Can anybody explain to me what exactly SERO is... in idiot proof terms?

SERO = Sprint Employee Referral Offer, I think.
It's a discounted, many-things-included plan that is available to friends and family of sprint employees.
Last I checked, there were two plans that differed only in the number of included minutes.
I'm on the $30 SERO plan. For $30/month, I get 500 anytime minutes, unlimited night/weekend minutes starting at 7:00PM, unlimited power vision, unlimited text messages, unlimited mobile to mobile... The plan details change every so often, but I think that's the most current.
Here's the SERO plan I'm on:
SERO F&F 500- $30.0
Plan Features:
Sprint Fair & Flex
Caller ID
Adjustable Anytime Minutes
Call Waiting
Three-way Calling
$30.00 Minimum Monthly Charge
Voicemail
Nationwide Long Distance Included
Unlimited Night & Weekend Mins. Included
Nights: M-Th 7PM-7AM Wknd: F 7PM-M 7AM
Unlimited Mobile to Mobile (pcs to Pcs)

If you're out of contract and you have a sprint employee's email addres for your referral, you can simply apply for a new SERO line on their website. Then if you're approved (after credit check and all), you can cancel your OOC line and keep the SERO line. That's what I did. Some people have been successful getting their numbers ported over from their OOC when they cancel it. Others have run into more trouble. For me, I applied for the SERO line about three months before my other one was going to go OOC, and then I used those three months to make sure all my contacts had my new number.
You also generally get better deals on the phones by opening a new line than by signing a new contract on your old line, so whatever they offer on a new Touch with a new 2 year contract is probably as good as you are going to do.
Maybe other people have some other ideas to add.

You said it. You really won't be able to get a better "deal" on a phone if you are keeping you old line, they will just give you more credit. I did that and didn't have bill for 3 months! :headbang2

Thanks to everyone who contributed how-tos on the SERO plan. Not even sure how I stumbled upon it, but this is gonna save us $100/month or more vs. our VZN plan. Plus, I got a cool new toy (Touch)!
I used savings@sprintemi.com as the email and 50BACK. Went through slicker'n grass through a goose. Got my phone in less than 30 hours - ordered around 1 PM yesterday and it was waiting at home when I got here. Probably would have gotten it sooner if I'd had it sent to work. Thank goodness UPS didn't need a siggy :headbang2:
This will be interesting. A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away, I used to run a phone room who took 3rd shift & weekend sales calls for Sprint (back before there was wireless - hey, I SAID it was a long time ago...).
Anyway - good luck to those still trying to get SERO.

Well, I tried to call yesterday and add another line to my Sero account. I was told that I couldn't because I didn't have a valid sprint employee email address. I tried to use the savings@sprintmi.com, but told me they wouldn't except it. They suggested I call a sprint store and ask an employee for an e-mail. I tried that except nobody would let me use theirs. Now I'm stuck trying to find one.. Any suggestions?

I'm so upset with sprint right now. I did everything with the savings@sprintmi.com address and they did a credit check and then wouldn't accept my credit card saying it wasn't valid (I tried several different cards that are all valid)! I called and they said that that address won't work anymore. Ah, this is so frustrating!

As far as I know they dont verify with the employee right then... but when the do audit on your phone account, probably thats when they check your reference. For details, see this old thread...

Man, same here. It seems harder now to get savings@sprintemi.com to work now. I tried last night and talked to a handful of Sprint representatives and hope they can get me through with this general address, but NO go. They said I have to have a valid sprint employee email address and suggested me to talk to some of them to get one. Oh man, then I really talked to 5 or 6 of them and asked for it, but they all said "NO". Probably the only luck left is to try that in a sprint store. Don't know how it will go. Will give it a shot and report later. Good luck to myself!

because for a sprint employee at a store to give you there e-mail they lose out on a potential sale (and the commission that comes with that).
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
and j1217 that method will work, but its not an honest way to do it, and i will advise against it in case they do audit you.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
and on another note....
this is the final warning for anyone and everyone. asking for sero e-mails is not permitted and from here on out points will be issued, those of you whose posts were deleted know who you are. read the stickies in the future please.

Hey guys, just wanted to let you know about my SERO experience.
I've been with Sprint since 2001, my last agreement ended over the weekend, so I've been trying to get the SERO 500 minute plan added to my account.
I e-mailed eCare asking for the SERO 500 minute plan, any activation fees waived, and $250 off of an HTC Mogul and it was accepted, they said the only thing that would happen is that I needed a new number and I was OK with that.
So I tried calling Sprint referencing the eCare e-mail and they transfered me to account maintenance (or something). I got a supervisor by the name of Monique who asked me to fax a copy of the e-mail to her (that's right, fax her a copy of an e-mail). I did so, and she got back to me (left me a voice mail) saying that the e-mail says it's only for "new customers." However, just two lined below that it says that existing customers can sign up for it, but require a new number (guess she didn't read that far).
Anyway, to make a long story short - I was promised SERO by eCare and turned down by the phone reps. They asked me for employee e-mail addresses and I told them I did not have one, only a promotional e-mail address, but that I was promised the SERO plan without needing any extra information.
UPDATE:
While I was typing this out, I was trying to get in touch with that supervisor Monique. They couldn't get in touch with her, so the rep on the line asked if she could try and help me - I agreed. She took about 5 minutes to review the notes on my account and also talked to her supervisor. She informed me that she could migrate my current account (and phone number) to the SERO plan, effective today.
So after 10 e-mails, 1 fax, 1 voicemail, and 8 calls to CSRs/Supervisors I was able to get the SERO plan.
This was almost as bad as trying to negotiate a good deal on a car.

Can someone with experience comment on my plan to go to SERO?
So my contract expires June 17th, and it's a bastardized plan that is 6 years old and I had to fight like heck to keep my $10 vision and free add-on 2nd phone 2 years ago when I upgraded to EVDO devices (no evdo service in vermont back then!).
So I'm thinking it's easier to just open NEW SERO acount and cancel the old phones. Rather than go through an upgrade, fight to keep my plan again, and inevitably sprint will screw up my bill and I'll spend hours on the phone arguing with them (like telling me I can't use the old $10 vision with the new EVDO phones!). Or I guess I could beg them to port my existing numbers to SERO also.
So, I'm ok with getting new phone numbers if need be. The current contract is in MY name with 2 phones (one for the wife). If I just go ahead and get 2 SERO new lines in my WIFE's name from the web-site (here in May), and just call in to cancel my current account come June... would that work? any forseen problems with that plan? They won't tell me the same household isn't allowed to get new lines and cancel old ones if I'm out of contract will they?

For your friend, the absolute best, stress-free way of getting SERO is to go into a Sprint store, talk to a rep about switching over, and asking them for a business card and asking if it is ok to use their e-mail for a SERO account. I think they'd ok with it and would be happy to snag a customer away from another carrier.
Trying to use the expired promo e-mail addresses or some of the more commonly used employee e-mails are hit-or-miss, from what I've read on the forums here.
Sometimes the SERO website will let you through when you use an expired promo e-mail or commonly used e-mail, but they seem to be cracking down on it and checking all information that you submit.
So if your friend wants to take his chances with an old e-mail, then go for it. The best way though, is to go to your local Sprint store and talk to the employees there.
EDIT: Also, ask around your group of friends and family and see if they know anyone who works for Sprint who'd be willing to share their e-mails. Sorry, I just read the previous posts on a different page about how store reps are unwilling to give out their e-mails.

Hmm I always just did a google search for "@mail.sprint.com" and just started plugging them in till one worked (I have everyone but my dad on SERO now he is still with verizon)
Does this not work anymore? we got REALLY lucky as I got in on the unlimited texting and the rep very kindly retroed this to all our other accounts!! NICE :-) Damn I love those $25 referral cards :-) I can usually get both too just by saying hey I am getting you this great deal let me have the card for my effort (sister brother mother :-)
Update - Yup just tried it. Jumped to page 11 of search results (page one results all failed) and first one I tried worked a treat.
Looks like they are offering unlimited texting again till may 31st!

My fun right now is that I have a friend who works for Sprint. I used his e-mail address and was able to browse the SERO site, but now that I've decided to actually switch, it says that his e-mail is invalid. I e-mailed the SERO people and they said that he had to verify his e-mail address, the only thing is that he lives and works for Sprint in Kansas but we're both in the reserves and he is currently in Pensacola, FL for training before going to Iraq... I asked him about verifying his e-mail and he said that he couldn't because he doesn't have access to the VPN... nice, I've told Sprint and so far they've just kept insisting that he verify his e-mail. I really want to switch before the end of May too so that I can get the unlimited messaging. Any ideas?

If you are close enough to your friend ask if he knows someone that he is close to at Sprint that you could call and explain the situation to and get their email?
Don't push it though -- :td: I am sure your friend has plenty on his plate getting ready to go to Iraq.

I'm just going to call Sprint today and tell them that if they can't make this work I'm gone, and I know not to threaten unless I'm ready to leave but with this and everything else, I am definitely ready to go if they are completely unwilling to work with me.

I currently have two lines sharing minutes on Sprint, and both are out of contract by several months. I want to upgrade my phone to the Curve, leave the other phone, and put both lines on separate SERO bills. Being that I'm OOC, I read that I'm eligible for SERO, but I don't want to have to change my number on either line.
I've tried a couple of times calling retentions, but have gotten the run around saying to do it online. At this point, I know I haven't done a whole lot, but it seems like the reps just don't know anything about the plan without having to put me on hold and look it up.
Does anyone have any advice on the best way to go from here?

You can not technically keep the numbers. Period. The only exception is an "exception" ie someone at sprint has to manually do it for you. I have NO IDEA how but my guess is your gonna sign up for new account and them move your numbers over and hose the old ones. I have no idea how that would work. Hopefully someone here can help out. With you being OOC I imagine they would be more than happy to work with you to seal you up for another 2 years :-)

you cannot port within sprint, the only way to keep your number and get a sero plan without getting the runaround, is to port your # to another carrier, such as a pay as you go service like tmobile to go or a att go phone, then signup for a sero plan and in that same process port the number away from the go phone to the sero account.

Hi, all. I've never heard of SERO until today. I was able to figure out what it is through reading posts but never could figure out what the perks are except you could get some good deals. I was able to somehow log on to the sero plan website but it seems that all prices seem same as the regular website. My plan expired already and want to upgrade to the new treo.
The rep offered to give me the Treo 770 for $150. I don't think that's the best deal. I was hoping the SERO website would have better deals but it actually had $199 price. What am I doing wrong and should I just walk in the Sprint store and see if I could get a better deal???

The bettedr deal is NOT on the phone its on the PLAN. For example the $30 plan (yep thts $30 a month or just shy of $36 with taxes and crap) gets you 500 any minutes 7-7 N&W M2M Pic Mail and Texting and Internet unlimited included.
Thats over $90 at regular plan prices!! Who cares about the cost of the phone when you can get a PERMANENT price decrease on your monthly bill like that! in a single month you will have saved more over the $150 phone on a regular plan.
for $50 a month plus taxes you can get 1250 minutes if you need that many. but remember texting 7-7 M2M Pic Mail Internet is ALL included and unlimited.

Wow, finally a email that you can use without having to do anything "shady." What are the chances I could get into the Sero plan if I just renewed- like just last month? But have two lines- my wife and my own???
Called into Sprint last week to discuss a totally unrelated issue.
My phone was screwed up during a repair by my
3rd party insurance company.
So the nice REP was trying to find a way to get me
a phone at a discounted price.
She was trying to add a line of service on my account.
1st line at no additional cost per month.
BOOM then she realizes I am on a SERO plan.
O well it was a very nice try from the sweet lady.
Its very hard for me to find a knowledgeable, compassionate
representative at sprint for some reason.

What do I do now?
Wed- ordered through SERO on web that went through OK
Thurs- received email saying to call Sprint; was told order canceled because I already have an account; then I emailed order to Sprint SERO asking them to set up account and that new numbers were OK
Fri- Got an email from "SERO Team SERO Program" which instructed me to "contact SERO telesales to establish your SERO account with new numbers. I did and was told another account could not be set up. She suggested I go back online and add two SERO plans to my existing account. If that worked, I would have four lines and would then of course cancel the original two. Will this work? Thanks.

JRI,
I was in the same boat when I wanted to go SERO with my phone, being a current Sprint customer.
I managed to keep my number, and get SERO, but it did take me about 15 hours of phone/hold time. It depends how persistent you want to be, and who you call.
Technically, everyone here is right, you cant get the plan.
What I did was that I had to sign up for a new line of SERO service. Then I technically had two phones. I then asked Sprint to change the number on my first line, which was OOC already, but to keep a hold on it. Once they put a hold on the number, it stays with your account for 14 days or something like that. I then made a request to have that number back, and put it on my SERO line. I then canceled the OOC line.
In the end, I kept my account with Sprint, but got a new phone with the old number. It took a lot of calling, and I would say talk to the tech department, NOT customer service if you can. They were much easier to deal with, and were more than willing to help me out whenever they could.
Good luck.

For name@boostmobile.com (or john.smith@boostmobile, etc), there isn't a problem with Sprint finding out about the fake address and knocking you out of your SERO plan? I was getting ready to add 2 lines Friday, but the email address I have has "reached its referral activation limit".

Wouldn't lying about the referral be a breach of that contract?
I suppose the real question is, has anyone been booted for this? I did a quick search for "audit" in the SERO forum and couldn't come up with a solid case of this happening. Like has it actually happened to anyone (not your sister's roommate's ex's favorite barista)?

No the e-mail gets you into the site nothing more. You have signed NO contract up to this point. The contract occurs AFTER you enter the site and sprint approves your credit etc.. IE read your contract. :-)

So I went to the mall and talked to a Sprint rep. He gave me his card, and of course, it has his email address on it. SERO never came up in conversation, so I don't really have permission to use the address. Would he be notified if I used it? This feels a bit wrong.

Just got in a plan better than SERO.
I called *2 and told them I was within my 30 days of a new plan and was supposed to get the SERO plan from the rep that sold me my phone, they transferred me to the business office and the overly nice gentleman on the phone said he had a plan better he could put me on. He did not want to lose a customer over not getting what I was told I would get.
700 minutes - unlimited text/web/picture mail - n/w 7-7 - and unlimited M2M for $15.00 a month WOOT!! So with the insurance it comes out to less than the $30.00 a month for 200 less minutes. :headbang2 :headbang2
ONE phone call is all it took me luckily
Now I can use my savings to become a premium member :hee:

I am a current customer with sprint. shared plan with my wife. can I sign up for 2 sero plans, cancel our current shared plan, and use the same phones that i have? I've read that I cant port my numbers. do i have to have new equipment? will I get an additional charge for ending the one contract and opening another?

OK so after reading through the forums more (thank you all for being so helpful) and hearing the wife tell me alot to call and ask for confirmation of this "too good to be true plan" I did so, when the lady named Cindy I spoke with in retentions looked at my account she told me the only things I was getting for the $15.00 a month was 750 minutes. no web no text no anything else like I was promised! :frustrate . I am tired of being lied to by Sprint so I fired off an email to ECare and if they cant help me get this resolved I and my wife are taking our 4 lines (on 2 seperate accounts) elsewhere. This is rediculous and just may be time to contact the BBB

Thinking things over. I don't know if going with SERO is better or staying with my current plan. Doing the math, I think staying with my regular plan gives me advantages over SERO, so why is everybody trying to get SERO? Why not boost up your existing plan?

500 any minutes. 7-7 N&W Unlimited pic mail Unlimited Internet Unlimited Texting Unlimitd Mobile to Mobile.
At regular plan prices last time I checked this is almost $100 ($40 plan (less than 500 minutes) $15 texting $25 internet pic mail $5 MtoM Plus taxes (nothing to scoff at when your over $80 Used to be more for 7pm N&W when I signed up but I think 7-7 is in all plans now.
My current sero plan is $30 plus taxes (usually $5.40 to $5.60 (no idea why it fluctuates)
so I pay a total of just under $36 per month. There is no plan from sprint on the regular menu even close to that?
What plans are you comparing it to? maybe its not such a good deal if your using a lot of minutes. I hardly even use even half my minutes so 500 is plenty for me.

So, from reading around on here a little, it sounds like some people are getting kicked out of their SERO plans after they sign up. I used an email that I grabbed from the Sprint Store and bought my phone Friday morning, itll get here Tuesday morning. Does the employee that i used the email from have to manually approve it or is it just automatic? Im gunna kinda be up a creek if I get denied : / How will I know if/when they turn my sero account into something else?
nerys
05-25-2008, 11:16 PM
you can not be "kicked" out of sero and "end up" in another account. Thats illegal. IE there only option is an outright cancellation of the order. They can not alter the terms of the contract like that just because :-) IE its a contract.
FYI I just looked it up. Based 450 minute plan is still $39.99
but it looks like thats where it stops. They have a new "regular" plan now for $69.99 that is the same as the "Unlimited Everything" plan but with only 450 minutes and it really does come with everything
"Unlimited mobile internet and messaging: Web surfing, email, GPS Navigation, Sprint Music, Sprint TV®, BlackBerry® Internet Services (BIS), text, pictures, video"
$89 for 900 minutes but thats silly since its only $10 more for unlimited.
Even still for the vast majority of people the $69 plan is unlimited since with M2M Nights at 7pm and free texting (and everything else) 450 will prove to be more than enough.
If you only need pics/video/text there is $49.99 plan too.
NOT bad very very competitive!
Still not even close to the sero plan though. The closest is the $69 450 everything plan it DOES give you slightly more (sprint music and TV and GPS) but those are very very minor things to most people. I get a much better music TV selection streaming my own junk via orb :-) My Plan is exactly half that cost WITH tax and you have yet to factor in the at least $10 in taxes they will toss into that $69 plan.

Hi all,
I have read through this thread for a while and I could not find a similar situation. I have a family of 5 members and I am currently on a 5-member family plan with AT&T. This costs me $150 a month. Is it possible to get SERO for 5 individual lines under the same credit card / account / ssn? I only see people posting on the thread with 2 lines at most. Is there a reason for this? Thanks, in advance.

Once you get SERO, you can usually find a rep that will change the rest of your lines to the same plan. With 5 lines, it might be better to try Sprint and within 30 days, go to cancel and speak with Retention. It would be better to get something with more minutes shared than spending $150 before taxes and overages on a SERO plan.
I ordered 3 lines for my mother-in-law through the SERO website. It came out to much cheaper than they paid a few days previous, just walking into the store. Once they were recieved, they just had 200 incoming mins for 30 bucks each phone. After speaking with Sprint for at least 2 hours, I finally got a person in Retention that helped me out a bit with the account. Instead of paying a bit over $110 a month after taxes for 3 separate SERO lines, he gave me 1500 mins shared with everything included (same features as SERO) for ~$88 after taxes. Add on her employee discount and she is now paying about ~$80 bucks a month instead of ~105-ish. They also don't have to worry about anything happening by getting a SERO plan "incorrectly." :headbang2

Hi all,

Most people were paying close to $60.00per month or more for 1 standard line. So when they see what SERO offers they know that its such a good deal that they take 2 lines instead of one. After taxes you pay $71-$72.00 for 2 SERO lines.

All,
I have been religiously keeping track of SERO on fatwallet.com and need guidance about something. I am stuck in a verizon wireless contract until about January and was okay with that because I am waiting on the HTC Diamond... GORGEOUS phone, can't wait until it comes out. Anyway, I've heard rumors that SERO will be ending June 15th, 2008. Is this true?? I now see that supposedly free texting will be ending June 15th, but I hear that they use this ploy all the time to get new subscribers. I have a genuine email address from my cousin's husband, so I am not afraid not afraid of giving a fake email. But now I'm afraid SERO will be ending. Should I get in early with a phone that I don't want even though I still have a contract with Verizon???

Well, everytime I called in they told me a different story about the SERO. Either it could only be done online or I couldn't port my numbers or it wasn't a shared plan(duh) or the person didn't know about it. So I finally called in and said that I was a bit fed up with hearing so many different answers to a question. I had been a semi-long time customer (5 years) and had paid pretty large bills and I wanted to get SERO because I knew others who had gotten it without having to change their numbers. The lady said hold just a minute. She came back and converted my shared family plan to 3 Sero lines. I went online a short time after and confirmed that indeed my plan had changed. So it just takes a bit of persistence. Funny thing, I had asked a few times to instead try getting a mirror plan to the SERO, but that seemed even harder to get than SERO. If you can get a mirror plan, go for that instead as you will be able to get a loyalty discount on that.

I have a 10% loyalty discount on my SERO plan. I got sent a letter in the mail saying if I renewed I could get the discount, and it was sent by Sprint after I had signed up for my new plan. I sent a scan to the customer service rep (they requested it) and that was added onto my account the next day.
I know thats the exception and not the rule, but that sorta thing seems to happen all the time with Sprint...

SERO is ONLY supposed to be able to be through the website, is supposed to only be for new lines, and if you wanted to keep your number then you need to port into SERO. That agent violated a number of policies, and can easily be termed for it.
Aside from the fact that you feel entitled to SERO just because someone you knew had it, doesn't mean you are. SERO is for employees to refer people to, not for customers to call up and demand. That agent went well (miles) out of her way to do that for you, even risking her job. There is a reason you were told the things you were, because that's what they are, and employees generally don't like getting in trouble to do things for customer just because they feel they are entitled.

I hate when people use words like ENTITLED as if it was a negative. I am a living sentient human being. I am "entitled" to anything I want. Thats the nature of free will.
NOW if I also want to live in a society it would be a good idea to temper my wants with rules and for most also a set of principles.
Personally I think I am "entitled" to try and get the best deal I can.
The objective of a consumer it to get as MUCH as possible while paying as LITTLE as possible. The objective of a for profit business is to give as little as possible for as high a price as possible.
When there is a proper balance of rules principles and fair play we find a balance somewhere in the middle.
If a customer can GET something from a company that is non standard as long as there was no violations of decency and principles and law involved I say GOOD for the consumer they did there job fantastically.
I too was offered the 10% to renew. TWICE (they called my phone) I turned it down. 10% is only $3 savings no more than $36 per year (its 10% off the principle only not the taxes etc..) To me $36 was not worth another year "tied" into a contract. I have been with sprint for over 10 years now IIRC and I have no plans on switching or canceling but I want that "option" at my disposal without consequences (ETF etc..)
If you want me to renew a contract you need to offer me more than $3 a month. THAT has nothing to do with entitlement that has to do with its MY money and therefore MY perogative.
Fundimentally consumers should always have more power and control than businesses. There is a difference between YOU offering ME something and me deciding to get it or not and ME coming to you and ASKING you to make me something.
If corporations want my life (my money IS in fact my life since I had to literally trade a chunk of my life for that money)
You bet I am "entitled" its MY life and I will be the one to decide how I spend it :-)
No I do not have the right to FORCE someone to meet my terms but if I ask and they GIVE them to me. Well thats a PLUS for me I did a good job :-)
I was contemplating canceling service a year or so back. While I did love it the fact remained I really did not use it "that" much (this month I used 233 of my 500 minutes) and it was a drain on my finances at $76 a month
When I found sero that changed everything. This is a WIN for both me and sprint. I get to keep my phone and my data access at a price I can afford to keep even as a "luxury" item and sprint gets to keep getting some of my money they otherwise would have gotten none of.
Win Win all around :-)
I hate it when I see people COMPLAIN about other people getting additional bonuses.
There is ONE reason and ONE reason only why people gripe like that. Jealousy. They are UPSET that they too did not get that extra bonus or whatever so they take it out on and insult the one who DID get it.
Thats childish. As long as they did not defraud lie steal cheat etc.. to GET that bonus I say GOOD for them. THATS the way to be a proud effective consumer.
If you walk into a bank to get a loan and with NO mental issues at play they OFFER you an interest half what you were expecting are you going to say Hmm that seems like too good a deal unfair because many others can not get that? Only a moron would answer yes to that :-)

Wait 6 months.... Also, if you're resourceful or persistent then you might be able to keep your number unless your a customer with a different carrier. I assume you're with Sprint so I doubt it. I just changed my number because trying to fight to keep your number is probably more of a hassle then it's worth. One other thing some recommend is that you port your # to a prepaid, but this is also a waste of time. There are ways to do it and you might have more leverage by being OOC.

There is a reason you were told the things you were, because that's what they are, and employees generally don't like getting in trouble to do things for customer just because they feel they are entitled.
First of all, I didn't 'demand' anything from the agent. I simply told her about what others had been offered and how I was disappointed that I couldn't get the same. I didn't say 'I'm leaving this instant if I don't get my way'. I also didn't limit the request to only SERO but asked if she could get me something comparable. Second, technically speaking, the rep I talked to is the one in control. Regardless of what I 'demand' or ask for, the rep is the one who determines what I'm offered. That she risked her job to do so is not my problem as I did not have a gun pointed at her head or was not threatening to report her or anything of that sort. She could have told me either that she could not do anything or that she could not do anything without risking her job. Either way I would have politely thanked her for her time and simply hung up, as I did with the others I spoke to. And as to your accusation that I feel 'entitled' to something just because others have it, you are wrong. I don't feel I'm necessarily entitled to it, but I do feel I'm entitled to ask for something that others(quite a few) have received, especially since I am no $40/month 2 year customer. I have been with Sprint close to six years now and have paid large bills, upwards of $250-$300 a month, for those six years. So when I see people who spend less than me and have been customers less time than me get sweet deals or some sort of hook-up, I have no problem is asking for the same in the hopes that I might be acquiesced. I've paid my dues, so to speak, and hope that when I call in that will be acknowledged. Like I mentioned earlier, regardless of what I ask for, it is at the rep's discretion to grant my request or not

I concur with Masterpilot, excellent post and oh so true!:tu:

I've been doing research on the SERO plan and finally pulled the trigger today. At first, I tried doing it online using this e-mail address I found on google. However, I also wanted to apply the 50BACk ($50 off) code but was unsuccessful. So I called 1-888-882-4030 and talked to a very nice woman from Canada.
I was going to give her the e-mail address I have, but she said she didn't need because she has one for me already. Then I tried to ask for the $50 off, which she wanted to apply. However, the system would not allow her to do it because it said that the SERO plan is already heavily discounted. I believe she was genuine, but I am going to try e-mailing ecare once I get my phone to see if I can get $50 credited to my account. Anybody have luck with this? I also tried getting the any 3 option but she said telesales does not, not their department.
In the end, I got a Palms Treo with the SERO plan. I am pretty stoked about it though and looking forward to texting for free again. yay =)

nope it's not a waste of time, it took me only 3 days total in porting my 2 #'s over, purchased 2 GO phones last Wed, called that night to port over my 2 Sprint #'s then on Friday I called Sprint to port over my 2 #'s from the GO phones, 3 days total and kept my 2 existing #'s, well worth it if you want to keep your existing # :tu:
agreed. porting is a minor PITA, but totally worth it!! :D

when I see people who spend less than me and have been customers less time than me get sweet deals or some sort of hook-up, I have no problem is asking for the same in the hopes that I might be acquiesced.
I agree with this completely. As consumers of a product or service, we should always feel free and, if we're smart consumers, even obligated to try to receive the best prices on goods and services that we can get. That's just being a smart consumer. I hate finding out I'm not getting the best deal I could be on something. With our economy the way it is today, I can't afford to spend more than absolutely necessary on very many things.
On the other hand, I don't think "entitelement" is a positive quality. People who feel that they should be given something annoy me. I'll try my best to get good deals, discounts, etc. But I won't feel angry or cheated if I don't get something that's not clearly laid out in some policy. In other words, if I don't get a mail-in rebate that I've met the requirements for, I'm ticked. But if I can't convince a customer service representative to let me return my item past their 14 day return policy, too bad for me for waiting too long. Feeling that you deserve and should be given special treatment or considerations that you have not really earned and do not really deserve is kind of a trashy quality.
That being said, Sprint is obviously not overly concerned with the number of people attempting to get on the SERO plan. It's not a matter of entitlement. It's a matter of trying to get the best deal possible. If you can get on it without blatantly defrauding the company, why the heck not? It's not about being entitled to anything. It's about being savvy enough to get good deals extended to you. There's no need to hate on anyone who's able to get the deal.
