Ok, I finally went to the SERO site and put in all my information. I went to checkout after putting in all my information (security questions, PINs, etc) and I saw it start going through steps 1-5 and the screen went white. I've heard of issues on here like this but what should I do? I don't want to refresh b/c I don't want it to be charged twice.
Plus, I forgot to put in the URANG code. Is it too late for that? I don't even know if the order went through due to the stuff above.
I'm not stressing...yet. :)
Since CCs are instantly charged @real time of transaction, go to your CC's account management page and see if you had already been charged. If you get doubly charged call their toll-free (CC or bank) and let them know to be on the look-out. Initially, you'd see a Sprint charge for a few dollars, $1.25 and up, this is just to see if the CC is legit, it washes off a few days later, then you see the real charge for the device. And like Manic said above, also watch for any confirmation of order receipt by Sprint on your email... Good Luck...! :fingers:

As mentioned above, the price for the phone I recieved (from the SERO account), has gone down $100. I have called/been transfered over 5 times, trying to recieve this new price, but with no luck so far. I will be trying to get the new price tomorrow. So far one rep mentioned returning my new phone and starting again with the new price, which I consider a major pain in the a...As I will be starting to call order support again tomorrow, with my requests, do you, LRB, have any suggestions on how to get them to give me the instant $100 web special price? Or do you think I really have to go through the hassle of returning my brand new 2 weeks old phone back? TIA

After reading knightryda55's experience (http://www.sprintusers.com/forum/showthread.php?p=1523196#post1523196) porting an OOC number I figured I would post suggestions/experience too..
Not sure if it makes any difference but I am still on p2k..
The only number I called was 888-211-4727.. I would suggest not even mentioning anything about porting a number, they told me you can only port from another provider and you aren't technically porting your number anyway.
I got cut off after the porting discussion so I called back, said representative to get a human then asked to be transferred to cancellations. I explained that I had 2 plans, and I wanted to cancel the OOC plan with 7887 number but reserve the number then have it put on the sero plan to replace the 6814 number. Was told they couldn't gurantee I would get the number blah blah, and said okay well hopefully I do.. After holding about 5-7 minutes everything was done with no problems..
That's what makes this a forum, Manic, helping each other through sharing and posting our varied experiences on how a situation was handled and what had the outcome been. You'd be surprised what kind of an impact you leave others when you do so. With one course of action, although ultimately the same result will be achieved, I sit back and watch, and it is still amazing to see the different progression of the course it takes to achieve that result.
My hats off to those who take the time to share, they might not have any idea how they've helped one see the light, solve their problem and/or just get an answer to their question. That's what I meant when I said I'd like to see you raise your level of participation in the room. I appreciate that a lot...!!! So, keep it up...

Great Idea...! :thought: Why didn't I think of that...? It's good to consolidate all issues into 1 phone call. After CS, it's always a good idea to get transferred to Tech Dept just to make sure everything is functioning A-OK and still be on the phone/line other than the phone you're calling about.
Enjoy your new toy in good health, Knight in Shining Armor... that'll keep you pre-occupied for the weeekend... :wavey:

You are still under the 30 day, if they won't do it as you ask them nicely to adjust the difference (in a week?). Cancel... then re-do it...!!! Just make sure you already got the $115 credit... Keep me posted... !!!
Just extended old SERO exp 5/08 another 2yrs, so, before Halloween, I called in for another Loyalty Flyer credit (still on the P2K on that one but CS, Retentions, Telesales assured me all is on the up and up, that's why unlike my new SERO which is on the ensemble, I won't see a thing until after the billing cycle ends.)

I didn't have any pending charges on my CC and no email confirmations so it probably didn't take. I took a screenshot of the page anyway and the URL had "error" something in it. Trying again...and it was successful. I got the email confirmation and took screenshots of all the webpages containing the order and confirmation - just in case I need to send something to customer care.
So I'll wait for everything to simmer down, get my phones, start my 30-day trial and then try the porting when it's all said and done.
Thanks LiglyRichBich and Manic!

My contract ends Dec 30th. I am trying to decide if it is wiser for me to go with a SERO plan or try Retention and get a better plan. I have been with Sprint for 4 years. My current retention plan is as listed:
1500 Anytime Minutes $49.99
PCS to PCS Free
Nights and Weekends starting at 7pm Free after $5 off of bill
My plan has no texting and no Internet. I have never been late with a bill. I have heard Sprint is offering or will be soon--call any 3 numbers for free like Tmobile's MyFaves plan. Will SERO accounts be able to pick 3 numbers as well? Any input would be appreciated.

Check the order number online where you manage your account. Chances are , if you are still on the P2K on your OOCs that you might not see it. No harm in calling them back. Like I said, expect an email to confirm or a call from Websales since they might still need something required to complete the process. Keep your cool, you are armed. What you can do now, you can register this account online and if you see a different lay-out, you know you are on the new ensemble. You can create a new username and password. On the Billing Support, you can go to the order history, input the number and see what comes up. If there is any info on it, you could even see a tracking number and the name of the carrier. Most likely it's FEDEX or UPS, go to their site and track the device. Now, don't 4get to call Websales, just see what else they need. Keep us posted... We're rooting for you... :fingers:

Okay. So I didnt get a call back from the retentions operator after all..
I call back today and I spoke to a very cool female rep. I mention Sero and she says its a third party offer and that shes hesitant about referring people. Says she can do the unlimited text and data without a problem. So was able to get:
1000 mins shared
unlimited text
unlimited data
free roaming
m2m
nights at 7
FOR $40
plus
two centros for 162..and change
my previous plan:
800 shared
$5 for nights @ 7
m2m
no roaminf
no text
no data
and OLD PHONE! sanyo 8300( i think thats it)
I dont have the Sero plan but I was able to match it pretty closely. I didnt ask about a corporate discount because I didnt want to seem greedy. I guess I can email Ecare later and have them add it on.
Im a grown man and I couldnt feel less giddy!
Thanks Fellas!

But I already know, you are (SPECIAL)... Day is still young, so' I'd sit tight and relax, just watch that email and listen to that phone ring, and see what happens. No news is good news. This shouldn't be a problem for you, what happened here is that you are only allowed to have one account per social security number, however, you are allowed to have multiple lines of service under that one account, you just have to call CS and let them know that you want to add the new lines of service to your account, and that you arn't looking for a new account. You will then have to talk to a credit person to be approved for additional lines and then you should be all set.

BY the way while I was offered free text and data, I only it see it listed under my wife's phone details( on the web) Normal? I called and they said text and data are for both phones. THey also mentioned I didnt have nights and weekends?! ( but I see it under my phone details).

OK, I have a few questions. I have been with sprint about 5+ years but have been OOC since July. My phone is a 700p that I did NOT buy through Sprint, so no rebates or anything. But when I got it, they did re-set my rebate clock although I did not get ANYTHING from Sprint regarding this phone. AND, they activated it but did NOT tell me that activating it would reset my rebate clock. I found out about that AFTER the fact!
A co-worker has been with Sprint longer than I and is a real "negotiator." He was asking why I had not upgraded my phone, how much I was paying, etc. Since I have never been too good at bargining, he is calling for me and doing the negotiating. Haven't seen him since Thursday at work, will see him tomorrow.
After I left work last Thursday, I received the TEXT that I would be "migrated" this week, from 11/5 to 11/9. So if he did anything, he would have had to do it before today.
THEN...after being on this group for one year, I finally found out TODAY what SERO actually is. So my questions are:
1) If he has already negotiated a new plan for me, minus a phone (since I like my 700p,) if I find a SERO plan I like better, can I cancel the other plan and go with a SERO plan? If I did that, would it be just like starting a new contract on SERO?
2) If a non-Sprint customer (a friend) gets a SERO plan with a phone, will the $30 plan be eligible for the extra $100 rebate on some of the phones?
(I am trying to get her over from T-mobile.)
Thanks,

I'm not definite with my answers but as far as I know once you sign up with a new contract you have 30 days to change it. Anyway, I doubt there will be a better plan negotiated than a SERO plan. SERO would require a new line of service.
From my understanding the $100 rebate should go through. I'm sending mine out tomorrow. I think theres already a thread on this subject. I'm sure someone here will give you some more stable answers. Good luck!

Im going to get my dad who has been with Nextel for almost 10 years (yes liglyrichbich I still havent done it yet :() what I going to do is get him a SERO account.
I want to understand all I have to do it sign-up for SERO online then after I receive the new phone and activate it. This where I'm a little confused I dont understand the porting part do I port the new number to the OOC account then port the old number to the new phone and close the OOC account correct? And if I want to use his existing phone I just call Sprint after everything is done and just do an esn swap for the phones right?

HELP PLEASE !!!!
OK, I need some help. I think I really messed up.
I just opened two new SERO lines. The thing is, I got two lines under one account. Furthermore, I already have an existing OOC account so when I placed my order Ihad to call in and they told me they need to "link" the order to my existing account. I explained that I was going to eventually close that account but was keeping it open in order to migrate my phone number to the new accounts. They said no problem and put the order through. Here's where I realized my dilemma...
How do I get the $25 /$40 referral out of my new accounts?
I get my phones today and I don't know if I'm going to need to cancel and start over with two SEPARATE accounts (sorry LRB I goofed).

So I've skimmed through a pretty good chunk of this thread, and I figure I should probably just ask what I'm thinking. My contract is up in July, which is unfortunately still a good ways off. I read on the HoFo wiki that some people have had luck switching to SERO while still under contract, but it's difficult. Does anybody have any tips for me in attempting to switch to SERO? Should I try through ecare or the number? What should I say and/or do to try and make this happen? Or should I not even bother attempting? Thanks in advance...

Its very hard to do now most reps will tell you that you have to do it online but you can always try but I personally would wait until you got closer to your end of contract date.

How or where can I use the tracking # off the Order Status page? It doesn't say who is sending it out - FedEx, UPS, UPSP or someone else. I tried the tracking numbers on all three of the websites and they do are not valid.

I'm thinking of trying to contact ecare, but it would be foolish I think without a sprint e-mail. I also know that sending them the savings e-mail address would probably not work. Should I go to a Sprint store and ask 'em for a business card? Or could someone PM me one from here?
The reason I'm thinking of trying it right now anyway is because my wife and I are kicking around getting new phones, but I don't want to extend my current contract. The other option would be fleabay, but I'd prefer the Touch.
Worst case scenario, if I can't switch to SERO now I would probably get her an m610 (which is something of what she wants, more than anything else Sprint's got right now) and I would just wait until July to switch to SERO. Also helps that we'd be able to save about $50 a month on SERO over our family plan.

Quick question about minutes, etc. Please let me know if this should be posted somewhere else. Anyways, I answered a couple calls from another Sprint user today while I was roaming...just checked my account and it looks like it pulled those minutes from my Anytime minutes. Is this supposed to be the case? Everyone that I have called so far has been a PCS user and all my calls received were from PCS users, yet I have 18 minutes used from my 500 anytime minutes. Any clues?

I see a number of people have had success migrating their old numbers to the new sero line. I have a new question... If I ordered a Centro on Oct 31 and was given a rebate, the rebate form says to input the number of the phone I got... If i plan to migrate the phone to my old number, do I put that number or the new number?
Or can I avoid this all by asking for a further 100 credit since the price just came down?
Thanks!

What's funny is that it's incorrect information.
And I used tristen's email from buzzaboutwireless.com

I noticed a lot of reps are matching the sero perks. Its probably more of a hassle inputting codes, but thats what they did for me. (nevermind the fact that it took several calls to have them add the nights @ 7 which were missing)

I'll give you 2 of my PCS #s, you can use them... You get the $40, I'll send you back the $25. You can't refer yourself anyway, read the link I gave you on the REF Program. I't not yet too late... within the first 15 days of activation, you can dial #733 from your new device then follow the prompt... Email me if you'd wanna dot this so i CAN EMAIL YOU BACK MY PCS#s.

You DIDN"T GET THE SERO People get the SERO because everything is built in, no hassle every month re: billing errors, they added some features as perks that are charged and then credited to your account on a monthly recurring basis, then they also expire. On a SERO, you wouldn't have that problem since all those features are not perks but part of the plan.
Sorry couldn't be here online last night, so drop me back a pm and I'll tell you how to remedy it. YOU DON"T WANT MONTHLY HEADACHES :frustrate

Had an OOC account. Went online and placed my order on the SERO site on Sunday. Received an email confirmation, but then received a second email indicating they "needed more information" before they could process my order. Sure enough, this was because of my existing account. Calle Monday morning, and when I explained that it was OOC, they said no problem and put my order through. Got my phones last night (next day). I called to activate them and the first rep couldn't even pull up my account so I thought oh no, here we go... They transferred me to the wrong department once, but then got transferred one more time correctly. I spoke to a rep and gave him my existing account number and lo and behold, my phones showed up. I even logged on to my account online and there they were, and even better they were listed as SERO 500. Turns out the phones were already activated. Overall a very simple process.
One question. I tried to go through the referral process on the new phone, but the prompt indicated that my phone had been active for more then 15 days. How is that possible!? The only thing I can think of is that they've linked it to my existing account. Any help on this? (I've also read that SERO accounts are not eligible for the $25 / $40 refer a friend promo?).

My husband tried to sign up for sero twice and both times after he was at the credit screen he got a message saying the order cannot be processed please go to a sprint store to place the order. Does this make any sense?? I know he has a current collection account with sprint but heck my girlfriend has 2 and she just got a new line (non-sero) and I also have a current non-sero account and still got sero. Should he try to call in?

but my question is when i checked out and tried to use the URANG code it said it didnt apply to any items in my cart so i checked out. did it again later just to check and the code worked this time but i already placed my order so can i call in later and explain it to them and get the $50 credit??
also i work for kmart (sear holdings) and we get 25% off sprint so how hard will it be to get that applied to my new sero account??

I have a family plan that ooc, am switching to sero and would like to keep numbers. Although ooc, one of the phones is less than two years old, and so not eligible for the $150 rebate. If I activate two new lines with sero, cancel the account, ask to hold the old numbers, and then try port the numbers to the sero account, will I have a problem with the rebate (since one is not eligible though ooc).
Also, do I have to wait 30 days to try and switch the numbers b/c I would prefer not to pay for an extra month of service.

Hmm.. I'm not sure which screen this is but I remember trying to sign up clicking on the upgrade/replace phone option and recieved the same message. Maybe their servers are down? Try again later. If anything, it should be fine if you call and place an order as long as you have valid information to sign up for SERO.

Your phone should arrive the next or following day. You'll know for sure once it gives you your tracking info.
When I placed my order the URANG code went through but once I called to activate my phone I had to go through the application process again. I still haven't called back to ask them to apply the credit. I'll post when I do.
From what I've read Sprint will not apply any other discounts to an already heavily discounted plan SERO. BUT, there are some individuals who have some how managed to successfully get a rep to apply it on their SERO plan.
Good luck and be patient :fingers:

When applying for a SERO plan, it has to be a new line of service. You can't migrate the family plan into a SERO plan. What I would do is get the SERO line(s) first before cancelling your previous line(s). Then you can have a rep transfer your old number into the SERO account.
As far as the line thats not OOC goes.. I hope someone tackles that one for you.

I've read a lot of posts that seem to vaguely indicate that I can do this but I'd like to confirm:
I am currently OOC. I have been with sprint for 9 years.
I want to sign up for SERO but keep the number on my OOC line.
So I will order a new phone and new plan on a new line through the SERO website. When I get the new phone, I cancel my OOC line and transfer the number to my new line.
Questions:
Is it just that simple? Or is there going to be any delay before I can transfer the old phone number to the new phone line? Would it be simpler talking with retention instead of doing it online?
Also, having been with sprint for 9 years, do you think SERO is still the best plan or can I leverage some more perks on a regular plan?
Thank goodness, my Knight in shining armor is around and doing a great job helping new posters out... Thank you, Dahling...!!! I have seen some posts which seem to indicate I can do this but I just wanted to get a definite answer before I pull the trigger:
I am a 9 year sprint customer currently OOC.
I want to get a new phone and switch to the sero plan but keep my old number.
Can I sign up for the plan and phone on the SERO website and then cancel my OOC line and transfer the old number to the new line? Would it be easier placing all the orders with retention instead? If this does work, how long does it usually take to transfer the number?
If this doesn't work, I'll probably have to talk to retention and try to get them to "match" the SERO terms on my current plan.
Thanks for everyone's advice around here!

Retentions would definitely give you a somewhat similar or a SERO clone that would have perks added that you might not have on your old plan. Since the only sticky is migration of a current existing contract on an account, you are definitely a good candidate for SERO. Advantage? the unlimited features are almost all-inclusive as standard on the SERO, except "Premium"Services of course. It usually takes a matter of minutes to port your old number to the new SERO line. To help you maximize your savings as you ease into the SERO plan, drop me your email so I could send you the SERO Master Plan App which contains some sensitive private info needed to process your online application painlessly and more effectively....

Hi everyone, I read these forums on occasion and have found them to be very helpful so now I've finally joined. :)
How does upgrading a phone while in contract affect switching to SERO?
I'm nearly OOC, my contract expires January 5, 2008 and a customer service rep said I could get SERO at that point. However, my current phone's battery lasts for less than one hour of talk time among its other problems (like beeping loudly at my callers) and I'd like to upgrade to the HTC Touch.
I've been given an offer to buy the touch through eCare but if I upgrade my phone now, will that extend my current contract and mess up getting SERO in January? I know January isn't that far off, but my phone is killing me.
Ideally, if I can do the two birds, one stone thing, I'd take care of getting a new phone and set up SERO together. I'm guessing the prudent thing is to wait the whole thing out, but any advice is certainly welcome!

I'm in the same boat with desmoderin,
I've been with sprint for about 10 years now and I would love to change from my current plan to something a bit more up to date.
I currently have:
2500 Anytime Minutes
2 phone numbers but can have up to 7
Unlimited Night & Weekend Minutes
Nights: M-Th 8PM-7AM Wknd: F 8PM-M 7AM
Minutes Are Shared On This Plan
All Minutes Include Long Distance
Caller ID, Call Waiting
Three-way Calling
Voicemail
Additional Anytime Minutes $.40 Per Min.
Total Equipment Protection $7.00
Unlimited Sprint Mobile to Mobile Calling $5.00
Sprint PCS VisionSM Pack
This costs me 99.99 This was a rentention plan I received about 4 years ago.
I'm hoping to get the SERO 1250 with a - 15% loyalty and my nights and weekends starting at 6:00pm. But I want to keep one of my phone numbers.
Can someone please let me know how I would go about doing that? Or are there better options perhaps in the rention department that would allow me to keep 2 phonenumbers?

During the signup/activation of your SERO plan trying to get any other discounts will likely get your SERO app rejected..
As for keeping the phone number from an OOC line and using it on your SERO line you shouldn't have any problem.. After you get the new phone, have it activated on the SERO plan and have all that taken care of then you can use your old number to replace the number on the SERO line. Call the 888-211-4727 number from another phone, ask for cancellations and explain that you have 2 plans, and you want to cancel the OOC plan and reserve that number then use it to replace the number on the other plan.. They should be able to do it all in one call in a matter of 10-15 minutes, I posted my experience doing the same thing a couple pages back..
I would assume if they can reserve one number and put it on the sero plan they could do it with two numbers..

Since existing customers have to add a new line of service to get SERO you might be better off going with new option than upgrade/replace since the discounts are usually better..
Check my other post above about keeping your old #s, you will not need to wait 30 days to do it. I only had my sero line active about 4 days when I called to cancel my OOC line, reserved the number and used it to replace the # on my SERO line all in one call.

#733 no longer works from phones on the SERO plan. I've tried it on 4 different phones that recently activated under SERO. Please let me know if you have a way around this!
It takes forever, but it can be done... If done online, specifically from a phone nothing to do or linked from an old account with the same SS or TIN, it's do-able... I'd ask any CS I spoke to just to see if it was noted on hubby's newer SERO and they said since done online, it was automatic and had been noted, just had to be patient because 6-8 weeks could be more or forever...:p

How or where can I use the tracking # off the Order Status page? It doesn't say who is sending it out - FedEx, UPS, UPSP or someone else. I tried the tracking numbers on all three of the websites and they do are not valid.
Was that generated from an email confirm...? Contact ecare through your account management, they should give you a reply within the day. Or call Telesales or Websales, just follow the prompt and give them the order number.
They should be able to give you the right tracking and with whose carrier...

I'd like some advice form you experts. :)
My current contract expires in January 2008 and I'd like to switch to SERO. From what it sounds like my best option would be to wait 'til I'm OOC, then add a SERO line, reserve my current number, cancel the OOC account, and migrate my old number to the SERO line.
My problem is that my current phone barely keeps a charge and beeps loudly at my callers so I'd like to upgrade my phone now, but I'm concerned that an upgrade would extend my current contract and mess up my chance of getting on SERO in January.
Is there a way to get a new phone now and still get SERO in January, or ideally do the two birds, one stone thing and make both happen now?
Thanks!

I was just in the same situation. I found a new phone on Craigslist, and activated it. As long as you don't purchase a phone from Sprint, you are good to go.

Thanks for your help. Did you have any mail in rebates on the phones pending? If yes, were there problems with that? If no, anyone else have any experience with it?
I didn't have any pending but the rebate form says if you are porting a number put that number on the form not the temp number..

You could start working on your SERO now separately. Don't worry about UPGRADE CREDIT, If you do a 2 year anyway, to Purchase gives you more OIS (Online Instant Savings) Upgrade is based on the MSRP, so you lose out anyway... By the time January rolls in, you would have already tied all the loose ends on your would be OOC before closing it. Drop me a PM, How long w/Sprint, loyalties and discs generated, etc... along with your email.. You have to hurry, there's more goodies available now... they expire soon:lol:...!!!!

I have an ooc line and successfully got a new line with a centro on a sero500 plan.
I called today to cancel the ooc line and change the numbers. The rententions lady said she couldnt do it because it would just cancel the new plan. I told her then to cancel the ooc plan and just reserve the number (figuring Id do it in two steps). She said I could only cancel at the end of the billing cycle so I told her to go ahead and do it.
I tried to call back and switch the numbers now that the account shows it will cancel at the end of the period. The rep told me that if we tried to do it right now it would mess up the plans and that I should wait until the end of the cycle, when the ooc line is cancelled, to switch the numbers.
My questions: 1) Is there any way to cancel the ooc line before the end of the cycle? 2) Are there any other suggestions for getting my ooc line number switched to my centro sero line sooner?
Thanks.

Are people actually being aloud to transfer existing sprint numbers to SERO, my understanding was that existing sprint numbers couldn't be transfered. The fix was to transfer the number to another provider (pay as you go plan) then transfer back to the SERO once the number has cleared the non-SERO account.
I'm planning on switching to SERO soon ( waiting for the Q9c to come out ) and wish to keep my number, and had planned on doing this (transferring to an outside provider) - ( I'm a add-on line to a family plan, but my line is OOC ) - this sure would make things easier if sprint will do a direct transfer...

If you wanna go through all that trouble, go on ahead... and spend more money and wait 45 days to port back your number... Why don't you just spend your time reading past postings from people who had gone through it... In those threads, I always seen people getting tossed around during this process. I'll continue my research and not waste your time further..

From reading posts, my general understanding of the process was 1) sign up for a new line with SERO, 2) try new line out 3) cancel ooc line and port number. I've tried the new phone and wanna keep it, I'm just having trouble with the last part.
It seems the rep will port the number when the ooc line is finally cancelled at the end of the billing cycle but I'd prefer to port the number now rather then in three weeks. Most of the posts about the porting part of getting a new line just say to call and cancel the old plan, save the numgber and port.
I guess I'm missing some key posts or my question would just be is it true I have to wait until the end of the cycle for the port to happen?

I'm assuming you're near the end of your contract and are trying to do SERO which is exactly the same boat I'm in. My talks with the CSRs seem to indicate that porting before your contract is fulfilled will result in an ETF. I don't know how some people have done it while in contract, but I'd say those people got lucky from the scores of posts I've read on SU and other sites. A few weeks with two phones should be tolerable, at least I hope so because it's what I'll end up doing myself.

Okay, I finally got caught up ( well mostly made it to page 125 post #1900 ) and figured I'd read enough of liglyrichbich's posts to be able to ask this legitimately. ( and I'm going to smack myself it this was answered after page 125 post #1900 )
People OOC are fully eligible to sign up for SERO and have their number ported. (this was my confusion before, I thought it was simply any current sprint account regardless of OOC )
Here's the specific question/situation:
My wife has a 2-line family account, with my number being the add-on line. She is the primary account holder, though I used to be (originally started with sprint back in 2001, but upon getting married, we wanted to qualify for the military discount so we had to switch the primary ownership to my wife as she's active duty ). Now with me being the add-on number, I am OOC but she is not. Will this effect the migration in any way?
I now plan on taking the advice of liglyrichbich and simply sign up for a new account using the website, and entering in my current number to be ported at the same time.
Does anyone see anything that could possibly hinder this process?

As long as you're using the OOC line, you should be golden. Sprint treats OOC lines as if they're new subscribers even though they obviously have service with Sprint already. Being a "new subscriber" means they can port your number as if you were on another carrier.
Whacky isn't it?

Sounds great, and finally clears up all the confusion I've been having over the past 3 months with this. ( been doing all my research at a different site/thread)
One final note, have people had success using the "Bring Your Number" option, when signing up for new service via the website. I've heard mixed reviews, most stating even if its not ported upon arrival, simply call CS and have it done there. I'm just curious as to the success rate of this is. :)

So Along my journey trying to get my sero plan it has been an interesting journey and I think I finally succeeded today. Well I was OOC with nextel on November 1st and wanted to go ahead and migrate to Sero asap. I contacted lilgyrich***** for help and I thank her soo much for her help :headbang2 but I couldnt complete the process online because I was only approved for 2 lines via sprint/nextel and had to wait for the OOC line to cancel out before a sero acct could open (making the process just a little bit harder but o well). So I had to give up keeping my number and go ahead and get a new one. Well I called the sero telesales line all day 2day with a wait time of over 2 hrs and no one answered until I finally reached Amanda in CS :daisy: She instantly knew what I was talking about added my sero 2nd line gave me the web price of 299.99 for the mogul free shipping, activation, Urang $50.00 credit, $100 loyalty credit that expired 10/31 (she emailed cc and made note) and gave me a number to get my loyalty discount added. All praises to her. Well its still a slight possibility that I may get to keep my old number :fingers: but o well if not. I just want to thank lilgyrichbithch once again and all the posters on su for your help as the process has been completed. To all the newbies if I can be of any assistance let me know because I believe in paying it forward. This is the email that was sent to confirm my order so hopefully my mogul will be here wednesday.

If I sign up through the SERO website, it ends up giving me a new account. Should I call them and indicate that I just want to start a new line on my current OOC account? I am wondering if this affects switching over of any loyalties and stuff. I don't want to toss away 9 years of service. I was planning on porting the number over and cancelling the old line.

Maybe I should start charging for the Master Plan so you'd really be able to appreciate what you are being given for free... Why don't you go back and read what I took trouble to put together so you won't be going back and forth in the forums asking the same question over again when the answers are right under your nose if you would just take the time to read and absorb what I sent you last night and yesterday. Further, if you would click on my username and go back to 7/4/2007, you would get the gist of what I have been trying to tell you all along. I called you today, but you never returned my phone call. Need I remind you, I don't need all this information, I already know them, at the same time, I cannot read and do your homework for you. YOU HAVE TO READ IT YOURSELF. I already know all these, As a matter of fact I authored the Master Plan being peddled by an unscrupulous SU member for a fee on eBay for the thousands of copies that he is trying to sell that you are getting for free. So, what is the problem here? I didn't write it in any other language but English. I think we all speak English here and all you have to do is take the time to read it. You will sure find your answer. I think I should stop spoon-feeding you guys because I am getting frustrated.... If you want answers, why don't you read the last few posters the last few days... You want to see another one that I just got just a few mins ago..? Let me post it...

I appreciate your help but nothing I have seen in the past 20 pages or the master plan has answered my last question. If anything it just makes it more confusing since I'm seeing two different answers. Everything that has been said on the forums seems to indicate that people get the SERO plan as just a new line. But if I go through you master plan I end up with it on a new account.
I know if I follow your plan I will end up with a new phone on the SERO plan just fine. What I am worried about is losing the 9 year history on my old account since I am ending up with a new account.
Sorry that I did not return your call and thank you for calling me. I like to take a nap after a 24 hour shift and it was late after I woke up so I didn't want to disturb you. No need to get so aggressive. :hee:

Grandfathering what you have in the old to the new, keeping your tenure or longevity or HISTORY with Sprint, PORTING YOUR NUMBER... WHATELSE Do you wanna know that isn't there? What I am worried about is losing the 9 year history on my old account since I am ending up with a new account.
Sprint's system should pick up the fact that someone with your same name and billing info/address is setting up a new line which means you should be contacted one way or another giving you the opportunity to make sure the new SERO is on the same account. From what I've read, there may be no contact as well. But don't take anyone's word here as final because no one here speaks for Sprint officially.
Since preserving your history is important, I'd suggest that you get it from the horse's mouth and call Sprint to verify how lines added on the website get handled on your account. That way you know for sure and without a doubt. I'm about to do something similar, I'm not OOC yet, but I'll be posting updates on my progress for anyone interested. Hope that helps a bit, des.

:sigh: ligly, the difference is all you talk about is new lines whereas I am asking about a new account. Until someone tells me otherwise, there is a big difference as I haven't seen anyone talk about being able to link two separate accounts to grandfather stuff in etc. Yes, this is English, and no, I'm not asking a question that is answered in your plan.
Thanks for the answer vonfaulk. Nice that you actually read my question instead of just ranting that everything is in the master plan. =P I'm already OOC so I'll try this soon and let you know how it turns out.

It took me a week to get the SERO Sprint plan and Palm Centro phone. I have spoken to at least 8 different Sprint reps, most of whom told me something different. It seems they are not all clear on SERO and who should have it. Anyway, this was a new plan and I was switching from Verizon. I had to tell them it was too much hassle and I was staying with Verizon before they tried hard to make it happen. My plan is $30 mth, it's worth it.

so I attempted to follow the advice on the forum (which is phenomenal advice). However, I think there may be an easier way to do things.
First I called retentions (3 times, 3 different people), told them I was happy with sprint, but wanted the SERO plan. I was OOC, so I was going to cancel if they couldn't match or come close to it and OPEN 2 NEW LINES (MISTAKE!!!) All 3 said they couldn't come close!!
So...I ordered two new lines with sero with the plan of calling in later to cancel my old ones, holding the numbers, and try to transfer the numbers to the new lines.
When I called to cancel the numbers, I flat out told the lady, I am canceling, but can I hold the numbers in case I change my mind. She obviously tried offerring me more to stay. At that point I told her my situation, asked if she could just hold the numbers and move them to the new accounts. She said, no, BUT, she could easily give me the SERO plan on the old lines, so I could keep my numbers. She even said she could cancel the new lines, and I could use the phones I received for my old numbers. Problem: Mail in rebate. Then she said she'll just order two new phones for my old numbers, cancel out my NEW lines so I would get all the discounts rebate and give me SERO (not something similar...SERO). Little bit of headache, but I said ok to keep my numbers and possibly cont to get my employee discount on top of SERO (we'll find out). The rep told me a number of times that she thought it was ridiculous that the other 3 reps didn't offer me SERO to match. She said it was easy to do, and should've been done from the beginning! She said my mistake may have been saying that I was going to open up the line via SERO if they didn't match.
Solution: Call to cancel. If you can flat out say that you want out. They will offer you all kinds of things (In fact when I cancelled the new lines, the other rep said he'd give me 10% on top of SERO, even though the line was 2 days old). At that point mention SERO, they should match. If not, just hang up and do it again. It's better than having to go through anything else.
Bottom Line: Retentions has the ability to switch you to SERO from your current line. You just have to be persistent, and avoid saying the wrong thing!

After you place the order as a new account and it gets approved you will get an email to call them and verify your info.. During that call they told me "you signed up for a new account, but since you already have service we can add this as a new line on the account you have and you won't need a deposit". I said ok and within 5 minutes it added the number to my existing mysprint account..
I have had sprint since 99 and the only thing I cared about not losing was my phone #, I wasn't worried about pushing my luck keeping discounts etc.. Cutting my bill 50% and getting 100 more anytime minutes and mobile to mobile was enough discount for me.. If a sero plan by itself wouldn't give you a better deal than you get with your current discounts then don't get sero, try retentions. If sero is a better deal than you are getting with your discounts then forget the discounts until after you are all setup with sero then see what you can do about keeping them..
The only thing that is different for me now than it was a month ago is my plan and vision username. Same mysprint account login, same phone number I have had since 99, same phone I have had the past 2 years(did an esn swap back to it).

Nice job kkumar99 and thanks for sharing your experience. I must have to disagree about an easier way to do things though. I think its how lucky you are that you get a rep that knows what they're doing and knows what they can offer you. I called retentions twice and they wouldn't transfer my OOC number to my SERO line. But when I called another dept I was transferred several times but ended up with a successful transfer. I seriously believe a lot of the reps don't know what they're doing and put you on hold only to check their cust rep manual or ask their supervisor.
Theres no question that some people have an easier time and some get the burning of hell to get the SERO plan. But I think your bottom line quote seals the deal. "You just have to be persistent, and avoid saying the wrong thing." Nice job and enjoy the new phones and SERO benifits!

Well put!!!
I had my employer discount and a few perks but nothing beats the SERO plan.

thanks for tips here i signed up for sero through the site on a whole new account with no deposit and no trouble AT ALL (18 years old with no credit). got the sero 500 and treo 755 but its just my luck i messed up already. had my phone for about 3 days and at work the other night i accidentally put it in the wrong pocket(with my boxcutter) and have 2 deep scratches at the bottom of the screen. now im stuck for 2 years with these gashes on my screen :( and its all my fault (i was in a hurry though).
edit: also called in and tried once to get my 25% employers discount and they told me it couldnt be done so i didnt push the issue cause i can afford the plan as is. :)

That sounds like alot more of a hassle than I went through(none) in getting sero and using my old #..
So what happened to the sero order you placed?
Despite what she told you they can cancel a plan and reserve the number to put on a different plan..

oh i also had another question.
i decided to try and get my sero account before i cancel my other lin e(family plan on different account) just in case i wasnt able to get it but now my other line will be canceled december 4-6th and i was wondering is their any possible way to port that number to this new sero line or is that impossible?? would i have to cancel the new line and get another sero one(after my old lin eis cancelled) to port that number?? i think that would be hard so if i cant just port to this lin eim on now then i think ill have to let it go.
sorry i couldnt explain it better

ok ill search THANKS
one more quick question.
if i already made a new account to get a sero lin ecan i add another sero lin eunder the same account name (through online)?? my mom's contract is up on the 20th and she's tired of paying for 2000 minutes she doesnt use so she wants the same plan as me. seeing as that her account name is in collections (sister-in-laws doing) i told her she could get a line under my name for the $30 plan
