What's the cheapest / preferred way to go with the prepaid port? I'm thinking of adding the second line while the promotion is going on, then porting my current number to a prepaid, and then getting it ported back after I've had the other line for a few days.

Im really not sure, but check at Walmart they have all kinds of prepaid there.

Another place you can try is your local gas station/convienence store. They usually have phones there for $20-$30.

Question. I have two lines already. I have the sprint family pack 59.99 plan with 550 minutes. Really its all i need. I am inquiring on if i can or have the credit to get a third line for my brother. Question is, if I do, should I try to or can i just get a sero plan on his line? Because i need unlimited texts (literally use over 1,000 per bill) and looks like the sero doesnt offer unlimited.

Or if they do offer unlimited, would it be worth it trying to get it for all three lines?

Okay. So I am eligible for the third line. So SERO plans do not offer unlimted text at all?

They have unlimited text. Its 15 a month just like all the other plans. Imphonic does a really bad job, and doesnt list all the options. Just call a rep and tell them you want to add it once you get your phone.

kentonese
02-23-2007, 10:54 AM
yes. call them...you might also be able to get the three years brought down to two. (if needed)
Since when did Sprint start doing three year renewals? I've never heard of that.

Getting the nights adjusted to 7pm is no problem but definitely look into that three year renewal thing....

Yeah i went to the site this time and saw it there. i have to call a rep to add the third line anyway. just i dont use minutes and my brother does (he talks forever!) and with the new baby he has - going 2 weeks without a phone cuz he on pre-paid aint cutting it. but i just got my bill down and i dont wanna pay out the ying yang for 3 lines with more minutes. so i wanna try having him his own line - or gettin sero for all three lines -

if i do - do i have to pay the $15 for unlimted text on all three? I'm sure if im nice and ask i wont have to - sprints the only co i dont have to bytch at to get what i want.

Well, I've given up on trying to get SERO (I'm an existing customer adding a second line, anyway) but my second attempt with retention was interesting. I asked for 6pm nights and was told there was no code for free nights starting at 6. Any thoughts on how to get 6pm nights?

From what I've read here and at other boards, try calling again about 6pm nights/weekends. I hear it's hit or miss and may depend on the time of the day you call.

How long have you been with Sprint and did you give them the public email codes for the Sero plans?

Good luck-

Howdy, fellow Aggie! :)

I've been with Sprint since '98. I think the current plan I have worked out is good enough, and with the 30% discounts I'm getting I should be good to go. I would like the 6pm nights, though, because I call my wife between 6 and 7 to tell her what time I think I'll be able to leave work, and a lot of my "catch up with friends" calls will occur in that hour, too.

Thanks again. :)

The inphonic site claims the offer ends 28 February. I read or heard somewhere (inphonic or Sprint site) that the "public offer" of SERO expired 31 December.

I bet they'll have another open enrollment right afterwards though. It seemed the the winter enrollment ended just to have this one come along.

I guess Sprint is trying their best to get new customers.
Good for them. :)

Switched to a SERO plan on the 2nd try. Funny enough, I had recently switched away from a FF plan because the FF plans were no longer offered and I needed a larger minute bucket. Best. Plan type. Evar...

The first time I called *2, I was shot down really fast: new customers only.

Second time around (about three weeks later), I was asked for a referral email. I gave them the savings@sprint.com email, and that was it. On hold for a few minutes, suggested that I drop the vision package since the SERO plan came with it. Sounds good -- on hold for another few minutes. Suggested that I purchase an SMS plan because I was using quite a bit casual SMS. Sounds good -- on hold for another few minutes.

Total time on the phone: maybe 20-25 minutes.

After 10+ :frustrate tries I finally got it. I called to try to get SERO after going to the www.sprint.com/sero(use holiday@sprint.com for the email address) site because on that site you have to make a new order and cancel your current Sprint Service. I told the rep that I did not want to cancel my current service but I did want to take advantage of the SERO Plan. He told me to call #733 from my sprint phone and have my phone number and the sprint employee who referred me phone number as well. I called #ref or 733 and duh.....that is the number for you and the person who referred you to Sprint to get a $25.00 visa spending card for being refered to sprint by a sprint or nextel user. Since this did not work I called Sprint back and reached the Idaho call center. I explained the situation to the rep, he apologized for my being led in the wrong direction. He said for your inconvience,I will add it for you right now. He did add it, after we hung up I looked on sprint.com at my plan and it's there! This is what I got: :deal:
2500 Adjustable Anytime Minutes :haha:

Good luck! My friend actually was told the same thing. But to cover himself he added a line under a SERO plan with Inphonic just in case they say no. Since it runs out in 3 days he didnt want to lose out. If they transfer his number to SERO hes going to send the phone back within the 30 days to Inphonic and say his wife wasnt happy with it. If they dont transfer his number he is going to drop his old plan and number since SERO is such a good deal. He is able to do it since his plan is out of contract.

If you have documentation that you were approved. You can get it. I had a similar situation. Instead, mine was for $150. At first, rebates didn't want to give it to me. I proved that I was already approved and they had to honor it. My advice....save your e-mail.

Most everyone with a Sero plan gets their buisness discount taken off, they are not compatible with eachother. Even Sprint Employees can not keep their Employee discount, but maybe you'll slip through.

Thanks to those who encouraged me to call back and ask about 6pm nights. There were still issues with my account and my phone, so I called first thing Sunday. The very nice young lady who handled my call gave me 6pm nights in lieu of the 200 extra minutes I had originally gotten, and she squared away the issues with my phone.

A buddy of mine also mentioned to me there's an affinity discount for being a USAA member, and if they stack that on top of my 15% government employee and 10% loyalty discounts, I'll be with Sprint for a very, very, very long time. :)

None. For some reason there are regular Power Pack Family plans and add-ons being listed on the SERO web site, along with the Basic (200 minute) plan. I can only guess as to why they are there, and I don't care to even try. Another odd thing is that the family plans on the SERO site don't seem to include roaming.

If I am on the SERO plan with Vision and I get a PV phone and change to the SERO PV plan, does that require a contract renewal? Not that it matters to me. I'm just curious because the only thing differentiating the plans is Vision and PV.

By coincidence, I just asked ecare the same thing yesterday. They replied that I would have to change to a plan with Power Vision and extend my contract by two more years. They did not specify whether or not the new plan could still be the SERO plan. The response also indicated that even though I am on the $30 SERO plan that I was eligible for a $75 rebate now or a $150 rebate in December (when my original 2 year contract would be up) if I wanted to get a new phone from Sprint.

I had a feeling it would still require a renewal. The new plan will still be the SERO plan because there is a SERO Vision plan code and a SERO PV plan code. All you are really doing is changing that one option.

Interesting news about the rebate. Did you follow up on that, by any chance? I would like more of an official word than the general statement I have seen on other boards.

So I tried to port all of my phones to SERO with no luck, but here is what Retentions gave me. I'm pretty Happy with it.

Line 1 (Moto Q - Just got it Feb13)
- 550 min $59.99
- Power Vision $15 with a $10 discount ($5)
Line 2 (KRZR - Got it in Jan)
- No Service charge
- Power Vision with picture mail $20 with $10 discount ($10)
Line 3 (Old phone past contract date)
- No service charge
- Vision with picture mail $5
Line 4 (Old phone past contract date)
- $9.99 service charge with $5 discount
15% Corporate discount
15% Loyalty dicount

Total = $109.98 - $25 (discounts)
=$84.98 - $25.49 (30% Dicount)
=$59.49

The best part is a 2100 minute plan would only cost me $94 if I decide to get that many minutes, but I don't need them. That's cheaper than 4 SERO acounts! Basically I told the Rep I wanted 4 SERO acounts and he said he couldn't do it but he would get as close to it as he could. He then just started adding discounts. I ended up with a better deal than I was asking for. I was persistant. It took 8 calls to retentions with everyone telling me I couldn't keep my old phone numbers.

I almost forgot. Most of the reps told me to use the openaccess10 email to set up new SERO numbers so that should work.

I just got the 500 minute plan on my first call tonight. Rep said that an employee email was required even with using the holiday email address. So she used her own to sign me up. She mentioned that each employee was allowed to sign up 5 people. I heard her say something about adding saved account. I've been with sprint since 01 and out of contract since August. I'm also getting a bonus for resigning. I didn't ask about my business discount. If I still have it great, if not oh well I'll still be paying the same amount for more minutes and roaming.

Thanks to this forum I was able to understand the process I needed to go through to enroll in the program. I have been success as of my fifth call in two days. I got someone in who knows where who said no go as I was an existing customer. Then I had Jane in Salt Lake City, and Katie in Salt Lake City. Jane said that the program was no longer availabe (yesterday) and hadn't been for months. She said there was nothing she or anyone else could do for me EVEN after I gave her the website address... so on to Katie, who most likely would have done it for me but we got disconnected. Called right back... 12:23 a.m. eastern time, got the Idaho call center and a wonderfully helpful guy Miles. After MUCH research and apologies for not being able to find the code, he finally did. I am now enrolled with one line at 500 and one at 1250. I didn't get any other perks. Guess I should have tried especially because Miles was so helpful. Thanks again to everyone. I have some more questions but I am going to post in appropriate thread.

THANKS and good luck to everyone today.

It depends how many minutes you use. You are stuck in the middle of SERO 500 and SERO 1250.

You pay less with free PV but you get 500 less minutes with SERO 500.

With SERO 1250, you pay more but you also get more.

Depending on how much you actually want/need Vision, you may be better off sticking with what you've got.

Sounds like you got a great deal. I want to switch my current plan to a SERO plan today, since it's the last day to do it. I've been a sprint customer for 6yrs (maybe i can get them to throw in the customer loyalty discount, who knows) I've been browsing these forums for the longest to learn how to approach the CSR's for a SERO plan. I called SERO today and got shot down, when the rep informed me that it's only for new customers only. I will call Sprint again tonight and speak to another rep (I got his direct line :-)) he was very nice and helpful. But just in case I don't get him, can anyone please provide me with the Idaho call center #...b/c it seems like it works for everybody.

I just want to keep my current plan and switch it over to a SERO plan w/out cancelling my current plan and getting a new #.

Any help, advice is much apppreciated!! Thanks in advance!

Well after haggling and going through alot of CR's, I was finally put through the Idaho office! I politely asked the rep for their call center #, but he informed me that they didn't really have one, I would have to go through the system and then be transferred over :-( But he was very helpful, I was able to get the Q for $99 for my 1st line and the Red Rzr for $59.99 on my 2nd line. It should be here tomorrow or Monday...but the only thing I have to do is the ESN swap...they wouldn't let me keep my current #'s, I basically had to get new #'s and a 2yr extension (but that's ok)

Now I hope that when I receive the phones that the ESN swap will go through w/no problem. B/c I have read some horror stories about the swaps, and I hope it goes off without a hitch. And oh they were able to waive the upgrade fee and the activation fee, witch was cool. So I'll wait and see what happens. I'll keep you posted.

Sorry for the long post in advance... This has been a long time coming...

Today was quite interesting-

I placed an order on the SERO site back on the 21st (for the B/o Moto Q).. My order had been approved - just waiting for the phone to come in. I talked to Inphonic CSR's at least 4 times while waiting for the phone and it was the same thing every time.

I called today and they told me the phones had just been received an that they would try to get mine right out. Then I look tonight to find out they canceled my order. NO BUENO.

Turns out that when they tried to do the activation, Sprint wouldn't let them because I am still receiving a corporate discount from when I used to work at Wells Fargo (a land long ago and far away - 2+ yrs ago)..

At this point, I wonder if I should fight this harder. Heres the question:

Should I try to get the discount removed by Sprint so I can order the Q through Inphonic? After I get my SERO phones, I was planning on shutting off these lines. My contract was up in April 2005. The SERO deal is so good as it is, that I am not worried about it. (I am grandfathered under a super old 2k min plan with unlimited everything (Vision though) - was so happy, didnt want to mess with it) Plus I hate dealing with rebates. Absolutely hate them. Plus I am afraid they will **** up and snake me into another contract when Im not looking...

Or should I just try dealing with retentions? My wife wouldnt mind a Q or BB also...

I'd deal directly with sprint on it. Explain that you wanted the line on the sero plan with the Q but that inphonic canceled the order over a week later.

Either way sprint should honor your SERO request as you must have been willing to activate a new line / new number to complete the transaction to begin with. You realize that a NVP discount is not applicable to the SERO plan and are willing to activate the phone and plan with no extra discounts.

If your happy with your plan, just dal with retentions for new phones with instant rebates :)

Good luck!

Good advice Dan,
Wow, this is a more striking example that Sprint is trying to weed out the discounts on the SERO plans...

How does one obtain a flyer like this? I've seen a pdf scan on another board but prefer to see if I can earn it myself to avoid those messy questions....

cool, let me know how it goes. Doesn't Sprint keep track of who they send these flyers out to???

BTW does anyone know if it makes a difference that I don't get my bill mailed to me anymore? Maybe it comes stuff in the envelop with the bills?
I signed up for online access only a long time ago.

*2 worked for me, in 2 tries. I'm afraid I wasn't paying attention to what callcenter helped me out, but the first try, the rep had no clue, but the second try, I just told here I wanted to take advantage of the SERO plan, and she placed me on hold for a second then, came back and asked which one I wanted for the primary line, and which for the second line. i am currently a Sprint customer as well.

I have a question.... if you sign up for SERO, does it cancel out your other discounts you have on your plan? I know I'll probably lose my 22% Besy Buy discount, but oh well. I'm asking about my texting plan. I pay $8 for unltd texts, but receive an $8 credit every month, making my unltd texts free. Would I lose that if I switched to SERO?

What plans did you end up getting on your lines? I just emailed ecare about the same thing. I was approved for SERO for a third line, but I didnt want to add a new one-just change my existing plans over... after debating over the plans, 2 individual plans were better to me than a family plan, even on SERO. That, and the fact that the individual plans have free roaming and the family plans wanted 69 cents per minute. Blah.
So now I'm waiting for a response.

I have the SERO 1250 min plan nw @ 7p, etc, etc. on my line, and I have the 500 min plan on my sons phone. Actually, I have to make sure that all is ok with the transfer to the new plans, they have not began yet but will on 03/08. Funny but I have emailed ecare (admittidly, trying to get more stuff ie: 6pm n&w, and free texting for my sons line and trying to confirm my plan, and the orih=ginal rep had the N&W mins starting at 9pm, but they fixed it and placed it for 7pm. I also asked about my other perks that I had on my line. I have the email which states that I will still keep my Best Buy corporate discount as well, as my texting for $8/mo, w$8 credit each mo, and my son get's to download up to $7 worth of online content (from old plan), as well as I was receiving a $10 credit toward the evdo service, and since the PWVision is included in the plan, the ecare rep says that I will still get the $10 of my bill. I have it in writing, so i guess I can hold them to it, but we shall see.

Pixiebaby, if you do decide to switch over, email ecare and just state that you want to confirm your plan and include that you wanted to confirm that your corporate discount is there as well, and see how that works.

Good luck. If you want a copy of the email lemme know.

Wow..... I put in work for this one. When I was added I spent over 6 hours on the phone bouncing around CSR's to get this.

First I am an existing sprint customer.... so it was harder for me.

I bounced around the first hour between 4 CSRs.
The first one I got disconnected with as soon as I said SERO (hang up?).
The second said I would have to call employee line..... employee line asked for my phone number, when I entered it I was automatically dumped back to the main CSR line.
Finally, The fifth CSR was very helpful and switched me over no problems.... I was able to keep my number too.
The second line was a different story. I have a non power vision phone on that line, so I had to upgrade the phone to get it added to SERO.
They sent me to telesales, got that upgraded to another phone for a close rate to SERO pricing for new customers.... got sent back to the plans folks, where they said I would have to wait for the phone to activate it and then get it switched to SERO.
No Prob.... I asked them to notate that on my account and hung up.
I called another CSR to ask them if I had any notes on my account and they said the notes was there. I asked them to read back to me what the SERO plan on my primary line entailed and they said the typical SERO stuff.... plus 7pm nights and weekends, and 500 texts per phone line.

Activating the second phone under SERO when I recieved it was hard.... took about 3 hours, until I could find a represenative that could read the notes already on my account (curious why all represenatives couldnt read it.) When I found one that could it was all gravy.

Two lines, both the $30 Sero plans, typical Sero benefits, plus texting, and the America data roaming plans.

So I am happy with the perks. Woot.

You're not supposed to have any additional discounts with the Sero plan since it is an already heavily discounted plan. However, things do slip through the cracks and if you're nice to us, we tend to look the other way. Then again, if you're trying to get everything else for free with the plan and we know it, plan on not getting anything. After all, this is a business and I have my retirement plan involved. :fingers:

If you read my post above,I'm not trying to get anything for free. I just waould like to keep my texting plans at the same cost, and possibly keep my Best Buy discount. If I can't keep the BB discount, I won't cry about it b/c I'll still be saivng $30 alone on vision just by switching to SERO.

If you can get your plan switched to sero, then yes, you would be able to keep your text plan. That's not a big deal and I would make sure that it doesn't change. If you have the line switched under the same BB account you have currently, you might be able to keep the discount but I can't promise that you would.

If you've been a good customer for a long time (sounds like you have been) and all you want is to have your plan switched to the Sero, it shouldn't be hard. Just keep at it until you find a rep who will say yes. I'll do it for people sometimes. It's a lot less work than just cancelling everything and starting over again.

Think I was able to sign up for sero even though my area is not currently covered by sero.
I signed up using a zip code from Minnesota that i knew worked and the openaccess email and everything looked good. Picked up the 500/min plan and the moto q.
Went through it, and let my address be in Minnesota, even though i live in Pennsylvania.
After the process went through I went to live help at wheresmyorder.com and chatted with a rep who i told i messed up my order and for some reason it wanted to ship it to the wrong state, he said he would take care of it and change my billing and shipping to my home.
Later i talked to sprint and they said my account is set to go and my phone will be here in a few days (moto q's are on back order but will be in within 72 hours so i hear). Hopefully this will work!

Area's that are "Affiliate Markets" and not actually owned/operated by Sprint Corp are not entitle to the SERO discount.

From the many SERO threads on different boards, I am hesitant of porting my number and using Inphonic to do it.
Do any of the helpful Sprint CS reps here think I could sign up through Sprint, get the new Treo, then call and get switched to SERO?

I thought Inphonic isn't even the one who ports your number though. Don't they ship the phone to you with a temporary number and then you initiate the port when you call to activate the phone?

If I was a new customer, I'd just go with Inphonic. You have the option to get the plan right off the bat. Take it. Porting your number will most likely prove to be a much easier task than trying to get a normal plan switched to SERO.

Exactly. Inphonics gives you a temp number. When you get the phone, call sprint and port your verizon number.

I have a current non-SERO plan and I am still in contract. What I'd like to do is get a new phone, keep my same # and switch to SERO. If I were to go through the Sprint.com/sero site and sign up as a new customer and select the option to port my number to the account, does anyone know what would happen? I realize that if the port went through I would of course have to pay the ETF on my current account. But I guess I'm wondering if they would allow the port to go through at all since it's already a Sprint number.

I think they would cancel your order.

Inphonic does not handle the actual porting. You will do that through Sprint and will be charged the ETF. Your only options are to call until you find a rep to switch you or sign up through the website and pay the ETF when you port.

Hi,

I have a question for the new sero people. Do the new plans have unlimited roaming? I originally signed up two phones under the $30 sero plans. Got 6PM N/W thrown in for free. Fast forward a year and I had a third line added that was suppose to mirror the other two lines. Everything went as planned except for the 6PM N/W credit on the third line.

I'm going to call in tomorrow to see if I can get them to credit that line. If it's not possible, the new sero plans come with 7PM N/W which I can live with (my original came with 9PM). I just want to make sure the new plans also have unlimited roaming.

I never get confirmation messages, not once, ever...
They finally responded saying I could do it, but I'd have to pay and ETF on my current lines and get 2 new numbers. So.... I emailed them again using a diff ecare address.
Now I wait another 24 hours...

This is no longer SERO related, but just to explain the result of my quest:

I just called retentions directly and got taken care of. Got to keep my awesome grandfathered plan with a couple tweeks - should be only $8.00 per month more before my NVP discount of 25% (which I got to keep)... got 2 Q's @ 99.00 ea, and a A900M for the neice thrown in.
Im happy.

Today a very nice lady in Retentions in New Mexico helped me switch my current 3 line F&F plan to a SERO + 2 line powerpack plan (don't ask, this is really the best she could do given my ... unique ... circumstances).

cool- did you get to keep your old cell numbers? That seems to be the sticking point these days.

I would - it helps. Just be real nice - they will probably upgrade your shipping to Overnight.. they can probably tell you where you are in line, as well.

Ok, so I called Sprint/SERO today( i just got off the phone w/them) and a CR told me that one of my pnones is in stock (Red Rzr V3M) but the Q is still out of stock and he couldn't ship me the Rzr b/c both phones has to be activitated at the same time. He then went on to tell me that the Q should be in stock in a day or two. So hopefully the phones should be ready by this Friday.

I also asked him to note on my account that he said that he waived the shipping fee of $14.99. :) And also noted that it would be a one day shipment. So I guess I'll find out for sure this Friday!

I'll keep ya posted.

In my case, it just came up -- I mentioned we were getting snow in the area, and she mentioned that they don't get much snow in New Mexico, but that she used to live back east and ...

Yep, keeping the numbers was never even brought up as an issue. I mentioned I had heard of SERO plans, she read up on it, and asked which of the lines I'd like changed over.

I dont think you can port it over, and maybe I missed something somewhere, but I cant recall seeing anyone complain about trying this-

Make sure your accounts are linked (basically on one bill) and then swap numbers - throw the new # on the old phone and old # on new phone. I have done it with my wife's phone before - we'll trade phones every now and then - but that was long ago.

I would assume it is the ACCOUNT that has to stay open during the duration of the contract, you can change numbers if need be. It's like if you move - you want a local number when you get there.

I hope someone will correct me if I am wrong and Sprint does not allow this...

Well there you have it. I think this is going to be one of those "Your Result May Vary" situations. The people at Sprint are catching on to alot of our little tricks - just look at how many employees actively post here. The nice thing about big companies is they have alot of employees who can make mistakes. :)

still working on getting this sero deal. Phone is still on backorder and instead of my account status showing the phone is ready to ship it went back to the message about sprint needing to approve and activate my account. It's weird. Tried to contact support they told me they were having database issues and that I should try back later.
I'm going to see what's going on and maybe see if they can bump me up to next day air as I need to port my number over to sprint before my other carriers contract runs out and I am forced to renew. Maybe that will get them moving a bit faster. I want my new moto q!

For some reason my order status constantly changed from Reviewing Order to Ready to ship. I called sprint about 10 minutes ago and seemed to get pretty good results. My shipping was upgraded to next day and the moto q just arrived and my order was pushed to first in line to get the phone... Pretty cool. Can't wait for the Q.

For roaming, do you have to adhere to that, "half of your minutes have to be on Sprint's network" rule?

I never have to roam so I really don't know much about it.

It's okay. My contarct is up in July, so I'll just wait until then to try again. They did change my plan for me though, from my 800 minutes to 1400 minutes for $20 more. Considering I was paying like $35-40 in minute overages every month for the past few months, that's a good enough deal to me. The best part... she did it somehow where it didnt require me to renew my contract, which was AWESOME since I'm finally so close to the end of it!

Well I guess I answered my own question. After numerous attempts and a close call or two, I finally switched both lines over to Sero 500 plans last night. I found a nice CSR in a call center in Texas that switched them over. Hopefully all is well when the bill comes. Now have to wait til 4/1 for full credit for phone upgrades. Thanks for all your input.

Well, I have an updated - and things worked out pretty well.

To begin I signed up with Sprint SERO 500min plan, but that fell through because it wasn't offered in my area.

I called sprint many times and they all gave me a run around not being able to do anything, finally one rep gave me a number to call (i guess it was retentions or similar).

I told her my story, how sprint said that they are shipping my phone and then later decided to cancel my order because they couldn't provide it in my area.

The lady I spoke with said she will work out a deal similar to the SERO plan. I was giving the 39.99/ month plan with at 15% discount. She threw in 500texts for free and added a credit to my account of offset the cost of the sprint power vision data. All in all I got 450 anytime, unlimited nights/weekend, 500 texts, unlimited picture video mail, and unlimited mobile broadband internet for $33/month.

Pretty good deal for a new customer! I'm very happy!

Only thing is, instead of getting my moto q for $99 I will now have to pay $199 dollars but I get a $100 mail in rebate instead of the $100 instant rebate. Still a good deal and still can't wait for my new phone. :-D

Yeah, that's true. I asked for free unltd and settled for the $8 unltd. To my surprise, when the bill came in, I was charged for unltd texts at $8, but also had a recurring text credit of $8... meaning free. :)
Don't ask me how it happened. She said I couldnt get them for free, I said $8 is better than $15 and thanked her. Then I get a credit. I'm happy. :)

Before i switched to sero i had the $5 unlimited text with a credit of $5 so it was also free. Basically, the way i have it understood is that they have to charge you for it but can credit it back, making it free in the end anyways.

heres my story, its both retentions and sero.

I had a mm5600 that got WSOD and a sanyo 8200 that the dog thought was a chew toy about 8 months back. Called retentions and got a M1 for 129 shipped, and motorazr v3m (red) 30 shipped. I upgraded my plan to powervision, and the retentions CSR said i couldnt get it for free anymore, but i would only pay 5 on each line. I figured well i have enough discounts might as well. Got the phones 2 days later. Called and got them activated. Then i decided i was going to try and switch to 2 seperate SERO plans. I called and talked to a CSR (first attempt) got both lines switched to sero plans, still have my 500 txt free on both lines, kept my numbers, and still have my 20% work discount applied to both lines. Now i just have to wait for my bill to come in and make sure everything is correct :D

I say just call in and ask to speak with retentions, say your phone/phones are broken and you hate to cancel but you really need a new phone, and you would stay with sprint if you could get a discount on a new phone. If they say they cant help you, say well im going to search around and see what the other carriers have to offer, thank them, and try again with a different rep.

After reading through most of the pages I decided to give it a shot. With much luck i managed to switch over all my 3 lines to indevidual sero lines each with the 500 minute plan(I kept the same numbers). It was great, I thought it was going to be much harder but I was very nice and said hello, how are you doing, had some small talk and withing 30 minutes everything was fine. I had to do a 2 year contract which didnt really matter. I got to keep my 10$ unlmt text, so said the rep. He said he would have it take place at the start of my next billing cycle in order to not to interfere with my current plan. Should be smooth sailing from here(I Hope! )

I'm currently out of contract and have looked at the plans on the SERO site, but have a few questions I hope someone can answer.

1. I'm looking at getting the Q (which is available for purchase on the SERO site), but have noticed in the details of the plans that it is not included in the listed phones. Is this anything to be concerned about or is it just an oversight/outdated?
Power Vision(sm) Phones available: Samsung A940, Samsung A900, Sanyo MM-9000, Sanyo MM-7500

Sprint PCS Vision(sm) Phones available: LG VI-125, LG PM-225, Samsung VI-A820,Sanyo VI-2300, LG PM-325, Samsung PM-A840, Sanyo MM-8300, Samsung MM-A880, PalmOne Treo 650
2. I currently receive a discount through my employer. Will this still be applicable to a SERO plan, or is it a one-or-the-other kind of offer?

3. Is there any potential backlash from signing up online using 'holiday@sprint.com' or an actual employees name without their prior consent? Basically, will it ever be questioned or raise any flags? (I don't know if employees are notified of people that sign up through their name.)

4. I currently have an old grandfathered vision plan that is $10 for unlimited web, messaging and pic mail. What, if any, are the differences between my current vision plan and the vision plan included with SERO?

5. If I utilize this method, will the site know I am renewing/re-upping my contract, or will it try to treat me as a completely new customer and try to give me a new number, account, etc.?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Regards

Good question, I can try to tackle them. Any veterans out there feel free to correct me.
1) I believe any phone capable of internet connection will do.
2) It's really hit or miss if you can keep your employee discount. Officially, you have to loose the discount but some people seem to slip by and keep their employee plus loyalty discounts. I will all depend on how nice the rep you speak to is- and how nice but persistent you are.
3) I think the only black lash would be is if you "Googled" some random Sprint email and us it. That would raise a flag and may drop you from Sero.
4) The free Sero Vision plan should be the same.
5) If you renew your plan, you may need to call a rep. I think the site is set up for new plans only. Also there are many threads on trying to keep your old number. Once again it's hit or miss- see #2.

Hope that helps and someone please correct me if I'm wrong. :)

Here's my SERO story:

I called retentions yesterday as 1 of my 2 lines was out of contract and told them I loved Sprint but I wanted a smartphone and Verizon had some deals on the Q. The nice rep asked Verizon's price, I said $99, and she instantly said she would match it and send the phone out and waive the activation fee. Then I told her that I needed a data plan and really wanted to switch my family plan to 2 individual 500 min sero plans since they have unlimited data. She said no problem, but said that I couldn't activate a SERO account until I had PowerVision-capable phones (?). She then noticed that the other phone on my account was not PowerVision capable and without too much bargaining she said that she would send me a RAZR to replace it as well (which my wife LOVES since its red, just like her old 8300). I asked her to make notes on my account regarding the plan changes, which she did.

My phones arrived THIS MORNING! I was shocked but happy. I activated both of them on the spot and then had to get transferred to retentions for the plan change, as the regular rep said they didn't have access to SERO plans. The retentions rep asked me a few questions, looked up the notes on my account and, after about 20 mins on hold, told me that he had switched to the individual SERO plans I requested and that they were active immediately. He also said that I lost my employee discount, since it wasn't available for SERO customers. (I'll have to call back and try to get it added later!).

I just wanted to thank everybody in this forum for their helpful information. Thanks to these forums, I got 2 new phones for a total of $99 and lowered my bill from $95 to $60 a month--and have more minutes plus unlimited data! You guys rule! And for those of you who want to switch to SERO plans, keep trying--it can still be done, but I think only by retention people as I got denied 7-8 times by regular reps.

Great story. As for getting your discounts added, it's hit or miss, as your not supposed to have them with SERO but some people still get it

JT- good to hear that people are still being able to switch to SERO and keep their numbers.
Keep us updated on whether you get your discounts put back on.

He may not be able to get it back. The rep may have made a notation on it.

I just tried my luck getting SERO. It turned out to be no luck. I first got ahold of someone named Alex, and asked her about SERO, and promptly got disconnected. I called back, and got Candice in Idaho and she told me there's no way to switch over without going through the inphonics website. I had her transfer me to retentions and I talked to some lady who was hard to understand, and I explained to her that I didn't want to have to cancel my account and start over with a new phone number, and she told me still that there was no way that she could do it. I told her I knew people who were able to get switched over and keep their numbers and stay on the same account, but no luck. I spent about 45 minutes on the phone. Any suggestions? I want to get the SERO 500 plan. My contract ends in May 2007. I've been with Sprint since 2002. Right now I have 300 AT, N&W 8PM, unlimited texts, PV, PCS2PCS, and I pay about $50/month. I really want to get the SERO plan! I've read almost all 427 or so posts on this forum and still am not sure of the most sure-fire method of getting what I want. Any help guys?

I don't think there is a sure-fire way. I had thought that the Idaho center was the one to get, but I think it's really a matter of who you get.

All I can suggest is try again, maybe a different times? Also I've been reading that they are really trying to crack down on porting numbers into Sero, but it can be done.
Good luck.

yeppes off...

it is really hit and miss in getting any SERO Plan.

when I tried many months ago- I kept getting well you can but you will lose your phone number or you can't do that... I think the best time to call is in the late evening or you can always contact E-Care.

I am so glad I finally got SERO 500... kept same phone number... kept all three discounts... Now I am bummed that my newly activated Treo 700wx is going to
have a new Treo 755p arriving on as Sprint E-Care says... for competitive reasons,
we cannot provide you (me) with the exact date of launch of this phone- But she
did tell me- she understands my concern since I just got the phone activated on
March 1st- but she is willing to let me exchange the phone for the Treo 755p- if it
is released within the next two to three months- I know 30 days is the policy but
she will give me up to 3 months- and if it is released in that time- I just have to pay
the difference between Treo 755p vs. Treo 700wx pricing.

Good Luck with SERO- I for one won't be leaving Sprint for quite awhile with SERO- they have had me since 1999 and with the rates I am paying now... for alot more years.

I called at 1130pm and didnt have a problem switching, I actually changed my mind before he put it through (decided my new retention plan was much better for me than SERO) you just have to get the right rep, keep trying, if one says no, hang up and try again!!!

With your contract being up soon, I would suggest calling retention to work out a plan that is similar to SERO.

Are you paying for all the extra services on your account? See if you can get one or two of those services for free or discounted. Getting discounted PV and free pcs2pcs could save you $15. That would knock your monthly cost down to $35. It is not quite SERO but it would be pretty darn close. You may even be able to get a loyalty discount to take a few more bucks off. If I were in your situation, I would go this route.

I pay $30 for the plan, $20 for PV, $8 for unl. text, and $5 for the pcs2pcs. I have several discounts that drop my total bill to about $50.50 a month. At some point I'll try calling back and working on getting the 500 SERO, and yeah, I may have to wait until my contract is up to have any leverage. My hope is that I can just find a sympathetic CSR who's nice and willing to look at things from my persective. It's really annoying that there's not really a good way to port the numbers accross. I did read somewhere on here about switching the number to another carrier temporarily, and then switching back as a "new" customer. I'm on an account with my parents and brother, so I would be able to come back into the same account under them. Or, when my contract is up, I can just call Sprint and tell them that I want to switch to another carrier unless they can give me the same deal as the SERO 500, and throw in free unl. texts. I'd feel alot more confident knowing that at that point I could afford having them "call my bluff" about dropping Sprint. Either way, I'd still be able to get the SERO 500 (I think !!!).

Wow, it's good to hear that people can:
1) still get SERO without loosing their number and
2) keep their discounts.

Good Work.

I was concerned that because my SERO start date and my 22 month anniversary were both 4/1 that I would have trouble getting phone upgrades since SERO 500 is less than $35. I decided to call retention before the plan started to see what would happen. I was interested in a couple of Razrs. The CSR stated he would go ahead and give me the $150 credit for each line which would make the Razrs $99. Their website shows $79 with another $50 rebate making total $29. The CSR told me that was for new customers. After a short time, he almost prompted me and asked if I had been looking elsewhere. Of course I said I had and he quickly told me he would do the online price with rebates being instant and no shipping or activation. All told, I got a normal razr and red razr for just under $70. Thanks for everyones input.

I'm not sure if this was answered or implied anywhere- but can I try to switch to sero and keep my phones? I just got a TReo in January 2007.

Sorry if the question is too obvious- it's 0142AM where I am :indiff:

I just called and said i was interested in signing up for the Sero plan. I had no problem at all. She just asked me if I wanted it to take effect immediately or the next billing cycle. Was it supposed to be this easy?? I just signed up with Sprint about 2 weeks ago, maybe thats why.

I just called customer service...

Been lurking on the forums for a while, and have been reading multiple posts about SERO. I want to know if it will work for me.

I hate making a generic "will you help me" post, but all my post searching (and cutting & pasting into my own files for research) aren't helping me as much as I would like.

I am currently with Verizon. I have a Treo 650 and NO DATA plan. The $45 a month just seemed too steep. My wife is also with me on Verizon and she just has a basic phone. We currently have a 500 minute shared family plan with text messaging added in. I would like to upgrade to something that would allow me to play with the internet and email.

Will SERO allow me to come over from Verizon and get a 700p and my wife a basic phone and allow me to have INTERNET & EMAIL access. I don't mind paying for a bump in cost for txt messaging. that is fine.

Will I have to sign a 1 year or 2 year agreement? I have been trying to avoid that as I am keeping my fingers crossed that a new slimmer, cooler Treo will come out in the next year or so and I would like to stay free enough to switch to whatever carrier gets it. but if I can get a good deal through Sprint, then maybe I won't care.

I was going to try and pick up phones through Ebay and then activate them on Sprint and get the SERO plan. Will that work? Should I just go in to a store and get a phone? Will I get a better deal? Should I get SERO for me and then a DIFFERENT plan for my wife since she doesn't need DATA?

I've been confused and haven't seen enough info in my posts to help me find a clear answer.

Here is a quick run down of my questions (to give a summary)
1. SERO has UNLIMITED DATA correct? (it says "unlimited" web, right?)
2. Do I have to sign a contract to get it? (2 years for new customers, right?)
3. Can this be done in store, or must it be done at the website? CS can't help me since I'm not a CURRENT customer, correct?
4. I don't have SPRINT phones yet. Get them on ebay or in store? (from their w
