Can someone answer a few quick questions for me...

My current plan is - 20$ - 3000anytime - 1000NW - 9pm - 50$download credit - 5$ 300+50 text - PV - 20$ credit option - 7$TEC

My wifes plan is the powerpack 450 with a 23% discount and 5$ 300 text, no PV

If I were lucky enough to switch her plan to the 30$ 500 SERO, would it be possible for that rep... assuming she/he was incredibly nice .... to add the Unl texting / 7pm nights to my plan as well?

I notice that the current SERO plan has unlimited texting available until 6/30/07 using the openaccess10@sprint.com email, and would like to know if it would be interchangeable between my 3rd party employee plan and a SERO plan??

Also, I am in iPCS, so I am not lucky enough to have free roaming...................

I was planning on getting the Sero plan with the Motto Q phone. If I go through the sero website, the phone is 79.99.

I saw the same phone on ebay for basically free if you sign a two year deal.

Here is my question. Would it be possible for me to sign up through the rep on ebay and then switch the plan to Sero as soon as I recieve the phones?

Thanks for your help!

Possible, from the sounds of all the threads I have read.. YES.

Do you have the patience of waiting and calling to get a CSR who will do it for you, that one is up to you...

Do not do that, the sellers have a restrictions on SERO plans, you have to wait atleast 6 months depending on the seller, the reason the phone is free because they make money on new lines and put that money towards the phone, the phone will ship directly from Sprint and not the seller. And if you do switch ealier you will be charged full price for the phones.

BTW-- I purchased 4 phones from them already

I just want to make sure and double check with all you sprint gurus...
if I bought a phone on may 20, 07.. is it too late to return the phone, cuz' I want to get sero, but wanted some inputs on how to get sero with the phone already added as a third line? would i have to return the phone and get a new activation online? would there be any problems on returning the phone and then buying the phone online as my third line so quickly after returning the one i have now??
any advice would be GREATLY appreciated!

thanks,

FFighterNo it's not to late to return your phone to the store. If you're thinking about canceling the line you'll have to pay for the minutes that you've already used. I was told by Sprint if I canceled my account I would have to wait 2-3 months before I could add my line back. There is a chance since you're in your 30 days that you can get Sero added. I got Sero added 27 days into my 30 days. BTW welcome. :tu:

U already have the phone right? Try regular customer service. What you can do is when you call before you give them you number and the rep asks how she or he may help you ask them if they know about Sero. If they say no then hang up. Try again. If the rep tells you that you need to cancel your line then I'd call account services. If u can't get it through them then I'd go ahead and cancel the line(but only after finding out if you could cancel and reopen right away) and add the new line with the new phone.

Good work.

After reading the posts here on SU for a couple of days and several attempts made at getting the SERO plan was unsucessful. I thought I'd share my story to everyone who have tried and got the plan.

I attempted to get SERO my first time by calling the 888 number on the SERO website but got a person who ran the credit check and said I have maxed out my lines. I currently have 5 lines on the 2100 Power Pack.

In response to that, I called CS by pressing *2 on my phone hoping they would convert my lines of service over since the accounts are a little over two months old. Attempts were unsucessful to the CS after enduring lengthy hold times numerously. But I did get mixed results from the CSR's. All were aware of the plan though. One that got my attention was that the Sprint Employee would have to call and refer me. Can anyone here confirm that, maybe the protocols for getting on a SERO plan has changed?

Well, all of my attempts were unsucessful and I thought I would like to share with you guys. However, I have the urge to signup for a Nextel SERO 500 since that option is available through their website process and switch to the Sprint SERO 500 next time citing that I get dropped calls frequently on Nextel. Does anyone here think that this will work? I am not sure if I can switch over from a Nextel SERO to Sprint SERO without an ETF and speculating whether I will be given a SERO plan upon switching to Sprint without having to cancel and setting up a total new line since I have read among SU that sprint cannot migrate numbers.

Any help is greatly appreciated as I would like to jump on the SERO wagon which seems that a great majority of you all have and are enjoying.

Thanks!!! :scare:

Retentions is your best friend if you want to migrate existing lines to SERO. They didn't question me when I asked for my line to go to SERO 1250.

dethl,

Thanks for your input! I am very inclined to try retentions and will call their number I got on the SL forum at work tomorrow.

Considering that I have been a SPCS customer for a little over two months and not a long term customer, will retention really help me out?

I am a little lost here but very inclined to call retentions but I am going to be speechless when on the phone with them. I do not see how I can negotiate with them since I am a new customer and saw how many CSRs and the Employee accounts say no after so many calls. I actually had to call in to CS *2 and said I got DC with the last rep and ask the new CSR to look for notes about the last call about a TEP, :) just to verify they didnt note me on wanting a SERO plan. So far I am in luck but I do not want to push it and I really want to get on the SERO plan.

I am really lost in asking retentions to upgrade me to SERO 500 for all five lines since they will actually make $200/line if i threaten to cancel now. Please help if you can fellow SUers. Dethl, you help and continued help with my attempt to onto a SERO plan is greatly appreciated!

Thanks everyone!

Thanks everyone!

My contract renewed at the beginning of the year (split off from my mother's account) so it made me look like a brand new customer. Before my first month I was on a 1000/$40 plan with 500 texts and $5 vision. A few months later, as soon as I found out that SERO was going to get free unlimited texting I gave Retentions a call and now am on SERO. So yeah, a few months isn't going to make a difference. Sprint is trying to prevent churn and with the Qualcomm chipset ban Sprint is going to hurt in the near future.

woohoo! just got my two lines signed up with sero! only took like a billion tries. lol. it's annoying how half of the customer service people dont even know what the plan is...

just to verify, i had to sign up for two $30 plans, one for each line, because they said i couldn't share minutes with sero... is that right? or did she just not know what she was talking about?

You were on a $40/1000 minute plan? How did you manage to get that and the $5 vision before your first month? What did you say to retentions lol?

When I call retentions tomorrow morning, I may not know what to say to "work" their system. How did you persuade them into switching you over? Did you threaten to cancel?

I would certainly like to trade places with you. Every CSR from the *2 function on my phone know what the SERO plan is and all abide by the rules. I'd rather get one that dont know the rules and just switch all my lines over. What number did you call to get the that CS dept.?

Were you switching your current sprint/nextel lines to sprint or activated new lines?

i was switching my existing sprint in contract lines to Sero. The people i got that didnt know anything about it just refused to do anything, and transfered me around in circles. I finally found someone who knew what it was, and they were happy to give it to me. All you say is you were referred to Sero, and you have a employee email address if they need it. (they never even have me give the address though).

good luck!

oh and yes, i just called *2. just be friendly and patient and eventually someone will give it to you. lol

and when they say they cant give it to you... just tell them ur friend (the employee) said all you need is their email address and you can get the plan...

I told them I was going to move to T-Mobile. Since I was able to get a note onto my account that I could cancel without ETF Sprint took my threat seriously and gave me an offer I couldn't refuse.

HOORAY....Finally got on sero and it only took calling everyday for two weeks. Thanks to all who posted in here when they got the plan...it kept me from giving up
Two tips......get login id's from every rep you talk to...even the ones who pass you on to ensemble..I had over a dozen......! I also had sent emails to ecare.....when you do get a helpful one..have the notate the account all over. And make sure you have that email address handy because they all asked me for it even though a rep had already put it in the account.
Also if you have ebilling check you subscriber agreement expiration date. Mine had expired over two months ago according to the website. One rep tried to argue but once he saw I had ebilling he got quiet and started talking to the floor manager.
Be a good sport.....and be patient...it took three phone calls this morning to get me set up oh and call first thing in the morning if possible on the weekend. They have a litttle more leeway in their ability to do right by the customer.
Since the expiration date meant I was out of contract they also offered me a new phone to go along with the plan. ( I had told the rep that I would rather have a cheap plan than an expensive phone)
Ok I just checked the sprint website for my plan and it's showing as employee f&f adv 500 for 15$...my phone says that same thing.....is sero and this the same? They did have trouble finding codes this morning for the ensemble system. (also have the old system code to give them, because that proves that you do know what you are talking about)
I have been talking up this site to my whole family...now..they believe
Ok to sum up this long post
the 3 p's Patience, Politeness, and Preparation.....That's what worked for me! If someone could answer the F&f question I would appreciate it!

F&F adv for $15 or for $30? SERO is supposed to be a $30 plan, $15 sounds like another plan. Does it list 7pm nights and unlimited Internet?

I wonder if its a SWAC plan

Dan...I can't see anything else on it but the sprin emp adv 500 for 15. It shows readylink and something else as being included..I checked my PV on the phone and it's 0 dollars to subscribe to. What is the SwAC? Never heard of that one.
Oh and on another thread a guy mentioned his sero says 1250 F&f 50.00!
I am wondering what time my nights start.....7 or 9 pm! Also I wanted to get the free txt but the rep didnt want to take the 500 off because she hadn't found the correct coding. And she was also ordering my phone. We shall see.....any plan that keeps me under forty bucks with at least 350-400 minuts is alright by me....!

I've had my plan for almost a year, my girlfriend wanted one so I called them today @ 888-882-4030 , that's the number they give you when you put in a valid email address on sprint.com/sero.

Don't ask how how I got around using a male voice lol. But the point is I called in and they gave her the 500 plan no questions asked, didn't ask for the email address of the sprint employee either.

WOW!!!

After about an hour or two of research, I was able to switch my existing plan to the SERO $99 plan without a hitch. My contract was set to expire in August. This is how I did it.

I called this sprint customer retention number : 866-881-9571 (Often NO HOLD TIME!)

I told them that my contract was due to expire in August and that I wanted to switch to the $99 SERO plan.

I ordered a Treo 755p and used my $150 rebate and the $100 discount to get the phone for $329.99. The $279 price listed at the Sprint SERO website is for new customers only. I will make the $50 back within 2 months at the new SERO rate. No big deal!

It was smooth as silk.

I had a second line on my plan for my Grandparents and just switched it over to a SERO $30 a month plan and I am still way ahead of the game. Make sure that your phone works with PCS VISION otherwise you will have to order a new phone that has an IP address for the SERO switch to work. I had to do this for my Grandparents. Since the contract was already up on their line, the new phone was free.

GOOD LUCK OUT THERE!!!!

-Nate

If you had waited til August you could have gotten that Treo at new customer pricing. Some reps give it to you anyway without having an expired contract.

Good for you Avo.....Makes me wonder if the best CSR's move to retention. Because it's pretty rough if you call the *2 number for regular sprint service never mind trying to get other stuff. My sister spent an hour on hold yesterday and this morning asked me what number I was calling...I gave her one customer service (non-retention number) I had seen on this site. She said the phone was answered after two rings!

Sometimes I think it would be easier for folks with SERO lines to add-a-line and then do a Transfer of Liability to the folks on here who want it.

Correct me if I am wrong, but isn't the ADV (advantage club), the sprint employee plan. Not the referral, but the actual plan that sprint employees' close circle of friends can get in on. I remember hearing about it sometime. If I remember correctly, it is $15 for 500 minutes, and it includes like EVERYTHING. Free TXT, Free Data, Free Downloads, Free Telenav, Free TV, etc. Again, I don't know for sure but I remember seeing it somewhere else. If others can shed light on it, please let us know. Thanks.

Hello guys,

I'm a long time lurker and I thought I have to finally ask a question since I've been keeping up with this SERO thing and I thought emailing ecare was the first thing I should try.

I got a reply and it said:

"Due to certain limitations, I cannot directly assist you to put the SERO Plan on your account. But I can definitely assist you in taking up this plan.

I request you to please see the Inphonic website ( www.sprint.com/SERO ). This site will guide you to take up the SERO Plan.

This plan will also require the cancellation of the existing plan. In this process, the cancellation fee, that will be charged on the account will be waived off as I have put a high priority notes on the account explaining your case. "

Now is this a good route to go, such as porting my number to a prepaid phone. Getting SERO and then porting my number back. Or should i try *2 a few times. Thanks in advance.

P.S. I just bought a Motorola Q since my last phone A920(Which you guys helped me a lot on) was lost and I really don't want to get a new phone.

Wow, if that is actually true, then that's awesome! In that case, porting to a prepaid, then back to Sprint on the SERO line would work. Still, I would give CS a call and verify that you won't be charged the ETF, should you cancel your contract.

I'm definitely interested to see how you situation pans out! Good luck! :tu:

I finally got ontio SERO. I've been out of contract since december. I put an order through inphonic back at the end of February, but it never went through. Inphoincs kept showing a balance due, and maybe a credit issue. I called sprint, no balance due and they upped my credit limit to $500 and approved me for two additional lines, despite dozens of calls to inphonic and sprint, it never went through, I even had emails from ecare verifying that I was ok for more lines. I never got anyone willing to change my account to a sero account. I had originally opted for a razr, but have decided that they are too flimsy, and settled on the Sanyo M1($350 - $150 discount, then a $100 rebate to be submitted - I hate rebates but wanted the phone). I started to freak after they took it off the site, and my phone was run over by a lawnmower this weekend so I figured it was time to try again. I still couldn't get anyone to switch my line, so I added an additional line. I have a throwaway phone I bought at walmart for $15 . How do I work the porting to the throwaway carrier and back to sprint?

Should I wait until I get the M1 and then port my number off of sprint and then back to the M1 line? Do I need to leave a buffer time between ports? Am I ok to go ahead and port now before I get the new phone and then just port when I activate? I have a corp discount on my account right now, I'm hoping it will hit the sero line but if it doesn't I can live with that. Just looking for advice from others who had to deal with porting their number outside of sprint and back to sprint.

Thanks

Haha. Sometimes you have to lie, after 3 times threatening to cancel and getting retention add ons they kinda realize you aren't going to cancel...

I tried with retentions this evening and the rep was willing to upgrade my existing line to SERO. She put me on hold for a bit but came back and said that she had gone up two levels and was told they're no longer making exceptions for existing lines. As with anything though, it probably depends who you get.

She offered me the PV Access pack for $10 and free 500 texts with a one-time $25 credit, which was very nice. I've been with Sprint since '03 but just started a new contract last week, so my leverage might not be all that great. But I didn't want to be greedy.

Do ya'll people realize when ya'll call Retentions to cancel that it's notated in your account. And like you just said they eventually realize you are going to cancel and then when you call and see that you've called to retentions talking about canceling 3+ times in less than 2 months then they're gonna eventually say ok there's nothing else I can do for you since you've gotten "x" amount of credits? People like this really make it bad for the people that are really having issuses with Sprint :irked:  :deal:

Definitely me being out of contract was a big factor. Once I knew to tell them that.
One rep said that SERO isn't even showing up right now on the system and he's ensemble trained. Also I had other issues going such a number porting initlally when dealing with them and they could see the notes. At one point they offered me a new phone and I told them no, I'd rather get the plan situation straight. In the end they ordered me a phone anyway for free.
Oh and the adv plan only has power vision with picure mail no tv included. It also had 7n/w and everything else including unl txt messaging. I called yesterday to get my tracking number and the rep was like " How did you get this plan?" I told her "idk, read the notes cause they didn't tell me they just did it!" She said that they notated the account also when the store called on my behalf. Oh and there was a note that I was pleasant customer to serve...from more than one rep.....so it seems like politeness and patience pays...(oh no I sound like my mom! ACK!)

Well I tried calling once so far. I got someone who did not know about SERO much so he looked it up. They told me I had to go through the website but I pushed a little and asked him if he could help me since the website just had a phone number to call. He asked a supervisor. He said everything was ready to go and he could help me but that the ETF charge would have to be paid. I asked him what about what the ecare rep told me about noting the account to have the EFT waived and he said it looked like it had not posted to the account yet. I got the email at 11:30 am and made the call around 10 at night, does that sound right? I pushed a little more and he said he would note the account in such a way that the next time I called his notes and the ecare reps notes would take care of everything for setting me up.

I had a nice conversation with him but did I push too far? Should I have just hung up and tried again? What's with the 20 min hold everytime I call?

Little help. Thanks.

Sprint can technically terminate your service if they feel you are abusing their reps.

I'd bet most calls are noted with something like "customer called about SERO plan and was told ineligible" or "customer called again inquiring about SERO and was told again ineligible"

Calling a couple times in a month is reasonable, calling excessive times in one day is just asking to get a letter from sprint with

"Your calls to customer care have been deemed to be abusive. As such, we are terminating your service as of XX/XX/XXXX. As of this date your account will be closed and a final bill will be generated. Please note that your service is being terminated due to your breach of the agreement, therefore the ETF of $200 will be applied to your final bill."

I can recall a few members on here that have complained that sprint informed them that they were no longer wanted as customers due to abusing customer care. Be smart about your frequency of calls and don't risk angering the "sprint gods!"

Dear XXXX,

Thank you for contacting Sprint together with Nextel. I will be happy
to assist you regarding the night and weekend minutes, sero accounts and unlimited text messaging.

Our records indicate that you have made several requests to have both options added to your account for no charge, as well as have your account switched over to our sero accounts.

The 6pm nights option is available for an additional $10.00 per month
The unlimited text messaging option is available for an additional $15.00 per month.

These options are not available to you for free, nor any other feature that Sprint may offer free to loyal customers.

This has been stated and restated in prior communications.

Your account status has been reset to "new".
You no longer qualify for the 5 dollar off discount per month promotion and it has been removed.
You no longer qualify for the 15% loyalty discount and it has been removed.
PCS to PCS will now cost $5.00 per month.

Your account has been notated regarding your ineligibility to qualify for sero.
Your account has been notated of all changes and documented email logs are available to the representatives, supervisors, and managers should they decide to review them.

Thank you for contacting us. Have a great day!

I'd love to know how abusive that customer was to have all of his perks yanked like that!

Thats what can happen though to you if you annoy the company. You signed an agreement to have service for 24 months and in exchange you likely bought a phone at a nice discount.

I had to call retentions tonight to get a tracking number on my replacement phone. I was thanked for being a long term customer "I see that you have been with us a LONG time sir!" I was also thanked for being a high valued customer " I see that you used to have the $100 a month plan for 2000 minutes, we have certainly made alot of money off of you."

Because of my status, I could likely ask for something like free 6pm nights and get it. I might be able to call up and ask if I could convert my account to 4 SERO 500 plans and be told "sure!"

Some members on here wont be happy until sprint is paying their bill! I often times joke with the reps about some requests they must get and want to laugh right at the customer.

The easiest way to go about your requests when you call sprint for something is "If I owned this company, would I want my rep's giving away my money to every new customer who asks?" Some people just push the limit too far, and they get burned.

Dan....you are absolutely right on! Most of the time when I've had to call recently, SERO was a secondary issue. Once they noted they account to change me over to sero...it was the primary issue. But a brand new customer attempting to get sero numerous times....I would think they would start noting the account at that point. I will say what I have noticed is that lots of reps don't note the account so when the account is noted negatively/positively it carries more weight with the next guy down the line. Also some reps don't read the notes back to you unless you ask.

With sprint you have some "golden" times to call and ask about things. In the 1st 30 days of your contract is one of them, as is the last month or 2 of your contract.

In the 1st 30 days, sprint knows you can walk and will try to keep you, within reason.

In the last 2 months, you are at a point where your getting close to that danger area.......... a customer out of contract! They again will work with you, within reason, to keep you a sprint customer.

Between those times, you have as contract to sprint and anything they choose to give you is something you should be grateful for, not complaining about what your friend has. The woman at retentions said to me today "not many customers qualify for a plan like yours, and its because we really value you that you have gotten such a great plan."

The moral of the story is to set reasonable goals, and not push too hard. Call because you have something important to clarify or discuss, and then inquire about if ______ might be available for you. If the rep says no, be polite and thank them for their time and hang up.

I didn't give them my information and called from my work line...not my cell. I called up a CSR and when they asked me for my number i just told them i had a question about plans. When they said they couldn't do it i ended the call in a polite manner and called back.

I tried (again) to talk someone into the SERO plans, but it's just not working, I think they must really be cracking down. Instead I got her to give me $10 credit each month toward the Vision plan so now I just pay $5 a month for it and I also got 500 free text messages on both of my lines. She also said that when I get a Vision enabled phone on my other line in October that they would "supposedly" add Vision to it for free. I also get a %15 military discount.

Not too bad, all in all I'm fairly happy

Correct me if I am wrong, but you can still back out of your newly signed contract right (because it is still under the 30 day limit)? If so, you could try the route of adding a NEW line, which would be on SERO, and then porting your old sprint number onto the new SERO line. Granted this is a bit unorthodox, but it could work. When you call in next time to try and get SERO and they shoot you down, simply ask them about that option. Good Luck.

I was able to get the SERO plan. It took several hours of trying but I finally was able to get it. I actually had a real referral but the rep never even asked for it. I went through 7 people, got transferred several times, got disconnected at least 4 times, and ended up with Employee Customer Service. My problem wasn't that I was told no, it was that either I was told it couldn't be done from there (and they would transfer me somewhere) or they didn't know what I was talking about. All the reps were friendly and, although it was frustrating at times, it was not a bad experience. I kept my current phone numbers too. It probably doesn't hurt that I was not under a current contract and have been with Sprint in excess of 7 years. The rep that switched me over couldn't have been nicer.

Wow. I had probably the best customer experience I've ever had on the phone. I called *2 and asked for "customer service" -> "Other support". In 30 seconds I got a Rep (American). I verified my account info and politely explained my problem (http://www.sprintusers.com/forum/showthread.php?t=134529) to her that I wanted to add a new phone to my account but because I have an old Retention plan, I could not add a new phone unless I switched plans. And I told her that I emailed e-care and asked about SERO (my friend does actually work for sprint) and asked if they could help me switch to SERO so that my monthly plan would be about the same. And so I told her that they told me to call into Customer Service to get that set up as they needed more information from me.

After I explained that, the CS looked up the SERO accounts for me and verified which SERO plan I wanted. I asked for both of my phones to be switched to the $30/500 min plans. She had no qualms about that and began setting it up for me. She said my first line transferred fine (even tho it does have a contract). The second line said that it would have an ETF fee of $200 and require a new 2 year agreement. I told her that the ecare rep never mentioned an ETF fee and she put me on hold for a minute and then came back and said that the fee was waived but I still need to sign up for a 2 year agreement. I said that was fine so long as there was no fee. After she was all done she was very good about going over all the changes. I also asked if my 10% loyalty and 5% credit union discounts were still there. She said that they should be as she didn't touch or change any of that, just switched the plans. I didn't have to change my existing numbers.

Then she transferred me to an Activation Rep to activate the 3rd phone with a SERO plan as well. I believe she was from india, I didn't ask but she had a slightly more "cute" voice than the normal older reps from india I've talked to, and a slightly different accent. She was extremely friendly and told anecdotes that made us both laugh and we talked about how she likes her job helping nice customers like me and she started to ask personal questions like if I was married and where i'm from. I was fine with answering them even though she probably isn't supposed to ask that. But she was very nice.

The only problem was that it seemed to take the first person about 40 min to change my plans and it took the activation girl over an hour because she was having system problems I guess. But she was so nice that I didn't let it bother me.

I was checking my account at Sprint.com online and could see the changes taking affect as the phones were switched. It shows everything except that I don't see unlimited text messages, and it looks like my plan still has the $20 PV pack and $5 for 7pm N/W as options on my account. Maybe they will fall off tomorrrow... or i will just ask ecare to take off those options and add on my unlimited messages.

All it all it was a great and almost too easy experience! The second girl asked if a Sprint employee referred me and I said yes and thats all she asked, never did I even need to give the email of my friend that works there. I got exactly what I wanted :) (And hopefully my discounts stay!)

That almost sounds more like the rep confused the SERO plan with the Sprint Advantage Club or something to that effect. Basically, it is possible to get onto the Sprint Employees special circle, which gets you I believe everything that SERO gives for about $15. SERO does NOT require the actual employee to "vouch" for you or anything. Try calling again. But call Employee Accounts at 1-866-250-2221 and try it from their.

Well anytime is OK really, but I have noticed that if you call around that time, you get people who are getting close to leaving, and they don't really want to fight with you, so they take care of what you need. Also, at that time, there is very little hold time I have found. Now the above could just have been my experiences and just luck, but still I did mine at around that time. I purchased the $30/500 minute plan - with everything plus unlimited texting promo. And I also got a Sanyo 8400 with the plan @ $99.99 - although not on SERO list; but I don't think it matters just takes more time if its not on SERO list.

Tried again tonight by calling SERO at 888-882-4030. This time I want to bring over both my parents which would be two new lines. My contract does not expire till Oct 2008, so there is no way for me to negotiate. Should I just keep calling *hoping* I get someone to change me over? I'm sure they are tracking this and want to take care of this before the end of June, but I'm thinking I should give up soon. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance.

I would say try again, but there is another tactic you could use. What I would do is, call Sprint (try different depts.), but when they answer, don't immediately give them your phone number and account info. First just say you have a question, and then tell them your current situation (in contract, want to switch to SERO, etc.), and ask if they can help you. If they say blah, blah, new customers only, whatever, etc., then just politely thank them and hang up. This way, no notes go on the account, because they have no idea who you are. Now, if they do say they can help you, then give them your information and hopefully they will really be able to help. Either way, it should limit the "tracking" that you are worried about. Also, you may want to call from a different phone then your account (not sure if they can see that). Good Luck and keep us posted...

when you folks call to get switched to SERO, does that extend your contract by 2 years?

It did for me, but with this deal- I'm planning on staying with Sprint for a long time.

Ok. Thanks to you guys, I finally got the SERO plan, but I dont know if I can really give you any tips. I called twice(*2) at around 11:30 to Midnight ET and both times I got a CSR from phillipines. The first one was nice but he said he did not see the note to wave ETF. I called today and had the fortune/misfortune of being charged over 30 dollars for data use (Which I still don't know why I got).
So I was trying to be pleasant but my frustration sneaked in because I spent 30 minutes of the call trying to get those charges taken off he finally told me he would half the charges if I got a data plan and I said I would gladly with the SERO plan I was promised. After a few seconds of holding my breath the nice gentleman said he would do it but he would have to charge me the ETF but later he corrected himself since I had just started my contract that he would not charge me. I don't think he removed the charges after for the data but I got the 30/500 plan.
The only thing is that I don't see the unlimited texting so I'm payin $30 for the plan, $8 for texting (Which I should still have $8 credit for but I don't think I do) also the protection plan so that equals $45 + tax and that is too much and I guess I will need ecare to take care of that cuz im done with holding for 20 minutes. Thanks again.

I noticed the June 30th expiration for unlimited text messages on the SERO website. I was wondering if I should switch over to SERO. Here's what I have:

Treo 650
500 minute old F&C plan $40
PCS Vision pictures package $15
6pm nights (free after discount, listed as $10)
Unlimited text messages (free grandfathered in, no line on the bill)
10% loyalty discount
23% business discount
Monthly total: $41.23
Contract expires: 5/26/2008
Website says I'm only eligible for $75 new phone discount
Been with Sprint since 6/2000

Does it make sense for me to switch to the 500 minute SERO plan for $30 as I want to make the transition to a Treo 755? The way I see it, SERO with 6pm nights will cost $40 plus taxes so slightly more than I am currently paying (~$43). I know there have been some problems going from Vision to Power Vision so I'm a bit concerned about that, especially if I delay upgrading to the 755 for another 6 months. If I can get 6pm nights for free it'll cost less but I don't know if they'll go for that.

Once I get the Treo 755 I'd probably be interested in getting a PAM unlimited data plan so I could use it to tether.

To use that $75 get the phone first then once you order the phone call and switch to Sero if that's something you want to do. Once you switch to the $30 plan you'll lost the $75. U must have gotten a phone within the past year to only have the $75 creidt. To me you even out with Sero by the time taxes and TEP kick in since you have discounts. U might want to find out if your discounts will follow you or not.

Ok, I'm going to try ONE LAST TIME today to get the SERO plan. I've not had a lot of luck so far getting it. I've been getting a lot of people who can't help me out and who tell me I'll have to pay an ETF and activation fees on both lines.

Any tips on how to maybe finally succeed?

Nope. I was told though that b/c I was within 30 days of signing my new one that I could probably still get it....

I used this when I tried for Sero.

I've been a long time customer of Sprint. And despite the problems that I've had I would like to remain a customer. I heard from a few friends about the Sero plan and I looked into it and I found out this would be a better plan than the one I already have. I would agree to resign a new contract with Sprint if I could get this plan.

That was basically what was said besides the fact that I had talked about all my problems with Sprint for the past few years and even the month leading to me switching over to Sero.

Hello All.

I just found this site last night, and was definitely encouraged by the success that everyone else has had with a SERO plan.

My contract was up in November, and Im currently just on month to month. I have gotten a few mailers telling me I can get a 10% discount if I call in blah blah blah. I just dialed the number listed on the SERO Page (888-882-4050) and spoke with a very friendly CSR named Allie.

She said that I could get set up on a SERO plan, but not using my current line of service. Her take was that I could open a new line, and then once it was activated, "port" my number over. I told her I would need to think about this and I could call back.

Im pretty much a noob when it comes to this, so can someone tell me what that will mean? Wont I incur a charge for porting an old number over to the new one, essentially giving up the new number? I dont want to have to pay an ETF for the new line of service....

Or should I go through a different channel to contact Sprint?

Goodgyrl

Call Retentions since you're on a month to month basis with Sprint and tell them how much you've enjoyed your time with Sprint and that you'll be a happy customer with them if you could get Sero. Make sure they give you n&w @7 and unlimited text. Tell them you wont mind renewing a 2 yr contract and that you want to keep your current number.

I just saw that number listed in the FAQ, but it says its for employee accounts.... Is that technically where these SERO plans live? I just dont want to upset anyone over at Sprint by calling the wrong places.

However, an update. I called *2, said cancel, got transferred to a woman named Debora. (sp?) I told her I wanted to keep my number and get a new SERO plan, and she said that a CSR could help me with that. Then I got kicked back to the automated system, and then disconnected.... Not cool.

So I called the number above, was put through to a nice woman named Ashley, and she was about to set something up and.... disconnected.

I called back, and got another woman named Margaret. Also very friendly and helpful, but she informed me that I wouldnt be able to get SERO and keep my number, since its for new customers only.

I have a feeling the SERO folks arent going to be able to help me out at this point...

Should I stop calling people for the day, or try a few more? I dont want to get a note in my file (It feels like that episode of Seinfeld with Elane and her doctor's chart...)

I was thinking the same thing about the note on my acct since I used to leave very descriptive notes when I worked there. What I did was avoid giving my number to them, I only called twice though. When they would ask for my number, I would instead say "I was actually just inquiring about the SERO plan that I was told about." Then you can see if they are going to be able to switch you or not before you give your number and let them into your acct. Still make sure to let them know that you are already a current customer though.

Hope this helps a little at least.

Call back and ask to speak to Ashley since you were in the middle of getting your account switched to SERO when the line was disconnected. It is unlikely the rep will be able to connect you to Ashley and will go ahead with the SERO setup. :fingers:

BTW: What is wrong with Sprint's phone system with calls being dropped? I had dropped calls and I am using a land line. :irked:

Clarkbug

I actually did ask to speak with her, and yeah, she couldnt do it. Then she just said that she couldnt help me with the SERO setup unless I wanted to start a new line of service, which I really am not looking to do. So I told her I would have to think about my options and hung up the phone.

So now Im debating on if I should just try the *2 route and ask about a SERO plan for a renewal. Or would going through ecare work better?

But yeah, two disconnections in the span of half an hour, not so good....

Success in 2hrs! I finally got my plan and here is the step by step of what I did. Keep in mind that I called on the weekend and it sounded like everyone that actually helped me was Indian.

1) called SERO at 888-882-4030 = no luck. They would not change me over since I was a current customer

2) called Employee Care 866-250-2221 and talked to Shane. He said as of 2 months ago, they are not able to create SERO plans, need to talk to a consumer care specialist. He gave me the number and made a note on my account telling the person how to do it. He said when I called the next number, to give them my phone number and have them read the note on my account.

3) called 888-211-4727 and clicked on "other support", but that is not a consumer care specialist, so she transferred me. Finally the person I talked to granted me a SERO account. When I asked about the unlimited txt messaging. She said I would need to sign up 2 other lines. Then all 3 would have unlimited txt messaging. So I signed up for the $5/mth for 300 txt messages and then she transferred me to sign up new customers for the other two lines.

4) picked out my two new phones, but can not activate the SERO plans with them till the phones come in the mail. They waived the activation fee and the shipping/handling.
The call took about 1.5 hrs.

5) just went to Radio Shack to my buy new phone since they had better deals than Sprint. So I got the red Samsung m500 with my $150 rebate and a mail in rebate will make the phone free.

I will post the cost of my new plan when the new phones arrive in the mail.

Thanks for everyone's tips and hints!

Erm... Unlimited Text messaging is included with ALL Sero plans until June 30th. One of the reps I talked to mentioned that they probably already removed it from the "normal" menu options because it's about to expire, but it should still be available to you at no additional charge. Plus I wasn't aware of a 300 Text plan.. thought it was 100 or 500.

All the same, I'd recommend contacting e-care explaining that Sero should come with unlimited text messaging since you signed up before June 30th.

The call centers in India use an American sounding name to try to fool you into thinking you are talking to an American call center. I saw on PBS a documentary about the work conditions of these call centers and the churn rate is very high.

There are businesses in India that teach American culture so the people who work in call centers will understand when someone says something like "vanilla" plan.

I just called in to the number I had for my "10% loyalty discount" that came with my bill... I told the woman that I was a current customer, and that my phone had been acting up lately, so I was looking to sign a new plan, and I had this thing noting I qualified for 10% off with a new plan.

She told me I would need to talk to customer care to get a new plan, but she would add the 10%, and I would see it on my next bill. Sweeeeet.

Hi folks. This is my first post. I'd just spent 15 minutes typing out my whole 3.5 to 4 hour, 11 person saga. Seems appropriate I lost the post b/c I apparently wasn't logged in. LoL! Anyway, after talking to a bunch of folks for a long while, I finally started making headway and was able to get out of my current family plan about a month early with no ETF and sign up for the SERO. This thread helped a lot ... so did keeping a cool and generally likable demeanor, and being honest. I'll have to call CC to get a couple of things taken care of once the phones arrive (Power Vision instead of Vision, unlimited text, and changing the numbers); but all in all a worthwhile experience.

One question: No one gave me an order number. Do you know if there's anyway to find out tracking information on the phone???

depends on how much ya'll talk. If you talk less than 500 minutes a month to people that's not on the Sprint network and you're on the phone more before 7 pm then the $30 plan would be the best.

Basically you can go either way. Of course, the easiest thing to do, would be to return the Q, cancel, then sign up again with a SERO plan. You can keep calling and trying to get a rep to switch you over though. Just be careful not to call and ask too much. They could end up noting your account, which would dig you a really deep hole.

I'm so excited! :D I'm also wondering if we should have done the $30 plans instead of the $50 ones. Not too late, I suppose.... OK. Now I'm getting off topic. I'll stop that. ;)
I hear that once you get SERO, switching between the different plans $50 or $30 isn't too hard.

Basically you can go either way. Of course, the easiest thing to do, would be to return the Q, cancel, then sign up again with a SERO plan. You can keep calling and trying to get a rep to switch you over though. Just be careful not to call and ask too much. They could end up noting your account, which would dig you a really deep hole.

actually -- i made a second, and then third, and then fourth call to *2 and finally reached a rep that said, yeah no problem ... so, effective July 1, both I and my wife will be under the $49.99 1250 minutes with unlimited text, data on both lines ... in the end the savings are about $20 a month so with our other discounts, we will only be paying about $70/month for two lines with full text/data service. thanks for the assist!

Go to the SERO site, it tells you what's included. Picture and video mail are included as well as IM. Unlimited text messaging is available until June 30.

I swear I remember seeing that, too; but now when I go to the site, I can't find those items on the page. Any clues or screenshots?

The unlimited text is hidden in the middle of the fine print at the bottom marked with **
The rest is hard to decipher from the new Sero site. I don't like the design it is more confusing and less informative now...

Nice pdf. It sums it up nicely- minus the unlimited text which will expire soon(?) anyway.
It's good they took out the IM part since it was being confused with texts msg'ing.

Well ... apparently there are ways to do the IM through websites. I gave up and called the SERO sales folks and asked what the heck was actually included. IM through the special phone applications isn't; picture & video mail definitely still is. I'm gonna have to figure out the right folks to call to make sure that's setup on my plan ... *2 was about as useful as ... as ... something not very useful (it's late and I need to attend simile school). ;)

okay so even if an application uses the data plan to IM, it still isn't included? bummer.

What are you talking about? IM only requires a data plan and SERO has unlimited data. Text messaging is something different and unlimited is available until June 30.

question..

I have been told that my phone number is not eligible for sero plan since the origination of the number is not a sprint corporate area...they rent towers there but do not own. This seems odd. I did get ahold of a guy in employee accounts that was extremely helpful....but said it couldnt be done...however he did what he could to make my current plan cheaper.

anyone else ever heard of this?

I just tried using the savings@sprintpcs.com email to use the sero site yesterday and it worked fine. I called up the 888 number and easily was able to set up a plan. I got the $30 with a Upstage for $80. The guy who helped me only asked for the email I used at the end, after the billing information went through. I was a little worried as I gave him the savings@sprintpcs.com email, but he said that people have been using that email and is has worked for people in the past.

Bottom Line:
1. Call the 888-882-4030 number.
2. Set up cero/use the savings@sprintpcs.com email.

Maybe I was just lucky, but it was really easy. The hardest part for me was when I got disconnected and had to call back. However, they had my info saved so we just continued where the last guy left off.

I used openaccess@sprint.com to get my SERO plan, the rep i spoke to said that this one is fine because it is what employees give out if they don't want to use their name. Not sure how long it will work, but its good for now.

I know that the unlimited sero text promotion expires on 6-30-07, but if you do have the unlimited sero text, does that promotion end on 6-30-07 or is is good for as long as you have the sero plan? Help! :fingers:
well the only promo Sero has is the unlimited text that ends the end of the month. Unless you're looking at a cell phone online.

I doubt it, because the vast majority of people on SERO plans don't have RL-capable phones. You've got an 8400, which is a RL-capable phone, so you should try emailing E-Care with the link, and ask them to add it to your account for free.

If you do, let us know what they say! :tu:

What was the explaination from the CSR and Ecare as to why they could not added it to your SERO line with the M1 being a Ready Link capable phone?

I inquired about the offer, and she said since it wasn't a valid Sprint PCS website that the offer was not valid.

And when she checked the corporate sheets that ReadyLink was not an option which was to be included.

That's actually funny. I would email her back and tell her the "link" came from the sero site. If you check the source code (I'm sure she has no idea how to do that) for the page, it's right there... just commented out so it's not clickable.
