time. But you have to wait 2 years to get the $150 rebate. My previous plan was a family shared plan, but because I was now going on the single route, I needed an individual plan. And that's when I heard about SERO from a friend of mines who works at Sprint.
I dialed *2 and got through to the Retention center. My 2nd line was canceled, but my first line was successfully transferred to the SERO plan, keeping my current number. And the weirdest part was that, the lady never asked me for my friend's e-mail!!!
But that's how I got my SERO plan. I haven't used it yet, but just from the looks of it, I'm pretty satisfied. The lady on Sprint customer care that helped me was really great. Their customer service is finally improving!

ecare jss email me back stating
Thank you for contacting Sprint.
In regards to your request, there are certain requirements that need to be met in order to be eligible for a SERO plan. They are as follows:
1) Have to be a friend or family member of a Sprint Employee, and the email address of the Sprint employee who is referring the you is required for employee verification
2) You will have to cancel your existing account and reactivate a brand new account. The SERO plans are for brand new activations only, this will result in Early Termination Fee of $200.00 per line plus applicable taxes as the contract dates on each phone are as follows:
It clearly sez no migration from an existing account... So, you have a sticky there... When does your old contract on the old line expire? Are you in the middle of it? If it's just a matter of a couple of months, it would be a good idea to wait instead of getting hit with an ETF...

i placed another order under my mothers account who i got in a sero plan last year or so. it said "order being processed" so i waited then it went to "pending notification of customer order cancellation" again. then they call my house early in the morning and my mother on her work phone. we miss the calls but call back later. i speak with a rep and she reads us the note attached we give them the rest of the further information and they said the order is going through the credit department and should be shipped out later tonight. i check the order status when i got home and it said "order in progress." this is from Wednesday to Friday night. my father had a heart attack later that night so i wasn't too worried about the phone but now its back to "pending order cancellation again." again i used savings@sprintemi.com to enter the portal and tristan.kime@sprint.com at the end or the form.
also i canceled my account but the said it will not go into effect until the 27th of the month for the billing cycle. so should i wait for my mothers account or should i wait for my account?? which i now have a legit friend who is a sprint employee that i finally got in touch with. i ordered a ppc mogul on the sero f&f 500

I want to get the SERO plan for my husband and a Mogul. Besides the discounts Sprint gives are there any other discounts off the Mogul phone? Can the Kellog's discount be combined with the $100 off Sprint mail-in-rebate? Also as you go through ordering the plan, it asks for a business/or corporate ID number. Does that mean the business discount is also available for the SERO plan? Do you think I should start the new line via live Sprint personel or should I go through the online option? Almost 2 years ago I started a SERO account for my mother and she has a corporate discount on her account(for approx 20% off the $30-legitimate), this was done by calling Sprint, not by using the internet option. Any advise would be appreciated. Thanks! ps he has a Sprint phone under our F&F plan right now, but it doesnt expire until November and I dont want to wait if there is additional discounts available on the Mogul, he doesnt mind changing his number and this plan would be under his name, not mine, where the other ones are under.

For anyone who is activating a new line of service and wants SERO: The easiest way to get it is to go to http://www.sprint.com/sero (if you haven't seen it listed here the other 1,000,000 times lol). If you don't know any sprint employees to get their email address from, then go to this website: http://networxcontract.sprint.com/fedreps.html -you can use any of the email addresses on this page to access the SERO website. A good word of advise: act fast. Once Sprint finds out that this page is being advertised, they will remove it in a hurry (or block SERO access from those addresses)! I hope someone finds this useful! :)

They're bringing up the existing account problem. So what's to stop me from simply canceling my service (out of contract for three years) and signing up with SERO then?
I'm on the line with Retention trying to work something out and all they've given me so far is a 10 percent discount.

Hey there. I have the same problem. I tired to sign up for sero online then I got a call that I have an exisiting account. So I cancelled that order then I looked around and see that I could add a line of sero to my existing account with a cell phone that is out of contract. Since you are out of contract order a new SERO line. Once you have it up and running cancel your current line.
You can optionally port out your existing number to a pre-paid phone and port it back into the SERO line. But get the SERO line first.

That's what I tried and when my SSN came up tied to an existing account, so they wouldn't let me do it.
So I canceled the order and called to the SERO line. They were willing to add the new lines to my existing account, and they said I could cancel the existing line once I get the SERO activated and it'd be good. They were quite helpful, actually. I'm just waiting for the funds to get back in my account before going at it again.

Here's the run down. I recently stumbled upon this thread and thought that it would be great to take advantage of a SERO plan. I have been with Sprint for many years and I'm currently using the MM A940. I wouldn't mind keeping this phone, but from what I've read am I correct in thinking that I would have to replace my phone to upgrade to the SERO plan?
I have already had the phone for 2+ years because I'm currently eligible for the 150.00 dollars off a new phone. My contract expires on 11/22/07, would I be better off waiting for the contract to expire or make an attempt at securing a SERO plan in the near future? Of course, like most, I'd like to keep my phone #.
I have read many different posts that elude to some being able to switch from a current contract to a SERO contract. Maybe I'm wrong in thinking that, but it does seem that there are some inconsistencies when dealing with Sprint CSR's. It also seems to me that you have more leverage when requesting SERO if your contract has expired.
I'm all ears for anyones advice and it's greatly appreaciated.

There is a first invoice discount of $50 if you input the code that intermittently changes every now and then, the last of which was "Urang".
Since this new SERO account is for your husband in his own name, on the web, input your cell number as the referrer for the Referral Program which would automatically generate another $25 in a Visa Rewards Debit card for each of you. If you forget to do so, once you get the device, he dials #777 and he will be prompted what to do, but you have to do it within the first 15 days of activation. Go to the Referral Page, check it out. Then, there's the Rebate Program, I think there is a $100 in the Mogul. Once you get the account set up, check with ecare on those other discounts. If they were in your Mom's name, I doubt it, and since SERO is already heavily discounted, but don't take my word for it, ask ecare. It sez online activation would save you the $36 activation fee and 2day air delvy, if you go through Telesales, point it out to them as well and make it clear you're not gonna be charged for them. Good Luck!

ok SU community. three failed attempts to get my sero plan.two of my own and one of my cousin. all the same reasons for denial because we have existing accounts. so we both canceled our currents accounts last week which they said should be cut off on the 27th. my question is should i wait until the 27th after paying off the bill to order the new phones or can i place the order earlier since it will most likely take a week for them to finalize the order. this time i have learned my lesson i will never let my sero discount again!! has any one recently checked how much your plan would be with out the sero plan or on other carriers ??? a wife in the cell phone business will be more coveted than a super model soon(that was a joke) depending on the modle
Sounds like you were denied because of your age, (under 20?) and I don't know about your income... but it has a lot to do also with the ability to pay (income and/or credit) at which point, they ask you to put down a deposit if you do not meet those standards. I don't think it has anything to do with your Mom's since you are using your own TIN. And like I said, your first app was flagged because you used Mom's CC. Plus, if you discontinue your own line from Mom's account, she'd be hit with ETFs galore... Have Mercy...!!!

Can't you port out the existing number over to the sero line instead of the pre paid route??? That way you could keep the account with the tenure you have with sprint????
I've done it a few times... so don't worry too much about it...!!!

Wait till 11/22... no migration from existing account to a SERO. SERO w/b around for a while, matter of fact, if you saw my posting yesterday, I announced that they've extended Unltd Texting to 12/31/2007. And why not take advantage of those upgraded phones? Apply your upgrade discount over and above the current price of the device, you've earned it. Then check out the mail-in rebates... Set up your SERO before discontinuing your old contract.

No go for me.
They're bringing up the existing account problem. So what's to stop me from simply canceling my service (out of contract for three years) and signing up with SERO then?
I'm on the line with Retention trying to work something out and all they've given me so far is a 10 percent discount.
Wow... that was absolutely unhelpful.
Take what they're giving you (10%? Ask for 20%, they might give you 15%, I got 20% and had them email me for proof later on in case of any dispute, which they forgot, they were giving me 15% off on the bill but I saved email that sez 20%) just stay on the account month to month without signing any contract for the old line, (Retention means, they'd wanna retain you as a customer for as long as they can keep you) Go online, do it yourself... you're out of contract on your old lines, no reason to be turned down... Make sure you've got the SERO, test-driven your new device (30 days) then discontinue old fulfilled contracts grandfathering your loyalty discount, then port old number to new line, same account. Tell them you only need 1 phone. End of story...

I'm playing around with the DLX, so far so good. However, is it just me or is this phone not loud??? I guess that has to do with the speaker in the back and all.
Now you know what I mean when and why I always say, don't do anything until you've test-driven the phone. and you're really sure about the device. (Same goes to Knucklehead) Today, we picked up my husband's 3rd device, although I saw a posting where it said, Sprint would only allow you 1 exchange and/or return. As telesales explained it, although the new SERO account was started 3 months ago, the account goes on, but the device starts a new life of its own. If the 1st is not satisfactory and he gets a new one, it starts a new 30day run, so if the 2nd was still not satisfactory and still is defective, the 3rd starts another 30 day run. Of course we cannot abuse it but they also realize that you'd have this device for 2 years and so you might as well get something that you won't be complaining about and not get stuck with for the next 2 years. Now, if this 3rd device works out better for him, he's porting his number and go on with his life... he's tired of the test-drives :hee::lol::p

i called on both occasions and my cousin has called on his order. the rep told me that it was canceled because we are existing sprint customers. i have my own account and my credit score and income is enough to open more than one line of service. me and my mother have separate accounts i only had one phone on my account in my name. so the etf should only be 200 dollars. a small price to pay for such a discounted service plan and phone.
should i could i order my phone today or should i wait until they completely terminate my account??

That's just it. I did go the online route and it was caught immediately. When I got on the phone with them, there was no way to send it through even when I said I wanted to cancel my existing line.
The only reason I ended up going to retention was because the guy who canceled my order said that telesales could find a plan similar to SERO that I could sign up for. I figured it was a tactic to get me off the line and I was right. It was as if I had called telesales on my own. When the rep looked at my account, she said, "I can't beat this," so she transfered me to retention.
I took the 10 percent discount, but even when I told them I wanted to add a second line and was willing to get into a contract to do so, she said there was nothing she could do but offer me less than the going rebate rates for the new equipment.
The SERO phone people were very helpful and after I explained my problem with the existing account, one of them said, "Well, why didn't they just convert your account to SERO and add a line?"
I asked two different SERO reps if it was possible to do that and they said yes and without any changes from the online route, so I'm going to try that next.

Thank you for the information; you’re definitely an asset to the SU community!
Do you recommend that I go the online route to setup the new service or call *2 to get it going? Also, I have 2 Sprint stores in my area. I would like to take advantage of any loyalty discounts – “Code Discounts” as well.
I’ve noticed that you recommend that everyone get the new service up and running before canceling their old line of service. Is this because it continues your tenure with Sprint thereby allowing one to receive discounts? I can understand this, but I guess my only problem would be the extra phone bill I would incur while trying out a new phone/service, while the old phone/service is pushed to the wayside and still being charged for it. Of course I suppose this also puts your original phone # on hold so that you can later port it over to the new line. Or is it as easy as 1 2 3? I get the new phone/service and call Sprint to have the # ported and then cancel the old line? If I go that route do I loose the ability to do certain things such as the "Try Before You Buy" 30 day grace period? I hope I didn't confuse you with some of these seemingly silly questions of mine. Thanks again for your input!!!!!

My contract will expire next month. I currently on a retention plan with 1000 ATM, 7pm n/w for $40 with 25% corp discount. I'm planning to switch to the SERO 1250 ATM for $50.
1. Is it better to call in retention or ecare?
2. How hard to keep my 25% corp discount on the SERO plan?
3. Also attempting to get loyality discount if possible
4. 6pm free would be great but no biggie if i dont get it
separately, I just got a flyer saying if i renew a 2-yr i would get 30% off on my monthly as well. Suggestion?
My first attempt to get on SERO w/ 25% corp discount via ecare3 failed.

I feel bad for existing customers who are unable to get SERO but when you really think about it, it makes sense to just pay the ETF. If you port your number out to pre-paid, pay the ETF, sign up for a new SERO account and port your number back over, you'll probably make up the ETF within a few months of being on SERO.

yea that does sound reasonable if you think about it, then again alot of people dont have that initial money to spend to do all that. like in my case, money has been a bit tight lately so i wouldnt be able to afford 200 bux to cancel and then buy a prepaid phone. but your reasoning is good in that aspect.

YOU chances of getting a SERO plan with a corporate or loyalty discount is going to be slim to nil. The chances of you getting a SERO plan with both a corporate and loyalty discount is zero. I'll just come out and say it. It's not going to happen. I have not seen 6 PM nights given out for free for quite a long time.

It's best to use your 30-day... that way, you get to know the phone and before you commit to it, (not just the phone but the entire plan) aside from all the above-mentioned reason you enumerated. Believe me when I tell you that a SERO plan initiated in July was just finally completed 2 days ago, after 3 different devices. And to think that I couldn't let go of the old number I hung onto the last 7-8 years. I still have it, just recently ported onto the last device that I decided to keep. Like I posted before, every time I expressed concern with telesales regarding exhausting the 30days, they assured me that the way it works, everytime I am sent a new device, it starts a new life of its won. A new cycle is generated. Didn't have to worry about the rebate since I didn't meet the min $34.99 plan anyway, so there. Those three devices each had new numbers but I had the choice to keep the old number and I did the last swap at a Sprint store. And although they gave me a brand new receipt, the plan was extended another 30 days accordingly which is no big deal, it's a keeper anyway and at least I know that I'd have the SEROs on all my devices. Also, when you mention cancelling your older out-of-contract plans, is when they throw in more unexpected un-asked for perks and that's the negotiating leverage I always spoke of. In the end, they realize, they're not losing you as loyal customers, just taking advantage of their occasional promotions and thus, the importance of the continuance of your tenure in loyalty. You don't have to go through 3 devices if you don't want to pay for your older OOC plans anymore, just a matter of practicality and being an educated consumer, I find the 30 days ample time if nothing is wrong with your chosen device.
And BTW, thanks :ty: for the good word re: being an ASSet ;) to the SU community.

PS: Yes, initiate it online, then take it from there. One way or another, you'd hear from either CSs or ecare should other issues come up. Like I said on my last posting I ended up culminating the process at a Sprint store. And new perks generated were applied to the older SEROs along with all the grandfathered discounts of the past, not to overwhelm the newest SERO contract reducing it to almost nothing.

You failed to mention how long you've been with Sprint to warrant any discount or any perks. If you could give yourself more time to be recognized as a loyal customer, you have more chances of earning the privilege to some perks. You must give them a reason to award you some of these perks. If you're a happy camper and in a rush to close the older OOC plan and to port your number immediately, what reason do you think they'd have to grant you any upgrade or discounts, not withstanding the fact that since the SERO is heavily discounted, you are liable to get a "NO" for an answer? Think about it. If you took advantage of your 30 days, a lot of things could come up that you could raise with CS or ecare to give you some kind of a leverage. I got my 6PM applied to the older SERO to expire early next year as a concession to resolve a past problem. The loyalty discount was from being with Sprint as a loyal always-on-time paying customer. I am not associated with a businesss or a corp that does business with Sprint so I don't qualify for any corporate discount, are you? Unless you are, and you have to come up with proofs to those claims such as your business email address or confirmation from your supervisor, they just don't throw employee discounts to anyone who asks. It takes quite more than that. I always said, you have to be your own advocate but it takes work. If you still feel you don't need to take advantage of your 30day and just want to port your number immediately, just dial *2 and say "representative", they'd direct you to the right department. As for me, I'd rather be an educated consumer and use all the resources available to me.

Well, I have been with Sprint for the past 4 years now. I already have the 15 percent employee discount but that is on my OOC phone. I guess I was thinking since that sero is a new line activation it might not be eligible and also it is already heavily discounted. I guess my hurry to port my number over from the OOC to the sero line is because frankly I just don't want to be paying for two lines, you know what I mean haha. One line is plenty and thats all I need. So other then that I think I have all the perks even though I haven't gone the full 30 days. Pretty much thats the main reason for me to hurry the port, don't want to pay for two.

Yeesh.
I must have rubbed the bad luck before I called Sprint. Finally calling again to try and get on the SERO plan and they tell me my account is past due (I paid my October bill on Sept. 17).
Here comes the waiting...
Oh, ***!
They're migrating my account and I won't be able to get anything done to my account until October 12th.
I've asked them about the text messaging deal that expires tomorrow and the rep is placing a note on my account to give me the UNL text when I call back.
Sigh. I really do need that broadband card.

Well finally got the Muziq with a current Family plan, shipping was fast, just hell of a time trying to get it to SERO after it came with a basic 200 min plan.(I heard people saying Sprint CS was bad, and I thought they were wrong, up until this experience.) A nice guy finally got things straight and the SERO line should start next billing period. Whew.:headbang2

I am a long time Sprint customer (7 or 8 years) and I have an old free & clear family plan that is out of contract.
$85 PCS Free & Clear Plan
Minutes Are Shared On This Plan
All Minutes Include Long Distance
2000 Anytime Minutes
Unlimited PCS to PCS Calling
Lately my phone (Treo 650) is getting flakey and Sprint has been charging me for stuff on my wife's phone (shared line) that is supposed to be included in the plan (internet usage, text messaging, picturemail etc.)
I want to get a new phone (Palm Centro) and because it uses the new network, I think I need to change my plan.
I was thinking of getting the SERO 500 minute plan for each of us (neither she nor I have broken 300 minutes in a month). I need unlimited text (or a minimum of 500) plus unlimited data (I am using goodlink). I would like free roaming and maybe, but not a deal breaker, phone as modem. My wife can use a more moderate plan.
Does this make sense? Can I get SERO without canceling my current plan? Can I move my number to a new phone & plan (or do I need to do the "burner" phone porting thing?)
If I have to port to the burner, do I buy the Centro after the switch or before? Either way, do I give up my upgrade credit?
It looks like the plan has evolved over time and I am kind of confused as to what is currently available. I was under the impression that if your contract expired, you could get in on the deal with your current phone number. Perhaps this has changed.
Thanks in advance,
-Sean

Well guys, after quietly observing from afar, I decided to finally come out and say thank you for all of your help. As of about a month ago i'm the proud user of the SERO 1250 plan. After my two year contract was coming to a close in late July I decided to start trying to switch. I called several times and they said I would be unable to because of my current account. That all changed when I got a hold of a legit sprint employee email account. I called CS and told them I was having trouble signing up for SERO on the website and asked if they wouldn't mind walking me through the process over the phone. I made sure to mention the email address. They happily assisted me and lo and behold I am enjoying the many benefits that sprint has to offer! Thanks again and I hope your attempts reap a fruitful outcome.

Congratulations! :tu: :waycool: Remember, you have 30 days with your new MUZIQ so I wouldn't jump to any conclusions that fast, anything could come up between now and then... How long has your family been with Sprint? That's a very important question. Next, what kind of a family plan did they put you on and what SERO Plan are you on now? Keep me posted...

I added a new line of Service August 12, 2007. I was told by the Sero people that I had to cancel my line and return my phone in order to get Sero. Well I had lost the back to the phone on the last day that I could return the phone so I said oh well. I emailed ecare last week and asked them if I could get Sero and the rep told me that he would get back to me. He emailed me right back and said it was done and all I needed to do was confirm the change. and I did.

Dear to whom it may concern,
I got a line added August 12, 2007. I've tried to get Sero for this line but I'm unable to get this because they want me to pay $10 for the phone via charge card and then have it credited to my account. The thing is I no longer have a debit card. Is there anyway for me to be able to get Sero. I would like to get the Sero 500 minute plan for $30. I have the Sprint referral email which is Sprint.Rep@sprint.com . They number I would like to make a Sero line is 804-555-5555. My name is Goodgyrl, my address is 12325 Anywhere Dr. Everywhere, va 12345. I would be soooooooo greatful if you could do this for me.
Hello,
Thank you for your reply.
I understand that you wish to add the sero plan on the #5555 on the account.
I request you to please reply to me with the confirmation that I will change the plan on #5555 effective September 12, 2007. I assure you that I wil change it as per your request.
Thank you for contacting us. Please feel free to write back if you have any other questions. Have a great day!
